This was our first visit here, although local family has been here quite a few times. We were here for a birthday. We were warmly greeted and shown to our table immediately at our reservation time. Party of 4. The restaurant is in a strip mall. They've done a nice job inside dressing it up but it could probably use an update again. Water and bread arrived almost before we were seated. There was garlic bread and a focaccia. Oil oil and balsamic are provided at the table. The bread is good but nothing memorable. Drink orders were taken and delivered fast. My $13 glass of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo was good. All the entrees come with soup or salad. Three of us had Minestrone and one tomato basil. All were tasty and fresh Parmesan was shaved on top table side. The soups could have been a little hotter IMO. We ordered two chicken dishes, an Eggplant lasagna, which is no longer listed on the menu, but they'll make it for you, and Cioppino. Everyone enjoyed their dinners. I had the Cioppino and thought the scallops, shrimp and mussels could have been cooked for 60-90 seconds less. They weren't chewy but not buttery soft either. The sauce was very good. Considering the restaurant is owned by a Mexican family and there likely isn't an Italian chef anywhere near this area, I'd give it a solid 4. They wouldn't survive in NYC or the surrounding area, but if I lived here, and the service and food were the quality we experienced tonight, I'd be a regular. read more

My wife and I were celebrating our 29th anniversary, and when your wife says she's craving Italian on your anniversary, you don't ask questions--you find good Italian. Thankfully, we found Ragazzi! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcome. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and struck that perfect balance of checking on us without making us feel like we were being supervised. My wife ordered the chicken parmigiana with Alfredo sauce, and I went with the lobster ravioli. We paired them with a glass of Malbec for her and a Merlot for me. Everything was delicious, but I have to give a special shout-out to the warm bread. Let's just say it took some serious self-control to save room for our entrées. Then came the grand finale: the tiramisu. It was absolutely divine and easily big enough for two people to share... assuming one of them is willing to share. Fortunately, we've had 29 years to practice. We left full, happy, and wondering how we hadn't discovered Ragazzi sooner. We were told that this Italian restaurant is run by Mexican owners. They do a good job. Carafe of Chianti $49. Good Vitello Parmigiana $36. Very good and large portion Gamberi E Cape Asante $37. Fantastic Italian food! I'm definitely not a wild Italian fan as you can tell from my reviews, however this classic restaurant checks all the boxes. Had the prosciutto and veal and it was rich and balanced, and one of the best I've had anywhere. Also had the fettuccini with the shrimp and scallops. The scallops and pasta were perfect. I would never have guessed that the seafood would be comparable to the Bay Area. The shrimp were a little undercooked however. The house Cabernet was very good, as were the branded Italian reds. The bread was also very good and the oil was fresh. Service was a little mixed but it was Valentine's so expected. That cuts to the few negative reviews for this restaurant. Came here with my parents for dinner with a reservation. We were seated quickly but it took almost 15 mins for a server to come by. Service was friendly but noticeably slow the entire time we were there. The bread basket was good and filled with warm Texas toast and foccacia. My eggplant parm was alright, a touch over fried, but the pasta was cooked nicely. Ambiance was okay, looks like they updated parts the space somewhat recently but other areas seemed a bit dated. We'd heard good things about Ragazzi. Good but pricey, we've been told. Rather than driving to Tucson to our favorite Italian restaurant for my husband's birthday, we decided to try Ragazzi. It is pricey for what you get -- for the same prices, we could have had atmosphere and excellent food at Vivace! My husband's meal was good; mine had ZERO flavor. I asked our server how spicy it was; he said he could have it made with no spice. Well, apparently "chefs" think that no spice means no flavor. Why? If a chef is good, can't they prepare a meal with a lot of flavor without using those evil red peppers? The atmosphere was ho-hum; the restaurant needs a major updating. And, it was pricey. Next birthday dinner will go to Vivace -- excellent food, excellent views, and most years we get a thunderstorm as entertainment. read more

I've eaten here twice when visiting a friend who lives in Green Valley. This is your classic kind of Italian restaurant that offers all the favorites you'd expect. I'm a fan of the tasty Petto di Pollo, which is basically Chicken Parmigiana. The staff here is attentive. The restaurant has nice booth seating. I'd say 3.5 stars is more accurate, so I'm rounding up a bit here. Small cozy restaurant that seems very popular with Green Valley locals. Kind of had the vibe of a place to "be seen." The bar is super cute with a neon blue light adding some unique ambience. We were seated in the main dining room at the very back booth, which was perfect for us, since we had our 1 and 3 year olds with us. Restaurant wasn't super kid friendly--no kids' menu or activities for kids to do while waiting. The server was hustling. It appeared he was taking care of the whole dining room, with some assistance from the host. While a small restaurant, it was an impressive feat as almost every table was full. My husband and I both got pasta which comes with your choice of soup or salad. I got the penne bolognese and my husband got the meatballs. Garlic bread came out first and it was fine--fresh and hot. My husband and I each got the salad with Italian dressing, and it comes with tomatoes, black olives, and chick peas. It was okay. The star was the bolognese. I thought it was delicious. Both of my kids loved it too. I would definitely get that again. I would have loved some fresh Parmesan on my pasta, but neither the host nor the server came back to offer that. Our kids were getting really antsy so I had to get out of there with them while my husband took care of the bill. Went for a late lunch and the place was empty to service was great. The server was very friendly and accommodating. The food was amazing as usual. I had the Gamberi E Cape Santa (wow a mouth full) , and it was amazing. This dish had perfectly cooked scallops and shrimp in a garlic sauce that I wanted to drink, but didn't. It also had Fettuccine Alfredo topped with asparagus which was also amazing. I will definitely be back. Great food , great service, great wine. We had an early dinner today. We each had a glass of wine, Ziin and Riesling, very good. The Caprese salad was good, tasty, nice presentation. The breads were excellent. I had ribeye,, cooked to perfection, tender and delicious! I had a Caesar salad, excellent! The steak came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. , again expertly prepared and delicious. My friend has a side salad, veal piccata with spinach. She said it was perfect. Got ignored until I waved down a waiter, 3 of whom were standing around the bar doing nothing. Finally got to place our cocktail order. Ragazzi is supposed to be the classiest restaurant in Green Valley. Pathetic! I won't go back again. Rigazzi is my favorite restaurant in Green Valley and a great place to go for date night. I had the Petto d'Pollo Fior d'Latte (Breaded Chicken Breast, Topped with Spinach, Fresh Mozzarella, and Tomatoes, in a Spicy Creamy Sauce. Served with Fettuccine Alfredo) and this was quite possibly the best chicken I have ever had. My wife had the Salmone De Piccata (Salmon Sautéed in a Lemon White Wine Sauce with Capers. Served with Parmesan Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus) which she really enjoyed. Ragazzi's is our favorite place to go in Green Valley for a fine dining experience here at home. We are never disappointed in the quality or service. They try so very hard to be an up-scale restaurant and could easily achieve that if it weren't for the rudeness of so many of their patrons. Men, how hard is it to don a button-down shirt and slacks. Women, how hard is it to put on a dress or pantsuit and for gawds sake some makeup. Show respect for yourselves and others and dress appropriately. I advise Ragazzi to put in place a dress code for after 4pm. No shorts, no flip flops, no tee shirts etc etc. For those people unwilling to comply, the 19th Hole is a short walk, and we'd all be more comfortable if you'd go there, or anywhere else. It's all about respect for the venue, others and yourselves. Do better Green Valley, esp you midwestern snowbirds. You know who you are. read more

My wife and I celebrated our 34th wedding anniversary on Saturday 4-25 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The meals were delicious and the service very good. We enjoyed being seated next to a group of prom night kids dressed to the 9's. They too had a great time and not once did we overhear a single swear word uttered by them. Now that "dress codes" are making a comeback to the fine dining establishments we too suited up. It's so much better for all diners after 6. I think Ragazzi's should turn the bar seating area into the room for all of the "After 6" patron's stepping it up. The best food and service in Green Valley! read more

Small establishment with good Italian food but the prices have increased and the portions have decreased! Was somewhat shocked when they brought out my eggplant parmigiana! 2 small slices of eggplant and a very small portion of pasta. The meal did not appear to fill much more than 1/2 of the plate! We thoroughly enjoy the food here! A nice touch with the bread and oil and balsamic vinegar to start the meal. Full pitcher of water at the table. And the food has always been great. Excellent food and superb service made for a delightful meal. The restaurant feels classy, with an old-school type vibe. I hadn't been in several years and was so happy to dine there again. The menu is big and they have many vegetarian items, which we appreciate. We drive over an hour to dine here and it's definitely worth the time. Wow! Just wow!!!! Just walking up to building I was excited by the smell of garlic in the air lol Soooooo delicious! From the soup and bread, to appetizers, mains, and dessert! I was floored! This little hidden gem in Green Valley is some of the best Italiano Food I've ever had. The restaurant is in a shopping center / business center. The restaurant has a welcoming feeling like you just got to a friend's mom's house for dinner. Very inviting. The food was excellent. The bread is addictive one is the popular garlic bread toast and the other is some sort of rosemary bread both delicious. The tomato bisque was so ridiculously good I swear it tasted more like lasagna soup than tomato bisque and that's a win for me. I love lasagna soup the tour of Italy dish that we shared had very decent portions. Chicken Parmesan was cooked perfectly. It was not dry when you cut into. The fettuccine Alfredo lasagna, my favorite I am all for pastas, and these did not disappoint so so good. And the service was amazing. We had a great waiter. I love the atmosphere here. The food is fine. But they have markedly raised their prices to those fitting for a high end steak house. At the same time, they have a lot of young, inconsistently wait staff, and the combination of very high cost and so-so service is a turn off...I was a regular customer, year-round patron.
