    Pad Thai and Spring Roll
    John G.

Attended a conference in SLO and had a order DoorDashed to the Hotel SLO. The food came quickly and was very tasty. The spring rolls were so large had only one and saved the other for the next day. Definitely would like to try and eat at the restaurant. Food was very good.

Quality/Quantity - Pork Pad See Ew - My daughter's regular item; it was okay. Just enough for one person. Well if you are a big eater, there might not be enough food. Beef Pad Thai - My order. Similar to above. It was good, but just enough for one light eater. Yellow Curry Chicken - Good thing my daughter ordered this extra dish as we needed all the food. I am also glad my daughter liked this dish as I did not. It was not bad, just not a wow. I prefer my curry a little thicker. FYI - When you add meat to the above, it is $2 more each dish. Thai Green Tea - My daughter loves her Thai Tea, especially since she was NOT able to get it when we went to SLO Do Co Donuts; see other review. Atmosphere - Small local restaurant. Consistent business, almost a full house the entire time we were here. Clean restrooms. Plenty of mall parking. Open 6 days a week, from 11am or 11:30am to 8:30pm; closed Sundays. Service - Service service kiosk. The team seemed friendly. Price - $60 + tip. Reasonably priced for what we got. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1999 and at this location since 2006! I am surprised that my daughter has not taken us here before...?

Customer service and food was amazing! I appreciated the fact that we could order from a kiosk and be able to customize our order. We both ordered Pad Thai at different spice levels and Cream Cheese Wontons that were so good we didn't even have time to take a picture. Can't wait to go back!

Fresh rolls - packed full of veggies, good texture, and nice peanut sauce. I wish there was a bit more mint/herb flavor in the roll. Panay curry - nice portion, we got medium spicy but it wasn't spicy at all. Tom kha - again loved that this was packed with veg. Cabbage, carrots, and mushrooms. Lacked a bit of the intense tanginess I was looking for but perfectly tasty and great on a cold day.

Their curry is definitely impressive, it was my favorite between the two options that I got. I've also heard great things about their Panang Curry. You can order through the kiosk or with a worker. The restaurant is cozy with indoor seating. ig: cravingswithcaf

The food here was great! I used to work in a Thai restaurant I got the chicken satay and the Penang curry. I was very satisfied with the texture and sauces with the chicken satay and the curry was very creamy and flavorful...could use more spices. Overall everything was great and food came out very fast

Fried spring rolls and Tom Yum soup (16oz)

I like a more traditional, authentic Thai restaurant but this was more of a fast food version of Thai. They didn't have sticky rice, the fried springs rolls seemed to be frozen store bought, and the sweet chili sauce was sub-par. The Tom Yum soup was okay, fresh veggies and the shrimp was good, but was served luke warm. The service was prompt and the staff very polite but unfortunately, this place is not for me.

I opted to do a trio with the bahn mi, tip o' Argentina, and the garlic fries. The food was good I forgot to take a picture! The tip o' Argentina was solid with the garlic aioli and the chimmichurri perfectly complimenting the steak and the lettuce and tomato adding a little bit of freshness. The buns they use for all of their sliders are soft, slightly sweet, and don't fall apart while you're eating. The Bahn Mi was even better. I love pork but was a little skeptical about pulled pork on a slider riffing on the flavors of a bahn mi. To my surprise and delight, it tasted just like grilled Vietnamese pork, which was perfectly complimented by the fresh and pickled veggies and surprisingly hot jalapeño. Finally, I got the garlic fries which were a massive portion, crisp, and very garlicky. Everything was good and with such a large and customizable menu, I'd definitely return if I was in the area again. I also want to give a shout out to the bartender, Kelsey. I sat at the bar and her service was attentive and she was very knowledgeable about the menu. We got the opportunity to chat for a bit and I loved her vibe, so definitely consider sitting at the bar if you're dining solo or with a friend.

But the point is that she wasn't even nice about it and said OK fine I'll give you a menu. When I finally made my decision, I asked her if I needed it to be on the other line or the line that she was standing at and she retorted - please give me a minute. There was no kindness. There was no common courtesy, just a matter of fact approach to really, an out of towner, tourist, who's just trying to give her restaurant's food a shot. I'm just really shocked at the rudeness. I proceeded to order the flat Thai noodles with mung beans and chicken. It came. It was fresh. But honestly, it lacks any flavor. Sorry. It was a disappointment. I'm from South East Asia. I know what I'm talking about. I would be generous to give them a 3/5. Sorry. It's not very good food at all. Which means there's nothing to say about this place other than - step up your Thai food game. Or be nice at least.

You order at the counter and are given a number. Since they weren't very busy, they brought the food to my table, which I appreciated. The prices were on the high side, though fairly typical for many Vietnamese restaurants in California. I ordered the pork platter with rice and fried egg rolls. The portion size was about right. The rice was fine--nothing particularly memorable. The pork was a generous serving and had visible grill marks, but it didn't seem freshly grilled. It appeared to have been grilled previously and then reheated. It was served hot, but the texture and presentation were not what I would expect from freshly grilled meat. Fresh off the grill would have made a noticeable difference. The egg rolls were crispy on the outside, but the filling was dry and fairly unremarkable. They weren't bad, but they weren't a standout item either. The plate also came with iceberg lettuce, sliced tomato, cucumber, and pickled carrot and radish. The cucumber was fine, while the pickled vegetables were a bit more sour than I prefer. The biggest surprise was the dipping sauce for the egg rolls. Instead of the typical Vietnamese dipping sauce, which is usually one of my favorite parts of the meal, this version had quite a bit of chili added and was much spicier than expected. Some people may enjoy that, but it wasn't what I was anticipating. Overall, the meal was good, but not memorable enough to justify going out of my way for it. The prices felt a little high given the fast-food atmosphere. If I happened to be in the area again, I might stop in and give it another try, but I wouldn't make a special trip to return.

The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout our entire dinner, making the night feel even more special--they even had a beautiful fresh rose on the table. We ordered a variety of dishes, and most of them absolutely hit the mark: Crying Tiger: Absolutely fabulous! The steak was perfectly grilled, tender, and paired with a truly delicious dipping sauce. Mango Sticky Rice: An excellent way to finish the night. Not only did it taste amazing, but the heart-shaped presentation was stunning. Tofu Fried Rice: Very good, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Cashew Chicken: Loaded with fresh veggies and tender chicken, this was a huge hit. Chicken Teriyaki: Another very solid, delicious choice packed with fresh broccoli and savory sauce. The only slight letdown of the evening was the Drunken Noodles. While the noodles themselves had a great texture, they lacked a bit of the spice and punchy flavor we were hoping for. That minor critique aside, between the excellent service, cozy ambiance, and standout dishes like the Crying Tiger and Mango Sticky Rice, we will definitely be back!

They also gave us complementary bread before we received our meal, and a lot of the dishes were unique and plated well. I would come back if I'm ever in the area and would recommend this place to all my friends! All ratings below are averaged (from me and my bf): salmon bisque // 9.25 // very yummy and unique. my bf didn't think he'd like it -- he usually dislikes seafood -- but it was great!! creamy, clear salmon taste but no unpleasant fishy/ocean taste that a lot of seafood has. i've never had this anywhere else, props to the chef! thai green curry // 8.5 // my bf says it's a 9. it's good but i feel like it was not my fave, it's lowkey your good, standard green curry that you can get at any thai place duck breast (curry) // 8.75 // very delicious and unique, i'd rate the curry, rice, and duck breast as 9/10, the duck breast itself was a 10/10. the curry was creamy, and they were all delicious and fragrant, pairing well together. however, the mushrooms, carrots, and other veggies it came with are too sweet. they seem like they're glazed with a sauce that has too much sugar. the black rice was surprisingly very filling strawberry matcha trifle // 8 // yummy, nothing majorly wrong with it. reminds me of a strawberry matcha latte. matcha whipped cream was a nice, unique touch i haven't really seen elsewhere despite it not sounding difficult to make. i'd order it again but i feel like it's on the sweeter side, so you can't eat too much of it.

Food: started off with the brussel sprouts and man, those were so so good. Brussel sprouts, goat cheese, pancetta, etc. you get what I'm saying. Flash fried perfectly. We had the salmon bisque and Soup De Novo, which was a vegetable curry soup. These both could have essentially been meals. The salmon bisque was absolutely loaded with salmon. From what I heard about it, it tasted amazing. (I don't eat salmon). The vegetable curry soup was very flavorful and blended smoothly. If you ordered rice on the side, it would have been just like an entire meal. Tikki Masala Chicken - man, that airline chicken was cooked perfectly. Juicy and tender, great flavor, no a single thing wrong with it. The rice and vegetables were fantastic, especially the carrots. I don't know why they seemed extra good, but they were. 2 orders of the Ribeye. Once cooked medium and mine, cooked medium rare. Unfortunately, when mine came out, I immediately could tell that it was nowhere near cooked right. It was actually well done. When the waiter came back, I said "I'm sorry to have to do this..." and before I could finish he said "oh yea, that's definitely not medium rare, let me have the kitchen refire that for you". I dislike sending food back, but when you're spending $58 on a ribeye dinner, it HAS to be correct. (Note- the manager remedied the issue quick..came to the table, offered soup, bread, etc, which I had already eaten soup, so he comped 50% off the steak. Nice gesture!) The rest of the vegetables paired with the ribeye were very good. If someone told you the white bean puree was mashed potatoes, most people would believe it. Very creamy and delicious. The Italian salsa verde on top was also very fulfilling. Overall the dinner was very good.
