We visited Mellow Mushroom and the place was crowded, so we had to wait a bit for a table, but it was worth it. We started with the pretzel bites and beer cheese dip, which were very good. They were more like pizza crust bites than traditional pretzels, but they tasted great with the beer cheese dip. For the main course, we ordered the Pacific Rim pizza. It was delicious and loaded with toppings. Overall, this is a really good pizza place and definitely worth visiting. read more

We hadn't gone to Mellow Mushroom since my husband went vegan and then heard that they have vegan cheese option so had to try. I decided to make my own - ricotta (no mozzarella), mushrooms and meatballs while hubby went for vegan vegetarian pizza. We both loved it and service was efficient and place crowded on a Friday night with tons of takeout orders also being filled. We came in at dinner having skipped lunch. The ambiance is groovy and hip . We love the oldies rocking overhead while you enjoy the meal.Our waitress Emily was very good and we enjoyed pleasant conversation with her. The greek salad was fresh and good with the red wine vinaigrette. The white pizza can't be beat. We have been to Fini's, Nancy's. Fellini's etc. but always return here. I have been a customer of Mellow Mushroom pizza restaurants since I've moved to Atlanta in 1991. Many locations of the restaurant has closed over the years but I have patronized this location since it opened. That came to an end after the attitude displayed by the "manager" on duty this past Saturday evening. I order via the MM webpage for one pizza on Saturday evenings. I always arrive 10 or 15 minutes after the time given to me when the item will be completed. However I arrived this past Saturday night and noticed a number of people milling around outside the door to the restaurant, and inside the door of the restaurant Since there is no space inside for people just stand and wait for orders. I asked at the young girl at the hostess desk for my order and she left to check in the back for it. She returned to tell me it would be another 20 minutes. I told her that the order was supposed to be ready at 7:05 PM, after making the order at 6:24 PM, it was now 7:10 PM. The original quote of 40 minutes should have been enough time to fulfill this single order, but the hostess remarked "things have been backed up all day." It didn't take much to realize this restaurant "in the weeds" as they say. There were 4 other people besides myself waiting on their orders and 2 different "delivery" drivers. It was clear to me that they were not going to start orders until the person actually arrived to pick up their order. Is this a problem with staffing? It's never been like this before. Each and every person who is waiting for their order should have been offered compensation of some type ... Whether it was a free appetizer to go or a drink and a seat on the unoccupied patio furniture outside the door. When the hostess finally returned from the kitchen with my order after 20 minutes, I inquired "so that's it? You're giving me this one pizza and no compensation for this extra wait?" She decides to retrieve her manager. After a few minutes another girl walked out with an attitude on her face and her arms folded and claimed that she was the manager. Everything became clear then and I said so. I realize I would get nowhere with this girl so I left, but not quick enough so I was able to hear the hostess inquire "did you talk to that customer?" To which the "manager" replied "no I threw him out" (no, you didn't miss thing, I decided to leave and contact corporate about your attitude. Are you certain that you're cut out for this type of job because everything indicates that you're not.) Do the management staff at this restaurant get any type of customer service training... or even training whatsoever because management incompetence this past Saturday evening was clearly showing. It would've been smarter to cut off online orders entirely if you had been backed up all day or had been having staff problems. Other companies shut off online ordering on a regular basis. Don't accept orders if you don't have the staff to fill them! There are plenty of other pizza restaurants in the area to choose from And I will be choosing anything other than this Mellow Mushroom. read more

Amazing atmosphere and service! We sat and relaxed, listening to America and Paul Simon play on the speakers, as we enjoyed the Enlightened spinach salad and some garlic cheese bread. They have a new apple champagne vinaigrette which I hadn't tried before and paired with the salad perfectly. I then had a gluten free Holy Shiitake pie which was perfectly crunchy and warm! The entire restaurant is clean, quaint, and has a very homey vibe to it, which was so comforting to us as we're about to travel tonight. The pizza is pricey but it's really good. They are very generous with the toppings and it's fresh. Love the crust and it's cooked perfectly. Bought 3 pizzas for myself and my students (I am a high school teacher) since they stayed after one day to help reset the classroom. I ordered 1 pepperoni, 1 cheese, and my order of: gluten free crust, garlic and oil base, vegan cheese, tempeh, caramelized onions, & roasted tomatoes. We had the pizza delivered and it took no time at all. If I could rate zero stars I would, don't come here they're wings come so crispy you will chip a tooth, they pre-cooked their wings and re-cook them again. my first time they were able to cook them properly last time I came here but this time the guy said it will always be crispy worst customer service ever. Glad I didn't pay a damn thing. BTW their pizza is nasty go to Pizza Huts or Papa Johns. One of their employees said he was sorry and as a bonus replaced that food item without an extra charge added to our bill. They were nice enough to even allow us to watch their television so we would have something to do to pass our time while we waited. Don't order for delivery. It will never show up and the manager will keep telling lies just to get you off the phone. My order was so late that everything was cold. The manager just made excuses and had no interest in making things right. First time ordering and last. Update. Tried to reheat by following their directions and using a proper pizza sheet. Results? A hot soggy mess. This order sat around so long there was no reviving it. The manager will not make it right and I'm stuck with a inedible pile of crap. Very average pizza place. Nothing too special here. The food was okay and it was a quick easy stop for lunch. The cashier seemed like he may not have been completely there that day, the manager was really nice, not much staff was working during lunch time so couldn't really get a full gauge on them. Didn't seem like they were too busy at lunch time, so you won't have to worry about fighting for seats here.
