But no cocktail is worth enjoying with roaches at your feet.

I wanted to nab something to enjoy later so I decided on getting their regular (not Cajun Dry Rub) Quesadilla to go (choice of chicken/beef). I had to bust into my to-go box to sample it while hot and enjoyed the quesadilla test bites also. It passed the "warm up and enjoy at home later" part of my day as well, I liked it. Throughout my visit, Matt was nice, helpful, and kept conversation going...good service. Despite the bit of a wait upon opening, The One Nine delivered a great lunch and would recommend visiting for a solid bar/pub menu and atmosphere.

One ale I recently tried I had to bring back to the counter as it was so warm I thought I'd accidentally been given a cask ale. Oddly, they weren't really apologetic about it and were happy to charge me for a different (colder) beer, even though I'd only taken a couple of sips from the ale. Not the biggest deal, but worth noting that you might want to ask for a sample before committing to a pint, if for no other reason than to verify it's being served at a temp you like.

I went right after it opened so it was pretty empty during my visit, but there's a ton of seating (both indoor and outdoor!) and I can imagine it gets pretty busy at peak hours. I grabbed a 10 oz pour of the flagship IPA and hung out for a few minutes. Honestly, the beer was not my favorite (and didn't taste much like an IPA to me at least...) but I guess that's personal opinion :) The bartender was nice and the vibes were solid inside. Overall, there are a bunch of breweries in the Triangle, so I'm not sure I'd come back to this one as my first choice, but if a friend wanted to meet me here I wouldn't complain :)

I feel as though my review of Mellow Mushroom in Cary may be a little redundant, due to it falling in line with the average of so many other reviews but i will share my thoughts. I'm from Atlanta and have been eating at Mellow Mushroom locations for over 20 years. I prefer the "old school" Mellow Mushroom to the corporate controlled recent expansion locations. Unfortunately, the primary attraction may have been gobbled up by the seemingly, cookie cutter feel of locations opened or built in recent years. When you walk in and eat at a location, say in Ashville or Athens, I believe it's there that you will have the originally intended experience. It feels as if the staff came together over a weekend and slapped paint on the walls and decorated themselves with little regard for "marketing" or "appeal". Speaking of the staff, this too seems to have lost some relevance at certain locations. I used to feel that every time I stepped foot in a Mellow Mushroom, the staff knew every menu item and every beer by heart. It almost always seemed as if they enjoyed working there more than anything. That alone can set the table for a great dining experience. I no longer experience this element. Further more, the employees often seemed bored, disengaged or preoccupied with various, unrelated goings on. This is the experience I usually get in Cary. I've watched the Cary location turn over several times in recent years from one restaurant to another and I do believe Mellow Mushroom hit a home run in that department. It's a beautiful building with a nice open bar, as well as enclosed and open patio seating. However, as i mentioned before, this is a huge departure from the feeling and experience of the "old school" Mellow Mushrooms. As far as the food and in particular, the pizza....good, really good. The dough is an original recipe and a little sweet (in a good way). It's probably not for everyone and they do not have an array of different crust styles as some places do but i think they make up for it with topping selection. So, why three stars? I have written this review based primarily on two things. 1. My long standing experience at a host of different locations in three states. 2. The complete dining expereince (ie food, atmosphere, staff, etc.) And I feel like Mellow Mushrooms best days are behind them. They feel manufactured now. They feel unoriginal now. I glanced at a few other reviews and saw the word "fine" or "consistant" used frequently. That describes it well and i don't think it warrants 4 or 5 stars. read more

While I wasn't particularly in love with waiting over 30 min. for a table on a Wednesday night, we really enjoyed our meal at the new Cary Mellow Mushroom. I'm glad we gave them over a month to get their deal together, because I think a lot of the kinks previously mentioned are mostly worked out. This place is dead in the middle of suburbia, so it's going to attract a lot of families, kids and long-ish wait times. We didn't notice a lot of blank-eyed teen employees or inattentive servers (ours, Ally, was great!) The hostess did her best with the buzzers and floods of groups of 4+ while we hung out in the lobby area. We ended up getting a table out on the patio, and even though it started raining, it was still a very pleasant place to eat. We went with the Spinach/Artichoke dip to start (because after our wait we were ravenous) and I love that it came with baked garlic toast (instead of chips or cold pita or the like). The toast was hot and crunchy, and the dip had just the right balance of cheese and veg. It was good enough to scoop up with a fork after the toasts were devoured. (Note: Dear Mellow Mushroom, this would be good on a pizza. Add bacon. Repeat.) I went with the Funky Q. Chicken pizza for my meal (bbq chicken, bacon, onions, etc.) and Jay got the Buffalo Chicken. Both were tasty and we didn't experience having all the toppings smushed in the middle - they were appropriately spread out! Mellow Mushroom crust is all kinds of covered in garlic and parm, so it hits the spot. A 10" is more food than I can consume by myself, but who doesn't love leftovers? Since this new Mellow Mushroom is within walking distance for us, I'm sure we'll be back for some fancy schmancy pizza combos in the future. read more

Our servers (yes two!) were wonderful, I believe the girl who mainly served us was training and did a wonderful job! The other male server also checked in after our service to ensure that the young lady did well and I greatly appreciated that. My wife and I definitely recommend coming here! read more

She even called me by my name each time that she answered a question. I created my own pizza. I got the original crust with the red sauce. I added pepperoni, sausage, and red onions and the when it was finished I got a drizzle of garlic pesto. This pizza was absolutely amazing. It didn't take long for me to get my order which is always a good thing. I just say that all of the employees were very nice and respectful. I loved my experience at Blaze. I will be back to try other pizza combinations.

The food was really good. The vegetables tasted fresh and they were very generous with the toppings even though I just ordered the standard pizza with no extras.
