We came here on a weekend for a late lunch so it wasn't that busy. They have an extensive menu. I think it's hard to go wrong with a burger and chilli. The burger was cooked through and loaded with thick sliced pickles, lettuce and tomatoes. The tator tots were freshly fried. The beef chilli is loaded with beef and beans - the temperature could have been warmer. I almost wanted to see if they would throw it in the microwave for another minute or so. JD is a funky retro diner where it seems many are regular customers. Today was our first time. We went for breakfast. It can get a bit noisy inside when full and customers have their caffeine kicking in. There is seating outside, weather permitting. Emily was our friendly, attentive server. We had a Natural/Veggie Omlette and Cheese Blintzes with two eggs, and of course tea and coffee. A lot of tasty food at reasonable prices. That is why JD is so popular. read more

Joe's Diner was our go to place for a relatively quick and easy solid breakfast/lunch when we were in Naples. We bragged about the food and atmosphere to friends. It had throwback decor and an active fun vibe. They "remodeled" recently and much of the atmosphere was, unfortunately, taken out in the process. We recently visited once again for a quick breakfast and were really disappointed with the new menus featuring unreasonably jacked up prices. A basic scrambled egg and sausage dish was now $18, when it was a fraction of that price not that long ago. When the meal came, the quantity of eggs was also a fraction of what they once served, and the sausage was overcooked. My wife's burger was practically raw, although she ordered it "medium." We paid over $60 with tip for a mediocre nothing meal. The owner(s) have priced themselves into the higher end brunch spots in town and even beyond in many cases. The quality and quantity of food as well as the atmosphere are simply not enough to support the pricing structure. Service was great. When you walk in you get told to sit where ever you feel comfortable. The husband and I sat at a table that rocked, the lady said she would get something for it, she didn't. The hubs ended up fixing it with a folded napkin, no biggie. My eggs were yummy and fluffy my toast looked slightly burned and wasn't, it's just wheat toast. I hated the blueberry pancake. The compote was gross and the berries acidic. The grits were very tasty. The inside is is small. You can tell they have regulars. I guess we associate the 1950's with innocence. Was it actually a time of innocence? Well, the 1950's were before my time and the most I can associate with that time is watching the television show "Happy Days" and classic movies like "The Lords of Flatbush," "American Graffiti" (though this movie was set in 1962, it still is associated with the 1950's),"Grease" and more. However, those movies (and that television show) make the 1950's certainly an appealing time. Anyway, Joe's Diner is a great option for a meal. Service is friendly and while the menu does not stray far from your typical diner standards, the food is good and the prices are right. There is parking in the front but if you have a big car it is better to park in the rear with ample parking space. Inside dining can be crowded but there is a nice breeze area outside with outdoor tables. This diner is clean, cozy and decorated with memorabilia along with checkered vinyl tablecloths. Menu is Large and well organized so you might not need your reading glasses! Today, for lunch, I have Jose's Chili Huevos Rancheros and wife ordered a Reuben sandwich. The corned beef with sauerkraut, cheese, Thousand Island dressing grilled just right with marble rye bread. The sweet potato fries added another dimension to made this delicious meal! My Jose's Chili Huevos Rancheros has all the right ingredient, spinach tortilla, chili, cheeses and two eggs. Some time, I added a little Tabasco sauce for extra heat. We stopped in for a light lunch at noon on a Sunday and there were plenty of tables as the season is winding down. I settled on a Reuben Hot Dog with fries and RC went all in with a fried chicken platter. So let me backtrack to why we were there because there's really no such thing as a "light" lunch at Joe's! My Reuben Hot Dog was about a foot long. They split and grill their enormous wieners and serve them on a fresh, toasted bun. It was good, but the flavor of the hot dog overpowered the sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island. They offer many different dog toppers, like BLT or peppers and onions. Next time though I'll go for a naked dog because it was juicy and delicious. RC was served a 1/2 chicken, cut up and deep fried to a crispy crunchy finish. The accompanying mashed potatoes (fresh), gravy, and veg were also very good. I managed to eat just about half of my lunch but RC finished his. Oh, don't forget. Joe's Diner is a throwback in the best way possible. Even though it is located in Florida, you feel like you are thrown back into a 1980s New Jersey diner (minus the wise guys and cigarette smoke). While on vacation in Naples I ate at Joe's twice for breakfast and each meal was delicious....and came with free grits! The grits were free but they are worth paying for. Joe's is fairly priced for the amount of food you get and the quality of the food. My breakfast BLTCE was phenomenal and so big that I was a little intimidated. I also had a waffle and eggs and bacon. All food lived up to what you want from a diner. The staff was very courteous. We had the same waitress both days and she was great. The warm bananas and gooey peanut butter played so well together in between the layers of French toast. I was the lucky recipient of the bacon majority. My Field of Dreams omelette was subpar and needed a heavier pour of Bernaise. Zero flavor and dry. Luckily, the Elvis made up for the omelette's forgettable performance. The restaurant interior is showing its age and under certain light could be considered dirty. The outside seating was a better option and we took it. Here we go again. Walked in on a Sunday, early afternoon. 2 old woman servers were sitting at the counter, they both turned. Looked at us standing and wondering if we should sit ourselves or wait for someone. However, they just as quickly turned away, after making eye contact, returned to eating. Should have left right there and then AGAIN, but wanted to see what and when anyone would come. Finally a younger woman came, she was nice but not very good at her job. Food was good enough to return for but not until they rid the old help and better train the servers. The server was confused about the Birthday club when we asked, ignored our 10%off Reward card we handed her, plus did not give us any points we earned for the meal. When we asked, she just said, oh, sorry, I did not notice, but did not offer to fix it. How could she miss it? She had it in her hand and returned it to us! Oh, also took our receipt, so we got none as we walked out the door. Didn't want to bother asking again.... Come on, you can have a good thing going here....
