One of the worst places I have been. Don't waste your time or money. We got seated right away, but it took the waitress another 45 minutes to take our order, and that was only after we flagged her down. She was very brief and rude. When we couldn't get drinks in the dining area, I went to the bar. This was no better. When my chicken sandwich came, it was greasy and we couldn't get any napkins. Also it came with 10 tater tots. That's right, I guess potatoes must be really expensive. After all the poor service and food, I resigned myself to getting my bill and going some place else. read more

Classic old suburban beer joint/ roadhouse located in Glenview. Reminds me of some place from the forties where a guy and his dame could stop for a cold one. It's cozy inside and has a lot of tables and chairs and a decent size bar. They serve food and have another seating area off to the side. Package goods are for sale (that is beer to go, and other sundry items). Look for the classic neon sign that will take you back to a better era. read more

Hallmark of the North Shore. I love drinking DAB and sitting at the bar. There are a few TVs but always end chatting with my buddies more than watching sports. Great spot to meet friends for drinks. read more

An old time bar with lots of wood paneling. Absolutely nothing fancy here but plenty of nostalgia for sure. They have DAB on tap which is a nice touch and a pretty decent burger. Most of the people who work there are great. Thinking back on my life this place might be the contributing factor to my love for two very delicious, but very unhealthy things. Please dont go here on a friday fish fry the place is a cluster. The slick boss seat his friends, they are way under staffed no one has a clue. Went to Meier's Tavern today for lunch. Hadn't been there for awhile. Ordered the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich and tots. Sandwich horrible . Just a slab of gristly meat. Service non-existent. Waitstaff never stopped by to ask how the food was, or if I needed anything. Will never go back. read more

I love this charming old watering hole! North Shore low-key cool. Lots of pricey European autos outside, but attitudes and pretention are left at the door. Great cheeseburgers, patty melts (with tater tots!) and giant DAB drafts go great with the old cozy bar and friendly service. A great place for sports without the sports bar vibe. Great old school bar. Fair prices, good bar food, esp the burgers and tots. My girls think the patty melt rocks. Good Reuben as well. Dab beer great and the bartenders make very good cocktails at a fraction of those offered by the "mixologists" downtown. I'm a regular so perhaps get more personable service than people coming off the street but I like the folks here. Jeopardy at 330 a must. Don't change a thing. read more

The prices are good and the place has that historical feeling which I like. There are only 2 things wrong with this place. 1st, they only take cash, which is not convenient. 2nd, when they are busy they only have 1 server. Now the server that was there was working her tail off but could barely keep up with everyone. They need to hire another server. read more

This tavern reminds me of the taverns in Milwaukee. Run down, 60s styling, delicious fried food, cheap drinks. It's a no frills neighborhood tavern and when I'm in the mood for it I'm glad it's there. The bartender whom I suspect is also the owner is very friendly. When I introduced myself as new to the area on my first visit he let gave me a few drinks for free. read more

Last Friday's fish fry was delicious!! Even my husband who has never been a fish eater LOVED it. Meier's "signature" Dab beer on tap went really well. Kids love the tator tots. Never been a fan of meier's styrofoam plates but that does not keep me away. read more

Since my original review, we've hit Meier's a couple more times, and I'm more convinced that I'd just caught them on a bad night. We've had great food and drinks, the orders have been accurate, and the service has been fast and friendly. (Okay, DAB in huge mugs bumps up my rating as well.) I'm not quite ready to five-star them but you can add a big fractional star to the four I put up there. If you're looking for an old-school tavern that serves good food and has that vintage atmosphere, Meier's should be the end of your journey. read more

I've been going to this place for 40 years! This is old school and a great place to be casual! My visits are welcomed by Denis the bartender whom is a great person. The people whom come from all around make this place a jewel. Food is satisfying and the servers are friendly. Why not a fifth star? Thats reserved for my wife's hospitality and kitchen. It was my friend's birthday and our waitress brought us a styrofoam plate covered with tootsie roll pops and york peppermint patties and a round of complimentary shots for the table. The grand total for 3 DABS and a lot of whiskey was $40.00. AMAZING deal. So many Wilmette parents reliving their glory days. Great place. read more

This place should be in northern Wisconsin - not Chicagoland. Best feature is that they have tater tots on the menu - saves me the time of pre-heating my own overn. Decor is retro northern Wis - nothing special. Have been here bunch of times - multiple meals - now I only get the double tots. Have carry out liquor service, but no gin for carry out - 6 kinds of vodka - but no gin. This is the place to stop for one quick one and a carry out 6 pack - not much more. read more

To the management, owner, or whom it may concern: If by any chance you are wondering why I am no longer patronizing your establishment after more than 20 years of being a loyal and regular customer. It is because of the piss poor service I received and the completely out of line rude comments that were made directly to me by one of your employees. This took place in front of the staff and all the guests in the restaurant and seated at the bar. Your failure to order and keep in stock an essential component (Campari) to my favorite cocktail on numerous occasions has also led me to seek out another bar that does cater to my taste. Your ancient, limited menu also no longer does anything for me. So in summary; very bad service by the wait staff (Lori) in particular, unfriendly and unaccommodating bartenders, an old outdated boring menu, and above all the complete lack of respect for a loyal customer and guest. local "dive" bar with cheap eats and one of the only places in the area that serves tater tots. Be sure to order extra tots as they are not very generous on the portions that come with the sandwich. Prompt service and huge beers make this place worth visiting. Not a bad hamburger either read more

The food quality has gone down thru the years, and the management/waitstaff continue to be rude and nasty on a regular basis.
