It's hard to find good food places in Seattle. The food is good, BUT.... I was turned off after a few visits. I went a total of 4-5 times. The first Visit was a great experience which led to me coming back but every visit after they seemed to have gotten something wrong or did something that seemed questionable as far as the cleanliness of the food. My last visit, was a call in and pick up order with my friend. The restaurant forgot to put one of the items in the bag-- no big deal. We called them and they told us to come back the following day since we got the order right before closing and had drove home and they were closed by then. My friend went to the restaurant the next day and they gave the same fried crab Rangoon's from the prior day that they forgot to put in my bag. We know because they were cold, not hot and the box cracked open, likely to let out the steam last night but that means the box was left open all night. This turned me all the way off... as there has to be some sort of health code for giving a customer a day old fried fish instead of just recooking the item that you forgot to place in the bag. read more

For 15 years this was my go to for pad Thai. The orders always had the carrot, green onion, cabbage and lime you mixed in. Something changed just over a year ago. No longer is fresh vegetables added. Just mushy noodles. I kept trying thinking it was a new cook issue but I guess vegetables are too expensive. I will look elsewhere. read more

I'm picky about my Thai food so I'm always a bit hesitant trying a new place but, YUM!! Ordered pick up after an evening of paddle boarding. I got the shrimp fresh rolls and pad see ew tofu. They gave a lot of broccoli with the pad see ew and both dishes were so flavorful! I also appreciated that they cut the fresh rolls in half and wrapped them in Saran Wrap so they last better overnight. The total came to $25, which was cheaper than other places I've been to. A 5-Star Chicken Pad Thai is my litmus test when trying a new, typical North American Thai restaurant. I look for a distinctly balanced tamarind flavor with sweet, sour notes, balanced by the heat offered by my indicated spice level, and noodles with some char. Bonus points for lime wedge and bean sprouts, but most places have been cutting corners by omitting the lime (disappointing), and substituting with cabbage/carrots (not ideal, but acceptable). I ordered this, and crab rangoons (for texture!) to go on an unassuming Tuesday. Starting with the good--crab rangoons were great, and I really enjoyed the texture of these ones. Nice and crispy, with good amount of filling. The Pad Thai at first bite, I knew was not it. Not really any evidence of char, and a tad sweet. It wasn't bad, and it tasted familiar, but I couldn't quite name it until my very last bite. It tasted absolutely IDENTICAL to the bottled Mae Ploy Pad Thai sauce I used to buy years ago during my early attempts to make it at home. It could be a coincidence, sure, but if they really are using the bottled stuff, that's definitely disappointing. I'm not sure I'd return, at least not for the Pad Thai. For what it's worth, staff was very kind and efficient, and they seemed to have a steady stream of take out orders while I was waiting. read more

This used to be my favorite - go to - Thai Restaurant. Just a heads up, something has changed. Twice in the last three months I've ordered Cashew Chicken and it was suprisingly sub par. It contained big hunks of carrots and celery - some chicken and red peppers - a few cashews and nowhere near the dish I have enjoyed in the past. Chada Thai is a very good Thai restaurant with the standard Thai menu, except, this time of year they offer a pumpkin curry that I could eat every day forever. If you've never eaten stewed pumpkin before you are in for a treat. It's a bit like butternut squash or other winter squashes. The only other place in Seattle that has this dish is Sea Thai in Wallingford, our old neighborhood. Chada Thai is great! They are happy to turn up the spice on some dishes and hold back on others as you wish. They are a hidden gem. read more

I visited Chada Thai a few years ago and at the time I found it very run of the mill with nothing stand out but solid classic Thai offerings. I just went for dinner and it was a whole new experience. I'm not sure if they changed kitchen staff or something else but the food has SO MUCH FLAVOR now compared to what I had before. It took me back to Thailand. Staff were so friendly and welcoming and overall I had a great experience that really wowed me. I'm excited to return soon! read more

We have eaten here multiple times and had a consistent experience each time (mostly taking food out). The food was great tastes amazing. But a major downside is it takes FOREVER for the food to be made. Our most recent experience they had lost our phone order after calling in. Especially on a busy Friday night, if you are ordering out I would recommend ordering 45min-1hour before picking up. They definitely need a more organized kitchen and better admin skills for better service. But the food is soooooo gooood!! read more

We noticed this place when we got take out form the teriyaki place next door. Then I googled its menu and set my mind to try out their food. Finally we got takeout from here after a weekend road trip. All food was amazing!! We ordered over the phone and they made sure that we knew the direction to get there. Very thoughtful! We tried four items: phad Thai, chili pepper fried rice, crispy garlic chicken, Tom yum soup. They were all so good! We usually get shrimp and they were generous with the portion. Food is good for the price. I ordered tofu pad thai, phad green beans, and saute eggplants. Each dish was about $15. The pad thai tasted good but I prefer my pad thai to have more veggies (like bean sprouts and green onions). It was mostly noodles, tofu, peanuts, and egg. The green beans were nice and crunchy but not very flavorful. The eggplants were delish. I did a pick up order and service was nice and fast. Definitely hole in the wall vibes. Tasty food but best of all WONDERFUL customer service to my three young children and I! Elder who co-owns the restaurant was there and full of compliments, sweetness and support towards my kids and the servers swiftly accommodated everything the kids needed or could use. No one batted an eye when my 3yo got squirmy and started pushing chairs around, in fact the elder gentlemen sweetly invited her to push him in one too! I go to Ichi Roll quite a bit and have been wanting to try Chada Thai. Finally decided to order from there and was sorely disappointed. We ordered Lad Nar and Prawn Delight along with the crispy spring rolls. The spring rolls were the only thing we were really satisfied with. The Prawn Delight was a small portion of a dry 'sauce' covering pre-cooked, tail on shrimp (can definitely tell). The lad nar, I got about an ounce of noodles with a quart of sauce and about a 1/2 cup of beef and broccoli. Might've been an ok lunch portion, but for dinner, not enough at all. The lady at the host stand was kind, and the restaurant looked nice and cozy, but will never, ever eat from here again. Their motto should be "come hungry, leave hungry" read more

"It was a dark and stormy night..." my wife was in the hospital, very sick (not Covid, thank the stars, but we didn't know that at the time) and I was beyond hungry, stressed, and out of my geographical comfort zone. Needed some comfort food, stat. So I call a buddy who lives nearby. He says, "Go to Chada Thai. They're a family favorite! My kids beg for their Phad Thai!" I thought, "My kids begged for Chucky Cheese, so is that good advice?" Turns out it was. The Chicken Phad Thai was delicious and not ketchupy, as I was expecting. The Larb was slightly overdressed but otherwise excellent. Service was social distanced and polite, food ready exactly on time, fragrant and inviting. I ate in the parking lot, in the pouring rain, delicious food easing my nerves and warming me with three-star spices, head to toe. If you find yourself in North Seattle, there are hundreds of worse choices. It might not be the best Thai you've ever eaten, but when you're desperate just for SOMETHING to go right, someone or something to just not let you down on your version of the "dark and stormy night"...these folks deliver. I am super picky about my Thai food. Strictly observing Covid restrictions, I have been relying on many neighbourhood restaurants to feed me on those nights that I'm simply tired of cooking. Chada Thai has provided some sound Thai food. I especially love their Larb Gai (ordered it twice now) and their Cashew Chicken/Pad Thai lunch combination. I found that was enough food for a lunch and a teatime snack! Garlic Chicken is also of note. That has been ordered before but seemingly too hungry to stop and take a photo. I guess that means I'll be having some Chada soon JUST to get a photo of that dish. Support local business during this difficult time. Oh yes my local neighborhood Thai place (Ok it's one of my 4 local favorites)! The only place that does Crispy Garlic Chicken as good as Buddha Ruksa in West Seattle! They have a great Panang Curry and Phad Thai as well. Have eaten here many many times over the last several years and I keep coming back for more because it's reliably delicious and consistent. I got takeout here. The Tom yum soup was delicious but everything else was just meh. The drunken noodles and eggplant both lacked flavor. The Thai basil chicken was also just ok-it didn't have a ton of flavor and had almost an entire onion in it. More onion than chicken or anything else. I wouldn't go back. read more

My go-to local Thai place, and for good reason. Sure you walk in, and wonder what exactly all the other yelpers have written, you wonder, is the food going to be interesting, tasty, and worth your time? You question why the owner/headmistress there is a fast talker, and perhaps your "Tiger Mom"? What did you do? Well, the decision is made, the die was cast, and you are here. Good Decision. True that 99% of the time, I'm here for the takeout, and yes, the portions are nice, they are flavourful, and it's overly spicy.. (I'm talking to you, the person that thinks they are can do 4 stars).. not here, because burning face off.. is your payment for that request. So what do we like here? We almost always get the Seafood Fresh Rolls, but substitute the Special Chef's Chili Sauce, with Peanut Sauce. The Thai Curries is what I normally get, and they are all pretty much onpoint. Spice levels are key, flavours are pronounced, and boom, throw that some rice, and you have a meal. My wife gets the Phad Kee Mao, which is layered with noodles, vegetables, meat, and the "special" chili sauce, which is filling and just what the soul needs. Actually, everything is pretty good here, and yes, the decor in the place might need some sprucing up, but you can overlook that, with great prices, perfect portions and delicious food. read more

This is without a doubt the worst Thai food I have ever eaten. The red curry sauce was like water and just next to flavorless and the pork obviously wasn't prepared with the sauce. The jasmine rice wasn't jasmine and whatever it was was overcooked and sticky. And the crab rangoon? Umm.... was is really made with crabmeat? Only the cook (I won't call them a chef) would know. Tasteless as well. The sauce the crispy garlic chicken was swimming in was too thick and overpowered the chicken itself. Not worth the money I spent by any means. To top it off every box was somewhat smashed and had broken open. Did the DoorDash driver just throw this bag in the back seat? Just terrible service considering I gave her a $20.00 tip. Review in the Time of Covid - I've been ordering via DoorDash with no problem, though order ahead if you want dinner on a Friday during 6-7pm. The food is very good! So good! The best I've had in a long time. Seriously, this food gets to my house absolute perfect. The fried and sticky garlic chicken is the perfect texture and flavor. The tom yum is the best I've had in Seattle. The ginger chicken is one of my favorite dishes, though I think I need to stick to 2 stars, because the 3 stars was just over my personal pepper limit. The flavors here are quite pronounced and not muddied like some places. We almost always get the Crispy Garlic Chicken, Green Curry, and Beef Phad See Iew. and a random dish. Ordered from Chada so many times and the food is so good!! Tonight we ordered food and ordered rice for 3 people. I asked specifically if rice or noodles came with this one dish. The lady at the counter told me the dish came with noodles. I said ok then I need rice only for 2 people. She insisted that we ordered enough for 3 people and would not give me rice for 2 people. I said I only need it for 2 people because one dish has noodles. She finally said ok I will charge you for 2 rices. I paid and then looked at my receipt and I paid for 3 rices. She also had not put the rice in the containers at this point. I went back up to her and told her she charged me for 3 rices. She ended up giving me cash back. I told them we have been customers for a long time and the customer service tonight has not been good and I am upset. The other lady said she was sorry. Very upsetting! read more
