Good pizza, the dough is really nice and soft and had a bit of a tang which I liked. They were also very accommodating to my dairy free needs, which can be hard going to a pizza place but I had a Thai chicken pizza and didn't even miss the cheese, the other toppings had so much flavor on their own. Awesome finding at the island, after finding out all local restaurants close at 10pm, and this pizza bakers place stays open until midnight. Very handy across the street from our hotel. Great variety on the menu, a lot to choose from. We asked our waitress John for recommendations on the menu, he went over our entire meal, starting from local beers, appetizers and the pizza. Spinach dip, pretzel bites and the Cosmic Karma pizza, a delicious combination of flavors (tomatoes, cheese and pesto) melted into a Brooklyn stile pizza dough. It well worth the try! This is actually the first time we've been to a mellow mushroom in about 15 years. Had a very poor experience with one in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and swore we would never go back. We decided to try this one out one because it's been so long too because it was convenient three because my kids really wanted pizza and my husband being vegan. This had both options. The pizza was decent a solid six out of 10. I got the hot wings and they were delicious. My husband did eat the avocado hoagie, and he said it was a little bit over the top and not as flavorful as he would have liked. The setting is amazing with a huge tree on the back deck that everything has been built around, it really pulls you in into the setting of Saint Simons Island.this visit did encourage us to potentially try another one closer to where we are currently living. read more

We paid extra for toppings and they hardly put any on there if it even made it on the pizza. We also had to wait 30 minutes past what our wait time was supposed to be. Sad to report this spot seems to have lost its luster during Covid Still love the outdoor deck for safe dining but had 2 mediocre meals at best this last month. Mushroom soup was cold and avocado sub had no flavor and very few ingredients. When we ordered pizza the crust was at least 1/3 of the whole pie which limited cheese and toppings even though they charged $28 for it! read more

My husband and I LOVE this place and have been coming for years and years but closing half the bar because its too hot is a big problem. Went to mellow mushroom for an event on a busy Friday night. It took 20 mins to get a drink and was impossible to order a pizza. Some of the servers and bartenders on staff were trying, but clearly understaffed and the lack of overall organization was felt by everyone...and then highlighted by the lack of care expressed by the stone faced manager who (when the staff finally found her) offered no apologies or promise for better. Mellow mushroom you can do better and missed out on a lot of sales. read more

I've heard of Mellow Mushroom several times and am so glad I finally got a chance to check it out. I am not sure how it is everywhere else but the St. Simons location is AWESOME! It has such a West Coast feel which had me feeling right at home! There was plenty of parking on the nearby streets but this business has its own very large parking lot so I can't imagine that parking will ever be an issue. We were greeted right as we walked in and seated right away. I was in awe of the amazing décor (see pics) which had me a little distracted at first lol. It's a large restaurant and had TV's all over with different sports on. This would be a great spot for groups, kids, dates...and everything in-between! The menu is pretty extensive...they had so much more than just pizza! My friend and I got the lunch special which is a Slice of Pizza (you can have any kind you like), a salad (there are also several choices of salads to choose from) and a soda. It was perfect and we were stuffed! Everything was delicious! The salad was very fresh and the dressing was delicious. I LOVED the pizza. The pizza dough was thick and fresh. I can see why everyone talks about this place! Although this is a chain restaurant, I would have had no idea without someone telling me. The décor was so unique and so was the menu. Nothing seemed cookie cutter to me, it had an individual feel for sure. The server was really attentive and checked on us often while still giving us the space to enjoy ourselves in privacy. We had a great conversation with the host on the way out about how unique the place was and he explained that each location is pretty unique with the decor. I look forward to checking out other locations to see how they are decorated as well! While the service at this location wasn't the best, the pizza and atmosphere rivaled the rest of the Mellow Mushroom locations. Why come here? That's a valid question. You're on St. Simons Island where there's plenty of local restaurants (and fortunately) few chains. Come to Mellow Mushroom if you want average pizza, fair service in a fun, upbeat atmosphere. There's ample TVs to watch sporting events, affordable pizzas and prices that enable a family of four to get out for an cheaper than you'd expect on a tourist island. Keep in mind, Mellow Mushroom does have more than pizza. Their salads are better than you'd expect. And, if you have kids, the kid's meals are enough for two kids to share. This spot is a simple, easy, fun place for a meal that brings a stress free evening, as long as your service is better than ours was. read more

I've always loved Mellow Mushroom. St Simons island Mellow, not so much. We ordered a large Holy Shiitake, and pretzel bites. Our pie was a large crust with the Holy Shiitake portion a medium. I'm a pretty loyal customer when the service is good. I also like to provide remarks of my experiences on Yelp. I hope this helps the manager and Mellow Mushroom online ordering website system to improve. This evening I ordered a Havana and Cheese Steak, my friends ordered their meal. The intent was for me to pick up everyone's order at 7:30-7:45 pm. I get an email from PayPal stating that I was charged twice for my online order. I asked to speak with the manager about the payment discrepancy. He arrived 17 mins after I requested his appearance. He acted sympathetic and apologized. I showed him proof of the double transaction. He showed me that my order had been voided for some reason???? I received my friends order after waiting another 30 mins. Remember, I arrived at 7:30 pm. So, the manager told me at 7:35 pm to submit my original order with the hostess. He actually decided to input my order. We reviewed my order together and off he goes to the kitchen where he tells me he's needed. He tells me it will be probably 30 mins. I go outside to wait for our sandwiches. Twice I have to ask the hostess to check my status. Twice she forgot. I walk back in to ask her. I see 2 containers sitting near the waiter pickup area and I see the manager. I approached him with "Dude, for real, I've been waiting for over an hour?" Again and for the final time says, "ooooh I'm so sorry!" By now it's 8:37 pm. Why did I not just walk away? Because this debacle started at 6:45 pm. I figured it couldn't get worse but it did. There's not a lot of options on the island after 8:35 pm. If I had refused to pay the $25+ plus bill, I would not have gotten my food. Did he comp my meal for the inconvenience and rude service, yes $5! Was I loud, disruptive, disrespectful or making a scene no. But I did tell them that was an awful experience at this Mellow Mushroom location and I will send a truthful negative review. 3/30/2022 read more

Dine here with casual friends. Pizza outdoors under the canopy of a big oak tree. Lots of small area seating so it is cozy and easy to chat. Good news: they have some kind of bug control because I didn't get one bite during 2 hrs in the early evening. You can eat inside but the large open area to the bar makes it open-air as well. Food is a variety of good pizza, one excellent greens-onion-cheese choice. Pretty amazing big meat balls cut in half with slivers of sharp hard cheese inside.
