    Beer!

Meiers Tavern is a landmark business. You walk in, and it epitomizes the typical midwest tavern-bar. The decor is positively vintage. It's great. We had a couple of beers and ordered the Rubens with tater tots. The other way to go here is to order a burger. They are well known for their burgers. The fries were great, too. We will stop in for their Friday Fish Fry special. Service was very efficient and great. Oh- they are CASH ONLY, so bring some money with you.

A fun little 'neighborhood' bar. There is an old school feel to the bar, complete with artifacts from former breweries, beers and softball league trophies. Try the Reuben or Patty melt and enjoy a DAB on tap.

I live close to this place and have driven by it for months telling myself "self, you need to try it out". Mission accomplished! I tried the thing everyone suggests, cheeseburger with tots. I ordered it medium, it came well done. That appears to be common among taverns. The cheeseburger is a basic cheeseburger. The tots, were basic tots. Seasoning isn't really the selling point on these, it is the cash price. Cash... they only accept cash. They have an ATM though. My meal sans drink cost 10.45 without tax. I mean, that is very good for a sit down place. The atmosphere of this place is exactly what you'd expect from a roadhouse tavern. Lots of wood, checkered table cloths, and the noise of a manual cash register in the background. The TVs over the huge bar are not too big, and this is a throwback in nostalgia to the 1960s. Hamms beers signs, Blatz sign at the front door, and DAB and Old Style on tap. The patrons are definitely locals and there are plenty (about 1/2 capacity on a Saturday at 2) This is an experience. If you are in the neighborhood, it is worth stopping and having a beer and a burger. I may need to come back on Friday for the fish fry.

Definitely a neighborhood watering hole since 1933. Cash only with wondering if walls could talk what would they reveal. Friendly staff and pretty decent food! One star off for using styrofoam for plating.

Cozy neighborhood tavern, a great patty melt and onion rings that pairs well with a few DABs on draft.

Owner was friendly but sounded rushed when we were ordering. Definitely had to order quickly. The Spicy Gangster Burger had a serious punch of heat in the best way possible. The burger patty was super flavorful with a nice crisp on the outside while still staying juicy inside. The chicken tacos were delicious with a little kick to them -- my 14-year-old absolutely inhaled them. The carne asada fries were also really good and easily shareable. The steak was flavorful, tender, and loaded on top. Overall, everything we tried was packed with flavor and worth coming back for!

The gyro meat has a unique, delicious flavor that keeps me coming back, and the pita is exactly how it should be, soft with just the right amount of crisp. You can tell the staff genuinely cares about the customer experience. On my most recent visit, Verda was exceptionally kind, patient, and welcoming to every person who walked through the door. I was especially touched by how warm and thoughtful she was with my sons. That level of genuine hospitality is becoming harder to find, and it made our meal even more enjoyable. Great food brings people in the first time, but outstanding service is what keeps them coming back. The Works delivers both. It's the kind of local business worth going out of your way to support. The staff was friendly and the place was clean; so, 3 out of 5 stars.

We decided to go one more time before this location closes, to celebrate my mom's birthday. There was a pretty long wait on a Friday afternoon but it was well worth it. We were seated in the party room though which made it louder and more crowded than I had been hoping for. But the entire staff was amazing. Even more so once you consider how many customers they were dealing with. We had one server for the whole room and she had approximately 30 people to handle other than us. We got the onion loaf, the full size. We each got Burgers but I only took picture of mine. When I tell you I have been waiting to have the perfect burger for months, this absolutely fit the bill. They have a good number of options for both adults and kids, so whether it's this location before they close on September 6th, or the remaining original location on Harms, definitely visit if you're craving a delicious Burger! Maybe we'll go again before they close.

My dad had an office and n Glenview when I was younger and this place was there and he had never heard of it. I guess if you were local or took the Metra, then you knew. I made a reservation as there were twelve of us coming in. We arrive for our monthly Burger Club with high hopes. It's a cute place. They have a nice outdoor deck area and the inside has a nice wooden bar with tables around it with two or three additional rooms of seating, too. We asked for separate checks, and our server told us it was no problem (it was). They have a lot of burgers to choose from so we thought that this would be a great place to go. I'll say this, our server was wonderful. Super nice, really friendly, always refilling drinks. Just a wonderful experience with her. And that's where it ends. My burger came our perfectly prepared (they ask what temperature you want and I wanted medium rare). The patties are insanely thin and toppings, while fresh, are overly abundant. Fresh lettuce, tasty pickles, etc. the burger had no flavor. No salt or pepper to season it or anything. And mine was the best of the group. Others received burgers that were overcooked, had the wrong buns, came with caramelized onions, but were raw -were sent back and came back raw again - and the sides were underwhelming. I don't like ketchup, so I asked for ranch and it was thick and had a funky flavor to it. Then bills came and they were all wrong. She had mixed up every bill. Thankfully most burgers cost the same, but drinks and some side upgrades don't. We will never go back here. I have no idea how they stay in business.
