We went for restaurant week and while the menu was limited for us, we all had great food and very good service. We had a pretty long wait but the delicious drinks made the time go fast. My only complaint would be it's very noisy, very hard to follow conversations. read more

We have always enjoyed the atmosphere of Melt. I always order the calamari and crab cake app. The tiramesu is also a very good dessert.

Please note -- this review correlates to the first (and last) time I stopped at Melt. Now, first let me say that both myself and a guest were not told there was a dress code at this place -- especially for lunch! So, wearing casual attire, we were given the once over by a snotty, overbearing hostess who informed us we should probably take up outside seating. Once outside, we encountered some other people that had the same problem. One couple had an infant with them, while another husband/wife had just come from Eagles training camp and were told they weren't allowed inside wearing football jerseys (ohhhh...the shame of supporting your local team!) To continue this lovely experience, we waited between 10-15 minutes before a waiter even came to take our drink order. At this time, he discovered we had been given no silverware and napkins...so he promptly disappeared to go find some. Another five minute wait ensued, and by this time the waiter returns with a waitress, who attempts to place a $6 bottle of water on the table. Seriously?! Me thinks not. We kindly tell the waitress we'll both be having iced tea, and without a word she takes our glasses and the water bottle (having already unscrewed the cap) and marches off. (I think she might have had smoke coming from her ears, too!) The food, if that's what you want to call it...would have been better suited for a local school cafeteria. The "melt burger" I had was so overcooked it could have passed for a large hunk of charcoal. The roll they served it on was stale and also drenched in a disgusting amount of oil. The portobello mushroom was so massive it overpowered the taste and texture of anything else on the plate, and the "crispy panchetta" was incredibly soggy. (And don't even get me started on the four of five "parmesan" fries lumped together on the side of the plate. They were cold, half-baked and also cost a pretty penny) My guest also described her food as "gross", noting that the "breaded" chicken in her panini was missing its breading, the cheese wasn't melted and the "sauce" was nothing more than small pieces of crushed tomato. The bread was also equally stale, her fries were also cold...and the whole sandwich fell apart the minute she picked it up. The tab for two sandwiches, two glasses of ice tea and one side was over $40. Just insanely ridiculous considering how bad the food was at this place. Thank God we were using a gift card, and will never go back to spend another penny at this place! If you want good food and a great atmosphere in the Lehigh Valley, try some of the restaurants in downtown Bethlehem and forget about Melt! read more

When I visited Melt I was immediately struck by the glamorous movie-like ambiance. It's absolutely gorgeous. The elevator has a glass wall, the bathroom mirrors are back lit with enigmatic blue light, and the stairs are very grand! But the food flat out does not live up to this beautiful place. I went there for dinner with some friends as part of a bachelorette party. We thought we'd do some high style dineing before the drunken bar hopping. I took the opportunity to look at the menu and the prices online before arriving so nothing about that surprised me. However the food was surprisingly un-special. I had a personal artisan pizza. The flavors did not blend well to me, the sauce was scant, and the cheese blend was unimaginative. The sangria was fine. But that's the problem, it was just fine. I could've come up with something similar at home and not paid anywhere near that much. Our waitress didn't seem to know the product very well. When we asked her for wine recomendations she couldn't provide any. So it's better if you know what you like before you show up! We all split a very chocolate dessert. The place is amazing. The staffs are very friendly!! The layout of the place will blow your mind; there is no other restaurant around that is as beautiful and well decorated as Melt. Was there for lunch today. First time for my family and I. Everything was top notch from the front entrance all the way through to when we left and in between. Very intimate type ambiance, dim lighting with little candles on the tables which I liked. The food was outstanding, bursting with good flavor. Service was excellent. Entrees are pricey as meals are À la carte and menu items are priced and ordered separately...but portions are large so you will have some to take home. We tried Melt for a Father's Day luncheon. It was our first time there. Once we entered we could immediately tell that it was a high end place. We were seated on the first floor (there are 3 floors of dinning). Everything about the service is high class. We ordered Bruschetta for an appetizer and it was amazing. After we finished the appetizer, they cleared the plates and silverware and replaced it with new larger silverware before the meal came. Once the meal came everyone was delighted with their choice. Parmigiana cheese was grated freshly over our dishes. Service was perfect and food was extremely delicious. Additional bonus is its location, you can eat then shop, a perfect combination!! Things have changed at this restaurant. We have been going here since it opened. Menus have changed they are now printed menus like you will find at Olive Garden or any other chain restaurants. Staff no longer wears chef styled uniforms which were awesome. Food has also been cheapened...for years I orders the rigatoni off of the menu...it is no longer available on the menu but the chef will make it....no longer tastes the same. The olive bread which was top shelf is now bread that no longer contains olives and tastes like cardboard. Very disappointed with the amount that one will pay that even a Paxos restaurant has clearly started to cut corners and if you have been visiting this place for years like my family you will see the difference. Maybe instead of opening Top Cut you would have remained focused on melt, and blue. For a new visitor you may not notice. Sad but don't think that this will be at the top of my list until some things change back to what is expected. read more

I don't mind paying extra for quality product and fantastic service, but I definitely take issue with a $7 Fat Tire served with a scowl. As a frequent business traveler, I dine out often, and it's truly been a long time since I was treated so poorly by restaurant staff. Let's be real for a second. Are we in a trendy Manhattan restaurant or bar? No. Is this true fine dining? No. This restaurant is in a shopping center in the Lehigh Valley, PA. I mean, come on, what's with the snobbery? I can't take you seriously when your outdoor fireplace works intermittently, your bar is empty, and your bouncer is circling around like a vulture over roadkill... Maybe out of boredom? Way to make a group of adults feel like they're being watched by a lunchroom monitor in an elementary school cafeteria, by the way. The likelihood that I'll return here for any reason is minimal at best. And I'll NEVER bring any out of town coworkers here. Finally, to the smug female bartender on the third level: You're not doing me a favor by pouring me a beer when your bar is essentially empty on a Saturday evening. I advise you lose the attitude. Or, if you don't like dealing with the public, find another way to earn a living. There are settings in which people pay money to be treated poorly, but I don't believe restaurants fall into that category. read more

We went to the Melt to celebrate our anniversary. We did so with some trepidation given some of the reviews here. But we had a perfect evening. The worst was finding parking in a mall parking lot and that was not bad when someone left about 50 feet away. We were promptly seated. Our waiter promptly took our drink orders, told us about specials and was very knowledgeable about the food. Service throughout the meal was fantastic. I had rack of lamb and my wife had scallops, both were cooked perfectly and presented very well. When my wife offered that it was our anniversary, dessert came with a complementary cheesecake (with lit candle) and champagne. That alone was thoughtful but the plate with the cheesecake had "Happy Anniversary" written in chocolate on it. Several staff members including a member from the kitchen came and congratulated us! The ambiance was great. It has a large dining area over several floors, but the tables were spaced so that it never felt overwhelming. The lighting was low but added to the ambiance of the decor. The background music, which I noticed only because of a previous review, was low and that was the only time I was aware of it. While the restaurant was full, the noise level was low, probably because of the acoustics in the room. The service was very attentive, plates were promptly removed, our wine replenished, and care was taken to make us feel that appreciated dining here. This was an Anniversary we will remember as one of the best; with 44 to choose from, it says a lot. Thank you Melt staff! read more

The other night, we (three of us, two females and myself, a male) had finished dinner and dessert and were getting ready to depart in a few minutes, when the manager came up to our table and said that other guests were not comfortable with our conversation. Mind you, the only ones that were in the entire restaurant at the time were us and the table next to us with two women who were also getting ready to leave. We had no idea what we had said that was offensive, but it was obvious who the complainers were. The manager then offered to move US to another table. In my opinion, if someone is offended by something, THEY should be the ones to move. We were leaving at that point anyway so we didn't argue the point. The service was ok but the food was very average. Nothing great that would make me want to come back again. I think this place is highly overrated. read more

THE "MELT" EXPERIENCE: Today we decided to try "MELT". I was starving, and ready for a great tasting, expensive, high end meal. After all this is what everyone says about this place right? I'm no foodie, but in this past year I've had my share of Cheap places, and Expensive places. This place ranks in at Lower Mediocre. Let me explain. They start you off with a plate of oil and 3 kinds of bread (2 slices each). I would expect the oil in a high end restaurant to have the Bite in the back of your tongue, moderate spices within, and a fruity after tone, really am I asking for too much?. This oil was bright yellow, clear (no spices) and no bite at all. Exactly the same thing as Bertolli that sells for 4.00 a bottle at the shop rite. Ok I'll let them slide on the low grade oil. Now the bread. 3 styles, one was normal cold bread, the other 50% stale ciabatta, lastly..warm grain. They got 1 out of 3 correct. I got the stuffed Pork Loin 28.00, arrived on a bed of dandelion leaves, with all kinds of sticks of burnt spices on top. Somewhat dry, fatty all around the edges, the leaves were everywhere. Overall 4 out of 10. I've had better at backyard barbecues. Almost forgot the salad, I ordered the Cesar salad. Menu tells you it comes with Anchovie. I stressed no anchovies whatsoever they are disgusting. 3rd fork full of watered down ceasar dressing (they cleaned the lettuce but apparently they don't spin it, terrible) that tasted like Aldi brand Cesar dressing I hit a fucking anchovie. I almost lost it, ran to the bathroom which is upstairs for some god damn reason, and proceeded to Cough and gag profusely at the sink. People in there didn't know what the fuck was going on. Lesson learned Melt sucks. Mediocre at best, I'd rather eat just about anywhere. Terrible. You want a great restaurant go to Longhorn. All the public falls for the Hype of this place, Shit ain't worth the 100.00 meal. I'll never go there again, this was the first and last time. Terrible. .. almost forgot about the asparagus Parmesan side dish, 8 pieces, 4 of them cooked very well, almost perfect. 2 of them tasted like dead vinegar and were gray, other 2 way undercooked almost raw. 50% on the side dish. read more

If I closed my eyes,I would have thought my much ballyhood chicken parm was made at the Olive Garden,for a 1/3 of the price that Melt charges, I would take the wife back for a cocktail and maybe a couple of apps,but the overall quality of the dinner was disappointng,especially considering the premium prices charged on the menu. Pretentious! The decor is cold and sophisticated. The meal was below value, unworthy of second glass of wine. A kin to something you'd make at home and not want to eat. The menu is uncreative. Wine was pricey. The service was automated. We walked in hungry and left gassy-wishing we'd gone somewhere else. We had rotisserie 1/2 chicken, asparagus, and pasta Bolognese, a glass of wine- $80 w/tip. The chicken was woefully warm, the pasta can like, the bread was cold, the olive oil stale. Easily the best upscale Italian restaurant in the Lehigh Valley. The appetizers are all very fresh and flavorful. The bufula, mozzarella cheese made from buffalo milk, is the best I've had. Complimentary bread and olive oil. The atmosphere, although very warm, modern, and tastefully decorated, is not very Italian and feels like the place was supposed to be an Asian fusion restaurant. That being said, the entire menu is appealing and based on my many experiences dining at Melt, I would confidently order anything. read more

Went for lunch - this place is WAY overpriced and comes with a server with an "I don't give a darn attitude"! Had to wait for menus, then waited for the meal, then waited for more water. Water is a no brainer - the pitcher was right THERE; but, oh no, it seems like she enjoyed being in control and making us wait. Will never return and do not recommend. Totally BAD experience!!!!!! The staff were incredibly attentive, the food was wonderful and they made sure we could focus on catching up with friends and family. Went for a nice dinner with family and friends. This place is located conveniently in the promenade shopping center. It's large and very modern. I made reservations for 7 at 8pm and needed to change them to 830 which they accommodated with no hassle. We were seated almost immediately. The ambience was nice, but too dark. The combination of little to no lighting with small font of the menu made it difficult to choose a meal. The waitress had a flashlight, but it was ridiculous that anyone needs to use on in the first place. The food was pretty good. I started with the fried calamari appetizer which was a large portion. I couldn't finish it. The dipping sauce with it was tasty. For my entree I had fettuccini bolognese. The sauce and meat was delicious. I had a glass of Chardonnay with the meal and we drank sparkling Voss water. The service was immaculate. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I'd go back again and check out a different part of the restaurant. It's a good find in the area. read more

The red sauce was burnt and I think the manager knew of this himself being he kept asking us how it was. The price for everything was overpriced but then again the atmosphere made up for it.
