Hostess/owner is a grouch and servers are kind but very disorganized! They don't prepare your table with the necessary plates or cutlery until after your food is in front of you. It took them a while to get my order correct and then they attempted to deliver my entree less than 5 minutes after they brought me my salad. Food is okay but not great. The marinara sauce in the lasagna was bland and the lasagna was dry. Maybe it's because they kept it under a heat lamp for about 15 minutes before they put some fresh cheese on the top and served it to me. I was told that they were going to make a fresh lasagna but not convinced that they actually did that. read more

First time dining at Melio's after hearing about it for 4 years. It was incredible, in a word. All the food is made to order, including the pasta. A friendly staff in an eclectic environment makes a feast for your eyes. I cannot wait to go back with a bigger appetite, the sound of the homemade desserts was perfect. Delicious!! The wine was great, the cosmopolitan fantastic. Really the best bartender in Tubac! Bruschetta with Mozzarella spot on. The eggplant lasagna is to die for, ridiculously delicious. I think the like being able to plan staff based on reservations, so call up and make one! We've had the pasta limon (lemon pasta) twice and the Creme sauce is just lovely with the briney compliment of the capers!! The pasta is cooked perfectly. The 4 cheese pasta was a close second - very nicely done. Hubby had the lasagna and it was quite good! We couldn't manage desserts but I'm sure they are nice too! read more

We ordered pizza to go and it was ready within thirty minutes. Everyone was friendly and very helpful helping us decide what to order. Everything was delicious but my only complaint is the veggie pizza. All the veggies are separate. I prefer them mixed all together so I get a bit of everything on one slice. We will be back on our next visit. read more

Melios is literally the cutest - the decor the art, the displays everything is just so charming and fun with an amazing view of the mountains, we would've loved to dine outside but they were not offering that, that evening. Tortellini, ravioli, bolognese, lasagna and veal - those are the entrees we ordered and everyone had a bite of each persons, it was good but didn't overwhelm me with eye rolling flavor, the homemade noodles were delightful. The eye rolling flavor came from desserts, the peach caramel cake sounded like a strange combination but it was sooo good! The owner is the sweetest and you can tell she is busting her hump to make sure everyone has a great experience and we love and support that! Overall we had a great experience at Melios. read more

The service was great, but the carbonara I ordered was not like carbonara I've had elsewhere.. it was very salty, and more broth based than cream based, and it came out cold! My friend ordered a pizza... which they are usually good, and it came out cold. Very disappointing especially for the price... it was just spaghetti in the broth sauce with Parmesan and a little salt pork...$23! No salad with it or anything. Disregard the surprising star rating for this tasty restaurant in Tubac. It's the real deal! The owners had a restaurant in Rome. We enjoyed homemade pasta with delicate, authentic Italian flavor profiles. My favorite was the spaghetti limone with a mouthwatering lemon cream and caper sauce. A nice selection of wine (including several options by the glass) and a full bar. The mountain views are gorgeous. Reservations highly recommended as two of us arrived at 5:30 on a Tuesday and only bar seating was available. We saw parties turned away after us. Call to see if there's a table. Fabulous food and drinks and friendly service: that is Melio's in a nutshell. They offer daily specials that are great, but my favorite is the tortellini. You receive a very large serving and will most certainly not go away hungry. The ambiance is pleasant and my one complaint is the acoustics are deafening (you can't hear yourself think when the restaurant is full)! Perhaps in a future remodel? The recommendation came from our host and assured us that the owner was from Roma, Italia and the food was very authentic. Since I'm gluten intolerant I opted for a shrimp salad. The plate was swimming in liquid from the dressing and the lettuce which was not properly drained. The shrimp was also billed to be grilled, but they were not. That being said, my bad for ordering shell fish in the middle of the desert. On the positive, great service and a beautiful view of the Santeria Mountains. Since there was only one other couple in the entire restaurant, they seriously need to consider lowering the volume of their music. read more

We went to Milos the other Saturday night for our 51st Anniversary dinner and was very disappointed. The place was almost empty and the service rushed but OK. We order the Carbonara pasta dish, which we enjoyed many times in the past. This time the pasta was way too Al Dente and the sauce looked like pasta water with a few chunks of pork fat. It looked more like a under cooked noodle soup. We where every disappointed and sent it back after sampling. The Owner came over and yelled it's "ITALIAN CLASSIC CABONARA". WE paid the check and left. I felt sad that maybe somethings is seriously wrong at Milos Trattoria. read more

No Crusty Italian Bread/Rolls rather ya get Texas Toast to dip in oil. Meat Sauce or Meat Balls, the staple of any good Italian Place, were nowhere in sight. Paper Napkins? Come Onnnnnnn! It had not changed a lick in the ten years since we last visited,...Olive Garden Salad and offerings with real Italian Sausage & Meat Balls beats this shanty out back of a Gas Station by a mile! read more

This is a difficult review. Why? Because of conflicting aspects. First the food. Its okay. Not great, but okay. The menu is limited and mostly pizza. The portions are tiny. But, the desserts are to die for. Truly. Home made and just exquisite. Ambiance: its cute, but again, not great. Part of that is due to the way they treat you - NOT GOOD! No, they aren't rude, but for sure they are clueless about service and attetiveness. Its a struggle to get anything. We had to ask for a wine list, salt and pepper, and silverware all more than once to get them. Bad. Its a place that you might go to if you are already in Tubac and want italian, but as a destination, no. They could do so much to make it so just by being better at service, and friendlier. I think that is the stumbling block - they just treat you like they are doibg you a big favor and they resent it. read more

Very mediocre food, kind of bland, my dining companion did enjoy the sea bass dinner. No sides were offered. They had to be added on as a total full entrée. Wine selection limited. Salads were over seasoned and the dressing was granular. The service was indifferent at best, server never returned to the table to find out if we were enjoying our meal, or if we wanted additional drinks. She was rude when taking our drink orders. The atmosphere is non-existent the tablecloths were plastic, truly a T-shirt and jeans kind of place the view is nice. read more

The two stars are for the two wonderfully hospitable beautiful servers - Kevin and Martin. Top notch. They both deserve WAYYYY better than this dumpster fire of an establishment. But let me explain... 75% empty restaurant the entire time. No prob.. it happens but IMO that's when it's time to shine for your other guests. Nope. Simple request for a side order of their house made pasta was promptly denied by decree of the owner. Apparently my order of veal didn't warrant any pasta. Wait. This spot is Italian right?! I mean we heard no less than 3 times how the owner hales from a 20 year tenure in Rome.. The owner sucks and is a clueless proprietor. That is the premise of this review.. you'll see. Okay so aside from the fact that he doesn't think veal pairs swimmingly with pasta you'd think he would want to sell a $12 side of pasta instead of denying it totally and in turn selling zero dollars worth of pasta. Refer back to the aforementioned restaurant being close to empty. When I asked about the menu impudence I was informed about how great the food from this world class Roman import would be. Well mehhh. Not so much. The linguini and clams was solid, the fish of the day decent except for the bones but the veal was a joke. It was even pointed out how authentic it was. Sorry pal but I've eaten all over Italy and I'll tell ya'.... this young calf needed to claw its way another continent or two before it even made its way to the end of the mediocre pack. Cocktails were good but how hard is it to screw a Campari spritz. Tiramisu was dry and tasted like refrigerator. Not a drop of leghorn sauce or frangelico in sight. Now here's the real kicker... we dropped well over a Benjamin... actually good price points for sure but while we were finishing our chalky tiramisu WE WERE SERIOUSLY ASKED TO GET UP AND LEAVE OUR TABLE FOR THE NEXT PARTY!! Restaurant still half empty! I haven't determined my next course of action yet but I'll tell you what Fredo.. I'd leave the gun and the f$&king cannoli at this place. Ps - you could pay for a landscaper with pasta side sales alone I'd bet. read more

Melinda & Elios = Melios. Elios & another partner opened a restaurant in Rome, which I visited on my trip to Italy last year. Sometime later he and his wife came to the States and opened Melios. Elios is the chef and Melinda makes the desserts Only once can I remember getting a tough piece of veal, and it wasn't even my meal. On the whole the food is outstanding. I've had a veal chop that melted in my mouth it was so tender They have made a seafood salad with a vinegarette dressing that was awesome. All the fish in the salad cooked to perfection, especially the calamari . But their eggplant parmigiana is to die for. I love it so much I forget how many other delicious things are on the menu. And, the desserts. Limoncello cake, double chocolates cakes and almost always a homemade ice cream or sorbet to choose from. There's always pizza as well. And a full bar. Both indoor and outdoor seating with a beautiful view of the mountains By the way, the restaurant in Rome, which is still run by Elios former partner, was good but not as good as the one in Tubac. Definitely got to try it. But I'd call for reservations, especially in the season. Tubac is "snow bird" country --heavily populated October thru April. Tubac AZ is a small town between Amado and Carmen. Since our main post office is in Tumacacori, your GPS will come up with Tumacacori and not Tubac.
