Dr. Amorn is one of the nicer ENTs I've seen. For some reason, the male ENTs I've seen over the years have been quite dismissive of my symptoms especially when the tests come back normal or they can't surgically correct my problem. As a feminist and aspiring physician, I like to support women in medicine whenever possible. Sadly, finding a female ENT is not easy. She appears to be a competent surgeon as I had no complications with my ear tube removal and tympanostomy surgery in November 2017. The medical assistants are kind and responsive. However, her attitude changed when I had chronic sinus infections and the CT didn't show anything wrong despite my symptoms responding to meds that both she and a PCP at One Medical prescribed. When I saw a different ENT in Fremont, he had me repeat the scan which showed narrowed and blocked passages. As a result, I had to have surgery. During the time of my sinus issues, she failed to return messages through My Health online. After about 10 days, she leaves a voice message saying she doesn't know what my question is. Again, I thought she was nice but maybe is inexperienced or needs to work on her diagnostic process. Her lack of follow up and inability to take my concerns about my sinuses seriously made me give her 3 rather than the 5 stars I was hoping to give. I would only see her if I couldn't find any other female ENTs who seemed like a good fit. I have been fortunate to have found 2 amazing female ENTs since that visit - my current one in San Ramon and a former one in Menlo Park. read more

I was referred to Dr. Amorn by Dr. McClintock-Greenberg (Respiratory doctor) for treatment of my severe sleep apnea. After a number of careful, compassionate and highly confidence-inducing appointments, we had scheduled a Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty in the beginning of June. In the leadup to the surgery, I ran into some issues with my insurance coverage - Dr. Amorn's staff went to bat for me and worked behind the scenes to clear up so many of the issues. The surgery itself could not have gone more smoothly. When my referring doctor told me, "For ENT surgery, she's the best around", he was not exaggerating. Dr. Amorn is an amazing doctor. Truthfully, I was pretty nervous having to go to a specialty doctor to check out my throat. She was very nice, sweet and super comforting. I relaxed immediately and I really wish she was a primary doctor, so I can use her as my doctor forevvaaa. Very thorough. She made it her job to ask a lot of questions and was a great listener. It can be kind of hard explaining to a doctor how exactly you are feeling since some symptoms are so difficult to explain in words. I kept saying, 'ya know..?' and she actually knew what I was talking about. Came in with a throat pain that wan't going away and she gave me a lot of preventative treatments to help. First of all NO STAR should be used to rate this physician who considered herself an artist rather than a doctor. I went in to see this doctor because the doctor I was originally suppose to see was out on vacation. Her office staff I must say are really friendly and well trained in caring for your health. BUT, this individual is not!!! Reasons being: 1. Her bedside manners are rude and stand offish 2. She states she cares for your wellbeing but believes that science is an art and takes pride in her art work, which I believe medical services should be considered serious and not a hobby. 3. If you state FACTS to her she will consider them as THREATS rather than hearing you. She will record your conversation and state your threatening her. 4. If you tell her that you can't hear from your ear repeatedly she cuts you off and tells you, you are "medically" fine. 5. If you send her a message through the sutter health message portal she'll never respond. So don't even try! This individual should take a course in trying to listen to her to patients rather than brushing them off. read more

I saw her for a problem with my nose and she performed a nasal endoscopy. I have a three week old son who is tongue tied. My pediatrician recommended Dr. Amorn and I couldn't be happier. We went to see her yesterday. I'll admit, I'm a neurotic new mom. All this stuff is new to me and I had never even heard of "tongue tie" before my son was born. In a nutshell, it causes him to have trouble eating and could cause dental issues and even a speech impediment when he's older. Dr. Amorn was so gentle and kind and took the time to answer all my neurotic questions and addressed all my concerns and even comforted me when I started crying. She thoroughly explained the pros and cons of correcting the problem and went over all of our options. She gave her professional opinion when I really needed a straight forward recommendation (something I'm finding most doctors steer clear of these days). She seemed to genuinely care about my son and me. She was able to perform the procedure (a quick snip) to correct the tongue tie right then. My son is healing beautifully and is acting as though nothing happened. My biggest concern was pain afterwards but he has shown absolutely no signs of pain at all. As a side note, Dr. Amorn's nurse was also incredibly sweet. I believe her name was Shanna. I really appreciate all their help and wonderful bedside manner. Highly recommend. read more

Throughout the years I have met many doctors but only one stands out when I think of a good quality doctor and that is Dr. Amorn. She is an amazing doctor who has genuinely shown to care about me as a patient. I've had very bad experiences with previous doctors as I suffer from hearing loss and undergone two surgeries so far. However, with Dr. Amorn I have never had a problem as she is very gentle and caring with any procedure. I highly recommend Dr. Amorn to anyone searching for quality care. I never walk out the office feeling like I have any unanswered questions, confusion, or doubt. She takes her time and never makes me feel like she is rushing to move on to the next patient. First appointment went well. My husband needed a new ent close to home. Eventually, so will I. Dr. Amorn is very pleasant and warm. His next appointment is in a couple of weeks. If first impressions count, Dr. Amorn is a winner in our book. Staff friendly. My complaint is with followup. I went for a hearing test. The staff recommended an audiologist at the Sutter hospital in Oakland. They stated they would make the appointment but if I did not hear from them for me to call. I did not hear from them. I received a follow up call from Dr. Amorn's office 4 weeks after the appointment. The call was on voice mail. I returned the call and left a voice mail. I have still not received a followup. My dentist follows up by three methods - text messaging, phone, and email to ensure appointments are kept and information is transmitted. I would expect in the 21st century a service organization like Sutter could do the same. Their lack of communication skills does not give me confidence in their treatment skills - ironic for a department that is supposed to improve my hearing. read more

Dr. Amorn is fantastic. I came to her with an ear infection that wouldn't go away and that my primary didn't know what to do with. After two rounds of oral antibiotics, I found Dr. Amorn. She was sincerely concerned and asked the right questions to figure out my problem. My infection got better with her care and I couldn't be happier with the way I was treated in her office. She also gave me some preventative tips for how to avoid infections in the future. Best of all, I found it easy to get in to see her within 24 hours (::I was in significant pain!::), unlike some of the other ENTs closer to home. The office staff and her assistant is also helpful and get back to you quickly.
