Excellent breakfast this morning at the Mellow Mushroom.service was attentive and pleasant. We began with a pot of French pressed coffee which was hot and very good. My husband ordered the flapjacks with sausage patties and eggs over easy. I ordered the single waffle with a berry compote. Two eggs and a breakfast meat were included with this meal. I did pass on the meat. Everything was well prepared and tasty. A good portion was taken home to enjoy on another day. The prices are very reasonable, the place is clean and there is plenty of parking. We are looking forward to another breakfast at the Mellow Mushroom and hope the great service and food continues. The restaurant's air conditioner keeps the place chilly. You may want to come prepared. read more

The good: The atmosphere and decor. This restaurant is very pleasing aesthetically. Management is good. We ordered a pizza and when it came out, the manager wasn't happy with how it looked and said it was over cooked. So they gave us that pizza but told us they had already started a new one so we would be getting that one too. I appreciate them noticing the poorly cooked pizza and fixing it! The bad: Everything else, sadly. Our waiter was inattentive. After bringing us our drinks, we didn't see him again for over 10 minutes. The place wasn't busy at all and I could see him chatting with the table outside. The garlic cheese bread was missing garlic. The salads had so much onion in them, I couldn't taste anything else. They are huge but it's all lettuce and onion. And the ham on my salad was a big wad of ham lunch meat slices. It wasn't diced, I don't know what I'm supposed to do with that? And it was incredibly fatty. The salad bowls had a layer of brown on the bottom - dirt maybe? I don't know, I didn't notice until I had eaten as much as I could. And then the pizza.... it lacked flavor. There was hardly any sauce. We got half pepperoni and half Pacific Rim and the only thing you could taste on the Pacific Rim was the occasional jalapeño. The one star is because there was no wait, but maybe the empty parking lot was an indication of the service inside idk. We had a part of 8, three of them children so pivoting from the hour wait at Tx Roadhouse, opted for Mellow-mushroom in the same plaza. In retrospect, the hour wait was the better option. We were seated immediately and then ordered the kids food while we still decided - we were one of about 4 families there at the time. My granddaughters food came out and immediately I checked her meal and her mac and cheese was cold. It had been sitting- the kitchen staff who brought it out (turned out he was the mgr), said he would warm it up - no apology. We then ordered our food- my daughter has a dairy allergy and ordered her pizza no cheese. Food came out, instead of no cheese, they added vegan cheese. That had to go back and was remade with no cheese but also one less topping. By this time our drinks were empty (water, soda) and a beer that sat at the bar waiting for another server to bring. We ordered sundaes for the kids and wings to go but after 20 minutes, and a full table of empty dishes we requested a manager - the same one who warmed up the mac and cheese. I let him know about lack of service, inaccurate items and he said they were swamped in the back - which we had been there over an hour when it was only 4 families, including us and nothing had changed from quality of service. Sophia, our server not once came to check if we needed anything other than when it was time to pay and asked if we wanted anything else lol! She never came to offer to grab empty dishes or even bothered to write down my daughter's special request of no cheese, which could be detrimental to someones health. Another server said Sophia had a 30 table top reservation which doesnt excuse her lack of quality service overall, especially when we had been there way before her reservation or the families that showed up after. Zac the manager seemed unapologetic- yes he said sorry they were swamped - but honestly the apology was not genuine and he more so just wanted go deal with it and get back to the kitchen - fine. But when you have a nearly empty restaurant and a large family dining but their assigned server never checks on them, doesnt have bussers or themselves empty tables accordingly and are only interested in what you may want when it's time to pay - that is a problem! It's definitely worth the wait elsewhere to avoid going here unless you're going to sit at the bar and have drinks because they moved quickly and were attentive - Sophia was not - Zac could care less - and the near empty parking lot is a clear sign of the lack of quality service you're going to get. read more

Mellow Mushroom is one of my favorite places! And I discovered it is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner! The big biscuit sandwich and coffee press French Roast was awesome and delicious! Can't say enough about the pizza. Any kind you want, you will be pleased. Salad the same as it is fresh and presentation is appealing as well. Great place and will continue to return. I was so looking forward to coming here. But unfortunately the service was a total let down! Came in at 930pm on 6/17 and was greeted by a host that obviously needs to be trained on how to do a his job. He was asking every customer if they wanted booth, outside, or table. (In a very timid and awkward way) When he go to us he was about to give us the same spiel, but we went ahead and said booth. And he was all awkward,and laughed, and handed the menus to the hostess who took us to our table. No "thank you for coming", no "how many people today", and definitely no "how are you doing tonight". So we waited and chatted for a bit and couldn't help but notice that all the tables around us were dirty and needed to be bussed. And as we waited, we witnessed several employees just walk by it not even taking notice. After 20 min of not even getting water or greeted by a server, we decided to walk out. And we knew they knew we were there. We saw several employees looking over at us or helping another table. The place wasn't even half full? We just found this to be utterly unacceptable! As we made our way towards the exit, the same host was still at his post. He did not make any eye contact with us or or say anything like "thank you" or "please come back". Overall, I am sure the food is fantastic here. But we were not able to taste or purchase anything due to the lack of service here. In my opinion, that host should either be fired or put into a different position. And the staff needs to be trained to treat customers with importance and have a since of urgency. read more

Went there for the first time last night. Pleasant place I guess. Sat outside. Asked to have the heater turned on, never happen. I ordered a protein burger. It was sold to someone else and had to wait longer. Better yet it was not even right when it came out. It was dry and with no Caramelized Onions. The other orders were not brought out together. This place is hit and miss. Our first visit shortly after it opened was perfect! Their S'Mores nitro was delicious and perfectly poured, the pizza was cooked evenly and loaded with tasty topping, hummus and pretzel bites spot on. The next visit was not so great. The beers were bitter and my pizza was burned on the bottom. The other's at my table were fine though so maybe it was a one off. I will give the place another chance to live up to the first visit, but it seems like they may have a lot to iron out. One meal was missing an ingredient . The manager came to the table, reeked of smoke and while resting his dirty fingernail hand all over our napkins, proceeded to tell us we were wrong. The other meal was not prepared as requested. The server was friendly enough and had the kitchen remake the order. Our server checked up on us only twice- 3 times in the first hour we were there, our waters were never refilled, or alcohol, until we walked up to the bar and asked, after watching them just standing around. Good food but bad service. Hostess does not greet you. Simple says "who's next" and takes 10 minutes between seating people. Got our appetizer, and had to ask for plates and tableware. The server accidently dropped the salad dressing and it spilled on the table. He didn't come back to clean it up. We did. Our bill was wrong and the manager had an attitude. Really good food and customer service! My husband and I came here with our 11 month daughter. Our server, Kaelin, was wonderful. She put in our daughter's order asap and had it out quickly. Our pizza ended up getting burnt so they had to remake it. The manager came out and apologized and offered us the pizza for free as well as any salad while we waited. I'm really shocked to see negative reviews. I've been to this Mellow Mushroom 2xs since it has opened and both me and the people I have been with loved it. Both times I went on a Saturday night and at the most waited 15 min to be seated. The small salad was big enough to share for two people. My favorite pizza so far for this meat lover has been the veggie. The veggie had tofu on it, which sounds like it wouldn't work but actually complimented the pie nicely. But I think the wow factor is their crust. I don't know what's in it, but it is so dang good. They had a huge selection of beer and spirits and their regular drinks come in gi-normous cups so you will never need a refill. Will be back again soon fo sho! read more

We tried this location using a Groupon last week. It was a weeknight, and not very busy. Our server was nice. We shared a house salad which was just "okay". It was missing the cheese it said it had on the menu. We ordered a large pizza with the works. I forget what it's called, but it had several meats and veggies. It was delicious. We are big Mellow Mushroom fans - and we used to frequent the one in downtown Chattanooga when we lived there. When my son asked me to find one for his 7th birthday - I was so glad to discover the Mesa location. It was the right choice!! First, what a fun environment! Lots of great decorations - yet very clean and with a nice touch of a feel of fine dining- there is no question the folks who run this place take pride in what they do and how they do it! We had the good fortune of sitting at Bryce's table. He was a phenomenal server. From the minute we sat down, he was friendly, attentive, and very efficient. He was great with the kids and my birthday boy was thrilled! Bryce brought large drinks but with lids so there was no spilling. We liked him so much that my husband asked for the manager to pass along the compliment. The Assistant General Manager Anthony, was a breath of fresh air. He was engaging, funny, and a really nice guy - who runs a great establishment. He was on top of the restaurant but took the time to chat with us. He and Bryce both made us feel so welcome. Breakfast menu has a nice variety, Saturday crowd wasn't busy with no wait. Service was good. I ordered a ice coffee with cream. Very plain nothing special. On the menu I think it says 3.99 for an ice coffee. Finished the first and ordered another thinking it would be free for a refill. Got my check and was charged 2x 5.50 for each plain ice coffee. Asked my waiter see if he could do anything about the coffee. I guess the manager could only change the price to 3.99 like it says on the menu instead of being charged 5.50 for each coffee. Mellow Mushroom is our family's go to place for dinner. The food doesn't skimp on flavor and they have the best happy hour in the valley. Our first experience many months ago our server was Anthony. He went out of his way to walk us through the menu and he blew us away with his knowledge of the bar menu. He's polite, efficient, knowledgeable and by far the friendliest server at Mellow. We've come back week after week always asking for Anthony. The food is awesome, but Anthony keeps us coming back.
