This is the place to go if you want good, pretense free pizza. Is it Fellini's or some of the more artisian shops? No, but it just might rank up there. I am partial to the Mega Veggie which is incredibly true to the name as it is like a salad bowl on a piece of bread. My kids really enjoy the pepperoni, especially when it is combined with that delightfully yeasty crust. One criteria of good pizza for me is the next day cold test and Mellow Mushroom holds up. Their salads are fantastic, fresh and crisp with plentiful toppings. I do enjoy a sandwich there now and then (the Capri and Mushroom Club call to me) but I wish it came with some kind of side- chips, potato salad, a pickle, anything! My husband is partial to the calzones but they are a bit too cheesy and dense for me. The service is slow, slow...sloooooowwww which of course leads to jokes about the staff being on...Mellow Mushrooms but you forgive them once you taste your food. read more

I want to take the time to recognize the great service and quality of food at this location. Every Friday night is Pizza night for us and this is our favorite spot. It seems these days that mediocre or sub par service is the norm. When I get consistently good service and food it stands out. Friday's are pretty busy but they are always on top of it on making sure they get you sat, orders in and you are happy with your order. The Manager makes his rounds and will go out of his way to correct a mishap...I appreciate that the fact that they "get it". We are paying customers and after a long week its great to have a good service and great pizzas! read more

I will clarify but I am not going to argue with you. Friday the 25 I regrettably came to the Mellow Mushroom on Windward, the one with hula hoops on the ceiling. The employees were gathered in the corner and a skinny boy with long hair in a pony tail sat next to a girl with bleach blonde hair and popped a pimple on her face. Had a really mixed experience here, bought $300 worth of food for my employees before and the secretary told me of some troubles ordering before, so I decided this time to be the big boss and order to myself. Called at 10:30 a.m., needed 8 large pizzas in an hour and about 50 hot wings and a calzone, not that hard - right? They told me it would be ready at 1:30 PM??? I asked - are you kidding, three hours - was about to hang up and choose another when she said to hold on - talked to the manager and he said he could do it and the young lady misspoke. Ordered the eight pizzas & wings and drove over to get them at 11:20 so that I could be back in five minutes to make sure my employees who had to leave by 12:30 p.m. could eat in time before going to a 1 pm meeting with 2 dozen GC's over by Perimeter. Got to the restaurant and was waiting about 15 min with me starting to get worried as the clock hit 11:47. Finally signed the check for $277 with a $20 tip. They helped to load the items into the car when I noticed -wait - where are the hot wings? They ran inside to get but later discovered that they also charged me for a skipped pizza. Got back to the office quickly and found a pizza missing, called the place and the first call didn't go well - had the manager accuse me it was my fault "you should count them before you leave" - gee what a great response from a manager (anyone else have a small red stapler I can borrow for a sec so I won't have to clean it?)- since I was around others didn't say how I really felt after that insult. The pizzas were not the best and had better experiences at the ones in Woodstock, Kennesaw and Roswell - the Cali was badly under cooked and missing some things and they over killed the Bayou with too much spice so it was inedible to all. We missed trying the Yum Yum (to be fair the manager called and left a voice mail on my phone to apologize and say that he found it printed on the bottom of the receipt and that I had paid for it, told him to just refund that one - won't be going back and not ordering again. Forgiveness I can do, trust is another matter once it is broken is hard to regain it, breaking repeatedly is a death kneel for anyone in business. Will see if he refunds the amount or not, but the attitude and staff might need some badly needed training on customer service starting with the management. Meanwhile will look at other places as there are MANY nearby I can easily pay $200-400 for a lunch for my employees who deserve a good meal for the many hours of hard work for a boss who is very protective of them. read more

I wish I could give this place a negative star because the manger here does not know what customer service is and is super rude. He just yelled at my significant other over the phone for a mistake his staff made! We had ordered and paid for our order and I went to pick it up said the name and gave me the order that had the same name as mine. I wasn't aware what was in the order since I didn't place it, I was just picking up for him and gave both names to be safe! They gave me food from 11:51 am... I thought was the time the order was placed via internet... nope it was some else's food that had been sitting there. After speaking with the manger he told me he would comp me for the meal I paid for because it didn't belong to me. Then he called my significant other to confirm I wasn't lying and was a complete ass! He spoke to home like he thought we were dumb and refused to give us back our money for the real order we actually placed but never received. Great customer service there! Mellow Mushroom quality in general has consistently been going down over the years, but this location has the worst food. I ordered a regular cheese pizza, and the amount of cheese was simply vile. It was like they put cheese, and then forgot and then put cheese again so it was basically a big coagulated mess. The chocolate chip cookie was stale. And they use plastic to go solo containers for salad dressing when dining in. Ever hear of a ramekin? There were only a few tables but they ran out of silverware - so plasticware it was! Well that was a terrible experience last night. We went to celebrate my sons 12th Birthday. He loves this place but we are going to have to find a new location to visit. I ordered the California club sandwich which is clearly offered in the menu but I was told they no longer have it or two other sandwich's on the menu. Mind you, this menu item is clearly advertised on a three sided table top advertisement. I pointed it out only to be told that they do sell the item but only through catering. Which is it? From that point on nothing went smooth. I was provided the wrong chips with the chicken hogie I ordered and the roll for the hogie was inedibly stale. I had to eat it with a fork. We've been to this location about 10-15 times. It's always been hit or miss. It's time to move on though. I recommend trying the Forsyth location or State Bridge. Another option is Vincenza's on McFarland. They have excellent New York style pizza and can provide all items listed on their menu. read more

This is a great place to step in, rest your cheeks on cushy porcelain and squeeze out a nice brown log. The toilet paper holder is even at the perfect height to hold a cup of Sprite. I have ate at Mellow Mushroom several times, and it is one of my family's favorite places to go. We were seated and ordered, my daughter and her friend were seated at another table. My daughter's order was never taken, she didn't even get the water that she asked for. There wasn't a bartender on staff and no one knew how to make any mixed drinks. I had to ask the waitress to add my daughter pizza on our order, she said she would. Halfway through dinner we asked how her pizza was and she said she had not got it yet. I asked the waitress where her order was, she apologized and said she would take care of it. Once we received the bill she told us that she would put the pizza in a box and take it off of the bill. So my daughter ate it on the way back to the hotel. The friends we were with had never ate there before, we told them that we had never had any issues like this at the location at home. Hopefully in the future they will be better staffed on a Saturday night, and make sure all of the orders are accounted for. Hey, at least the beer was cold.... Update: I just wanted to add that the GM contacted me and I explained what happened. It seems that there were a lot of extenuating circumstances going on Sat night at the restaurant. I understand that things do happen, but the GM is going to make it right. That is what customer service is all about!! If I am ever by that Mellow Mushroom location I will stop by and give it another chance. read more

I had the opportunity to eat here twice... Portobello sandwich (reuben) and calzone were just ok. I would never get them again. I like the restaurant layout and the convenience to work. I wouldn't come again. People at work seem to like this restaurant and others as well. I recommend eating there and forming your on opinion. read more

Service here is always great, especially since I usually visit during the lunch rush. Servers never mess up our orders, even though I'm usually with my friend who has to make several substitutions because she's vegan, and I'm just a picky eater in general. Oh, yeah -- if you're vegan, definitely hit up the Mellow Mushroom. They have tofu, they have fake cheese, they have so many different types of vegetables. I believe they also have gluten free crust, if anyone needs that info as well. The food is consistently tasty and enjoyable. A+, will definitely keep coming back. read more

Let's just get this out of the way: I have never liked Mellow Mushroom's pizza. It's so greasy. So, I have learned to only eat salads here. And, the salads are delicious at this location and at other locations, too. My issue with this place is the service. It is sloooooooow. We came here for lunch and we did have a sort of large group but the time it took to get us our checks was excessive. It took an hour to get the checks. That is not an exaggeration. Because of that, I don't go back. I can't risk 2.5 hour lunches. It's just not worth it. read more

We stopped in the other day for our usual pizza and got a surprise, they had just launched burgers!!! You must stop in and try the newly launched "Herb" veggie burger and "Carnie" beef burger! I had the Herb fiancee' had the Carnie burger. Our server was the best we have had in awhile, she was very upbeat, told us all about the burgers answered our questions. And we even talked about eye shadow (she had hers done impeccable!). Mellow is now not only my favorite go to for pizza (it's the best) now add favorite place to go for a veggie burger! It is served on a brioche bun, with avocado, the yummy mellow garlic aioli sauce, cheddar cheese, sliced tomato, romaine lettuce (I had them leave tge onions off) it was yummy I'm craving another. Maybe I can talk him into going again tonight He absolutely loved his burger as well. I am from the east coast, so I have pretty high standards for pizza. Mellow Mushroom is edible and will assuage a pizza craving, but it is nothing to write home about and I wouldn't take an out of town visitor here. The decor/theme of the chain is psychedelic and tie die like the grateful dead sponsored the decorating party. The staff is very friendly and it is a good place for a quick sit down lunch when you are craving pizza. read more

I've been going to this Mellow Mushroom for about 10 years. It's been consistently good even when it gets really busy. I've been getting basically the same thing every time and it never gets old. The service is always on point, when at their busiest you still get the attention you deserve and accurate estimates on waiting and cooking times. Great, no frills pizza. Friendly staff from cooks to servers. Pizza has perfect fluffy crust, tasty sauce and seasoning, and great cheese flavors. It's the best we've found in the Alpharetta area. I have to give this place 4 stars, because it's just not as good as Savannah's, but this place is pretty good. The pizza is great, and the service staff is very likable. We ordered a Mellowterranian (sp?) and a house pizza I think. They were both awesome. I'm trying to get my non-beer six pack back, so I didn't eat too much, but what I did consummated with was amazing. I also got a free Sweet Water Cup! Awesome! The pizza here is the best in the area. I've been to several Mellow Mushrooms in the metro area...I tried Windward's gluten free pizza, and it was noticeably burnt. We couldn't understand how the cook felt it was ok to put on a plate, nor how the server saw fit to bring it to the table. Two people knew it was wrong, and it was still served. Aside from being burnt, it ranks among the worst pizza I've ever had. I'm not sure why gluten free is on their menu. In addition, there is an Italian sandwhich several of us like at MM that is always better at other locations. I'm always disappointed when I order it at this location. I have had a good regular take out pizza there, and some fairly decent appetizers, but my inclination is to go to another Mellow Mushroom instead. read more
