I'll start by saying I've had really good experiences at Greulichs Tempe in the past. My last 4 visits will make me a "Never again" customer. May 10- I go in for an alignment on a Jeep Manager tells me that it requires some specialty parts, so I ordered the parts. May 20- Scheduled appt to get alignment parts installed. Alignment software is down. June 19th- I scheduled an appointment online, for 1pm. I walk in to drop the car off and I'm told that there aren't enough techs to complete the job on the 19th, and he for sure knew they could have enough on 6/25 If I rescheduled. june 25th- I arrived for the appointment scheduled a week ago, and I'm told that it has a 50/50 chance of getting done today, and that it will probably have to stay over night. I walked out with my parts and my keys. It shouldn't take 5 visits to handle an alignment. read more

RUN from Greulich's Automotive Repair! I went in to have my A/C looked at and while the front desk girl and the two guys working were very friendly, the service itself was FAR from honest. After their inspection, they handed me a piece of paper with an $1,100 quote to fix my A/C, claiming two parts needed to be replaced. Something felt off, so I left to get a second opinion -- and THANK GOODNESS I did. Turns out both parts Greulich's wanted to replace are totally fine. The real issue? My air filter was filthy. That's it. I replaced it elsewhere for under $30, and my A/C works perfectly now. Greulich's didn't even offer to replace the filter -- they just tried to push a thousand-dollar repair on me and let me drive away. Mechanics like this should NOT be in business. I will never go back, and I'll be leaving reviews everywhere I can to help others avoid getting ripped off the way I almost was. read more

I went in today with a dead battery installed by Greulichs, as I thought it could be on warranty. After a long search, I was told that such a battery was never installed on my car, a car that has been serviced by Greulichs for the past 20 years. This is simply unacceptable. To not have a decent system that contains all the service done on a given car means that warranties such as a battery's go unfulfilled. If you care about your vehicle take it anywhere else! Been going here for 1.5 years only because of said warranties. This business will not diagnose correctly and will not inform you on issues that where not there before you Brought it in. I've spent a small fortune at two of there shops, one in paradise valley and the other in Tempe and my vehicle still doesn't run. These shops continuously will sell you your vehicle back to you in an unsafe unusable condition. I'm sure your local handyman could do better! read more

We've always had great experiences at Greulich's. Today my husband took in my 2014 Lexus because the air conditioner stopped working. Thankfully, it wasn't anything major, they just reset the battery (basically a computer reset) and got the AC running again, all at no charge! I really appreciate that they've never tried to upsell us on unnecessary work. I'll definitely keep bringing my car here whenever it needs service. read more

been Going here for years and never had an issue. I just bought a Kia sportage and had my first oil change here and now my oil drain bolt is leaking my guess is it's stripped. I won't even be taking it back to have them fix it cause I'm my option if you can't even do an oil change without breaking stuff you shouldn't be working on peoples vehicles that they depend on for work. Excellent Service and Great Value at Greulich's Automotive My daughter recently took her car to Big O tires for an oil change and discovered she needed new brakes and rotors. The estimate seemed high so we called Greulich's and spoke to Brian. He was extremely helpful and told us to bring the car in so they could provide a quote since we would be picking up the car right down the street from Big O Tires. True to their word, Greulich's not only beat the Big O price, but they also used higher quality brake pads and provided a longer warranty. The entire process at Greulich's was outstanding, the even accommodated the late day repair so we could get it done same day! Their team was professional, courteous, and transparent about the repairs needed. I ended up saving over $200 compared to the Big O estimate, and I have peace of mind knowing my daughter's car has top-notch brakes. We highly recommend Greulich's. read more

Dropped off my vehicle for a diagnosis of a sputtering engine upon acceleration. I thought it was clogged fuel filter. They diagnosed it as bad transmission, not fixable, needs a new one. Charged me $250 for an oil change and diagnosis. After googling symptoms of my vehicle, turns out plugs go bad. $25 NGK plugs from Napa and my car runs great. If you're going to rip people off, say it's something affordable so we can afford to fall for it. read more

I visited this auto shop recently and had a very DISAPPOINTING experience. It became apparent that they were charging me significantly more than what was necessary for the work that needed to be done. After getting a few opinions elsewhere, it was clear that I was being overcharged. Everywhere else I called was half the cost. Even one of their other locations quoted a male friend of mine $500 less. I suspect that the pricing was influenced by the fact that I'm a woman, which is both unfair and UNPROFESSIONAL. In the end, I felt taken advantage of, and I will not be returning or recommending this shop to anyone. Transparency and honesty are key in any business, and this place clearly lacks both. Them charging $200 for a diagnostic fee was also ridiculous but I'm glad I was able to get my car out of there and repaired elsewhere! If anyone needs recommendations on an honest mechanic, I have one who is less than 10 minutes from this Greulich's location. read more

It was not an isolated experience. The morning of 5/6/2023 was busy in the strip mall due to the Kentucky Derby. Whoever was working that morning was yelling at every person who parked close to Greulich's claiming it was for customers only and he would get the cars towed. There was no signage indicating that the spots were for Greulich's customers only. I've had fair luck here before. The estimate on my daughters car was so High I checked - all the parts were twice the price that NAPA charged. We went elsewhere for that but I figured they could handle a simple oil change and tire rotation. I marked the 2 front tires so I could verify they got rotated. Kroll called; said they were done and I could picked it up. I get there and check the tires - they hadn't been rotated. Waited around while they completed what was supposedly "done". Did they really change the oil? Was it synthetic like it should've been? Did they actually change the filter? Is there an honest shop out there? read more

Dropped my car off for an alignment. When I picked it up it pulled hard to the right. They clearly did not test drive it as it was obvious. Dropped it back off and told them the problem. Brian was a complete jerk about it. When I came back I asked him how we could count on an alignment to be accurate from them and he said "let me stop you right there. We didn't do it right and it is fixed now." God forbid I ask about my service. This is the last time I will visit Gruelich's and will share my bad experience with my friends. We made an appt. to get an oil change, three days before. When we brought the car in they said we had no appt. Even though it was confirmed with a text to us. We would have to leave car to be worked on sometime that day. When we went to pick up car, the price for an oil change had gone up more than 40% from the last time we had our oil changed, 6 months ago. The reason was that everything has gone up in price. This being true, but it was 68$ up to 99.50 We have taken all our cars there but no more. read more

John at Greulich's Tempe took good care of me and my car recently. I've been a long time customer for at least 10 years. The under carriage protection cover had come loose and it needed to be reattached. I had called the day before and was told it is pretty easy to do and to just come in. When I arrived that's exactly what happened. About 30 minutes after I arrived, I was out the door. This place and their service advisors are just wonderful. No foolery. They straight up will tell the customer the good, bad and ugly right up front, or while your car is there, so that you can make a wise decision. I've seen it with other customers and have experienced it myself. For this specific issue I thought it'd be a big deal and it wasn't. I'm very glad to have Gruelich's and their many convenient locations here in the Phx area, because all I know about cars is how to start and stop and fill the tank with gas! Paid ALOT to have major tune-up on my Toyota. Fluids exchanged, and all new hoses. When picked-p car, engine fluids dripped and dried across front of my car. Had a strange noise,therefore, had a Toyota shop re-evaluate and the radiator hose was incorrect size, pieced together, held-on by medal clips?! Having to reorder correct part to be safe. Also told need new brakes and this is not true. Very disappointed as reviews were different than my experience! read more

My older car recently failed AZ emissions. The people at the state emissions facility enrolled my car in the Volunteer Vehicle Repair Program (VVRP). VVRP will contribute $550 toward the repair of your vehicle to help it pass emissions testing. You just need to use a repair shop that participates in the program. My closest participating facility was the Greulich's in Tempe. When the estimate came back for $3500+ dollars, of which I would pay $2970, that just did not sound right to me, so I said "No thank you!" Greulich's charged me $75 (plus $8.25 in parts?) for the diagnostic work ("because the VVRP program allows them to"). I did more homework on emission repair specialists and ended up at another provider. As you can see in the picture of the receipts below, they were able to perform pretty much the same work and take the car successfully through emissions testing at roughly 1/3 the cost. Unfortunately, it turns out that the VVRP program does not provide any financial assistance if you do not go with the first provider you take your vehicle to. The state officials were unable to reinstate me in the program because Greulich's is an approved VVRP vendor had not done anything "strictly illegal." But I was assured that in the upcoming Arizona legislative session they are hoping to introduce more consumer protections into the program. In the meantime, it's a "buyer beware" situation and you need to rely on your own research into the reputation of the vendor. In the end, even without the $550 VVRP contribution, I paid a fraction of the price at the alternate provider compared to the Greulich price. read more

I took my car in for an oil change and the next day I noticed it was leaking. I took it back and they said the bushing and arm was bad. Even though on the oil change inspection, the report said bushings were fine. My Honda Civic is only 5 years old. I was going out of town that day so I left my car with them. I had to have it when I got back to get to work so I had them fix the leak. They said I had to also replace the other bushing. What should have been a routine oil change ended up costing me about $800. I wish I would have taken it somewhere else for a second opinion but I felt stuck as I had to go out of town. The thing is my car wasn't making any kind of noise or any performance difference so I'm not comfortable with what happened there. I feel like I've been taken advantage of. I was quoted $49+ but was charged $75.91. The reason:" this is a Lexus and it takes extra oil." This meant that for the extra quart of oil they charged $26.00. I asked to do a general check, top off fluids, tire pressure, etc. as they say they do with the oil change. They did not. I commented that for a few more $$ I can take the car to the dealer and have a complete check, oil change and a car wash. " Well; here we charged you $76.00 and no car wash." I'm sure he meant to be funny but it really wasn't. The following day I asked to speak with Dustin. I was told he was doing an errand but he would call me later. 5 days later no one has called. Beware this place will try to scam you and take as much money as possible. I tried to setup an oil change for standard oil which I have done for the past 10 years and they told me "ford recommends semi synthetic or full synthetic oil so that's all we can do" making the price go from $20 to $60. I called ford dealership to confirm this and they said standard oil is fine and I'm currently getting my oil change at brake masters. Thank you for losing my business. read more
