This spot is a classic diner, both in its decor and the food it serves. We enjoyed a large meal at a very affordable price. I ordered the Country Fried Pork Cutlet, and the pork was crispy and flavorful. The sides were a bit underwhelming and could have used more seasoning. The key lime pie was tasty and made for a nice ending to the meal.

Came in with my dad for an early bird dinner. I hadn't been here in probably close to 15 years and everything was great, just as I remembered. Menu is large and there's no shortage of various items to choose from. I went with the Grouper Oscar special with a crab cake on top, spinach and key lime sauce. Fantastic! Service was great as well. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

We were hungry and having breakfast at Mel's Diner was a good idea. Our order was brought out fast and the food was served hot with generous portions. Hubs went with the country omelette and hash browns and I decided on the two eggs with potatoes. Both our breakfast choices were served with a biscuit smothered in country gravy. It reminded me of a breakfast my grandma would have made on the farm. The menu has lots of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The best thing about Mel's is eating real food, not fusion or trendy, but ordinary meals prepared with fresh ingredients. They offer a variety of options for breakfast like pancakes, omelets and interesting items like eggs Benedict with salmon. Their lunchtime menu has plenty of sandwiches and salads, and for the dinner menu, think pot roast, meatloaf and fried chicken. Prices are reasonable here and Mel's is right off Tamiami Trail. A good place to stop by when you're hungry.

Great food...expansive menu..excellent service (Peter was such a helpful and positive server). Naples is lucky to have such a gem like "Mel's Diner"...the General Manager, John, makes sure guests are happy and the restaurant is well run. You can pretty much find anything you are craving on the menu...there's even a millionaire corner (fancy menu items). Love this place!

Two of us from our office decided to get hamburgers from Mel's. It was a late lunch and we were hungry. The service was good and attentive. Unfortunately, the mushroom Swiss burgers were both overcooked to our liking. One was ordered medium-rare and the other was ordered medium but they both were served well-done. The burgers were not dry but not great. The bun was very small and dry. Also, the burgers came with lettuce, tomato, pickle, coleslaw, and fries (not pictured).

I wanted to like Mel's Diner more as I generally enjoy retro diners, but my experience at their Naples location left much to be desired. It's an older building and didn't have that much retro diner theming throughout to generate much atmosphere, and the music didn't do much in creating a fun vibe. They did have some nice pictures, but they were in odd corners of the diner, and out of the view of most of the tables. We went with the Tuscan chicken pasta and the chicken parmigiana sandwich. Both were fine and huge portions, but neither were inspired with regards to recipe and were very average tasting. The pesto pasta was ok, and served with decently seasoned chicken. The chicken parmigiana sandwich was a generous filet of chicken much too large for the bun, but neither the bun, breading, chicken, sauce, nor cheese was particularly memorable. The Caesar salad was a run of the mill recipe, but was serviceable. The onion rings that came with the sandwich were tasty, but came out a bit saturated, leaving some unappetizing pools of oil on the plate they were served on. If the job is filling up your stomach, it's perfectly ok, but I would have preferred smaller portions of quality food over larger portions of average tasting and unmemorable food. Our waitress raved about the carrot cake dessert, so we naturally tried it, but that was mundane much like the rest of the food. Service was friendly, but our waitress forgot to enter an appetizer we ordered, so wound up skipping it (probably a good idea considering the portion sizes of the meals). They have a very varied menu, so perhaps some of the items taste better, but overall this was a very average (2.5/5) diner experience for us. Perhaps one of their other southwest Florida locations may deliver a better dining experience, but Mel's Diner in Naples would not make my food recommendation list.

This place has the best value for the money. You have to go here!! Our family has already ate here twice in the 4 days that we were here. I ordered the surf & turf for only $16.99. The filet was cooked perfectly throughout. Very tender. The lobster was delicious and tender. The salad with the strawberries, goat cheese and almonds was amazing!! Margaritas are only $3. The "fun" funnel fries for dessert is a MUST! The BEST ever!! The service is outstanding!!! Nickole was our waitress and she very friendly and helpful. Her service was second to none. The other guys that work there are super friendly and nice as well. Everytime we vacation in Naples, this is one of our "go-to" places. You will not be disappointed! read more

Came here for a walk down memory lane because we haven't been here in years and we loved our experience and Breakfast! Adriana was our waitress and she was a blast. Would love to actually give a review of the food but I can't. I sat at the counter yesterday and waited almost 15 minutes to be waited on--never happened. The wait staff repeatedly walked past me and simply ignored me. I go fed up (no pun intended) and left. read more

Disappointing. Friends recommended this place, but perhaps they meant the other location, because this one was nothing special. The host gave us a 20 minute estimated wait time then forgot to seat us. After 45 minutes, I asked him why he seated four groups that arrived after us. He offered no apology. Our server was busy but did her best. The coffee was just warm, our omelets were good but not great, and good value for the money. Not sure why the place was busy, but it's probably the alcohol. read more

Very good, low prices. Servers are excellent. However..... looks like menu hasn't been updated since 1970 or so. Several of our fish orders were over cooked. Common romaine lettuce and generic cesar (low garlic) dressing..... and cheap Bisquick-biscuits ?? Good place for a family. I'll return but hope owner upgrades much of the menu.... he could start adding more greens and herbs to salads..... dry some spicy or fruity sauces on the fish, maybe some more wines?? Decore is fun, though needs new carpet. One table was mostly enclosed so it helped with conversations with seniors who are hard of hearing. read more

Have only had breakfast there. It is easy to get to with plenty of parking. Service is good and breakfast is good, too. Good choice of breakfast meals. It is a bit dark in there for my tastes. There is nothing special about Mel's but no real complaints. read more

Good fast service and food. Got prime rib. It was a bargain at $14.99 for 16 oz(1lb). Don't expect a $30 meal but food is good and doesn't break the bank. I'm giving 4 star overall. I am sure they cater to s lot of older/ retirees. I find they love these inexpensive good value restaurants. read more

First time here. Service amazingly fast. Had chocolate chip pancakes with eggs, sausage and bacon for 7.99. Very good. Others had sausage gravy with biscuits and a 3 cheese omelet. Everything was good. Will be back. read more

I like Mel's. It's not the greatest food but it's not all bad either. It's diner food. You get reasonably good food at a reasonable price. The service is alway outstanding and everyone goes away happy. Just quit complaining folks. read more

A real diner!!! Wish there was one on the east coast wherever live. Real diner food, diner staff, total diner experience. Julienne salad had real off the frame turkey, always a good sign. Shaved beef sandwich was very good and eggs were done properly. Asked for fries and they came out hot and crispy. read more

Mel's Diner is a great place to go with the family. The decor is cute with a 50's theme. The pricing is average not to cheep, but very reasonable. THe food is pure comfort food. They have burgers, sandwiches, meatloaf, soup, and more. It is what I call a typical greasy spoon, but very memorable because of the decor and good quality of the food. What keeps me from making my rating a 5 star is that the seating is tight. There is stairs with a narrow path way, and we were seated at an open face table looking out at the diner. So, we moved. Other than this it was good and I do think it is a great place to bring the family! read more

I came in last week for breakfast. It was amazing, the omelet I had was one of the best ever. Try the Mediterranean omelet it's so good and comes with potatoes and soft biscuit. Coffee was fresh and always hot. I highly recommend this place. The staff were very friendly also, I had a server named Echo and she was the best.Very friendly and will make you feel right at home. She was excellent, attended to my needs right away. Once again I highly recommend this place. I am looking forward to coming back and will be asking for Echo's section. read more

Stale fries, cold tuna melt, server Candy offered applesauce as a replacement for fries, brought out hot slices, the type served with pork chops, though I didn't order pork chops. So the two items that are supposed to be served hot, were cold, and the one item I expected to be cold, was hot. In other words, a really terrible meal, with no one that cared, despite bringing it to the attention of the server and two people at the front. I was very quiet and polite in pointing what happened. Will never go back. read more

Went for breakfast. Husband and I loved it. Classics mixed with new dishes. Reasonably priced. Nice staff. Clean and nice atmosphere. It reminds me of the restaurants on LI and in NY when I was growing up. The clientele is a mix of all ages. Regulars, along with tourists. Great place for a quick meal. Mel's is one of our favorite restaurants in the whole country. This authentic 60s diner is a throwback to an age when everyone walking in the door is treated like family. And Andriana is more than a server - she's also our friend. Even when she's juggling a lot of guests, she always finds a way to engage in friendly conversation with each one. Finally, the menu is extensive and we've never had a meal we didn't like. We highly recommend Mel's Diner when you are in Naples. read more

There last night with friends. Waited for some time to get in. But there was 14 of us and had to be split in two tables. Not a problem. A VERY popular and always crowded place. I can see why. Very generous portions at very reasonable prices. A very varied menu with daily specials. Give it a try. Despite some things I read here, I found it to be very comfortable, wait staff very professional and courteous and the manager or owner stops by to ask how it's going. There are two prime rib sizes...12 and 14ozs. Take the larger, for the price ($15.99) and better as a thicker slice. Salad was the usual nice size. Not rushed here and everyone (14pp) was happy with their meals. We were there on a Tuesday night when the evenings special was Fried Buttermilk Chicken which again was a very nice portion, but I opted for another fave of theirs...the prime rib. Even though it wasn't as pink on the outside as I would have liked, it was "perfectly" cooked to my liking, medium rare! Enjoy going back in time with these prices!! read more

This PARTICULAR Mel's Diner (there are several) is one of our favorite places. We visit often, for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and find there is a consistent high quality. Lots of tasty comfort food, but the weekend lobster or prime rib delicious too. As weekly visitors, we've tried most of the daily specials and so far they are all winners. The staff is friendly and efficient also; another sign of a well-run restaurant. We always leave satisfied, happy, and full. read more

We'd be here all the time if it wasn't a trek. And honestly? This concept would crush it as a larger restaurant with a full bar. Palm Beach Boulevard is seriously lacking in quality restaurant options, Backyard Fire Grill would absolutely dominate that area. Just putting that out into the universe. Someone make it happen. The Verdict: Wings, beers, great vibes, and Tina taking care of us, another five-star visit to Backyard Fire Grill. This place has the formula dialed in. A fun setting in a comfortable environment. I came in with my children expecting the typical vibe you get, cause you know kids aren't always going to behave in public. We were greeted with a smile and seated right away. The server, Echo, took great care of us. She treated us as regulars and even took special care to my kids. Wait times for drinks and food were slim to none. My son and I enjoyed a nice juicy cheeseburger while my other children had a classic hotdog and chicken tenders.
