We arrived at 515pm and found the restaurant mainly empty. We spoke to the female host and she promptly told us the wait would be 45 minutes to an hour. We asked why that was the case being a Saturday and that the place was full of empty tables. She stated that there were reservations ahead of us. We spoke to a man bussing tables who oddly enough had a key ring attached to his belt loop. Turns out the manager is cleaning tables. He was far more authentically considerate. Said that he'd try his best to get us seated. We were in 8 mins. The food was great. We ordered the Jerk Wings, Humus, and Pacific Rim pizza. All delicious. I hate giving one stars to businesses so when I do I believe it's totally justified. Food was decent, this review is for service. That made me know I will not go to this location again. Got there late (a little after nine) but I asked if it was ok to be seated. They acted like it was a hassle but seated me at the bar. This should have been my first clue. It took the woman working the bar a bit to come to me, she finally did. I ordered my drink and food at the same time as I had enough time to decide. First she dropped off my drink with no straw then disappeared. When I saw her again and asked for one she was perplexed at why I'd want one. Now I used to work at a restaurant bar where the bartender was a magician who would make my lighter disappear. This lady was far better, she made herself disappear or would make me disappear because she couldn't see me. When I finally was able to flag her down again for a refill, she grabbed my cup, walked over to hers and paused to drink in plain sight before she disappeared to where ever the drinks were hid (not near the bar lol). Now what truly bothered me was what followed. I watched her picking up for the night, garbage off the floor, the garbages themselves, dirty napkins, dirty plates and cups, hands bare and all over them. Not once did she wash her hands or use a wipe, then would immediately take clean dishes out of dish washer, hands all over them or would take others at the bar their food. I was thankful someone else brought mine. Then I heard her being very loud with the cooks. He said, "this ain't Olive Garden!" To which she replied, "Too bad, we'd make more there!" I thought, "If you act this way every night it's no wonder you don't make more!" Now I appreciate restaurant workers. I've worked in many and in fact my wife was my waitress. I know that it gets busy and there's a lot to do to close down. This however was very evidently a person who shouldn't be in this kind of job. Why they didn't sit me at a table is beyond me, as there were plenty of waitresses still delivering food even after me. Why they sat me if they didn't want more customers is also beyond me. We opted to sit at the bar for the wait was pretty long. The manger said that they were short staffed and to give grace to the bar tender. The bar tender tonight was very friendly! I can't say I recommend her drink she made up, was just Drink mixer and coconut liquor. The pizza we had was very tasty, had the mighty meat and also the artichoke dip. The dip was great but couldn't finish it because they didn't give us enough bread/chips. The bar was dirty the entire time we ate. The bar tender said she was waiting on bus boys to clean them but never did until a person came and sat next to us then she cleaned them up but made the guest wipe down the bar. I wanted to judge the pizza on its own so we ordered just a plain cheese. The sauce was very tasty had a good tang and flavor. The crust was amazing and had a very nice crunch and chew to it. Their wait system is efficient, you get a text when your table is ready which allows you to explore the shops in the area while you wait (or in our case go across to the arcade!). We were estimated a 30 minute wait, no big deal. 50 minutes later we were seated. Okay they are backed up, that's fine. We waited 10 minutes to place our order...not great but okay. 50 minutes later we are STILL waiting on food. Asked to speak to a manager, his response was "yeah that's how long a ticket takes." It does not take 50+ minutes to warm up a kids meatball meal and make a calzone. Couldn't tell you how the food is...still waiting. Update: My son had the meatballs, they were warm but not hot. It was also a small portion, only 2 meatballs. I had the steak and cheese calzone. The bread itself was good and it was nice presentation but the cheese was an odd texture and the meat over cooked and unpleasant. I ended up leaving the entire calzone and not bothering boxing it up. Great food. The low priced cheese bread appetizer is large and delicious. Cost around $5. The pizza is good and priced well. Beer. Kinda pricey even for a restaurant. The atmosphere of the place is cool. Neat art on the walls and lots of tvs. My son and I love the booth behind the statue outside. We've photobombed countless tourists posing with it. Our servers have always been anywhere from good to outstanding. I will say eating out on Friday or Saturday nights isn't our thing. It involves crowds,waits and undoubtedly less service than if you went any other time. I got a feeling the bad reviews are from people that have a hard time figuring out stuff like that. The food is expensive but delicious. Gluten free crust is wonderful and the vegan cheese is really good. It lost stars for the service and server JD. His service was less than impressive. He failed on all counts. He brought out one of our pizzas cold. (Maybe not his fault) When we ask for it to be replaced he brought in the manager, who by the way wasn't much better than DJ in the end. He gave us a whole bucked full of excuses for why it was maybe cold before finally offering to fix a new one. DJ never checked back with us for refills he never stopped at our table after the replacement pizza arrived. But the woman that brought out the hot new pizza was wonderful. She was brief and to the point! Wish I knew her name. In the end it took DJ so long getting us our check we were starting to think we didn't owe anything. The service was great, and the food was even better My son ordered the small Mighty Meat, and it didn't disappoint on toppings. The adults indulged in the Kozmic Karma. Tomato, spinach, roasted red pepper drizzled with a pesto sauce. Very tasty. Very much worth the visit. We will definitely be returning. The wife wants to try the Thai Dye pie. Can't wait. Food was great! Server was friendly but service was meh. My husband and I and our 2 kids are vacationing in Branson and ate at your restaurant. My oldest ordered the Ritz burger but was brought a classic with no cheese. That was fixed. The food we had at the restaurant was great. My gluten free pizza was so good I ordered one to go. I ordered the buffalo chicken no bacon (because i have an allergy) GF, except when I got it it wasn't gluten free. We were told we could keep the mistake and they would make me another. We got the remake and headed back to our hotel and went to the pool for a swim. We came back wanting to have a slice and I discovered the remake has bacon on it. So now I have 2 mistakes that I cannot eat. One has gluten and the other bacon. I can't just pick off the baccon because of cross contamination. I was shocked at how much I liked this place. I had seen them around for years, at a few random cities I've traveled to, and frankly I assumed it was gimmick college stoner pizza. I can't speak for everywhere else, but the Branson location was great. Super clean and nice restaurant, and good pizza. Much of Missouri has bad chain pizza, but this is superior in every way. We've eaten at some of Mellow Mushroom's other locations and always enjoy their pizzas. This time our Italian sausage and pepperoni pizza was tasty but MM skimped on the sausage to the point we mostly had a pepperoni pizza. Customer service also lacked. We had a party of 8--difficult to accommodate in one spot but especially during lunch time. We said it was okay to seat us at two tables of four and not even close to each other. Our hostess had difficulty understanding that but once seated all was fine until I noticed there was an adjacent area containing tables that seated 8. It turned out those weren't available because the section wasn't used. Odd to have an eating area that's not available in a full restaurant. Besides the pizzas Mellow Mushroom is also know for it's hippy, trippy, 1960s psychedelic-influenced decor. Corporate seems to have toned it down in this location as it was less "funky" in family-friendly Branson. Most in our party--both groups--hadn't eaten at Mellow Mushroom before. Just as fresh and delicious as I remember it being from back home in Georgia! The Italian sandwich was yummy, well portioned, and of course fresh! A super fun place to eat on the landing. The staff is very friendly!!!! The host even ran to open the door for my Mom who is in a wheelchair. They have a pretty big menu, something for everyone a very vegetarian friendly place. I had the Veg Out Pizza, it was pretty good I love the garlic crust. The others in my party had burgers and they all enjoyed them. A little pricy but well worth it, also the service was amazing! The deco and music really suits the mood of the place. First off the good. I thought the pizza was great. The bad, was the seating policies. If I was an owner of this place I would be very upset to see how the establishment is being ran. On a Thursday afternoon, we were given a 30 minute wait time. After 50 minutes we were seated, and when seated observed that over half of the tables were empty in the restaurant. We were excited to have some delicious pizza n our first night in Branson! The food was great. We loved the pretzel bites and 3 varieties of pizza we ordered. Unfortunately, our service was awful! Our beers came out quickly, but the appetizer came out before our kids got their waters. After we had to ask for their drinks, we had no service by our original waitress or her trainee. We had to go to the bar to get more drinks because every time the servers walked by they intentionally looked the other direction. Firstly the food is very good. The pretzel bites were very buttery and garlic which we enjoyed. We got a large meatball pizza and was good just thought they were skimpy on the meat. It came out extremely hot and the center of the pizza just fell apart trying to dish it out. Makes me think they could have cooked it a little longer or started at a higher temp to firm up the crust. Now to the service. Worst service we have ever had. We ordered the frozen drinks in our refillable cups which took a long time to get out. We then ordered our pretzel bites and pizzas. My table had a total of 1 gluten free pizza and 1 large pizza with pretzel bites. We waited 30 minutes before asking the waitress about our pretzel bites. Then the GM comes over and apologizes giving excuses that the cooks have been problematic tonight with a few in training. He says he will comp the pretzel bites. Then another drink later the GF pizza comes. Then constant reminders from our waitress (Stephanie) that our pizza is 3rd up then 2nd then next. 1.5 hours after ordering our pizza does it finally arrive and was pretty tasty as noted above. I will give Stephanie credit she seemed to be covering too many tables but kept blaming the kitchen when there were 3 tables around us that got there food and were long gone before we even had a whiff of our pizza. She also talked to GM and we actually got all of our food free (~50 dollars waived) and just paid for drinks. It was just a giant mess. Overall food is 4 stars. Service is 1 Star. I still don't know exactly what happened since all the tables around us got their pizza in half the time. Makes me think they lost our ticket initially but I don't know. Were were just here a few days prior for drinks and apps and had great service but it was also half as busy. TLDR: wouldn't recommend when really busy, food and drinks are fun and tasty. read more
