Went this Sunday right after noon, we walked in right before the big rush. Food was served very quick, even though it's counter service, they bring your food to the table and our food runner thanked us for dining with them..it's the little things. Food was delicious! Husband is particular about his reubens, usually he tries them and says they are "ok" he couldn't stop raving about this one, I secretly think he wished he had another! Usually a great experience, but this one, not so much. The rajun cajun chicken sandwich had the pesto chicken on it. When I brought this to the attention of the staff, I was told the Cajun spices have been changed due to complaints they were too spicy. I advised the staff that this chicken was not Cajun at all, and was the wrong chicken for this sandwich. no one bothered to even look at my sandwich. Apparently they did not believe me as no one followed up with me. I did not finish my sandwich, and and left with no other customer service offered. Just very disappointed. read more

I have been to the Melt in downtown Birmingham and loved it, so when I heard a new one was being built right down the road I was so excited. My friend and I went for dinner one night and it was just as great as I hoped. The chicken pesto is to die for. The only downside is they do not have healthy options for sides such as fruit. I had the patty melt and she had the Buffalo chicken salad. The patty melt was great, very cheesy and I chose beer-battered fries as the side. Maybe it was a case of unmet expectations? Compounded by employee shortages? Whatever the case, this did NOT work out for us. It took about ten minutes to order three burgers because the person taking our order didn't know how to operate the system. We got three burger plates on "gluten free" buns... which aren't buns, they're gf bread. When the food came, we had an extra side of fries, which we didn't want but assumed we paid for since they didn't read the order back and you don't get an itemized receipt- and our bill was $42 for three burgers with water. On that note, you also have to pay for a cheeseburger, hold the cheese. The fries were amazing. The hamburger patties were burned and only tasted like char. First time there. My son and I got the Mac & cheese egg rolls, baked goat cheese dip and he got the Mac & cheese melt and I got the chicken pesto melt. Mac & cheese egg rolls the sauce was the best thing on the plate. In my opinion the Mac & cheese had no flavor; couldn't even taste cheese. The goat cheese wasn't bad but it was so sweet the tang from the cheese was gone. My son enjoyed his Mac & cheese melt. The fries were just ok. The chicken pesto had no flavor. The staff was very nice and helpful and it was very clean. I was however a very turned off when I saw a guest drinking out of their cup with no straw and then go for a refill. The staff told me there was not a soda gun behind the counter to get a refill so I went without. Covid is still out there people. Take my opinions as you will. There were a lot of young children so maybe that's why the hold back on seasonings ‍. We may go back just to taste the fried snickers and Oreos. Not a place I would recommend. read more

We order from Melt once a week and have yet to be disappointed. Food is consistently good and we love all their combinations of bread and cheese! Our go to favorites are the Ragin Cajun and Goat Cheese appetizer. Our friends are deeply committed to the Cuban. Wow super impressed with Melt (Hoover location).. I guess I always imagined that everything would be just super heavy but we've ordered the nachos, the Cajun chicken sandwich, the strawberry salad... and of course the fried oreos. All absolutely delicious! The salad tastes like how you wish your salads would taste when you make it at home (haha simple but perfect)..The nachos were my FAVE and we got them to-go and they surprisingly held up very well. The chips were so yummy, the BBQ was tender and soooo flavorful, jalapeños were crunch and spicy, and the sauces/cheese were sooo yummmmmm! Loved the ratio of everything because there were enough toppings to go with all of the chips! Shared with hubby and we were both super full after. Next favorite are the fries.. so potatoEy with a crispy outside batter and perfectly salted. The Texas toast was comforting and hugged the sandwich well. Oreos are BANGIN don't skip them. Ordered food to go through Yelp/ Grubhub. I've only ever had food from the Melt Food Truck. The order was ready before the estimated pick up time. We both ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was great!! The beer battered fries were amazing as well! The food was still pretty warm, to where we didn't have to reheat it-- huge plus! Tried the Patty melt for the first time and was surprised when they asked how I want my burger. Asked for medium and they nailed it which doesn't happen often. The food I've gotten is okay but the service kind of turns me off from this place. I've been twice in the last month or so and each time the person taking our order has just been rude, short, acted like I was bothering them with ordering. I understand it's probably not a fun job but as a server myself even just seeming neutral is fine to me! Just not rude. I got the Ole Smokey sandwich and the turkey was way too salty for me.
