After being awarded the NC Triad Yelp Squad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, celebrating their contributions and accomplishments throughout the year, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Bellacino's Pizza & Grinders, in Roanoke, Virginia, is a perfect example. When I saw a sign for this Italian Restaurant, there was something in me that told me I had to stop to try it. I arrived around 6:00 pm for dinner, as the gray clouds started to form. But even before I walked in, I ran into a customer walking out carrying his box of pizza and looking so happy and satisfied. So much so that I told him who I was and asked permission to take a photograph to include in my review, and he gladly obliged. Then I looked at all the signs they had on the windows and proceeded to walk in the restaurant. It had a comfortable feeling to it and you could tell that almost all the customers there were repeat customers. I saw a menu on the wall and began to study it. When it was my turn to order at the counter a very friendly and kind young lady greated me and took my order. I ordered an 8 inch Bellacino's Pride Pizza as my main entrée. It contained pepperoni, ham, sausage, mushrooms, green peppers, onion, black olives & mozzarella cheese. To drink they had Pepsi products so I had a regular Pepsi with free refills. As I waited I saw that all their employees worked closely together in teamwork. When my food was ready one of their employees brought it out to my table. That was a welcome gesture since in many pizza places you have to get up and get it. The Pizza was 8 inches, just the right size for one person. In most places they don't have this size. From flavor and texture of it dough to the freshness and flavor of its ingredients, and the quality of its sauce and mozzarella cheese. I enjoyed eating it so much that in the future I plan to bring a in a plastic bag some chorizo (Spanish sausage), and ask them to make me a pizza with this. In conclusion, I highly recommend this Pizza Place. For its relaxing ambiance, amazingly food, and excellent customer service, exceeding my highest expectations and providing an extraordinary dining experience. My friend and I spent about an hour here from start to finish. I basically ordered chocolate molten cake, since I loved these and is relatively inexpensively priced. It really hit the spot after finishing another 50km ultra marathon in Rocky Mount the day before and it was my reward for it. My friend decided to sample a sampler platter, where it looked pretty good and delicious. I also had a strawberry margarita with my chocolate molten cake just because it just made sense. It was a celebration of sorts and it just happened in this Chili's location in Roanoke, Virginia. I enjoyed these conversation and the overall time spent here. Too bad vacations have to end. It was a quick meal before my friend had to return the rental car and head to the airport himself. For the most part though, the meal was good, especially with the alcohol involved. I even got carded and being over 40+ years old. I guess I still look young or something. Check it out for yourself. The overall experience here at this Chilis restaurant at the Tanglewood Mall area of Roanoke, Virginia was typical in what you'd expect here. It was quiet on a Sunday since the NFL season was over after Ty Super Bowl. It can get loud but i was glad it was not. It is nice to have those restroom facilities to use on site as well. The restaurant itself was clean and had good air conditioning, even though it was mildly cool outside at the time (low 50's F). The strawberry margarita paired nicely with the chocolate molten cake that I ordered. It was smooth and definitely helped with the entire meal and conversation. My friend decided to have a 3 item simpler platter, which worked good for him. Everything was tasty and the service was good. At the end of the meal, we paid the lunch tab on the device on our table instead of having the server take the payment to a central pay terminal and do the transaction there. After hanging out and just enjoying Sunday morning in Roanoke while having lunch, we left and went our separate ways. For the most part though, it was a good meal with my friend. We both did the event in Rocky Mount the day before and coming to Chilis was a celebration of what the human body is capable of when we believe in ourselves. Hope to be back one day soon for another round of celebrations. But for now, it was definitely a nice time here at Chilis. If you find yourself in Roanoke, Virginia and want lunch or dinner, or possibly just drinks, consider coming down to Chilis here at the Tanglewood Mall. It's physically at 4212 Electric Road, Roanoke. They accept major credit cards, as well as cash. I think they do mobile ordering too, but you'd need the app for that. As far as parking goes, you have a generous helping of parking spots since it's attached to the Tanglewood Mall. If you are a fan of public transportation in Roanoke, bus route 55 will take you directly here from the 3rd street bus terminal In downtown Roanoke. And of course, there is Uber and Lyft to get you here as well. Best bet would be to get here early enough to secure your favorite parking spot and walk on over. Or get here early enough to enjoy the food and drinks that you were looking forward to all week long. I definitely recommend the chocolate molten cake. I think it's been a signature dish of Chilis as far as I can remember and they have it at all locations, I think. And Lews Restaurant in the Hollins neighborhood of Roanoke, Virginia, is a perfect example. From the moment I parked my car in their small parking lot and walked over to this cozy little restaurant with a slanted shaped roof, I was first welcomed by one of their customers who held the door open for me when he was entering the restaurant and saw me headed that way. That particular gesture was so meaningful to me that I abstained from taking a photograph of the outside of the restaurant and hurried along to catch the door. As I stepped inside, the unique architectural design captivated me. The slanted wooden ceiling, peaking in a true cathedral style, lent the space a feeling of immense height while still maintaining a warm, inviting atmosphere."  It didn't take long for me to notice the sign that read: "Please SEAT YOURSELF." But almost at the same time that I had finished reading it, a friendly young lady, who ended up being my server, greeted me with a smile and a warm welcome, and invited me to sit anywhere I wished. I chose a booth next to a collage of photographs depicting major scenes from the Star City of Roanoke. Given that they sold Pepsi products, I chose an ice-cold Pepsi. Then I ordered the Tavern Burger and requested they add bacon. This burger was topped with fried egg, mustard, pickle, and American cheese, and served on a sesame seed bun with a side of their Beer Battered Fries. From the fresh and soft sesame seed bun,to the freshly fried egg, to the juicy and quality beef patty, and the thick, satisfying bacon and pickle, every component of this burger contributed to an amazingly delicious final result. Needless to say, my server checked back to see how I was doing at the appropriate times and provided me with refills of my ice-cold Pepsi. To my surprise the only dessert they had was Fried Oreos and no ice-cream to accompany it. I realize that many restaurants hold on having dessert to expedite customer flow, but at least for me, a meal isn't a meal without a good, sweet dessert. And I make the recommendation of adding a few unique desserts special menu such as Peanut Butter Pie, Vanilla Ice Cream to the Fried Oreos, and a Mango Crème Brûlée. You'll be surprised, you may have customers attracted to eat here just for any of these simple but unique and delicious desserts. In conclusion I highly recommend this little and cozy restaurant for its warm and friendly environment, its wonderful satisfying food, and last but not least, its excellent customer service. A quick internet and Yelp search told me that the things to get at The Cellar are the Greek gyro and the pizzas. I didn't want a whole pie just for myself, so I ordered the gyro. The Greek gyro was really good! It is lamb and beef in a pita, topped with tzatziki, lettuce, onion and tomato. All of the veggies were super fresh, and the pita was warm and pillowy. It's served with chips and a pickle. They actually have quite a few Greek or Mediterranean-adjacent items on the menu. One of the people in my group ordered the Black & Blue Salad, which is basically a salad with steak and bleu cheese on it, plus lots of vegetables. It was huge! She ate a lot of it, and it looked like she barely made a dent. When she put the leftovers in the to-go container, she almost needed two containers! It became a running joke that day and for a couple of days afterward about whether or not she actually finished that salad. This is also the location for the 6Pak Bottle Shop, which is basically a liquor store but intensely curated. They have a nice selection of craft beers and wine. There is also a bar downstairs, which I didn't have the pleasure of visiting. Another great thing about The Cellar is that they are open late! Sometimes until midnight, and sometimes until 2 a.m. I guess that makes sense, as they are located basically right across the street from Virginia Tech.

They don't have lemon for the seafood or shrimp, and the cocktail sauce is in little ketchup packets made mostly of chemical ingredients, no real food content and not healthy. And again with the stinginess, they provided two little tiny ketchup packets for 10 shrimp. So not enough even for the shrimp that you've ordered. It basically allowed me to dip for shrimp. Was told that "everything is made fresh" but I think that they're deceiving themselves that this is wholesome, edible food. The cannoli was soggy and inedible. We threw out half of it. The bread mess was bland and again, not proper pita bread, shrimp was fine but with no lemon or cocktail sauce, just bland fried shrimp. Nothing special. On top of that they had a seven dollar delivery fee despite the fact that they are five minutes away from where we were??!? In NY and Boston delivery upcharges are three dollars or five dollars, so seven dollars in Roanoke Virginia just feels again, unnecessary and greedy. So for approximately $25 worth of food, if you're also paying the driver, you're spending a $12 + upcharge for mediocre food with no utensils or napkins or proper condiments. Located in the heart of Grandin Village, one of Roanoke's most desirable and walkable neighborhoods, and right next to the historic Grandin Theatre, this family-owned and operated pizza shop, by local residents Ruben Liendo and his wife and general manager Alaina for over 22 years now, is that kind of a place that if you visit once you would want to come back forever. Today, I happened to be walking on the sidewalk of Grandin Rd (which is the Main Street of Grandin Village) to check out a new business that's about to open in a few days, and as I walked by Grace's Place Pizzeria, Matthew, one of the servers who was just arriving recognized me and immediately said hello. He asked how I was doing and showed me the newest creation he had painted on one of the windows of the restaurant. It was colorful pizza wings, for people to pose in front of them and have a picture taken and share it in social media. What a creative idea I thought and told him, and walked on to my errand. After I finished my errand I decided to return to Grace's Place and have an early dinner there, now that it wasn't crowded as usually it gets when I visit the place in prime time and on the weekends. Matthew greeted and welcomed me as I entered the door and graciously took and hanged my coat on the wall coat rack. He invited me to take a seat at the table of my choice and I went and sat at one of their comfortable booths. To drink I ordered a Pink Lemonade. To dine I ordered a Side Salad with their Special dressing to begin with. As my main entrée I ordered a 10" Pizza Suprema. As I waited I enjoyed my refreshing Iced Pink Lemonade. Then my Side Salad arrived with the amazing in-house made salad dressing. It was delicious. The timing was perfect. Soon after I had finished my salad and the empty salad bowl removed, my Pizza Suprema arrived. One look and I could tell it was the authentic handcrafted pizza this casual Italian restaurant is so well known for. It looked spectacular and tasted even better. Starting with its unique tasting dough and fresh toppings, cooked to perfection. They take their time making their pizzas, but they come out perfect everytime.
