Really good food and customer service! My husband and I came here with our 11 month daughter. Our server, Kaelin, was wonderful. She put in our daughter's order asap and had it out quickly. Our pizza ended up getting burnt so they had to remake it. The manager came out and apologized and offered us the pizza for free as well as any salad while we waited. We thought that was very nice of them to do that. We had the Maui Wowie pizza and it was INCREDIBLE! Amazing flavors and perfect crust. We also enjoyed their meatball appetizer. Good food but bad service. Hostess does not greet you. Simple says "who's next" and takes 10 minutes between seating people. Got our appetizer, and had to ask for plates and tableware. The server accidently dropped the salad dressing and it spilled on the table. He didn't come back to clean it up. We did. Our bill was wrong and the manager had an attitude. He fixed it but was clearly annoyed. And to top it all off, when I got the charge in my bank account, it was $2 higher than it should have been. Take out is fine but service stinks. read more

****updating review**** The owner contacted me to discuss and asked me to come back for a 2nd try. I have not had the chance to do so, but the owner reaching out and reading reviews says a lot. I'll try to again and see how it goes :) I get that this is a laid back kind of place but that shouldn't mean little to no attention. The food was decent. Although it does take a while to come out. We were all pretty pleased with it. Our waitress however was pretty lax. She took our drink order. Forgot the lemons someone asked for and didn't offer sweetener. I know I ordered unsweetened tea but that's because I want to control the sweetness content myself. We pretty much didn't see her again. Our drinks remained unfilled until another waiter asked if we would like refills (she did refill the water, but we had tea and sodas at the table). The pizza came out, brought out by someone else. And we had no plates. So she brought us plates. The two people who helped our table were more present and friendlier than the waitress we had. Before we were even done eating she was quick to ask about dessert and bring us our check though. Which I find offensive as you're trying to push us out. Sorry the tip wasn't very good but you didn't really do much. Laid back shouldn't mean bad service. Had she acknowledged her absence or forgetting lemons or anything... we would have been more forgiving. But nothing. We probably won't be back. read more

We are big Mellow Mushroom fans - and we used to frequent the one in downtown Chattanooga when we lived there. When my son asked me to find one for his 7th birthday - I was so glad to discover the Mesa location. It was the right choice!! First, what a fun environment! Lots of great decorations - yet very clean and with a nice touch of a feel of fine dining- there is no question the folks who run this place take pride in what they do and how they do it! We had the good fortune of sitting at Bryce's table. He was a phenomenal server. From the minute we sat down, he was friendly, attentive, and very efficient. He was great with the kids and my birthday boy was thrilled! Bryce brought large drinks but with lids so there was no spilling. We liked him so much that my husband asked for the manager to pass along the compliment. The Assistant General Manager Anthony, was a breath of fresh air. He was engaging, funny, and a really nice guy - who runs a great establishment. He was on top of the restaurant but took the time to chat with us. He and Bryce both made us feel so welcome. We will definitely be back and will likely be regulars! Hang on to these two guys. They make a nice chain restaurant really stand out. Worth the trip!! read more

Breakfast menu has a nice variety, Saturday crowd wasn't busy with no wait. Service was good. I ordered a ice coffee with cream. Very plain nothing special. On the menu I think it says 3.99 for an ice coffee. Finished the first and ordered another thinking it would be free for a refill. Got my check and was charged 2x 5.50 for each plain ice coffee. Asked my waiter see if he could do anything about the coffee. I guess the manager could only change the price to 3.99 like it says on the menu instead of being charged 5.50 for each coffee. Mellow Mushroom is our family's go to place for dinner. The food doesn't skimp on flavor and they have the best happy hour in the valley. Our first experience many months ago our server was Anthony. He went out of his way to walk us through the menu and he blew us away with his knowledge of the bar menu. He's polite, efficient, knowledgeable and by far the friendliest server at Mellow. We've come back week after week always asking for Anthony. The food is awesome, but Anthony keeps us coming back. The food was delicious but the customer service sucked. I ordered curbside pickup, there was no designated signs, I waited a bit and just went inside. There were was one table occupied and people sitting at the bar. I was pointed to the area where to pick up by the hostess. Stood there 5-10 minutes, finally the busy bartender asked if I was helped yet. He seemed to be the only one working with the customers. 3 girls were folding togo boxes and 1 other was walking around talking. This place just opened by my house and we love pizza but my sister worked at the one on mill & said they treat their employees horribly & has nothing but negative things to say about the company so we've been hesitant to try it. We are here now and the menu is chaotic, hard to read & cares more about being cool then delivering what they have to offer in a clear fast manor. We finally deciphered the menu we ordered 2 small pizzas. Waited 35 mins for them to come out & paid $13.00 a piece for them.... the short of it is our bill is double what We'd pay at a place where the pizza is good & I can name 10 places I'd rather eat pizza 9 of them are cheaper & all are faster. The serves was fine no problems there I actually felt bad for the servers as my sister had told me so many stories. We won't be back. read more

This is the first time here. Service was awesome and very helpful with suggestions. Beer was really good. Ordered meatball appetizer, flavors were good but meatballs were over cooked, still tasted good. Pizza was awesome and they use real mozzarella unlike some the the big pizza joints. The service was really good, everyone was really friendly and helpful. I ordered food ahead of time and went to pick it up, wasn't ready so I sat at the bar and got a drink. I don't mind that it wasn't ready because I came earlier than I was told, but what annoyed me is the price of food and the low quality of said food. I got spinach dip and a medium veggie pizza and the total was $39.64. I was confused on why the amount was so high, then had to pretend to place an order online to actually get the prices of things. They charge $25.99 for a MEDIUM pizza, at Spinelli's they charge $18 for a medium and the quality is so much freaking better like holy crap. I finally get my pizza and spinach dip, spinach dip was dank but I was expecting some gormet pizza for the amount they are charging. Now let me tell you, this was the crappiest pizza I have eaten thus far in Arizona. When I say I can get a better pizza at dominos I mean it, and for half the freaking price! The crust had zero flavor, it was soggy, the sauce was flavorless, and the veggies on it were so nasty. They chose to put whole thick tomato slices (idk why they did this because I'm already eating a pizza with tomato sauce, and especially why not cut the tomatoes in quarters or something so I don't take a bit of pizza and have a whole tomato in my mouth), peppers, like one onion, and black olives scattered throughout. DO NOT GET PIZZA HERE, IT IS ABSOLUTE GARBAGE. You are better off going to Spinelli's because at the price they are charging you here (at Mellow Mushroom) for the quality they are giving you, it is a freaking scam. The only reason I'm not giving this place one star is because the spinach dip was pretty good and the service was awesome. The food though, they charge WAY too much and you can get better food at dominos, Pizza Hut, or even Hungry Howies. I'm not coming back here after this experience, maybe I'd be down to give this place a shot again if they didn't charge 25.99 for a freaking medium shitty ass pizza. It's not worth the money for me to try this place again (because I'm not about to spend another 26 bucks on a shitty pizza, because like at said, at that point I minus well go to dominos) if the quality can't keep up with the absurd pricing. read more

Terrible experience. Family all in town and decided to do a lunch where one who is gluten-free could order. We had 10 people. There were only 3 other small tables of customers in restaurant . After an hour, Two appetizers arrived and were cold. Another 30 min One of our couples got their pizza and it was lukewarm rest of us were told 7 min. At 30+ min told it was coming. Some had to go to work so we asked to box things up. Immediately received bills. Asked to see manager. Woman who I'm assuming was manager never addressed table or offered any apologies for our now 2 hour wait, only started handing out boxes. When questioned she very rudely said they had take out orders and couldn't hire anyone. Based on her attitude my husband and I cancelled our order and left. Stick to take out if your sit down customers cannot be served well. read more

In the last couple years, we've visited this location because it's close to home. Each time we've had a disappointing experience however we have given them a second and third chance to redeem themselves. Last night we visited around 7pm. There was a total of 8 customers in the whole place. The waitress was great and prompt. But it seemed she was working other posts as well. The cooks however, are rude and abrasive. At one point the cook screamed across the restaurant as one of the waitresses to come get the food. No customer wants to be caught in the middle of the issues between cooks and wait staff. The bickering continued and at one point a waitress had to go tell the cook to knock it off because the customers could hear him. The pretzel bites we ordered were not pretzels, they were pizza dough with salt. The food takes FOREVER to come out. So if any fingers are being pointed to why this location will fail and close soon, look at your cooks. If I were any of those waitresses, and a cook screamed at me like that, I'd be waiting for him in the parking lot after shift. Pretty sad display of poor manners and etiquette right in the customers face. We will not be giving this place a 4th chance. It's over and so is this location. read more

Can we please talk about the calzones? We LOVE this place!! My husband's fav is the Sausagefest and I love the Veggie calzone the red sauce is so delicious, ask for extra. We always have good service and consistently good food and drinks. I'm a hard cider drinking vegetarian and my husband is a beer drinking meat eater so we can't go wrong here. When I'm not eating the Calzone I love the Holy Shitake Pizza, Hummus Plate and Tofu Hoagie...now I'll just have to try breakfast. Got there later in the evening and we were seated immediately. We were having a small business meeting and the hostess seated us in a quieter part of the restaurant. We were attended to quickly and with a smile. In fact, Jillian our waitress was very happy. She gave us great suggestions from the menu and kept the sodas from hitting the bottom of the cup (my number one thing I look for in regards to great service). EVERY time I've come here, I tell myself I'm not coming back, and yet I keep giving them one more try. No matter what time I come, my pickup order is never ready when they say it's going to be. I always walk in a little after the time I was told to when I ordered and end up waiting for at least another 20 minutes. Not to mention the hostess left me standing there for a few minutes running around fixing someone else's order without even acknowledging me or saying I'll be right with you. Great food and casual atmosphere. This location has a special menu item that is only served here called the Caesar pizza and it is amazing! Pesto sauce, salad, and pizza all wrapped into one?!?! I'm definitely in HEAVEN! My group of 5 showed up around 5pm on a Sunday and didn't have trouble being seated, though people were showing up left and right after us. Servers are friendly but a little slow at checking on your table...I guess you could say that's part of the "mellow vibe". I would highly recommend this location for a casual date or get together. The Tempe location is great also, service the there seems to be a little bit faster. I was disappointed that the Mel's Crabbie Mule was not served in a copper mug, but the server explained it was due to a lame regulation. Also try the bruschetta it's a great starter! Well... if you ever were curious about this place. Don't bother. The initial wait was 10 minutes, no problem. Waitress came we ordered drinks, that took 10 minutes. Ordered our food that took 45 minutes. The food... bland. They gave me the wrong sauce, took our Waitress another 10 minutes to get me the right one. We sat looking at our empty glasses and remaining food for another 15 minutes before she brought over not 1 but 2 drinks we didn't want. We were done eating. We wanted boxes and the check. FINALLY she offered boxes... still no check. We pack up our boxes. Still no check. She comes over and asked about dessert. Then finally hands us our check.
