Ambiance was super informal and adds to the vibe of what you're eating. Also unrelated but the cashier/server has a super calming energy/presence/voice which totally added to the vibe

It looked It was straight out of a saw movie. In comparison, the restaurant itself was actually really clean. So I think management needs to put a scrub brush and bleach in the employee's hands. Second gripe, when I did my mobile order, I asked for them to give me an absurd amount of oil and vinegar. And they didn't, BUT, already expecting that to be overlooked, I asked the guy for a couple to go containers so I was set. Oh and it didn't give me any cutlery, but I have some on board so no big deal. The employee that I dealt with was super nice and super professional. I ordered an Italian bowl and was able to customize my ingredients. Man, it was so good. It was also the perfect size meal for me at least. I've eaten at a few different Jersey Mike's across the country, throughout the years, and I can't really say that I've ever had a bad or subpar sandwich from them. I mean they make it right in front of you. The Jersey Mike's by my house, the workers seem mentally challenged but whatever I digress. So yeah I got back to my truck and ate my bowl, I just finished it and I drank the leftover oil and vinegar at the bottom of my bowl. No major complaints, so I don't figure you will have any either! This will always be my #3 favorite sandwich shop, only topped by a local deli in my old neighborhood called "Hello Deli" that has been in business for decades, and then of course my all time #1 fav, Quiznos! She was great with my kids and when our pretzel bite appetizer was going to take a while, she even offered a bag of chips for my "hangry" 6 year old! Both the pulled chicken and pulled pork were tender, well cooked and full of flavor. The sauces were particularly good. The Kansas City style was sweet and savory, while the Carolina mustard sauce was tangy with just enough kick. Both were excellent with the barbecue. As usual, dining out for us requires a little more homework than simply deciding what sounds good. Between the two of us, we bring a tree nut allergy, Alpha-Gal syndrome, a gluten allergy and dairy sensitivity to the table -- with diabetes thrown in as the kicker, just in case ordering dinner was getting too easy. Our waiter seemed to genuinely understand the allergy issues and was confident in the restaurant's ability to accommodate them. He was friendly, helpful and made us comfortable with our choices. When you're dealing with actual food allergies, that confidence and knowledge matter. The dining room was spacious, clean and had a good casual barbecue atmosphere. There was also a live band playing while we were there, which we weren't expecting but ended up really enjoying. They were good, although the music made things a little loud. Wholly Smokin' works well for a casual date, getting together with friends or just a good everyday meal. Town Hall checked those boxes for me a couple of years ago, so when work brought me back to Florence, I knew exactly where I wanted to eat. I looked at other options first, but nothing appealed to me at quite the same level. Town Hall's farm-driven, Southern-inspired menu, shareable plates and beautiful setting won me over again. And I'm happy to report: the second visit was every bit as memorable as the first. We started with the house-made cornbread and honey butter at our server's recommendation. Be warned: this stuff is dangerous. Hot, sweet and almost cake-like, with that honey butter melting into it. We promptly ordered another basket. Cocktails were equally impressive. I ordered a Sidecar, and when our server asked my cognac preference, my colleague volunteered Hennessy. Hennessy it was--and it made one spectacular Sidecar. For dinner, our server described a scallop special served over a shrimp étouffée-style preparation with microgreens. Sold. I paired that with the wedge salad because, well, I needed some roughage. The wedge came beautifully dressed with blue cheese, tomatoes, pickled red onion and bacon. The scallops were beautifully seared and tender, and the rich sauce underneath made the dish. My dining companions joined the fun with the house-made sausage, another order of the scallops, and a ribeye with French fries swapped in for the creamed corn--a little steak frites moment. Everything landed beautifully. What impressed me almost as much as the food was the service choreography. Our server was knowledgeable, personable and attentive without hovering. There was thoughtful table touching throughout the evening. Our dishes arrived together, and no plates disappeared while someone else was still eating. Those details may seem small, but polished hospitality lives in those details. We were far too full for dessert, so we called it a night--happy, well-fed and already talking about how good everything had been. Town Hall is the kind of restaurant I hope to find when traveling for work: locally driven, interesting food, strong cocktails, beautiful surroundings and service that understands hospitality. Two visits several years apart, and both delivered. If you're in Florence--or passing through South Carolina on your way toward the coast--Town Hall is worth making part of the trip.
