I went to the Meineke at 2056 W Southern Ave, Mesa, AZ 85202 at the beginning of October to get my fender liners replaced. I brought my own parts, and the staff said it wouldn't be an issue. The next day, both liners came off while I was driving on the freeway. I couldn't recover them, and driving with the bumper dragging for two weeks caused more damage to my bumper, skid plate, and headlights. A local body shop confirmed it was due to a bad installation and quoted me about $3,500 in damage. The owner never called me back, and the manager who did was very rude, saying it wasn't his problem since I brought my own parts. Mistakes happen, but the lack of accountability here was disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this location. read more

We've used this location a lot over the years. We trust them to be honest about what needs fixing now vs what is fine to wait until a later date. (I've even heard them point things out to customers that would be covered by recalls, so take it to the dealership instead of giving Meineke money for it. Not all auto shops have that integrity.) The service is fast and the mechanics are good at explaining things to me in a way I understand them, without seeming condescending. As a woman, I feel totally comfortable waiting in the lobby, which I definitely haven't at other auto shops. JD, especially, is super friendly and informative. read more

They replaced the axle on my vehicle with the wrong size axle. Months later I had a damaged transmission and obviously needed to replace the axle with the correct size. I brought in documents showing this to them and they have completely ignored me for over a month. I haven't even been offered a refund for the horrible "repair" they originally did. My normal mechanic says he has to fix mistakes from this location constantly and I am inclined to believe him. read more

DO NOT USE this location to service your car. I brought my car into the shop due to a tire maintenance icon that appeared on the dashboard. The technician drove my car around and told me that I had bad wheel hub bearings and a bad power steering pump. I informed the technician that I just replaced the power steering pump a month ago so that was a lie. The technician then told me that it was leaking fluid. I informed him to replace the hose to the power steering pump. It took the technician over 7 hours to replace a hose. Unbelievable! I now have problems with my power steering which I did not have prior to bringing my car to the shop. I did not get the wheel hub bearings fixed because the quote was too high. They will also try to sell you other services that are not needed. read more

I went there a couple months ago and had a tune up, front brakes (including the calipers) and fuel module assembly worked on, in total I paid a whopping $1,700 for; somebody should expect to get their money's worth for such a package. Last week I was on a road trip to California when my front wheels started locking up so I took it to a nearby shop to have it checked out. The mechanic there discovered that Meineke failed to put in the bottom two bolts on the calipers when they were installed. Had it been the upper two bolts, then I could have broken down and/or possibly been in an accident of sorts. This was a cheap, simple fixture but for me, it is the principle behind it that counts. How am I supposed to have faith in the other repairs they had done on my car? I called the manager and asked for a refund on the work they had done but they were only going to reimburse me for the cost of cheap repairs. I would prefer (as would probably anybody else in my position) a larger refund for all the hassles and lack of attention to detail on their part. Now, if Meineke is willing to take more accountability for their mistakes and offer s better refund deal, I'd be more than happy to rescind this negative review. read more

The battery in my truck was on its last breath. It's in a tough spot that isn't easily accessible and I wasn't in the mood to change it myself so we called around to a few places to see if they could swap it out. Costco put me on hold for 10 minutes and when I called back they wanted to put me on hold again I stead of answer my question. In the end they wouldn't remove the old and install the new so that was a no go. PepBoys was anything by peppy. Bad customer service and lazy excuses for why it would take them a few hours. Went into Meinike and despite a full bay of cars someone immediately went out and tested the battery. They quickly confirmed it was bad and switched it out quickly. Mike was a great help. I panicked, got off the freeway and ended up at this Meineke location praying they could help me. I was greeted immediately and told they could check my car right away. I knew I needed an oil change so I requested that service while I was there. They told me why my check engine light was on and changed my oil, inspected my car and rotated my tires. Took my Jeep off-roading last weekend and had a blast after all this rain we were getting. I noticed a grinding sound and wasn't sure if I had done something to the front end, or if I was having issues with my brakes (I had been hearing a light squeal). Took it in here to Meineke and they were able to run a brake check right away. They pulled my brakes apart and confirmed that my brake pads still had plenty of life left on them, and that there were no other issues with the brakes. The service manager, Brian, updated me and explained everything clearly and asked me questions to see exactly why I brought it in. When I mentioned the grinding sound, he asked the technician to drive it around the block a few times. They were unable to reproduce the sound, and the consensus was that there may have been some debris from off-roading that got cleared away when they checked the brakes. I ended up paying just $35 for the brake inspection. These folks didn't try to upsell me on anything or overcharge, just a simple brake check and I was on my way! How refreshing, as other mechanics I've been to have tried to sell me on every single "recommended" service possible! I once had a shop quote me over $500 to fix my AC blower motor resistor on my old Tacoma. Ended up that the part that needed to be replaced was right above where the passenger's feet would sit. Took me 45 min b/c I was following along with a YouTube video. My point being, these folks could have tried to sell me on some easy fixes but they didn't. My son just moved to the area and has been having a bit of car trouble. My husband came over and fixed what he could, changing out a broken hose for a new one , but there was one part he had already purchased and couldn't get to and put in. We realized we'd need to have it towed to replace the coolant thermostat housing (the part we paid for ourselves) . We called ahead a few places and Meineke quoted us around $250 with labor to put the part on that we brought with us. Soon after getting the car there that price jumped to $350. Why? No real explanations. When my son was told it was almost time to pick up the car they told us it would be $671.00 WTF?! To replace a coolant thermostat housing ; one we had already bought, paid for and gave them? After speaking to someone over the phone and then a manager my husband is told they ordered and replaced a hose and clamp. The same hose we had just replaced the day before. Telling my husband they couldn't charge for just a clamp but the entire hose. Either way this is shady and unprofessional. Replacing parts that are brand new, charging three times the quoted price and not a company I'll ever use or refer again. What bad business practices. You should be ashamed of yourself. I had my oil changed here which went well. I had them look at my brakes and they reported back to me that my brakes needed to be replaced. Just the front brake PADS. ONLY the pads. They wanted $300 to change $60 brake pads. Are you serious? 1. The pads are $60 2. It doesn't take 2 hours to change them 3. I can change them myself with a jack, tire iron and a couple other tools and a youtube video. The guy at the counter tried to tell me that $300 was the cheapest in the valley. That is absolute bologna. There are about 5 shops within an 8 mile radius that offer brake services for $200 AND they include realigning the caliper, lubing the caliper and any other adjustments all included in that price. Do not get ripped off by this shop's over priced services. read more

This place is a scam factory. Stay away! I went in for a routine oil change for my 20 year old 200,000+ Tacoma and was informed that I have a leak around the oil pan gasket. They said that they would need to perform a dye penetrant inspection to find the cause which I suppose is fair, even though it is pretty obvious where the leak is coming from. The neat thing is, they put synthetic oil in without permission or asking which will make the situation far worse. Now I need to change the oil I just had changed. I also have worn control arm bushings and they recommended I replace the entire front end.... Thanks Meineke, You guys are the mechanics that make the industry look like scumbags. read more

If I could give them 0 I would. I made an appointment for an oil change several days in advance and drove 16 miles to get there at my scheduled time. I tried to take advantage of an oil change coupon that was on their website. They took the car into the back and after several minutes one of the car technicians came out and said they couldn't do an oil change because there was no oil on the dip stick. It was dry. I've NEVER had that happen before and asked why they couldn't add oil. The lady at the front counter said it was because they didn't want to be responsible for any engine damage there might be. I started to freak out and drove away. When I calmed down I pulled over and decided to check the oil level myself and discovered there was oil on the dip stick, very dirty oil, but the stick wasn't dry. I was going to go back to tell them but decided I didn't want people who didn't know what they were doing working on my car. First off, some of the nicest people I've ever met work here. Lavonne and her son Brian were so friendly. While they worked on my car, Brian was able to drop me back off at my house. I needed an oil change, alignment, tire rotation, brakes and rotors. All things I knew I needed going in. They didn't try to over sell and were very honest. My car is apart of my employers work fleet and they made sure my car is safe for me to get back on the road. It took a little longer than usual for approval from our fleet management - and the team here at meineke stayed late beyond closing to make sure my car was done for the next work day. 11/10, A++. I went in asking for a conventional oil change and tire rotation. When the oil change was finished i came back and had found out i received an oil change with synthetic oil. I presented my coupon from the meineke website for a basic oil change for 24.99$ plus tax. the man at the desk refused to redeem my coupon and told me it was expired, even though it clearly states the expectation date on 05/02/22 which was over 2 weeks away. I then had to pay for a synthetic oil change 60$. There was no inspection performed on my vehicle with no vehicle inspection sheet given to me after the oil change, when i asked about it he told me everything was fine with the vehicle which i knew was a lie considering my vehicle is 20 years old and i know it needs a brake fluid flush and new brakes. The tire rotation was never performed either, i had a milkshake spilled on my front right tire and on the right side of the vehicle prior to coming for the oil change and when i picked up the vehicle there was still milkshake on the front right tire. Overall very disappointing, and i would recommend everyone stay away from meineke and this location. read more

We thought we had found our official new spot cause last time they fixed our AC on our Volkswagen Tiguan S 2012 (2 Wheel Drive) when no one else could for some reason. All it ended up needing was an AC Charge. Well, on December 9th, 2021 we drove the car to this location to get a diagnostic cause the car wasn't driving right but it was turning on and it was driving. we had an appointment for 1PM and I got there on time. I had my daughter with me and we appreciated that they had a tiny little play section with some Legos and a TV to keep the kids and adults entertained. I asked the guy how long the diagnostic would take and Dustin said he didn't know but it would be about $135 an hour but if we decided to have the repair done with them the fee would be waived. We waited about 2 hours or so and we're told that the problem was a cracked fuel pump and that they wanted to swap ours out for a new one from the dealership. Dustin called the dealership and was told they had one. He told the dealer to hold it and sent someone to go pick it up. Dustin said they were going to be able to have us driving our car back home before they close at 6pm. He seemed sure that his cracked fuel pump theory would take care of our issue. I think they might have just been diagnosing based on the symptoms and not based on the actual codes they were getting cause from what I have read numerous things could have been the cause of our symptoms. Dustin told us about an hour later that his guy wasn't able to get the fuel pump cause the dealership didn't actual end up having it. They had an inaccurate on hand count of the fuel pump. We didn't think much of it and started planning to take an Uber home which Dustin said they would pay for which we thought was nice at the time. Dustin stepped away for a while and the guy that went to pick up the fuel pump came back and I asked him if the dealer was lying about having the fuel pump originally just to make conversation. The guy looked at me with a blank face and said "huh? I got the fuel pump" that's when my gut feeling told me this Dustin guy is probably trying to take me for a ride and not just an Uber one. Dustin came back out a few minutes later and said "oh he got the wrong pump so we still have to finish this tomorrow, your pump and back seat is already out and on the floor so we already have everything out". The next day we're waiting for a phone call with an update on what's going on with the vehicle. It's about 11:30am and still no phone call so I decided to call from work and I got a girl who said they put the new fuel pump in but now they are still trying to find out what's wrong with the car by doing more diagnostics on the vehicle. This had us worried cause we didn't think anything else would be wrong. She said Dustin would call us later with an update. 3 hours later still no phone call so I called again and Dustin picked up and said the new fuel pump was in but now there's an electrical problem that they can't figure out and they are getting a short to ground code over and over again and they are trying to find out what wire is causing it. A whole day later still no phone call so I call back and I get told by Dustin that they still don't know what's wrong with the vehicle and they are still running diagnostics trying to figure out how to fix the electrical problem. Well another day later, fast forward to today, December 11th 2021 and Dustin calls my fiancee Sophia and tells her he can't figure out how to fix the electrical problem and to come and pay the $776 for the fuel pump and get the car towed to a different mechanic because they basically give up and don't know what to do. This is outrageous. They didn't fix the issue and now the car is in worse shape than when we drove it there it can no longer turn on and you can no longer drive it now and he wants us to pay him and then tow it somewhere else. I am completely shocked by how horrible the service at this place is and can't believe that a place that fixes cars not only can't fix my car but is charging me for switching out a part and messing up my car even more and left it in a even worse state than it was when it went in. I called corporate and I am waiting for a response. I'm going to the BBB, every review site, the attorney general, councilman in the district, the news, ect if they don't do anything about this. Someone has to be able to help me from getting screwed by these hustlers. Do not come to this shop. They are not trustworthy!!!! read more

I have always had AMAZING customer service here at this location. I come for regular oil changes which are always quick and reasonably priced. Once I had purchased all four new tires and the next day one popped on the road. I was frantic, assuming I would pay for all damage but the manager took care of the cost it took to have someone come replace my tire and bring it into the shop to immediately get looked at. It turns out it was something faulty on my car for the tires but they fixed it for me the same hour and day it happened. Meineke is a little pricey but it's so worth it for me with exceptional customer service and to go to the same people I trust for most of my car needs. 100% recommended read more

Would give zero stars if I could. I came in on 9/11/21 to have my 2011 Ford Fusion looked at for the A/C they "fixed" last year (5/21/20). They wanted to check to see if it was something they had replaced that went bad before fixing anything which was fine with me. Of course it wasn't the parts they replaced, however it was something directly next to what they fixed that apparently went bad. I was confused on how I was having the exact same issue I did when I came in last year but it was a completely different issue this time and why they had to replace completely different parts this time around. The front office technician allowed me to go back and speak with the tech working on my car which I appreciated. The tech working on my car was a short Hispanic man who was extremely rude when explaining the issues of my vehicle. I asked him questions in order to better understand what was wrong and why I have to now replace new parts for the same issue I came in for last year when he became very angry and condescending. I told the techs that I no longer wanted anything fixed by them due to their rude and inconsistent service. Upon leaving, my A/C completely went out so I went back in and ask them what was going on because it was on when I came in. The same tech that looked at my car came out with a demo to explain again what was wrong with my car and yet again he was very condescending. I feel that they assumed that because I was a woman that I couldn't understand what they were explaining, but I told them numerous times that I knew what they were talking about. I don't appreciate being treated like I cannot understand a simple concept in addition to not one employee being sympathetic of my situation and the fact that I paid almost $700 to fix this same issue last year and they wanted another $300 to fix something else! I will never come to this location again. Actually, I will never come into another Meineke Car Care Center again after this entire situation. My car and myself will be in better hands elsewhere!
