    My Szechuan

Food is ok but doesn't match the website at all. I ordered the house sizzling special and Szechuan wontons. In the website phot they are clearly steamed yet my order is deep fried. I've never had them deep fried in this dish. No idea where the website photos come from. The house sizzling special isn't remotely the same as the website. I won't be going back.

The server/owner was friendly and helpful. The food- General Tso chicken and Black Dragon chicken were our dinner entrees. Both entrees were hot and fresh. Black dragon meal had a little too much vinegar but was still fine. The owner was very kind and even brought us complimentary crab rangoon to try and they were very good. The egg roll was also good and fresh. We were the only patrons in the restaurant. The eating area had some flies that grossed us out and we had to shoo away from our food, until we eventually left. We also went to this restaurant for a to-go order of steamed chicken & vegetables and a quart of chicken noodle soup. The chicken & vegetables were great with the sauce on the side- especially when traveling and health conscience. The soup was okay- it was packed with udon noodles (didn't look like the menu photo at all) and did not have a lot of chicken in it. The owners are very nice and I like to support local, independent businesses, where the owners care about whether you return and want to make your visit enjoyable. When in town, I will return for a to-go order. * A couple of suggestions to owners: make sure to have bug catchers installed and away from patrons and remove the big storage cardboard boxes from the dining room. Patrons want a pleasant environment while dining.

I have eaten here before and the food was good, so I was extremely disappointed with my last take out order. To make matters worse, I emailed the restaurant with no reply, so opted to post this. What I received was not anything like the photos. The ribs were tiny little pieces and the hard fried dumplings were drenched in a thick red sauce. I ended up throwing it all out.

Such a hidden gem in the Jewett City/Griswold area. Though the wait time is a little long, the food is worth the wait. It is one of the best Chinese restaurants in the local area. We order lots of food for our break at work. Everything was moist, salty, and super tasty. I recommend this place for anyone in the area or farther looking for good take out. The owner is super sweet and free food is given with your meals!

This is my second time trying this place and they have not disappointed me. I got the beef with broccoli dinner which came with pork fried rice and an egg roll. Some of the best Chinese food in the area!

I noticed the people working were not the usual owner and his wife. I don't know if the place is under new ownership or if these are employees but the end result were portion sizes approximately 1/2 of what they had previously been. The large spare ribs are $13.95, used to be served in a square take out box that was FULL with ribs. Tonight the box was 1/2 the previous size and contents comparable in size to what a small order used to be. The "large" house lo mein was served in a tiny little box. The only thing that was not 1/2 the size as it used to be were the egg rolls. I hate to slam a local place and my previous reviews of Imperial Palace have always been positive but tonight I was NOT satisfied. What was served was grossly overpriced compared to the portion size of an order a few months ago. I've been a customer since this place opened and I will give them another shot but if tonight is the indication of a new business model, this business is going to fail.....

The low point was the tofu. It was mediocre. I prefer my tofu dipped in cornstarch and fried so it has a little coating and gets crispy in spots, this was plain. The sauce was good, though, not sickly-sweet like other places around. And they actually gave us extra broccoli, which we always order but rarely get. The fried rice and the lo mein were both the best I've had in recent memory. Very flavorful and full of veggies. Even the spring rolls, which I swear every place must get from the same supplier because they're always identical, tasted a bit fresher. Ever since China Moon changed I've been on the hunt for a new regular Chinese takeout spot, and I think this is it. If they added scallion pancakes to the menu and fixed the tofu, I'd give them five stars!

I could literally eat my body weight in these! Pro tip: dip them in the spicy Chinese mustard & then into the duck sauce - sweet, heat, crunch... perfection! From the dim sum menu, we ordered the deep fried taro dumplings, steamed shrimp dumplings & our favorite, stir-fried Chinese broccoli with garlic. I wish we had more people so we could order more dim sum items to share! From the regular menu, hubby ordered the lunch combo #14: jumbo shrimp with vegetables, golden fingers, fried rice & egg roll. He loved it & said he would definitely order it again. Golden Palace is an easy add-on if you are at Mohegan Sun! Bonus: dim sum is available daily, which is always a win in my book. The wait is fun, there are lots of meme type signs to read, a stream of beautiful landscapes & photos of folks enjoying food on the TV, and always great music playing. I was pleased that it was worth the visit. There is a large interior but they informed me that they only use it for waiting for your take out. They were nice enough to let me eat a few bites while seated. Speaking of, the people here are indeed quite friendly. Food tried: Wonton soup, crab rangoons, chicken fingers, scallion pancakes, boneless ribs, pork fried rice, beef and broccoli, and lemon chicken. The wonton soup, scallion pancakes, fried rice, and beef and broccoli all had good flavor. The fingers and ribs were meaty and cooked just right so they weren't dry or chewy. Unfortunately not all the food was that great. The crab rangoons were just cream cheese wontons. Crispy but no flavor. The lemon chicken had the sauce come separately from the chicken, and when it was delivered I thought it was another soup. That is how watery it was, and the flavor was similarly watery. While the hunt for good crab rangoons continues, the majority of the food, plus the people, makes this a good choice for your American Chinese food desires.
