PAD ZEE EWW CRISPY TOFU, PAD ZEE EWW PORK BELLY, FRIED RICE CHICKEN, GREEN PAPAYA SALAD

So good! Probably the most authentic Thai restaurant in SLO. Ordered two Pad See Ew. One with pork belly, and the other with fried tofu. The pork belly was nice and thinly sliced. The fried tofu was fried and delicious. I love how it had there was gai lan vegetable in it. That's how you know it's authentic. The other Thai restaurants usually put broccoli and carrot. It has that perfect smoky flavor, which I absolutely love. Ordered the Thai style papaya salad. It was very good! Had green beans in it and spinach as a topping. You can just tell they're not holding back on certain ingredients. Perfect sourness and umami. The fried rice was really good as well. We bought that for our toddler. He's usually very picky, but he sure ate this one! Another thing that definitely confirmed that they're authentic? The chili sauce they provided on the side! That perfect sauce that us southeast Asians eat with steak and seafood! Sooooo goood!! I would like a whole bottle if you offer that. Again, I've never tried a Thai restaurant in SLO that had this type of sauce provided. Coming from the Central Valley, this really hit home. Overall, yes I recommend this place 100%. We would definitely order from here again.

    Drunken Noodles and Har Gow

My husband and I were walking to the Bao place, but the menu caught our eyes. It's been really difficult for us to find good Asian food out in the Central Coast. We decided to give it a shot and we were SO pleasantly surprised. We got medium heat, and although it wasn't spicy enough for us, we were still shook that we felt a bit of a kick from it! (All the places we've eaten at on the CC so far lacked the spiciness from back home.) The Har Gow was actually really tasty as well! We're not big eaters, but we finished EVERYTHING! We're so excited to come back with our friends!

    Mystery slime protein

Worst Thai food of my life. The tom Kha came with slimy mystery protein, def not chicken, canned brown caps, no straw mushrooms and the sweetest least flavorful broth I've ever had? 0/10 :( do not recommend

The perfect lunch I happened to stumble upon on my first visit to the SLO public market! As I walked around deciding what I wanted, I saw their sign for a special, green curry, and had to try it ---green curry: DELICIOUS I hope this isn't a temporary special! The level of spicy was perfect (although probably too spicy for other people, but this is how I like my thai food). I also LOVE their addition of a fried curl topping Will be coming back next time I'm in town to try their other dishes!

    Agreed!

Located in the SLO Public Market. Very friendly and patient worker as we contemplated our options throughout the market. Nice spot for us to discover driving up north from SoCal! And oh yeah the Pad Thai was excellent and the Thai Tea was tasty and kept me awake driving. Spent around $25. Not fancy, but clean and friendly vibes in a public market environment. 5 stars for a public market establishment!

Pad Zee Ew with Pork Belly (10/10!)

**Visited on Sat. 4/27/2024 I've been meaning to try Baht for awhile, and to be honest, I'm mad that I haven't tried it sooner. I loved the conveniency of the self kiosk, but the owner still checked in on me and my boyfriend while ordering which was super kind of him! Baht is located within SLO Public Market, and if you're entering from the Tractor Supply entrance, you'll see Baht right away! There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, but there's also the option for take out. It can get a bit loud indoors, but if you're coming in during non rush hours, it's quite calm and nice. OKAY THE FOOD: My usual go to Thai food is pad see ew- it's just as good as Pad thai, but the thick noodles just taste better imo. My boyfriend had ordered pad thai with shrimp and it was pretty tasty! My pad see ew with pork belly was pretty delicious- I loved how there was a nice balance of noodles, protein and veggies! I noticed on the kiosk that you're able to adjust your food and change out ingredients (e.g., instead of pork belly you could do beef or tofu; there was an option to have with or without eggs/ veggies). I definitely plan on coming back- there's a few other items I want to try and I gotta try their thai tea!

    Crispy Tofu Pad Thai

This restaurant is inside SLO Public Market and parking can be limited. I was warmly greeted right away and questions were answered in a nice, professional manner. I ordered the silken tofu, veggie egg rolls and crispy tofu pad Thai. The silken tofu had a great flavor with a hint of spice. I liked the texture of the tofu and would definitely order it again. The egg rolls were crispy but not saturated with oil. The dipping sauce added additional flavors. The pad Thai had enough spice to taste it but didn't overwhelm the dish. The flavor was on point and I cannot wait to go back.

This place is a MUST if you are in the SLO Public market. If you're a Thai food lover, or a Thai tea lover, give Baht a try. I have to say it's my favorite on the central coast. The owner was there when we came by and was so friendly and accommodating, he gave us a sample of their Pandan refresher and it was just what we needed on a hot day. The pad see ew was delicious, the spice is on the side so you can adjust to your liking. I'd have preferred more pork belly but it was cooked well. The pad Thai was hands down the best I've had in the US. The flavors were authentic and well-developed (you can tell they use real tamarind). That and the Thai tea were my favorite purchases that day. The seating on the top floor can't be missed, definitely one of my favorite meals in a long time!

You can order at the kiosk or with a person.

We ordered the Tom Kaw & Papaya Salad. Reasonable portions served cafeteria style, they were good. The Tom Kaw Soup was a light sweet broth with sweet plump shrimp (they add an extra amount for shrimp). I only wish there had been more cabbage. Seasoned well, a good soup. The salad was delicious with crisp thin papaya, tomatoes and a tasty sauce. It's also served with fresh spinach leaves. They were busy but service was quick & friendly. It's at the Public Market & we sat inside, so no ambiance really. It's also pretty loud, so if that bugs you, you might try eating outside or taking it home. Bathrooms available & clean. Parking can be difficult at times.

    Pad Thai with vegan duck

Located in the SLO Public Market, Baht is a good choice for vegetarians. My daughter and I visited on a Saturday evening. Parking was easy. Seating was plentiful. There was no wait to order. Vegetarian options included items with a choice of tofu, vegan duck or veggies. We opted for the Pad Thai with vegan duck and the Papaya Salad with tofu (customized order). The wait for our food was a little longer than we expected but it was with the wait. The Pad Thai was perfectly spicy and the salad was delicious. Portion size was good. Pricing was reasonable. Service was outstanding. The gentleman who took our order was patient, friendly and very helpful.

I will definitely be returning to Baht when I need my fix of Pad Thai! I wanted to try it ever since the new SLO Public Market opened, and I invited a buddy out for lunch to share the experience. I like the whole experience at the SLO market, but it is all basically take-out food, and there is a bit of do0it0yourself involved! We met for a late lunch at one o'clock and sure enough, it wasn't too crowded. Time goes slowly when you are standing up waiting for your order. I got Pad Thai, since I eat it at every Thai restaurant I go to and love to try whatever take the place has on a traditional favorite! This was very very good Pad Thai, a large serving with a hearty flavor. The amount of spice was just right, some heat, but not smoldering! I do prefer a bit more greenery and more peanuts on top, but this Pad Thai hit the spot. My buddy got the chicken with noodles, and it was a generous portion with sublime spice also. The spicy, homey food had us slurping away in approved noodle-style eating! We loved eating outside at a picnic table, even though it was a really windy day. The SLO market was crowded, with people of all ages from toddlers to retirees running around and sampling the cornucopia of goods on offer. SLO Public Market continues to be a moveable feast, and I look forward to exploring more.

Baht & Tanya, the owner, are real winners. Amazing fresh Thai eats with great service.

Local Take: Wow...great Homestyle Thai food in a food court in SLO-town...along with fresh reasonably priced eats! Who would have predicted this? Not me. While there are tons of Thai places in SLO County, it is really hard to find homestyle food...and the only one that this place rivals is a tiny Farmers Market vendor who also crafts homemade eats. Baht not only is homestyle but puts modern twists on both food prep. & the menu itself. My Thai Curry came out simply dreamy, along with a puffed egg on top [which was new to me]. The Curry has a long name, which was Pinto Box Pork Shoulder Jungle Curry. It was a perplexing name, but after a few tentative nibbles, I just engulfed it like the old "Blob" movie...in which a relative played the staring role decades ago...JK. I initially wanted the soup, but they were out, and Pad Thai sounded a bit too pedestrian...so PBPSJC was it. I did wolf down some yummy Mushroom Char Sui Bing's Bao Buns from next door as an appetizer before the PBPSJC, and they really complimented each other. Not to mention washing it all down with Perfect Scoop's Buffalo Expresso & Cherry Icecream afterward. What a nice way to cool off after a moderately spicey curry meal. Bahts curry was just the right balance of spicey, savory, & complexity. They also had the right amount of Jasmine Rice with the fresh food. The curry was so yummy that I did not even take one pic of it! In the kitchen itself, they had some ultramodern rotating Wok-like drums that they quick cooked their wonderful eats. Super cool & super yummy. This is yet another place in this food court that will see a lot of me! Thanks for the wonderful eats!

Did not come to SLO or this food market thinking I'd have the best pad Thai I've ever eaten. It was perfectly balanced with sweet, salty and some spice. Definitely more expensive pad Thai compared to a sit down Thai restaurant but the flavor does not disappoint. The noodles don't stick together like many times when you do Thai takeaway. Would definitely recommend. Only item we tried and alongside is the pizza from next door.

For food, we ordered two orders of the chicken satay, the pad thai, yellow curry, and two mango sticky rice desserts to share. Overall, the food was delicious. The chicken satay was probably my least favorite dish of everything we ordered, but it was still good. The standouts for us were definitely the Pad Thai and the yellow curry. The real star of the meal, however, was the mango sticky rice. It was one of the best versions I've had. What made it special was how balanced it was the coconut cream and sticky rice had a savory taste that paired well with the sweet mango perfectly. Many mango sticky rice desserts I've tried are overwhelmingly sweet, but this one had great balance and the mangoes were perfectly ripe and sweet. All five of us absolutely loved it. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the service. The staff were friendly, but not very attentive. My friends and I are Filipinos, we typically eat our meals with a spoon and fork. When our food arrived, we immediately asked for spoons, but they never came. We ended up making do with just our forks for the entire meal. The server checked on us a little after receiving our meals and asked how everything tasted, but after that we rarely saw anyone until we were nearly finished. There were a few things we requested that never made it to the table. Overall, the food was excellent and I would definitely come back, especially for the mango sticky rice. The service wasn't bad, but a little more attentiveness would have made the experience much better.

You order at the counter and are given a number. Since they weren't very busy, they brought the food to my table, which I appreciated. The prices were on the high side, though fairly typical for many Vietnamese restaurants in California. I ordered the pork platter with rice and fried egg rolls. The portion size was about right. The rice was fine--nothing particularly memorable. The pork was a generous serving and had visible grill marks, but it didn't seem freshly grilled. It appeared to have been grilled previously and then reheated. It was served hot, but the texture and presentation were not what I would expect from freshly grilled meat. Fresh off the grill would have made a noticeable difference. The egg rolls were crispy on the outside, but the filling was dry and fairly unremarkable. They weren't bad, but they weren't a standout item either. The plate also came with iceberg lettuce, sliced tomato, cucumber, and pickled carrot and radish. The cucumber was fine, while the pickled vegetables were a bit more sour than I prefer. The biggest surprise was the dipping sauce for the egg rolls. Instead of the typical Vietnamese dipping sauce, which is usually one of my favorite parts of the meal, this version had quite a bit of chili added and was much spicier than expected. Some people may enjoy that, but it wasn't what I was anticipating. Overall, the meal was good, but not memorable enough to justify going out of my way for it. The prices felt a little high given the fast-food atmosphere. If I happened to be in the area again, I might stop in and give it another try, but I wouldn't make a special trip to return.

Thairiffic hits my bay area food snob craving on every level. Ironically, this was the last of the Thai restaurants I tried, and for good reason. It looks dinky and drab from the outside. The name is a dad joke (which I love). Visiting on a random weekday evening, the place was close to empty. As far as appearances go, the place didn't give much to hope for. However, I was beyond pleasantly surprised after receiving my order for pad see ew + pad thai. There were three things immediately apparent that made Thairiffic stand out: 1. Unlike (almost) every other Thai place, Thairiffic honored my request for maximum spice. There is a definite kick for their "Thai hot" level. 2. Unlike (almost) every other Thai place, the Pad Thai had a balanced flavor profile. Other places DOUSE the pad thai in sugar - yuck. This was a Pad Thai with savoriness, saltiness, sweetness, sourness, and spice. Yum. 3. The pad see ew had a distinct wok hei + golden mountain sauce flavor. Nice! I will also say that the shrimp in the pad thai was decently flavorful - same with the beef in the pad see ew. This is in contrast to the often "secondhand slap on" approach to the meats/proteins that I've had at other Thai places. Lastly, the price point here is I think the lowest of all the Thai places I've tried. If I could, I'd give it another star for that alone! The pad kee mao was okay. I think I'll stick to the pad thai and pad see ew. There's a decently sized menu with many other options (eg kao soi) which I'm excited to try. Above all else, I'm happy to find a go-to Thai place that hits the spot in SLO!
