    Beer!

Meiers Tavern is a landmark business. You walk in, and it epitomizes the typical midwest tavern-bar. The decor is positively vintage. It's great. We had a couple of beers and ordered the Rubens with tater tots. The other way to go here is to order a burger. They are well known for their burgers. The fries were great, too. We will stop in for their Friday Fish Fry special. Service was very efficient and great. Oh- they are CASH ONLY, so bring some money with you.

A fun little 'neighborhood' bar. There is an old school feel to the bar, complete with artifacts from former breweries, beers and softball league trophies. Try the Reuben or Patty melt and enjoy a DAB on tap.

Definitely a neighborhood watering hole since 1933. Cash only with wondering if walls could talk what would they reveal. Friendly staff and pretty decent food! One star off for using styrofoam for plating.

I live close to this place and have driven by it for months telling myself "self, you need to try it out". Mission accomplished! I tried the thing everyone suggests, cheeseburger with tots. I ordered it medium, it came well done. That appears to be common among taverns. The cheeseburger is a basic cheeseburger. The tots, were basic tots. Seasoning isn't really the selling point on these, it is the cash price. Cash... they only accept cash. They have an ATM though. My meal sans drink cost 10.45 without tax. I mean, that is very good for a sit down place. The atmosphere of this place is exactly what you'd expect from a roadhouse tavern. Lots of wood, checkered table cloths, and the noise of a manual cash register in the background. The TVs over the huge bar are not too big, and this is a throwback in nostalgia to the 1960s. Hamms beers signs, Blatz sign at the front door, and DAB and Old Style on tap. The patrons are definitely locals and there are plenty (about 1/2 capacity on a Saturday at 2) This is an experience. If you are in the neighborhood, it is worth stopping and having a beer and a burger. I may need to come back on Friday for the fish fry.

We had cheeseburgers, shared onion rings and coleslaw and a couple beers. This was at 2 pm on Friday. The place was not busy. The burgers were not warm so they had been sitting too long to be taken out. Not good. There are better burgers out there. The onion rings were excellent and hot, really good. The beers, draft and craft were very good. One server for the whole place she was swamped and slow. Poor management.

Cozy neighborhood tavern, a great patty melt and onion rings that pairs well with a few DABs on draft.

You need to get your old pickles back. It's just not the same anymore! Why would you change what you had for so many years?

My dad had an office and n Glenview when I was younger and this place was there and he had never heard of it. I guess if you were local or took the Metra, then you knew. I made a reservation as there were twelve of us coming in. We arrive for our monthly Burger Club with high hopes. It's a cute place. They have a nice outdoor deck area and the inside has a nice wooden bar with tables around it with two or three additional rooms of seating, too. We asked for separate checks, and our server told us it was no problem (it was). They have a lot of burgers to choose from so we thought that this would be a great place to go. I'll say this, our server was wonderful. Super nice, really friendly, always refilling drinks. Just a wonderful experience with her. And that's where it ends. My burger came our perfectly prepared (they ask what temperature you want and I wanted medium rare). The patties are insanely thin and toppings, while fresh, are overly abundant. Fresh lettuce, tasty pickles, etc. the burger had no flavor. No salt or pepper to season it or anything. And mine was the best of the group. Others received burgers that were overcooked, had the wrong buns, came with caramelized onions, but were raw -were sent back and came back raw again - and the sides were underwhelming. I don't like ketchup, so I asked for ranch and it was thick and had a funky flavor to it. Then bills came and they were all wrong. She had mixed up every bill. Thankfully most burgers cost the same, but drinks and some side upgrades don't. We will never go back here. I have no idea how they stay in business.

Jackman & Co's happy hour has three of their popular cocktails on special as well as beer, wine, and a couple of bites. When entering, the bar area is on the left and the main dining area on the right. The bar area is a little darker in finishes with the center bar truly as the focal point. The main dining area is lighter and brighter with tons of natural light. For drinks, I got the Jackman Old Fashioned. This was well balanced but I didn't get much of the coffee note while enjoying. My husband got A Modern Cure which was tart in the right way. I loved the glassware each drink was served in and the bartenders were great at making suggestions for Jackman's menu as well as their new sister restaurant Zenzi Den's menu. Overall, this was a great happy hour spot and I would certainly come back to try some of their food!

Luckily, I did make reservations weeks in advance because I was very surprised to see this place. Fill up even at this early bird dinner time. Please note parking around here. It's pretty tricky even on a Sunday. If you could find street parking, it's free with no time limit limitation however they do also offer valet. The menu has changed since they originally opened probably a year or so ago. Which is also great to see. We did order two appetizers, three entrées and one dessert to share amongst three people. Everything was super fresh and super delicious. We are definitely coming back here. We honestly did not expect it to be this great but it truly was impressive. What made the night even more memorable and fantastic was the incredible service from Michael D. Michael D needs to train other servers. He is absolutely on point and speaks and behaves like a real veteran in the hospitality business. I've never been overly impressed by ballyhoo hospitality, however, this is significantly different and they did something very right here. There are so many restaurants opening in the downtown Glenview area and this has to be a stop for anyone and everyone In classic ballyhoo hospitality style the ambience is absolutely impressive and impeccable.

We expected good service because they were so empty, and we got good service. We ate indoors - the sun was strong so we didn't want to get too hot. I ordered the Hackney's Burger and my friend got the "Adult Grilled Cheese." The Hackney's burger is a 1/2 pound burger with onions, tomatoes, and lettuce, with French fries. The fries were really good - well seasoned and crisp. The burger is a mouthful at a whopping 1/2 pound. I order burgers with a Gluten-Free bun. They say the brand they use for the bun is Udi's. Udi's has good flavor, but the buns don't hold up when something is moist. With meat drippings, the bun breaks down and starts to fall apart. Other than that, the burger was also very good. The Adult Grilled Cheese is cheddar, avocado, and tomato on sour dough bread. According to my friend, it was excellent. Hackney's is a Chicago institution. If you haven't been, try it. I would recommend they sample other gluten-free bun brands to find one that doesn't fall apart so easily. However, I'm grateful they offer the option.
