Mellow Mushroom in Conyers is a really solid, consistent spot, and they have definitely earned a five-star review from me. We usually dine in and have always had a good experience. Service, timing, and consistency have never been an issue. The staff is reliable, the food comes out well, and the whole place has a cool, casual vibe with that modernized hippie feel, sports on the TVs, and a family-friendly atmosphere. One of my favorite options is the lunch special with a slice of pepperoni pizza, a little Greek salad, and Esperanza dressing. That dressing is unreal. Even if I am not getting a salad, I still want Esperanza dressing to dip my crust in. It is absolutely worth trying if you have not had it. I also really appreciate their sourdough crust. I have a mild sensitivity to some breads and pizza doughs, but Mellow Mushroom's crust is much easier on my stomach. I can enjoy their pizza without feeling terrible afterward, which makes a big difference. Their lunch special pizza is good, but their made-to-order pizzas are where they really shine. I would not necessarily call Mellow Mushroom my dream New Haven or New York style pizza, and I will absolutely travel for that kind of pizza when I am really craving it. But for what Mellow Mushroom is, they do it very well. They are consistent, tasty, dependable, and a great option to have here in Conyers. Overall, I have nothing bad to say. Pizza was good but not special or branding. Sat at bar, waited for about 10 minutes before bartender appeared, she confirmed my beer, poured and place it as far away from me as possible!!! No check back on pizza or beer, nor did the other 5 guests sitting at the bar get a check back. 4 of the 5 left before I did and their dirty plates stayed where they left them which prevented anyone else from sitting there. Now she was doing things, helping the team but totally disregarded her bar guests which should have been her main focus. In 50 plus years of dining out, this is the first time I didn't leave a tip. Ordered placed, 2 lunch specials: 2 pepperoni & sausage slices and a CHEESE slice with a salad. After about 20 minutes and watching everyone else who ordered before and after us get their food, I go to the counter to ask about it. The MANAGER inputted the incorrect table number when our ordered was placed. They bring one order but not the cheese pizza and salad. I finish a slice, see 2 other patrons get their food and walk back up to the counter to ask can we at least get the salad. The cashier flippantly replies that it's coming. I say, it's just a salad and it's been a full 30 minutes at this point. Shoulder shrug and says they had to remake it and walk off. Salad arrives. We wait another 7 minutes, still no CHEESE pizza. I go back to the counter, MANAGER says they are making it now. NOW???? It's been 30 minutes. Finally get the CHEESE slice and the manager is not apologetic, nothing. This restaurant is so funky.pretty inside. It gives a retro, in space kind of vibe. Great decor for a kids birthday or celebration. The restaurant was very busy but also quick to fulfill orders. It took about 15-20 minutes to get a pizza from scratch. The pizza itself though surprisingly was nothing to brag about. It was decorated pretty but tasted to bland. I also didn't get a chance to eat it right away. So, perhaps its better when you consume it hot , fresh and out of the oven. I would have to visit again to determine. read more

We've been longtime customers of Mellow Mushroom and have always considered it a go-to spot for a special treat, especially the calzones. Unfortunately, over time we've noticed a gradual decline in portion size and overall quality. On our most recent visit to the Conyers GA-20 location, we spent $69.02 on two small pizzas and a calzone. The calzone in particular was noticeably smaller and less satisfying than what we remember from past visits, and both pizzas felt a bit underwhelming in preparation, including arriving uncut. Overall, the experience didn't reflect the value or consistency we used to associate with this restaurant. This feedback comes from disappointment rather than frustration. We genuinely remember when this location felt like a reliable treat and would like to see it return to that standard. We hope this is helpful feedback for improvement. read more

I love Mellow Mushroom! Every time I come with friends it's always lively, fast paced and entertaining. It's located by the Honda Dealership in Conyers. A very convenient location since you're about 5-10 minutes away from I-20. Since the location is so convenient and by everything, the wait time can be a tad overwhelming. It's sort of a self-seating pizza spot since crowds can be by the masses. There are plenty of TVs showing the latest sporting game. Expect to be picked on, yelled at, called *itch, or, if you're a young parent, accosted, by two problem customers at the bar who are welcomed by the bartender, stripper name "Asia." These two obnoxious customers have prevented me from taking the last seat at the bar, claiming their friend was on her way. An hour later no friend. This has happened twice. The last time it happened I quietly protested and asked if the seat was available. The husband, a Rockdale County firefighter, stood up, bowed up, and yelled at me to "quit being a bitch." I asked for my check and left, the bartender "Asia" grinning. I am a 64 year old woman. This behavior towards me is inexcusable. Just now, a gentleman with Super Bowl squares offered me the chance to play. The obnoxious customers wife ran over to the guy and prevented me from playing because their friend was coming later and the squares needed to be saved for her. What is this? Mean girls? Roller derby? Obnoxious wife was a flight attendant with a major airline. I wonder why that came to an abrupt end. What Mellow Mushroom needs to understand is that these two obnoxious customers are the bartenders friends, and she permits and even enjoys watching them bully me. I thought the gentleman that took my order was rude. I've always loved Mellow Mushroom and their staff has always been super friendly in the past, but I wasn't pleased with my experience on my last visit. I ordered 2 pizzas for take out. One was a meat lovers and the other was a white pizza. Both pizzas were great. I wanted one of the mix drinks to take back to the house but they aren't doing that now. I liked it during Covid when they would allow you to carry out drinks. My rating would be 5 for the food, 1 for the rude dude who wasn't friendly or helpful when I was placing my order. I give it 4 out of 5 stars because IMHO, a better setup is needed to determine who is waiting to be seated because people were pushing in around me to get on the waiting list. I get they are short-handed but. I was standing there with a cane and my service dog. Given the fact that that someone asked to see the card for my service dog, they saw me standing there and what people were doing. Rather than make an issue, I waited. Just ordered a pizza today. It's usually pretty good, but usually a little dry, so I started asking for extra sauce and that makes it better. I did the same thing today, however, who ever was making the pizzas decided to put triple the amount of sauce anyone should put on a pizza, causing it to be super soggy. It was as if we ordered a lasagna pizza. It was so drenched that the dough didn't fully cook. On top of that, it seemed like they just threw all the toppings and cheese in the center , without trying to spread it evenly throughout the pizza. Pizza was good. Service was terrible A lady sat us but didn't give us menus or utensils. We sat there for about 15 minutes when someone stopped by and asked us what we wanted. Still no menus or utensils. Told her we needed menus another 5 minutes later menus but no utensils. She came back took our order still no utensils. Received our food no utensils. This was a good five minutes after I was asked whether I wanted inside or outside. I finally got seated and waited. And waited. Another maybe 7-8 minutes without even being looked at by a server, I walked. Went down the street to Atlanta Pizza. Not my favorite pizza but really really nice people working there. I was seated about 30 seconds after I walked in and had a small Greek salad infant of my in under three minutes. Every time I asked for something, the server said "of course". Friends don't let friends eat bad pizza...Evette The moral of the story is that my friend (a resident of Newton County) was raving about this place...the crust, the fresh ingredients, the flavors and how "those hippies sure make a great tasting pizza!" (In that amazing Georgian accent that I love so much!) So...after meeting up with a (new) friend (met during her time vacationing in Vegas) in Covington, my daughter and I stopped in for a medium cheese pizza, for her and the Enlightened salad with Esperanza dressing (Esperanza is my late moms name and it means HOPE:), for me. My salad was perfect, my daughter really enjoyed the pizza and my friends got to enjoy the remaining slices she couldn't finish. We ordered at the counter and brought the food home to enjoy. Bottom line...it's a great food establishment, the staff were lovely folks, it was busy inside so be patient, I believe you can order online (do it), I tried calling in our order but cell reception was spotty and the employee could barely hear me. I had her on speaker as I was driving **fail**on my part...And lastly, if you check in on Yelp (tell them whilst you're placing the order), you RECEIVE FREE pretzel bites (we call them garlic knots out west)!
