We absolutely love Tiffany. Every time we are lucky enough to have her, she goes above and beyond. She truly works hard to take care of everything and everyone at her tables. She is always checking in, offering extra fixings, keeping our coffee hot and topped off, and making sure we have everything we need, including to go boxes and lids before we even have to ask. What really stands out is how attentive and thoughtful she is, all while maintaining such a warm and personable attitude. You can tell she takes pride in what she does. Nice looking restaurant, with a diner feel on the inside. Booths were very comfortable and service was OK. We enjoyed the fact that the staff seemed happy and having a good time. The menu is extensive and we were even talking about what we would order on our next trip. While there were a couple of good things, I would say overall the food was disappointing. The food came out extremely fast, indicating to us a process where the food is precooked somehow quickly heated. If so, it defiantly showed up in the quality of the food. I ordered Chicken and waffles. Surprisingly given how fast the food came out the chicken was perfectly crisp, especially on the breast and thigh. The chicken also had a nice sage flavor to it. However, the waffle missed the mark big time. The defining characteristic of a proper Belgian waffle is the textural contrast between a golden-brown, crispy crust and a light, airy, cloud-like center. The waffle I got was on the pale side, as well as being soft and limp in texture. Also, according to the menu, the dish was supposed to come with their sweet and spicy signature sauce which I was looking forward to. However, there was zero spice the craft of syrup the wife and I shared. The wife ordered the blueberry pancakes. On the plus side, the dish was loaded with blueberries. On the negative side, this was another dish the texture was way off. The pancake itself was not light and fluffy and was grainy. The side of Sausage had a great flavor that we both enjoyed. The side of bacon, however, was not good at all. We were pleased that the waitress asked if we wanted the Bacon crispy which we did. However, the bacon was not crispy at all, instead it was flat out chewy and extremely difficult to eat. This gives me the indication the bacon is precooked and stored in a warming tray or under a heat lamp. As rubbery as the 3 strips of bacon were, it had to be in the tray a long time. Overall thoughts. Nice looking place with an extensive menu and reasonable prices. The problem is the texture of 3 of our dishes missed the mark so bad they were unappetizing. The food was very good, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was very nice. I will definitely go back. The only thing I didn't like was that the table, and especially the bench, were not clean -- there were crumbs all over the bench. We asked the waitress to clean it, but she wiped it quickly and did a poor job before moving on. They really need to do a better job cleaning the seats, benches, tables, and chairs. The bathroom was okay. I understand it was Mother's Day weekend, but that's not really an excuse. They should have more staff helping when it's that busy. The Belgian waffle was actually a Belgian waffle, light and crispy. The southwest bowl disappeared quickly, and my stepson announced he'd gladly return any time. I got the cinnamon roll pancakes, and that was a bit of a disappointment. The pancakes were huge. The flavor was decent. But I was looking forward to the cream cheese icing, and the amount of that was absolutely pitiful. Maybe a teaspoonful? Honestly, I would have expected about 10 times the amount I got. The Metro Diner in Brunswick has been open for around three weeks. As a result, I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt with four stars and I definitely hope to be able to give five stars when I return sometime in the future. Base upon our experience, I would highly recommend that you eat at the restaurant and not do takeout. After we placed our to go order, we were quoted 10 to 15 minutes for the food to be ready. We ended up waiting over 25 minutes. It appeared as though some items were made quickly and other ones took a considerable longer time. For example, the Eggs Benedict was ready in around 10 minutes. The sandwiches and burgers with fries took another 15 minutes. So, while the fries tasted warm and well seasoned when we got home, the Eggs Benedict was not warm at all. While we sat in the restaurant waiting for our food, we made a number of observations. First, it appears as though the servers are well prepared, but the kitchen may be struggling a little. For example, not only were the wait times long, but the accuracy of the order was lacking. We had ordered two sandwiches and one burger, but we were given two burgers and one sandwich. Therefore, I would highly suggest opening the sealed bag and checking your order before you leave the restaurant. With all of that said, the interior of the restaurant is warm and inviting. They have a counter where you can dine alone or as a couple as well as many tables and chairs. Mallory and the rest of the staff were friendly. I had a club sandwich. It was good. They could use a better quality cold cuts. The turkey was white not a natural white color, though white like white or paint. Service was a little disorganized. We've been to a couple other Metro Diners and always had a good experience so we were in Brunswick and thought to give this new location a try. I had the Chicken Pot Pie and she had the beef tips. Everything was delicious(act the best pot pie I have had in memory)! Server was super nice and attentive, the place was clean and my only regret is once the word gets out, we'll probably have to wait for a table. If you are in Brunswick, you can't go wrong with this Metro Diner. They also serve alcoholic beverages and they are revising their hours to stay open for dinner. Gave the new Metro Diner in Brunswick a try & was very happy with the service Haley provided during our stay as well as the food being very good as well. I would give this Metro Diner 4 1/2 stars but Yelp does not have that as an option. The restaurant has both inside & outside seating. The outside will be nice when the weather is a bit warmer as it gives the hanging out & relax vibe. I had the Denver omelet which had ham, onions, peppers & salsa on top. Very tasty and also came with hash browns. Hard to find hash browns at breakfast restaurants recently. But, if a fan you can also add onions! My wife had the pancakes which were fluffy and tasted very good! I have been to other Metro Diners (Jacksonville & Gainesville, FL as well as Savannah, GA) and as with those the service & food are very good. Mother's Day at Metro Diner showed what true peak-volume operations look like. Even with 4 tables empty, the staff was already at handling capacity. The kitchen was nonstop turning out large dine-in meals while simultaneously managing a heavy stream of takeout orders. Orders were not being forgotten or missed -- it was simply demand exceeding normal throughput during one of the busiest restaurant days of the year. With 8 people still waiting outside, the staff also continued the thoughtful gesture of giving moms a purple rose. One area that could improve the customer experience during high-volume periods is refreshment touchpoints. Even when food ticket times increase, periodic drink refills and quick waiter check-ins help customers feel acknowledged and keep frustration levels down while the kitchen works through backlog volume. read more

This time, service and food definitely subpar. Egg order delivered first - no hash browns, bowl of gravy (yuk), no syrup. Steak tips delivered about 5 minutes or so after egg order. Gravy on tips was awful and tips were barely cooked, super tough, couldn't even cut them with a steak knife! Taste turned me off. Service was soooooo slow!Sent the beef tip plate back, lost my appetite. No manager bothered to come over. Took 10+ minutes to get our bill. Go again? Not a fan. First, I asked if I might order from kid's menu. Server said of course. Then she came back around and said manager said there was a couple dollars upcharge for adults ordering from kid's menu. Why? What extra was an adult getting that a kid would not? What extra effort was cook expending for an adult desiring the smaller portion? Plus, I'd done it before at this very same restaurant. She tried to explain that with the extra charge, it was about the same cost as the adult portion. No... there's a $5 difference and why waste the extra food? I decided on the burger...ordered no pink, but not a hockey puck. She suggested medium well. Guess what...one side medium well, the other side a very charred hockey puck. She said it's hard to get burgers and steaks cooked properly and offered to take it back. Maybe for this chain? Looks like if you're going to incinerate one side of a burger, cook should have the guts to place charred side up. Tomato looked like it was left over from yesterday. Yuck. No discount offered to me for leaving off cheese and onions (that were included in the price). Seems that would have been reasonable considering the upcharge for kid's meal. Finally, the burger came with a side. Spouse chose a salad which was in the side option list. He was charged an extra $1.98 for that. Won't be back. The waitress was very forgetful. She forgot the silverware, my salad, to refill our drinks. She seemed to need better training. Lots of waisted movements back and forth with nothing in her hands. I visited for the first time around noon on NYE. I was visiting from out-of-town. The place was packed, but we only had to wait for about 15 minutes. The quality and tastiness of the food was the best I have ever had in Brunswick. Portions were large, hot, and delicious. Had the grand idea of maybe making life a little easier by going to Metro Diner and getting a "mobile" order for Christmas dinner. It's what you do these days, right?? It was right there on the menu, "roast turkey plate" (or some such name) - perfect. At any rate, after haggling over the menu item(s) with wait staff - what the menu stated vs. what was actually offered and at what price, the order was placed. Took a little while - some other person there (customer) said they had the "slow" kitchen staff today (12/23) - don't know where she got her info from. Finally got home with the order (didn't really mind the wait, didn't have anywhere else to be). Sooo, checked it all out on the evening of the 24th. it was missing a couple items, which I clearly paid for as referenced by the receipt (my mistake, right?? but come 'on, where is QC or just plain doing your job. Do better!). So, once again, "Brunswick" makes you settle for what it wants you to have. Thanks though...at least I still had my wallet, shoe strings and watch.
