    Donuts

If you ever find yourself wandering through Chinatown in Vancouver and craving something sweet, Mello is absolutely worth the stop. The popular shop is simple, clean, and welcoming--a bright space that lets the donuts be the star. They also offer coffee, tea, and a selection of other drinks, which makes it an easy place to pause and treat yourself. What really stood out was their lineup of fresh, handcrafted Korean brioche donuts. The flavors are fun and creative--think mango mochi donut and peanut butter and jelly--and they rotate regularly, so there's always something new to try. Every donut was beautifully put together and it seriously took me a while to decide because they all looked so good. I ended up going with the strawberries and cream and the cereal milk donut. Their texture and sugar-coated exterior actually reminded me of malasadas, which I loved. Even though I didn't get around to eating them until the next day, they were still soft and delicious. The strawberries and cream was my favorite--light, flavorful, and I can only imagine how incredible it would've been fresh. If you're a dessert lover like me, this spot is an easy recommendation. I'd happily go back to try whatever new flavors they come up with next.

We ordered Mello Donuts on Uber and had the pleasure of tasting their beautifully presented donuts right out of the box. There was also a great variety of flavours my husband chose, including Strawberry Cream, Tiramisu, Chocolate Pudding, and more. Each donut was topped with a special decorative touch, which made them look elegant and award-worthy. I first tried the Salted Caramel donut and absolutely loved it. The sugar topping was sweet and delightful, the dough was soft just the way I like it, and the caramel filling was generously oozing out -- so good! Next was the Lemon Curd. It had the same soft, fresh dough and generous filling, but the lemon curd had a slight aftertaste that wasn't my personal favorite. Still, it was clearly fresh and well made. But what I loved most was the Nutella Mello Donut -- OMG, I was in heaven! The Nutella was rich, smooth, and overflowing with bliss. I finished it in one minute! I would definitely recommend Mello Donuts to all my friends and family!

Absolutely, positively, divine puffy donuts that are filled to perfection. The taro one was truly exquisite! Not too sweet and filled fully which made it perfect, one is enough but why stop there? I wish I tried at least 3 but didn't have the belly room.

Salted Caramel and Madagascar Vanilla brioche donuts ...

I am always on the hunt for a good donut -- like a quality, tasty, "I'll be thinking about this later" kind of donut . I found Mello Donuts on DoorDash while overnighting in Vancouver, and listen... I am in love. Their website says "brioche donuts -- made fresh from scratch daily" and when I tell you, that first bite made me a believer! Your teeth just sink right into this soft, fluffy, cloud-like goodness -- it's giving pillow of happiness, truly These aren't your regular donuts either -- they're brioche donuts with a little hole on top where they pipe in the creamy filling. And the flavors? Unreal. Tiramisu, Nutella, Strawberries & Cream, Lemon Curd, Chocolate pudding, Peanut Butter & Jelly plus more; and some savory Matcha, and Everything Bagel donut -- how do you even pick one?! I ended up going with the Vanilla, which has a Madagascar vanilla bean custard filling -- light, creamy, not too sweet, just perfect. And the Salted Caramel? Omg. Filled with silky salted caramel that hits just right. Yummy yummy yummy. And if you feel like moderating your intake (or pretending to ), they also serve them in the minis -- little bite-sized puffs of joy that will probably disappear faster than your self-control Oh, and the cute little present box my two donuts were packaged in? Just icing on the cake-- I mean, donut Loved the whole presentation. It's actually wild that I'm contemplating another Vancouver layover just to get these donuts okay maybe not doing the layover for the donuts... but definitely doing the donuts on my next layover!

Mello Donuts in Chinatown definitely lives up to the hype. I opted for the Nutella donut and it was absolutely packed with Nutella, but what really stood out was how light and airy the donut itself was. The texture was soft and fluffy, and the rich Nutella filling paired perfectly with it. Excellent flavour all around.

Let me start off by sharing the incredibly controversial fact that I don't like doughnuts. Shocking, I know, but the tooth-achingly sweet, yeasty, dense flavour has never been for me. So I'm sure you'll understand my skepticism when my friend claimed that this spot had "pick me" doughnuts, meaning, doughnuts that are "not like other doughnuts". Begrudgingly, I accepted coming, and tried the tiramisu flavour. Now perhaps I'm biased because I do love tiramisu, but I was incredibly pleasantly surprised. So much so that I went back next week and got a box of them to bring home. Not overtly sweet, incredibly light and fluffy (they are brioche doughnuts after-all), filled with yummy cream (which might be the best part imo). I must warn you that the filling gives authentic tiramisu, meaning that (and I may be wrong) but I have a slight suspicion it may contain the slightest bit of liqueur, which may not be for everyone, so just being mindful of that. Additionally, at 5.75$ per doughnut excluding tax+tip, it is a bit on the pricier side, but I suspect that is due to quality of ingredients. Overall, quite impressed. Not much seating on the inside, so it doesn't quite give the "come here to study" vibe, but the staff were quite nice and friendly. Would recommend, particularly to high-quality doughnut lovers.

Stopped by for a sweet treat while waiting for our table to be ready for dinner. Staff were super nice. We got a six count box of donuts... Matcha, lemon, injeolmi , donuki, strawberries and cream, and cherry chocolate donut. We ate the lemon and injeomli donut there. Both were fantastic. Super flavorful. Later that evening we indulged in the other ones. The strawberries and cream was a lot of cream not too much strawberry, but it was still very tasty. Cherry chocolate was phenomenal. Donuki was yummy. I expected the Matcha to be delicious because I love Matcha, but it was very very bitter. I don't like it at all. All in all great donuts.

Quaint Korean run coffee shop in Chinatown. Parking is available on the street, but watch out for the junkies on the sidewalk. The place is modern but plain. Strangely enough, there are no seats. Just standing room. Knock 1 star off. Staff are friendly. No complaints. The tiramisu doughnut I had was pretty good. Not too sweet, and generous amount of filling. The coffee was decent but nothing special. Worth checking out if one is in the area, but there are also several other coffee shops in the vicinity.

Nutella, tiramisu, and lemon curd brioche donuts

Was really excited to try this donut shop after seeing good reviews from social media, but it sadly didn't meet my expectations. The shop itself is cute, and the service was quick. We ordered 3 brioche donuts: lemon curd, Nutella, and tiramisu. My favorite was the Nutella, but I quickly realized it's because Nutella is just so good on its own and the donut had so much Nutella filling. The lemon curd was initially tasty, but the taste and aftertaste lingering from each bite was not pleasant. It reminded me of lard or grease? The tiramisu was decent though. The dough in these donuts was pretty good and fluffy, but nothing special about them. My friend and I were both not impressed with this donut shop - we both thought the donuts were just OK and not worth coming back for, but I'm glad I got to try them!

The donuts will be hit or miss depending on your taste buds. I absolutely did not enjoy the mango mochi donut - too sweet, the mango flavor tasted artifical and the mochi pieces were small but plentiful. The cereal milk donut, however, was a hit! Right amount of sweetness and the cereal flakes added a nice crunch The cookie had a soft and chewy texture! Lots of chocolate chips with each bite and I enjoyed the sprinkle of salt over top

My fav dessert place in all of Vancouver. I've put all my friends and coworkers on and they always rave about how yummy these donuts are. So fluffy and light - not too sweet. Could genuinely eat the whole box in one sitting.

    Stephy C.

The cereal milk donut was amazing! There's cereal pieces on the side so it was crunchy. The filling was nice. Also tried the donukie which was a chocolate chip cookie on top of a donut? That one was way too sweet for me. Will go back for the cereal milk donut. They also told me the strawberry cream one was also a popular choice but I didn't get to try it.

    Lily N.

The Cereal Milk donut was honestly soooo delicious!!! One of the best donuts I've had. I loved the flavor and the fact that it wasn't super sweet. All the donuts looked so yummy I wanted to try them all! There are so many different flavors of fillings to choose from. The ladies behind the counter were also very nice and patient. Will definitely try to return next time I'm in Vancouver.

The dark chocolate brought a mild cocoa note, while the cereal added a crunchy, slightly nostalgic contrast at the base. That said, I expected the vanilla to have more of a rich, milky flavor. This is not the place for plain vanilla; it's the combinations (think honeycomb, matcha, or seasonal specials) that bring the experience to life. Based on the shop's concept, Soft Peaks is known for using local organic milk and keeping sweetness restrained, which tracks with that lighter, less sugary profile.
