I got the Grateful Dead. I split a large pizza with 3 other guys. One half was Mighty Meaty and the other half was Holy Shitake. Their pizza is phenomenal. It wasn't the best experience, given its location and the reputation of the whole trust fund baby vibe that resonates in that area. The food was a bit mediocre, and I was not diggin the vibes from our waitress. I tipped a lot for a burger and an appetizer, but I didn't want to dampen the mood of said waitress. I mean, in a different area, this place would not survive if mommy and daddy didn't foot the bill. I may try a second time, but I don't see it happening any time soon. Good luck to the waitress, I hope her night gets better. I didn't mean to sound like a jerk like at initially did, I apologize. I think a wow factor, rather than a play on the stonerisms and lifestyles of such didn't do much for me. It was overplayed by chain restaurants everywhere, and I was hoping for a better experience. Delicious! They do something really special to the crust of that pizza! I love pizza crust anyways but mellow mushroom it tastes like a bread stick! Yum! This place is expensive but it's right in downtown Tempe so that makes sense. The staff was really nice attentive! read more

We LOVE MM! We've eaten at over 8 locations, and so when we moved to a town 6 hours away that doesn't have a MM location, we decided that we would make the drive to enjoy some great pizza. This is our second time at this location, and they have recently renovated. There's not as much of a typical MM vibe, but it's clean, feels fresh, and spacious. The bathroom was clean too. There was only one waitstaff as it was early afternoon, but she was attentive and refilled our drinks before we emptied them. We used the Yelp Check-In reward to get a free pretzel bites with beer cheese. Delicious, and they came out of the kitchen pretty quickly. We ordered a Large Mighty Meaty and a Large House (no black olives, add garlic) at the same time we placed our drink and app order. Our pizzas took about 15 mins to come out. Both crusts were a little overdone, but lots of toppings, and some leftover for us to eat later! MM is still our favorite and we look forward to trying out new locations in the future! read more

Not bad for a pizza joint. Could be a 4 star, but I save 4 for extra special and 5 are very rare. They have a very good selection of draft beers... a specialty cocktail menu, and lots of choices for pizza. Just ordered their house special and it was very good.. meat, veggies, good crust. The most outstanding part about Mellow Mushroom was the great service. A group of friends and I went here for happy hour, and was unfamiliar with some of the drinks - Mello Mushroom carries a huge list of beers. The waiter made some awesome recommendations, and let us sample drinks. He seemed to really enjoy working at the restaurant, which made all of us happy. I had the grasshopper cider - it had a very unique taste to it, and was pretty strong. I liked it a lot. By the way, if you go during happy hour, it's half off of the drinks. Pizza was mediocre. Didn't have that much flavor, needed more sauce. The service was horrible, the waiter never returned to give us refills for water. asked him for a second drink and he forgot my drink. AND we had to flag the waiter down to get the bill. I checked my credit card statement and I was charged an extra $5 from what I had paid and tipped at the restaurant. I don't know how this happened, or if the tip was input incorrect, but I would recommend you check to make sure this isn't a regular occurrence. read more

I've always really liked the food that they have here, especially their appetizers such as their artichoke dip and of course their pizza options. This time my friends and I went in for reverse happy hour which is 10PM-2AM. Their drinks and appetizers are 1/2 off which is such a good deal! When I walked in on a thursday evening and the restaurant was relatively empty I figured it would be a pretty smooth riding night but there was literally no hostess to seat us. We stood there for a good 5 mins, and another party of 3 came in and was wondering the same thing "are we supposed to seat ourselves!?" The service was honestly eh. It seemed like we were seated outside of the view of our server and everyone who worked there because it took forever for us to even get our drink orders in and even longer to get the check. we came to az for the Taylor Swift concert in Glendale last night!! she was absolutely magical! I thought nothing could top that but then I found this gem!! Great service, and great food! My family and I tried the House Special pizza and really it. All of the toppings were fresh and we especially liked the apple wood bacon on it. They also offer gluten free pizza that my daughter ordered. She had the Kosmic Karma pizza and said it was delicious. The layout of the restaurant is open, easy to navigate. That actually means a lot with a decently large dining room. Aaron, Jacob and Sophia are solid performers and professional, even when I viewed a customer being short and rude with Sophia. This was my first visit to Mellow Mushroom and I was impressed. The restaurant itself is very nice, clean, and open. The vibe was relaxed and the service was solid. I ended up getting a small pizza with pepperoni and parmesan cheese. The crust of the pizza had a really good, possibly buttery, flavor that was just delicious. Another positive about the crust was that they didn't burn it so it was still a tad bit chewy and not all dried out. While that was my first trip to Mellow Mushroom, it certainly won't be my last. My husband and I come here all the time and we always get the best service, consistently delicious food, amazing drinks, and a bomb happy hour. We love coming here during their reverse happy hours because the appetizers are such a great deal and they're always delish! We loved our server Sam. This was the first time we had him and he's friendly, kind, and constantly checked on us to make sure we were having a great experience. Beyond great customer service! I always love coming here (especially for my cheat meals) and I'll be coming back for as long as I live in this area. I totally get some of the 1 star reviews, but I hope this 5 Star can knock off some of the unfair 1 stars I was reading.
