Called the office and a very new receptionist told me it was normal - I did not at all agree and firmly told her to talk to a doctor or assistant. Someone more knowledgeable was quickly put on the phone and she got me into an appointment later in the day as the doctors were on a surgery day. While my wait at the office was long that day - which was fine as I was pushed into an already busy schedule, my eye was dilated and seen by Dr. Crews. After examination I went home knowing that a) my call was validated and b) that while there was a bit of an issue, my retina was still fine but that didn't mean a problem couldn't appear. Three days later I had a worser episode with the eye very late in the afternoon but knew I had an appointment already scheduled for the morning with Dr. Crews. Well we switched the purpose of the appt when I arrived and the doctor decided there was enough issue going on that he got on the phone with a retina specialist to get me fit into their schedule and they sent me right over. Big props to Dr. Crews for seeing me when needed and explaining what he believed was happening (he was correct about it) and then getting on the phone with the retina specialist to fit me right into their busy day. Thank you to the team, but train those new receptionists a wee bit better. And if you are reading this in choosing a doctor for lasik/cataracts, I continue to highly recommend Dr. Crews and overall all the great & kind staff in his office.

From the moment I walked in, I felt seen and taken care of. The PAS in the front was so warm and attentive. The Physician Assistant that dilated my eyes and walked me through the process were so amazing. The technician that did my retinal scan was a hoot. The poor guy that had to access my veins for contrast worked with my terrible veins, kudos for getting it in on the first try! Dr. Lujan is so knowledgeable and has amazing bedside manners. He explained everything so clearly and answered all my questions. He also referred me to another doctor for my congenital cataract surgery. Everything was so great, I left the clinic feeling like I got my answers for my very extremely rare retinal issue. Highly recommend this practice if you have anything retina related.

They have a massive waiting room that is very friendly for children. They are very patient and understanding with children on the spectrum and will move and work in the craziest angles so your child is most comfortable for the most accurate diagnosis possible. My daughter gets a new prescription for her glasses every year here and she is always comfortable when speaking to her Provider about what she can and can't see and what will make it better. This is normally hard for her but with these people they make it a lot easier for her to be comfortable enough to speak for herself.

It's hard find a doctor who actually cares for their patients and Dr. Nicacio truly cares for his. He is very knowledgeable and very professional and makes the visit so comfortable. I never feel rushed when I come in and he always answers any questions/concerns so clearly . I trust and believe I am in the best care when I come visit. Not only is he friendly and welcoming, everyone at the office is as well. The staff made me feel at ease and they all seemed so happy and cheerful. When the receptionist brought it up, I asked if it cost extra; she said yes, and then told her I wasn't interested. You'd think it would end there. After Dr. Breeden finished the main portion of the exam, she made it a point to get up, close the door, and lecture me about the importance of dilation, imploring scare tactics, and comparing it to having vitals checked. This was just insulting. It's my health, and it's my money, and I have the right to opt out. I'd like to think that professionals could take a hint that money is clearly an issue for me without me having to say HEY, I'M FUCKING BROKE, I'M JUST HERE TO GET A PRESCRIPTION SO I CAN BUY CONTACT LENSES. The icing on the cake was not being given (or emailed) my new prescription at the end of the visit. After I emailed them asking for it, there was another little passive aggressive cherry on top -- part of my prescription was left blank, and I had to dig up my old prescription to find the number (the BC, or base curve, which is either 8.4 or 8.8 when ordering contacts online). My wife scheduled a routine annual eye exam with Cascade Eye, but the visit was later classified as…read morea medical exam without her knowledge. Prior to the appointment, she was asked about medical insurance, which caused confusion, as this was an annual routine eye appointment. I called the office seeking clarification, but Dylan could not adequately explain why the visit was billed as medical. I was told the office manager, Chrissy, would call my wife the next day, but no call was made. When I followed up that afternoon, Chrissy stated, "I had no intention of calling or apologizing because I was too busy doing other things and credentialling another doctor." Chrissy had time to listen to the recordings of my wife making the initial appointment and my conversation with Dylan, talk to the front desk staff, talk to the examining Optometrist, and review the billing for the visit, all prior to our phone conversation. During our conversation, Chrissy fabricated that my wife "came in concerned about her cataracts and eyelids." This is flatly untrue. Rather than addressing our concerns, she focused on my tone and accused me of being rude and condescending. She also minimized our concerns by stating that, "the medical portion would likely be covered and that we would not receive a bill." We have still not received a clear explanation as to why a routine vision exam became a medical exam. During the exam, the doctor confirmed my wife's existing cataracts were unchanged and briefly discussed drooping eyelids, which my wife declined to pursue treatment for. At no point was she informed that the exam was being converted to a medical visit. My wife has been a patient at Cascade Eye for years, and her cataracts previously documented during routine exams, without the visits being billed medically. We feel it was disingenuous that she was not informed of the change in billing status and was asked by receptionist Kathy to sign treatment consent forms after the exam. My wife has since called the office and requested an itemized bill from Dylan. The staff's poor communication, inability to answer billing questions, and dismissive response to our concerns caused unnecessary confusion and stress. Instead of receiving an explanation or apology, we encountered contentiousness and contradictory information, including statements that previous visits were not billed medically because a prior doctor had "shoddy paperwork.". We invite the clinic owner to listen to the conversations I had with his staff on August 11th & 12th. In particular, the office manager completely failed to represent Cascade Eye in a professional manner, and instead deflected blame onto the front desk staff, previous doctors, my wife, and myself. This was an awful patient & family experience filled with unclear, dishonest staff communication and misleading billing. We would not recommend this clinic and will absolutely be seeking eye care elsewhere. Catrina C
