Embers is very inviting when you enter as there is the greeting station , bar & large pizza oven named Beatrice! The hostess who sat us and our server Alex were very nice. This is our first time at Embers and my wife & I decided to do more an appetizer style type dinner. We had the wings which are duck drumettes, hogs in quilts (sausage dish in a pastry) then a pizza. We had the Gyro style pizza which was a specialty type pizza that evening. All the food was very good! We will be back again soon & try some entrees during our next visit. First time trying Ember and stopped in on a Saturday around 5 PM. Remarkably they had happy hour specials going. $3.50 well drinks and $4 house wines and a number of items on the happy hour menu to eat and drink. The restaurant is large enough with good bar space and two dining sections. Overall it gives a nice quaint ambience with a big wood fired oven in view from the bar. I ordered an Old Forester well bourbon on the rocks and my wife ordered a glass of red wine. We followed up later with the second round. We enjoyed our drinks and chose to try a handful of items off the happy hour menu. We started with the brie, the chef's choice tacos, the oven roasted olives, and the Caesar salad. Everything had a wood fired flare. The oven roasted olives were a nice order meaty and oven hot. The Brie was wood fired melted with a side of house jam and what I would call a ciabatta roll. It was my favorite. Again very good. The chef choice tacos were beef and came as an order of 2 small but tasty tacos. We shared the Caesar salad which had a nice smoky flavor with a tasty dressing and overall good. Everything was fine and definitely above average and would probably order those again. There's a pretzel and chicharrones also on the HH menu We ordered a Meatzilla Fire bread off the main menu which was tasty thin pizza. A little thin crust for me but everything was fresh and good quality. $1 charge for parmasian cheese. I would likely come back again to try some of the mainstay entrées, like scallops, bone-in pork chop and ribeye steak which looked a little pricey but again sometimes you get what you pay for. Looking forward to our next trip. I would definitely stop by and try the happy hour for excellent drinks and some tasty shareables and remarkably inexpensive drinks. We generally don't order dessert but tried the Eula May which was a sour dough pound cake. It was excellent. I would rate this restaurant at a 4.5, however, it is much better than many of the places I've tried in Brunswick or Saint Simons Island. I'd make a final rating once I try again and taste the entrees. The Yelp average of 4.2 is way too low for this place. I chose to give it a 5.0 rather than a 4.0. Definitely worth trying. read more

I reserved a seat in advance when I came on Saturday night it wasn't that full. I was immediately seated and had drinks out pretty fast. Staff was great. The environment was very modern clean and friendly. I tried the margarita fire bread (aka pizza) and it was the best pizza I've ever had! The pizza was served with fresh basil, and it was served very warm. after the pizza, I had a brownie dessert! it was amazing. What an absolute gem recommended by the King & Prince concierge. Our server Mike was one of the best we've had in a long time. Super attentive and friendly, he thought of absolutely everything to make our meal amazing. We had the baked brie, crispy brussels, pigs in blankets, lamb lollipops, salad and 3 different flatbread pizzas. Everything was outstanding! Ember is one of my favorite restaurants on St. Simons Island! The food and service are always great and the ambiance is perfect for a great evening out with friends or date night! Amazing evening with our daughter and 3 grandbabies ages 11,8 and 6. We were looking for gluten free pizza and we definitely found the best! First time visitors. Immediately when you walk through the door the ambience invites you in. Dim lighting with a beautiful bar and pizza oven. We sat at the bar top and the bartender was so friendly and prompt. The happy hour specials were amazing for food (until 6:00) and drinks (until 6:30). Beer was $2 off and house wine was $4. Cesar salads were also $5 which we tried and enjoyed (romaine is grilled). We also had the $5 tacos which came with 2 and were loaded with Brussels sprouts and goat cheese, very rich in flavor! The star of the show was the pizza. We went with a pepperoni and it was also delicious , especially if you live simple wood fired pizzas. The sauce was unreal. I want to start off by saying we have been eating here at least one a month sometimes more for the past 3 years and the food is consistently excellent, the reason for my review is because last night was different. We had a party of 5 two of our guests had never been before. Our reservation was for 745 which I made. We got there a few minutes early and checked in and sat at the bar, well some sat the rest stood. At 8:15 we were still at the bar and no table was available. I went to the hostess and she had no reason for the issue other than when a table opened up we would be seated. At 9:05 we were seated. No server came to our table for another 10 minutes. Yes the server apologized but I do think the manager should have come to our table and at the very least apologized or comped us a drink. 7:45 reservations finally got an appetizer at 9:20. As usual the food was excellent but I don't think my two guests will be back even though I told them this was totally unusual. This should not ever happen and I do not think it was handled correctly. I do hope the owners read this and my wife and I consider ourselves regulars and we were very disappointed. read more

Ember is our go to whenever we want an incredible dinner, at home or dining out. I can't remember if we've been going there for 5 or 6 years. The point is that in that period of time, we have never been disappointed in the quality of the meal, or the friendliness of the staff. During the past couple of years, post pandemic, lots of restaurants appear to have undergone major staffing changes. Ember seems to have remained relatively unchanged. It's very nice to walk into the friendly environment and see the same smiling faces at the door, in the kitchen, and servers. At times the chefs have been gracious enough to try and explain to me how to "try" and prepare the foods the way that they do, but my attempts always fall short. Carry out food is never as good as it is in the restaurant. Ember comes really, really close. When we get back into town and don't feel like cooking, or going out, dinner from there hits the spot The Ceasar Salad, is the best I've ever had. It dosn't matter what kind of fish is being served, it will be magical. The roasted vegetables, steaks, and "fire bread" pizzas are incredible. Their cauliflower pizza crust is much better than I've had anywhere else. If you want the Best Dining Experience on the island, do yourself a favor. Skip the tourist traps. The tuna tower, taters, and egg rolls were my fav appetizers, and the short rib is a great main course, but let's talk pizza. I mean, fire bread. *drool* The fire kissed crust really makes a difference y'all. So good. We had the meatzilla, green, & Cuban. They were all so good I don't think I could pick a favorite. For dessert, the pot de creme is a delicious gluten free option, but the Eula May pan fried sour cream pound cake made this southern girl's heart go pitter patter. (That means I loved it.) read more

Stopped in first for happy hour then came back for dinner. The stop for happy hour was awesome. Rihanna took really good care of us. Our drinks were amazing. When we came back for dinner we were greeted as if we were regulars and seated quickly. Service was great. Lots of great things to choose from on the menu. We started with the Egg roll app. Big app with lots of great flavors. Spicy! We also got a bread services which was fresh and delicious. The olive oil mixture was very tasty and great for dipping. We moved on to split the caesar. They actually split it for us. Great when restaurants do that and don't charge you. This was really good. It had some great grill flavoring that gave it a nice pop. We finally had the seared scallops with a herb risotto, corn puree, asparagus, cauliflower, a drizzle of balsamic reduction and herb oil. So good. Scallops were cooked perfectly. The drizzle and puree combined for a great bite. Big serving and they split this as well. The wine list is pretty good with some solid choices at reasonable prices. Over a very good evening. Great food and great service. Looking forward to passing through again and stopping in for another good meal. read more

We liked it so much on our visit that we went there twice! Our first visit was in the dining room. It has a great upscale ambiance while still feeling relaxed and casual. We had fried pork rinds as an appetizer and they came with jalapeño lime juice and dipping sauce-so tasty! We both had the fish of the day and it was absolutely amazing - we ate past the point of being full because we didn't want to waste a bite! We took the Icebox Cake and the Peanut Butter Pie home for dessert and they were both solid choices. On our way out we noticed that they had trivia on Monday nights so we came back. So much fun! The trivia guy was great and kept the game moving along well with some fun extra giveaways along the way. We sat at the bar in front of the pizza oven and had a great time bantering with the guys behind the counter & watching them (and the kitchen) work. We both commented that it appeared to be one of the most well run kitchens we've seen. Every with the rush they kept the food coming and made sure it went immediately to the tables. It seemed like a really collaborative effort and everyone seemed to be having a good time. We had crispy Brussels Sprouts (YUM!) and split a wood fired pizza (The Calypso) which was more than enough food. We tried the Mango Crème Brûlée for dessert which we also enjoyed. I highly recommend Monday trivia, but overall this was one of the best restaurants we went to during our stay! read more

We've come here for date night every year for two years on our vacation to St. Simons. We get the brussel sprouts every time and this year we tried the cauliflower crust on our flatbread. We were 7 of us and needed a good place for dinner but while there was a lot of variety it was mediocre at best. We ordered a lot of food and everything was just alright nothing great. We visited Ember for my husband's birthday dinner while vacationing in St. Simmons. The menu had a great selection making it difficult to choose. The restaurant is from farm to fire and all dishes we had were fresh and delicious. We started with cocktails and the lamb chops as an appetizer. I ordered the spicy margarita and it was spicy! I really also liked the ice in the cocktail. It was a sphere which was unique and different. For our entrees we selected the steak and the fish of the day. The fish of the day was red snapper. Each dish came with sides. The steak was served with potatoes and the fish was served with fontina grits, broccolini and carrots. The food was amazing and so was the service. The food and Ambience at Ember are very good. As was the service. The issue comes with the fact they have now adopted the annoying practice of adding 3% to the bill for credit cards. I just don't understand this. Taking payment is a cost of doing business and 63% of people pay with a credit card. So raise your prices or give a discount for paying in cash, and please disclose the extra charge before the bill comes. Put it on the website, on the menu, somewhere. read more
