We have a difficult time finding good Indian, Thai, Chinese and other global food in the SLO area. But we have discovered Mei's as of Christmas (and apparently so did many others - with a 1.5 hr wait for takeaway, which we took as a good sign of good food!!) I had the Veggie/Tofu Szechuan style and it didn't disappoint. Having had access to excellent Asian dishes in the Bay area for years, it's so great to finally find good food here now. We tried Mei's a few years back and didn't care for it. It was in those covid, take out days and it just didn't travel well apparently, because I recently went in for lunch. I had one of their lunch specials and wow, what a difference! The egg drop soup is fantastic and the best I think I've ever had. The veggies in my dish were cooked to perfection and little crispy like I like them. It was fresh, hot and oh so good. Their lunch specials are the perfect size for lunch. I can't wait to go back. I'm telling you, I've tried all the other Chinese food places from Paso to Santa Maria and couldn't find one I liked. I'm so glad I gave Mei's a second chance. Our favorite Chinese food closed last year. So we decided to go to Mei's and we've been there before but it's been a long time. We went around 530 and got in right away, and the service was fantastic. I believe one of the owners waited on us. We each had like a family dinner where you get to choose your rice, soup, and entrée. You do also get some appetizers. She talked us into getting potstickers. They were OK. I had a glass of plum wine and my husband had hot tea. They do have a few wines to choose from and beer. Glad we went when we did because it really got crowded. A lot of people were picking up meals that they had ordered online. The atmosphere is typical kind of a hole in the wall but it was nice and clean. we will definitely go back. read more

My family used to go here when I was a kid! I moved back a few years ago from LA and was so happy to find out it's still family owned and still delicious!! My husband and I love the Ku Ting Crispy Chicken, the Orange Chicken (tastes home made and fresh), the Chow Fun with Beef - my husband talked me into this one and I'll never go back to lo mein! The beef with broccoli is great. The Egg rolls are super fresh and delicious- totally hit the spot. If you're in the SLO area - this is the best spot for sure.
