Came for breakfast...wished we hadn't. Service was extremely slow....a minimum of 20 minutes to get the food and it wasn't even busy. I ordered the stuffed French toast on challah. It read like it was going to be glorious, but when it finally came, it was served cold and the French toast aspect was basically non existent. The challah seemed to have a fleeting moment in the egg wash, so it was extremely dry and well, boring. The compote was ok. "Stuffed" is also relative as everything was just on top of the wanna be French toast. It looked delicious, just wasn't. My kids split the jack cakes and they didn't care for them. It was more corn mealy than buttermilk. Their order was also cold - pancake, eggs, bacon. Maybe a cold breakfast is the standard. The fastest thing served to us was the bill. We won't be coming back for the 'best breakfast in town' and don't recommend it for you unless you're interested in subpar service with extremely lackluster food. read more

Went here for lunch ans breakfast before. Overall food is good and price reasonable. 2 things we had from there are phenomenal. First off, the holy shitake pizza is amazing. White cheese my a variety of mushrooma topped with a truffle aoili. The truffle flavor really comes through in the aoili and tied the earthy flavors of the different really well. Their french toast is amazing best French toast ive ever had. I'm usually not a big french toast fan and I love it here. Steak and eggs breakfast was good $9.95 Steak was just a steak but the butter mushroom topping added a nice touch, comes with 3 eggs and choice of toast or fruits or biscuit, I added side of green chili gravy for small charge. Their biscuit is good the size of a grapfruit. Green chilli gravy was ok - green chili flavor was there but the consistancy is not thick and creamy as gravy should be. Best breakfast in The Valley! French press coffee with tantalizing. Steak and eggs was spot on. Nice breakfast cut of steak thick enough to actually cook appropriately. Their steak butter is deliciously rich. Potatoes are fantastic. We also had JohnnyCakes, always a nice treat! The cornflour added a nice sweet flair to the buttermilk batter. Cooked to perfection lightly crisped on the edges and moist inside. Definitely return for this uncommon delectable! Service is always attentive without being irritating. We waited to be seated, but NO ONE EVER showed up. A few people glanced our way, but never made ANY effort to assist us. We asked one of the cooks/chefs behind the food counter and he assured us that someone would be with us shortly, but NO ONE SHOWED. Just wanted to do another review since my wife and I have gone back several times since my last review. The service continues to be excellent and the food is well prepared and consistently of high quality. I want to give special thanks to the bar manager Jenna, she goes out of her way to insure that I get the drink that I like and always prepares it well. In fact, when she sees us come in, she starts preparing it because she remembers what I like. She has a great personality, and always seems to enjoy her customers. Anthony is another great waiter (now manager) that is always welcoming and gives great service. We tend to eat late and it is really great that they serve food until 1 AM, one of the few East Valley that does so, other than the breakfast type establishments (IHOP, Denny's). This place has a genius for a beer purchaser behind the scenes and she's more than willing to ensure she is leaps and bounds ahead of her competition. There is a catch: Proper beer glassware is non-existent and the bartenders don't seem to care about the luxuries their purchaser gets for them to sell. I wish I had the chance to talk with their purchaser as I am sure she has some great stories to tell and some excellent beer recommendations. Storage space seems to be the reason why the beer glassware is lacking however if they had some snifter glasses they would be a must stop every week! We ate at this location last night. Our spinach artichoke appetizer was served on a plastic, stained worn dish. The bread served with the dish was not toasted it was stale and cold. I recently stopped in Mellow Mushroom for lunch. I used to live in Atlanta for several years and was well familiar with the chain. I don't recall visiting any Arizona locations in the past, and this location was built just a few months ago, so certainly my first time here. The weather was beautiful and they had a nice outside bar seating section. The other side of the bar was also enjoyed benefit from the open air. I decided to go with a pepperoni and mushroom calzone. I knew the food was good and it certainly lived up to the expectations. What really surprised me was the bar and the not only the number of craft beers, but the number of exceptionally good ones. Over 40 taps of draught beer and an excellent selection of bottles. Stouts are my favorite and they have a great selection that day from Prairie Artisan Barrel Aged Bible Belt, to Big Bad Baptista, Elevation Cinnamon Oil Man, to a variety of other styles. They also have a happy hour that I would love to check out the next time. If you are looking for a great pizza and an incredible selection of beer (and draughts coming in at 16oz and 20oz), this is the place! read more

Their specialty pies are an experience that you won't find at any other pizzeria (opt for the Holy Shiitake, it's incredible) The reason this location gets less than 5 stars is that their pizzas are not of consistent quality. Opt for thin crust or else your $30 pizza might be majority crust with a small cheese center. Ok, as a former Atlantan, this downturn in quality at my local mellow mushroom is a little disheartening. Our waitress tonight was amazing and on point. Service and detail oriented, each star of this review go to her. Food was ok. Nothing brilliant but ok. Price is on the high side - over 3 bucks for a coke (yikes) and our medium pizza with two toppings was over 20 bucks. That's ok because we're mellow mushroom fans from way back. The restaurant was pretty empty for 730 on a Saturday night and oddly empty as compared to their fellow eateries across the parking lot and street. We thought it strange that we got right in without a wait when all the other spots were packed. Pizza is pizza. Hard to screw up. For the relative emptiness- service was a touch slow but overall fine. Our biggest complaint- gnats swarming us at our table - while eating - gross. Both my husband and I found ourselves swatting gnats away from our faces and food multiple times during the meal. This restaurant is barely a year old. I suspect a dirty bar with dried up sugary food sources as the main attraction for the gnats. Hope this isn't a sign of serious issues. Ps - please bring back the cinnamon sugar pretzels. read more

We drove from South Chandler to the Mesa location to pickup a phone in order. The order wasn't ready, which was fine as they told us 30 minutes and our drive was 20 minutes. We ended up waiting another 20 minutes for our order. Luckily I checked our pizzas and noticed mushrooms were missing on one of them, but had added sausage which we didn't order. The bar tender was great and had some mushrooms added on for us. Unfortunately, I didn't check my salad until I got home. I ordered a garden salad with ranch dressing and ended up with a Caesar salad....I dislike that salad so much, so that went to waste. I've been to this location probably half a dozen times and each time the food is pretty good and the service is friendly and attentive. I have been here once when they must had been down a cook or two because after waiting for an hour to get our order we left. It only happened the one time so I figured something happened and the restaurant was kind of stuck that night. Aside from that this place is usually a sure bet on a decent meal for a decent price. I would say if you want a good variety to choose from with a relaxed vibe this would be a good place to choose. Mellow Mushroom won't be the best pizza you've had but its pretty good! read more

The entire time we saw the waiter 2 times and it took an hour to make 2 entrees. The employees were more concerned with socializing with their friends. Also the food is very overpriced. Would've liked to give this place 5 stars but the wait for the pizza was terrible. I think we waited about 45min after ordering our food before we got it to the table.
