Check in was smooth, price is very affordable, room clean, with a refrigerator and coffee maker

Reminds me of a cruise ship shower stall. Maybe a tiny bit bigger. Water saving shower head, hits you, and it hurts. Nicest people who run this place for 60 years. Thanks, Frank. Kerug Coffee and muffin/danish in the lobby. This kept us going for the day. Pretty quiet. Good blackout curtains to keep the bright sun out. Nice remote air conditioner. The beds were comfy. Small refrigerator and microwave. Small TV in today's standards. Assigned parking spaces. Very clean. Dont come during graduation time at Cal Poly. Rates really go up, and there's no room at the inn.

Check in was easy, I had called 40 mins in advanced to asked if my room was available and she said yes. They are not paperless and she had me fill out my name, address, driver license and vehicle license. Then handed me a physical key. She said "We're an old school motel and we have you pay after your stay". I am so glad that I insisted on charging my card at that instance because no one was to be found the day I left. You have an assigned parking space. Your room number corresponds to your parking spot. I thought that was weird like invasion of privacy when someone can know if you're home or not and if that room is taken. But she said it's because if you're home late, you'll have a spot. I'm assuming there's not enough parking? How can that be when each room is connected to a spot? I feel like I've been transformed back to the 70s to my childhood home with outdated decor of patterned carpet, wood trim, low tile sink, slim shower, fleece blankets, and mix match blankets. If you can pass all that, it's actually a quaint little place with a mini fridge, no microwave, a swimming pool and designated outdoor smoking area. After all, it's a 'ranch' theme. (+) A.C with remote (+) Heater has its own thermostat and wall furnace (+) All one level, no need to worry about stairs. 20 units. (+) 3 extra pillows and one fleece blanket in the closet. (-) No outlets. Just a power strip behind the fridge. (-) No iron - I'm sure you can call to ask (-) No microwave - Must call to ask and they will bring it to you if they have it available. Otherwise, the office can heat it up for you. (-) Shampoo is in a 0.4 ounce sample size pouch. (-) Very slim standing shower (-) Low sink, not ideal for tall folks (-) Small standard size toilet bowl (-) Physical key (-) The tv lags between channels and not clear (-) The towel hook behind the door was as high as the door way. Quite a reach. My Expedia reservation said the office opens at 7am but the hours on the door says 7:30am, yet there's a clock that says "Be right back at 8am". I came by at 7:10, then at 8:30 the sign was flipped to "open" but a note that says "...stepping out be right back..." and finally 9am. That same note was still there. Imagine if I needed to pay? So I dropped the keys in the drop box. Overall, it was clean and most importantly, we felt safe. It's 10 minutes from Sensorio light show. It's also far from downtown, you would have to drive.

Reasonably priced, quaint, charming and comfortable. I really enjoyed my two nights at this motel. It had everything I needed. On Friday nights, the taco pop up across the street was also a perk. I sat outside near the pool and ate my tacos and it was beautiful peaceful. I would stay here again and I'd recommend to anybody who appreciates timeless charm.

It's every bit as old-school as it seems from the road.

I come to Paso a few times a year for work, usually on short notice and I've ended up at Melody Ranch a few different times. I have to echo what most of the other reviewers say; yes it's an older, simple motel but it maintains that slightly homey charm and it's notably clean with great customer service. The people are always welcoming and warm in a way that always reads as genuine and although it's older to the point that even the Kleenex dispenser and the brass doorknobs and hardware can easily be dated to the 1960's, everything works so it yields and simple no nonsense experience. If you're the type of person that is admittedly "higher maintenance" then it's probably not for you, but if your more on the reasonable and down-to-earth end of the spectrum and prioritize cleanliness and kindness above modern amenities, give it a try. I genuinely think the owners deserve it.

Nostalgic, no frills motel. Perfect for our stay...a place to lay our heads after wine tastings, brewery hopping, and a concert at Vina Robles. Lots of food options within a 5 minute drive! Room included a mini fridge that worked great! Place was nice and quiet. We can't wait to stay here again!

We travel often from Southern California to the Paso Robles area. Our favorite place to stay is the Melody Ranch Motel, a quintessential 50's motor inn. The owners (maybe original owners!) are warm and hospitable. We are always made to feel welcome! I have given them 5 stars because they excel at being what they are, a clean, comfortable budget motel. The beds are good, the towels of nice quality and a location that is adjacent to the center of town. We walk to fabulous restaurants and shopping opportunities. If you are looking for Ritz Carlton luxury, don't stay here and then write a lousy review!! This is a great place to stay!

From the outside, it's rather unassuming, but once you go in the front doors, the inner real beauty of this location is revealed. The courtyard is simply amazing, and like a bubble in space and time that offers a refuge from the outside world. In the evening the fireplaces are burning with hardwood every night and they offer fresh made s'mores to hotel guests. There's actually a s'mores menu. The whole environment is almost like something from a movie. They've also got a wonderful library that is tastefully appointed with many wonderful and interesting different books to read. It definitely invites you to sit down and snuggle by the fire with a good book. Such a cozy feeling! You can also select some candy for a snack. The rooms themselves are also beautiful and the bedding looks nice. Though I will say for me personally the pillows were really uncomfortable, and they had a rough spun duvet which smelled musty on the inside like it hadn't been washed in quite awhile. It looked and smelled like they were washing the sheets and the blanket but not the duvet itself. They also offer breakfast in the morning, but it's a little bit later than some other places so if you have to get an early start, then you probably won't be able to catch it. Overall I really enjoyed the stay and would say this experience is really good for the boutique traveler that is looking for a peaceful, unhurried trip.

At check in, there were absolutely no perks for anyone who booked via Amex Platinum. For a hotel that looks brand new, there was no care done to the build. I can't remember the last time I heard an upstairs and next door neighbors in a hotel, let alone one this new. You'll hear every single stomp and slam in your room. It's walking distance to the main part of downtown and there is a pizza and a Mexican restaurant across the street. My only real gripe is how hard they're pushing guests to buy their snacks and wine-- the room has not one but two pieces of furniture loaded with premixed cocktails, a bottle of wine, snacks, and bottled mineral water. They don't allow "outside food" in common areas, whose definition was never clear to me- does it include the patios in front of the rooms? So I felt like a criminal bringing in takeout for dinner, but there is no food onnthe premises other than various kinds of overpriced chips and cookies. They don't let you bring outside wine in common areas, either, which might have something to do with licensing or might just be trying to make you buy their wine. So we waited until it was dark and no one was around to enjoy our outside wine on the patio. But we didn't get in trouble so maybe it was ok. They're also really promoting their bath products, for sale in their little gift shop, along with membership in their hotel chain for "rewards." The website says pet friendly and indeed, dogs are allowed in all rooms-- $50 each is a little steep for pet charge though. The website says there's something for pets in the room but there was none in our room, even though we booked in advance. I don't really care that much but if they say it, they should do it. There were also some rich women guests who looked at me like I was a homeless person or space alien, but other guests I met in the breakfast room were normal and friendly. But basically, it's a hotel oriented toward well-off "classy" wine tourists, and if you're not one of those, you might feel a little awkward here. (I did.) But it's a lovely, comfortable little room with charming grounds, probably nice for a romantic getaway without your dogs.

The instructions posted on the wall do not match the buttons on the remote. We ended up doing a web search for the unit's instruction manual. That's pretty sad. These things should be more intuitive. We liked having a fridge and microwave in the room. The downside to our room was that it was on the 2nd floor and we had to carry our things up the stairs since there was no elevator. Do ask for a ground floor if you want to avoid walking up stairs. I became more mindful of these details in recent years when husband suffered from shortness of breath and had a challenging time doing stairs. The property looks nice with several different buildings surrounding a center common grassy lawn area with curved walkways & mini bridge next to their herb garden and koi pond. There are little fish and some ginormous ones in their koi pond. There is also a pool at the rear of the property. It was easy to find parking near our room. The grounds look lovely from your room or from a distance. But we noticed dog poop on the grass when we wanted to walk over to one of the sofas in the grassy area. BE CAREFUL when walking on the grassy parts. People who bring pets here are not mindful about cleaning up after their pets. This is in stark contrast to our stay at Cambria Shores Inn during the previous days (a pet friendly hotel with lots of little dogs staying and no dog poop messes in the outdoor common areas). I guess the pet owners who stay at Cambria Shores Inn are more respectful than the ones who stay here at Paso Robles Inn. Another thing about the outdoor seating is that they look great from a distance, but their uncleanliness can be seen once you walk closer. They were dirty and there was even one set of sofas that had poop on them. It's as if the hotel staff does not go around and wipe the cushions down each day (which I have seen hotel staff do at other hotels and it truly makes a difference). It looks like a nice place to sit & relax outside, but doesn't really work out that way in practice. Hotel is conveniently located near shops & restaurants. The one challenge is crossing Spring St. which is way busier than I ever imagined it to be before booking a room here. LOL The downtown area is pleasant, and you don't need to drive anywhere unless you're visiting a nearby winery.

The vision behind this place is truly inspiring and heartwarming. Built from the ground up around sustainability, human energy, and the balance between light and dark: allegretto, as a name, captures it perfectly. There are structures and masterpieces from six continents woven throughout the grounds, and as you walk through, you feel transported: one moment you're in Europe, the next in India, the next rooted right here in the American West. Astrology, art, intention, and the practice of living in the present moment are threaded through every corner. The wine selection has something for every palate. The tasting room mostly outdoors and so relaxing + beautiful, and the club membership is def worth it! What truly sold me were my wine tour hosts, Rosemary and Ryan. From the moment I walked in, they were warm, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about this place. The spa was great too! Jackie and Denise were warm and I got an amazing facial. Started the morning with yoga in the chapel, which was serene and restorative in the best possible way. The restaurant, Cello, is also excellent. Renee and Devyn were kind & welcoming. Lisa and Ava at the front desk were gracious and warm every time I crossed their path. Also found the most thoughtful, reasonably priced gifts for my family at the wine tasting room: a rare bonus. Heard they're building a second pool that will include both a family pool and an adults-only pool too. A few small notes I'm sharing in the spirit of the brand itself: not as complaints, but as easy wins for mgmt. For a resort so deeply rooted in sustainability, plastic cups at the water stations felt out of place. Switching to paper would be a simple change with a meaningful impact. Similarly, the mats in the chapel were the Amazon brand, which didn't feel aligned with the intentionality of everything else here. And one logistical thing worth noting: a portion of the grounds was blocked off for a wedding the morning after I checked in (pic included) Had planned to wander early and would have really appreciated a heads up at booking so I could plan accordingly. None of this changes my overall experience or my enthusiasm for this place. Allegretto is one of those rare destinations that if the above aligns with what you enjoy, you will be transported. I was looking for a place close to downtown Paso and needed two bedrooms, something pet friendly,…read moreand a spot with a kitchen and fridge. I found The Lofts at the Market through my Amex hotel portal and honestly had zero regrets booking it! The two-bedroom unit was so nice and super spacious. Everything was incredibly clean. I was mainly in contact with Emily and Jill, and they were both so responsive and accommodating throughout my entire stay. Everything is handled through text, but if anything urgent comes up they're available by phone. Anytime I needed something--like extra towels or ice--I got it right away. Check-in, the stay itself, and check-out were all seamless. There's no lobby, which didn't bother me at all. There's a little market walk downstairs with restaurants, though some were closed since we came during the week. But downtown is super walkable, so it wasn't an issue. We really enjoyed staying here and would definitely book again when we're in the area. Thanks again to Jill and Emily for making everything so easy!

I took my parents on vacation and booked the two bedroom suite. The room is called the Agave room…read more The rooms are only accessible by stairs so be mindful when booking. It has the best lighting of any place I have ever stayed. Sky lights, tons of windows, great views. So good. Emily and Jill were great about reaching out via call or text. Every morning they'd check in if we needed anything. They do room turn over if requested and everyone who works there is very nice. Tons of parking. Jill and Emily were accommodating even down to asking for ice and have it dropped in the room while we were out. They have insulted ice buckets so the ice lasts a very long time without melting. They don't have ice machines in the room which is slightly an inconvenience but they were able to bring it up during their staff working hours. The sheets were soft and quiet. Some sheets are so rough and loud they wake you up while sleeping but these were so soft. They have a vanity in one room which was nice. The lighting shouldn't be overhead it should be facing the person but since the natural light was so good I just turned my chair so it was fine. The shower has good pressure just gets cold as it is a half glass door. They bring tons of towels and have darker ones specifically for removing make up which is brilliant! They have a tons of fridge space with two side by side mini fridges. They only have a microwave option if you're bringing food. The TV is a smart TV and large wall mounted so you can watch and log in to whatever you want. There is also a TV in each room. They do have a coffee shop downstairs they recommend but it was beyond terrible so I'd suggest anywhere else but that place is not associated with them just close proximity. We were walking distance of the park and center. About 10 to 14 minutes. Tons of restaurant nearby which were super yummy. Uber/lyft were always withing a 5 minute wait. Sensorio is close by and so are so many good wineries. I recommend Cass, Niner, and Eberle. Also only a 40 minute drive to Hearst castle and the elephant seals! Overall I would definitely be back. The service was great, the room was beautiful, super comfortable, and very clean.
