Very wonderful staff despite mandated Covid restrictions. They were all working together to make the experience as good as possible despite current distancing rules. Well the kitchen was backed up over an hour however the staff made it worth the wait. The bartender made a rose sangria on point! The yelp check in offer was delicious and the pizza....was Amazing. We should have known when we pulled up at 1:45 and the parking lot was a ghost town... I had to stick my head in and make sure they were open. They were out of our first 3 beer choices. The beer list was printed on printer paper, why not update the list? Then we ordered a pizza. The open kitchen allowed for me to watch the pie maker make our pizza while eating her own lunch. She also had her own music playing, clashing with the house music. I saw her pull out our pie, then double check the ticket and look at our server. I heard her say "sorry, I made the wrong thing." The server went straight to the back of house instead of coming to tell us. The pie maker then took another bite of her food and started remaking our pie. No one even mentioned the 25 plus minutes it took for our pizza in an empty restaurant. I used to work at a pizza place-it only takes about 7 to 10 minutes to cook a pie in a stone oven. The pizza was okay. Our check still had a beer that I ordered but that they were out of. The whole experience was not that great. I probably won't go back. read more

2.5 stars. Great atmosphere and beer selection but the food quality and wait times for food has really suffered. Amount of toppings on the pizza is ridiculous and they are over cooking them too. We ordered a funky q pizza and it had little to no chicken or bacon. Like one or two pieces of chicken per slice and a half a piece of bacon a an entire medium pizza. Ilk still go for a beer or two but will eat elsewhere. read more

We asked for beer cheese 3 times, finally got it on the fourth request. Never brought drink refills or asked how we were. Walked by our table several times without acknowledging us. I've been to multiple Mellow Mushroom restaurants and this is not representative of the others. The SSI location feels smaller and more cramped in the interior seating and much less inspired. Aside from the atmosphere though, the food was mediocre and the service was terribly slow. My wife and I ate there at a slower time of day and there were only a handful of other tables. We ordered a pub burger and a veggie burger so nothing that requires significant time. We received one drink timely, but the other required a reminder to the wait staff. After exhausting the drinks and taking in everything in the dining room, we still had not received our food. When it was finally completed, it was not as ordered so had to go back to the kitchen. Once we finally received the food, I compare the pub burger to a Dairy Queen burger. There was nothing wrong with it, but it certainly wasn't worth the price or the wait. I would not recommend this particular location although we have had much better experiences in Savannah, GA. read more

I've eaten here every other day since my wife left me for another man. The bartenders are kind hearted and make me feel like there is light at the end of this dark tunnel. I placed what I thought was a delivery order online and there was some confusion (quite possibly my fault!) and the pizza was not delivered. It was intended for my daughter, since I had to work a night shift, and when I found out it was not a delivery, I was understandably freaked out. The on-duty manager, Sarah, said she could relate, as she had kids at home, too, and she took it upon herself to deliver the pizza. She even called me afterwards to let me know she had made the delivery and that she made sure my daughter made it back in the house. We dine-in here often, because we like the food, but I never would have expected this level of customer service. Thank you, Sarah!!! read more

4.5-I loved this place and wish I had something similar back home. Pizza crust, toppings, sauce...each outstanding. And the staff was great. I was thoroughly impressed. Only reason its not a top 5-Star place in my book is the online order snafu. So I tried to place an order online and all went well with selecting the food but payment got jacked up and I didn't receive a confirmation even though it went past the payment screen. Called in and they couldn't tell me if it went through so I was asked to wait 10 more minutes to find out that no, it did not go through. No big deal, waited and then did the order on the phone. When I picked up the pizza, the hostess staff was super friendly and offered to find me at the bar when the pick-up was ready. I tried out the bar and got a little sampling of the wide array of drafts which were relatively cheap. They also have a pretty nice whiskey selection. The layout in the restaurant just makes you want to be there. Wide open, nice flow, big garage bay doors separate the inside/outside seating areas and there are big screen tvs in each major area. This place could handle a casual dinner for two or a large party of 30 plus. I could see hanging out here to watch a big game with friends...get some brews and soak it all up with some phenomenal pizza. read more

Sigh. What a shame. Such a beautiful place but the service was just terrible. Although the waiter was nice the mix ups were just ridiculous. Couldn't get the right ingredients in the right calzones. As we are explaining he just said okay you guys can tell my manager. The manager came out and did not even apologize just said ok? What's the problem. Then the checks came, all the food was in the wrong checks. We had to send the checks back 3 times to get them fixed because they just were not right. The food was not good, it was cold and the calzones were huge but barely any filling. So unhappy with this location. Needless to say the one in Jacksonville will be my go to! Hope it gets better! So On the way out as myself and my family were walking out (with children) he realized that we didn't tip because we were so unhappy with the service. Food was decent service was good but have the manager Sara yell profanity at servers loud enough so everyone in the building can hear her not once but twice is very unprofessional not too mention inappropriate. Talked to couple of servers later and found out no one stays working there long because the house claims most of their tips. So even though you tip 20-25% for bar and service management takes 18-21%. I've only had 1 good server out of at least 5-6, including very slow and inattentive bartenders. Tonight we waited 10 minutes before the server even came to our table and then another 30 minutes before we got our drinks. We also never got an appetizer we ordered. Other tables also seemed to be unhappy with the service. The pizza and beer selection is excellent. The atmosphere is also nice. Bottom line: Another mediocre "chain" restaurant. What you can expect (based on our two visits): Mediocre pizza with a crust so thin it will become soggy within minutes. Don't even TRY to take a piece home unless you plan to move it with a spatula -- otherwise it will fall apart and make a mess. While the service ranges from good to pathetic and is generally acceptable, the food quality is really not good at all. And, the place is LOUD -- LOUD I TELL YOU! (Very "hard" interior.) Tried to order an IPA [that's a beer, folks ... wink, wink] They had nothing I'd even call marginal on draft. The one I was served was a "short pour" in a brandy snifter type glass. (No, it was not a "high octane" beer -- not a double of imperial.) There are much better places on SSI than the Yellow Mushroom. I can't think of a single reason to return. read more

Terrible experience! Sat to a table outside with no server help for a good 15 minutes. Finally had to ask someone if we were going to have a server. A server finally comes to the table and says , "I guess I'll be your server." She never came back to the table except to get our order. Finally, again after waiting for her to come back to get the check we had to again go back to the front and ask for help. They will not have our business again. read more

The menu they want you to use has no prices. When asked for a regular menu which would contain a price we were told the prices in the menu were wrong. This is really shady business, who would order something without knowing the price? The waitress had no clue there were no prices on the food, you can't tell me we were the only people to notice this. Food was mediocre but service was good (great waitress). Other than that I've been to other mellow mushroom pizza joints and the one in St. Simmons had a lot to learn from other franchises. I feel like Mellow Mushroom in general is okay. But, the SSI Mellow Mushroom is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. There is a huge oak tree growing through the middle of the porch area outside. There is a huge statue of a tie-dye panda inside. The food is really good. I prefer to have pretzel bites with beer cheese sauce over pizza, but I really like the Holy Shiitake pizza and Caesar salad pizza. if you live on the island, or are just visiting, and you haven't tried the Saint Simons Island Mellow Mushroom yet, you really should. read more
