As vegan travelers, it is often challenging to find food that is both filling and flavorful. To our…read moredelight, we discovered Love It Vegan while visiting Torrington for a wedding. We stopped in on our very first day for a late lunch and tried a variety of items, including the chowder, Caesar salad, fried oyster mushrooms, sandwiches, and a fresh juice. Everything was outstanding - fresh, flavorful, generous, and clearly made with quality ingredients. Coming from the Bay Area, we also found the prices very reasonable. The staff and owner were warm and welcoming, and we loved seeing photos of animals from local sanctuaries displayed throughout the restaurant. We enjoyed our lunch so much that we ordered breakfast from Love It Vegan on the next two mornings. The omelets were hearty and delicious, and the home fries were perfectly crispy and well seasoned--no ketchup or sauce needed. Love It Vegan is truly a gem. Whether you're vegan or simply looking for a great meal, this place is well worth a visit. We wish them a long and prosperous future and look forward to returning the next time we're in the area.

I had an outstanding birthday dinner at Foglia on Friday with my parents. The fresh pasta made…read morein-house is incredible and everything on the menu is vegan and delicious, even to my somewhat picky omnivore dining partners :). Everyone who works there is friendly and inviting, and even gave us a cute little amuse to start the night and the buckwheat shortbread to end. Here's everything we ordered: Agnolotti stuffed with tofu ricotta, with English peas, bacon, and a savory broth (my entree, I loved this - the broth was quite salty but the peas added a lovely freshness) Fazzoletti e funghi: local blue oyster mushrooms in a white wine cream sauce ‍ (my Mom's entree, also delicious and so umami) "Ivy rose" mocktail with grapefruit, prickly pear, and limeade (delightful!) Appetizers: fried squash blossoms stuffed with tofu ricotta in pomodoro sauce, and housemade focaccia with a trio of whipped butters (thyme and shallot, Calabrian chili, and smoked sweet onion). The ratio of butter to focaccia was more than double what we could use (we ordered more focaccia to spread it on!) but both of these apps were perfect. Foglia burger: house burger patty, tomato jam, garlic aioli, lettuce, onions, pickles, onion ring, housemade focaccia, and spicy agave parsnip fries (my dad's entree and to my delight he really enjoyed it!) Dessert: a gigantic slice of tiramisu (my favorite cake!). This was a huge slab, enough to share and have some leftover for breakfast. A little on the dry side for tiramisu but still really nice. Foglia is such a gem and we had a great time in Bristol, it's a beautiful town. The restaurant is small and cozy but was not too busy when we went. I highly recommend Foglia for a special occasion!

I SO badly wanted to love it but I just can't give the place above a 2 star. The first thing they…read morebrought was almost comical: a nickel-sized square of focaccia with a bit of jam and cheese. I have never in my life been served what I'd consider half a bite of food. I'd almost rather they bring nothing at all than a comically small piece of bread. My food (basil pesto pasta) was good but the quantities are quite small, especially for the price. TLDR: Don't come hungry or on a budget. The real reason for the low rating was the $34 mushroom entree. "Potatoes" here just means two bites of potato, which is kind of crazy considering how cheap potatoes are. "Carrots" meant 4 (kind of sad) carrots, and the mushroom (the main part of the dish) was so small it was comical. My dad was disappointed (he also wanted to love it here) and when they asked how it was, he gave his honest feedback. The waitress took the info back and he repeated his thoughts to the manager about the disappointing portion. He said he only got like two bites of potato and she said "oh they weren't in pyramids?" (Like that resolves the quantity of food?) He repeated again that it was about the quantity and was told "No one has said that about this." I suppose people must only have thought it... Felt really dismissive to say to someone, especially because this plate was apparently new (they said today was the first day they had it). They didn't comp anything or even discount it after the manager came over, which I feel like is standard practice when folks are unhappy with their meal. Felt like she just wanted to shut down the complaint rather than resolve it. They brought us, at the end of the meal, a "thank you" which was 2 lemon candies... there were 3 of us (not that we really wanted them anyway, but weird to not give at least one per person). The atmosphere is relaxed, the place is quite small in a sweet way and it's tucked away from the street, but I will never return. Ridiculous pricing for tiny portions. It felt like a SNL skit.

I ended up going with the Big Boy because I already had my eye on it and it did not disappoint! Burger was seasoned, juicy, so yummy! I had the sweet potato fries, and a strawberry shake, which I haven't had since before becoming vegan, that shake?! Oh my goodness, I'll be in for another tomorrow!!! Wow. Mind blown! The service was speedy, and the place is so cute, a whole vibe, and super clean inside! I'm visiting CT for the weekend so they'll see me maybe two more times before I head home! Great place. Glad to have made it!

In my heart of hearts, I want to gatekeep Soulfully Vegan, but I know it would be a disservice to…read morethe world if I did that. I visited the Soulfully Vegan's stand at the Big E last night, and let me tell you, it was an experience that changed my life! We had the chance to meet Alison, one of the co-owners of this amazing truck. She was super friendly and had this warm energy about her. She answered all our questions, and I really appreciated that. Now, I usually don't eat anything when I go to the Big E because everything there is deep-fried and heavy. But this truck totally changed my mind. I was curious about the big dog, which is a vegan hotdog with vegan cheese, vegan bacon, and jalapeños. I was surprised to learn that all the meats and cheeses were vegan. (I know that probably sounds silly considering it's a vegan truck, but that's is such a rare find in Massachusetts.) I'm not a vegan, but I do enjoy vegan products. I don't eat pork or beef products, so I can't usually eat hotdogs when I go to Fenway or any other event. But the big dog exceeded my expectations! Every bite was a chef's kiss. The hotdog tasted authentic, with a perfect balance of saltiness. The crispy bacon, evenly spread cheese, and the perfectly warmed bun all complemented each other, creating a harmonious symphony of flavors. Alison was so sweet that she even offered us a strawberry milkshake. The strawberry milkshake was hands down the best milkshake I've ever had. The consistency was ideal for a milkshake. It was the ideal level of sweetness and the little chunks of strawberry sent me over the edge. I thought I was going to die and go to heaven. I cannot say enough good things about their food and customer service. If you plan to go to the Big E or venture to central Connecticut, then you have to stop by and check them out. I hope this business continues to thrive! I can't wait for you to open a truck or spot in Boston. I'm sending you all of my good vibes and manifesting it for both of us!

Smaller shared parking lot to be mindful of here. Very welcoming staff that provided a great overview of the menu, drinks, made to take items and weekly specials. Casual relaxed atmosphere here with some music jamming in the background. Window bar seating if you are on your own or tables for four if meeting for a quick lunch bite. Started with a small chili which was fresh and full of flavor. For the main went with the Tuesday special with the recommended fish tacos (hearts of palm layered with nori flakes, crisp grated carrot, and shredded purple cabbage and a sliced jalapeño. Crispy tortilla with side of beans and rice). You can add a fresh pico and guac for additional prices, had both and were delicious! Assortment of drinks in the fridge along with some premade items (staff said it is rotational items and prepped earlier in the week if you want to max your options). After eating here can see what all the buzz was for a standout vegan option on island. A group came in after me and ordered a pizza that looked awesome as well. When you enter, there's a counter and a bell with a sign to ring it when you need help. There was a couple already inside of Sprout and Lentil perusing the menu. A woman came to the counter and sat us at different outdoor tables after taking our orders. Next time, I would get the burger that my husband ordered. I was envious as soon as the plate hit our table. My Cobb Salad was good, but the burger and fries were where it was at. Luckily, the fried cauliflower appetizer that we shared was really good.
