The dining room is very inviting and it always has families, couples and friends eating, talking and laughing. Quarantine review: I have finally returned from my 3 month hiatus from Yelp due to covid. I've eaten here multiple times and every time has been sooo good except for this time. So I'm sad to leave this review now, but I will update this review next time to see if anything changed. My bf got the steak burrito dinner and he said his meal was fire. I got my usual, carne asada taco dinner. I also wanted to try something new and all the pictures of the sopes looked good so I got one with al pastor. My taco dinner did not taste the same, and I'm going to assume its cause of this whole pandemic. The tacos were good, but the tortillas were hard. The rice was hard and lacking flavor. The beans were very good so I finished that first!! I had saved a taco for later that night and I microwaved it, and it ended up tasting better microwaved. I will say I love all their salsa, but my favorite is the orange one! The sopes was a disappointment. They pack on so much on top that I could barely even taste the meat. I first tried El Taconazo at a festival in Little Village. I liked them a lot when I went, so I had checked out their location in Melrose Park. The tacos there were way to salty and I almost took them off my list. With so much competition for tacos in Chicago, it would have been an easy decision. I decided not to to take them off my list and tried them again at their Fullerton location. There I fell in love with their carne asasa tacos, and didn't care for their lengua and al pastor, and told myself I would only order their carne Asada. Fast forward to this location on Central, I ignored my last experience and again ordered a lengua, al pastor and carne Asada Taco. All I can say is wow. All three tacos were executed perfectly and absolutely addicting. They start you off with chips and salsa with three salsa and a bowl of like wedges so you can munch on chips while you wait for your food. Their service was somewhat quick, a little slow but the place is full so it was expected. But the highlight of the night were these three tacos. Their carne Asada skirt steak and it is grilled perfectly. Topped with cebolla & cilantro with some red hot salsa and it's game over. Every bite is just perfect. I always make the mistake of ordering al pastor with cebolla y cilantro and it doesn't taste that great to me. I like ordering these plain with some red hot salsa as well. The cebolla and cilantro cuts the pork fat too much and takes away the flavor. The lengua is also delicious. Although I felt like they skimped me on some meat. This taco with cebolla y cilantro topped with green salsa with some Limon squeezed on top make for a perfect bite. El Taconazo will forever be our go to taco spot. read more

Hey hey, found another taco restaurant that I liked! I love these type of authentic Mexican restaurants. No frills, no fusion crap, just some good ole tacos at very reasonable prices. I ordered my usual 3 taco dinner and I was very pleased. The steak tacos were tasty and so was the al pastor. The meat was flavored well and tender. You also get complimentary chips and salsa when dining in, which is always a plus. Their chips were nice and crunchy with a good blend of salt and 3 types of salsa were offered. The service was great. We immediately had a server attend to us seconds after we sat down even though the restaurant was a little busy at the time. Always in search of good tacos, a Yelp friend told me I must try this place. Not too far from my neighborhood, I decided to check it out for a late lunch. There was still a nice crowd of folks there about 2pm and steady take-out action was going on--all a good sign. They have a good-sized menu including breakfast, tacos, burritos, sopes, enchiladas, tortas... and menudo and pozole on weekends. There were four different agua frescas in the bubbler and they offer soft drinks too. Everyone that dines in gets chips and salsa--the salsas were very tasty. The red was pretty hot for me, the salsa verde--flavorful with a nice kick (my favorite) and there was a mild red. The chips were fresh and crispy. This place has done itself a huge favor by moving across the road, expanding their dining room, and still having customer parking available in the back. Hubby and I walked over there and ordered for takeout on a very important night for the Cubs. With that being said, I expected the restaurant to be busy. However, there were a few chairs for patrons to sit down and watch the game live comfortably. Honestly, the wait was reasonable for a Saturday night like this. The carne asada taco ($1.99, as of 10/21/2016) was delicious! I would probably stick to their tacos next time because I wasn't impressed much by their menudo. I would also scale up my order on their limon agua fresca. It was gone before we got home. For a taqueria this caliber, they should be able to afford taking debit/credit transactions. $3.25 for a taco, and it looks like they just sprinkled some meat on my tortillas. I ordered sopes, wanted my husband to try them for the first time, and I get one completely soaked as if they poured in the liquid of the sour cream Instead of scooping some sour cream on top of it. My second one seem like they couldn't decide if they were gonna make a tostada or a sope, Because it looked better, but it was a bit on the crispy side, which as I've had them before they are not supposed to be crispy like that. This has been my go to taco spot for years, I choose it over all the others around us over and over again. The price increase we still went, but now I feel cheated. I absolutely love this Taconazo location. I always wanted to try it when it was across the street, but it was always so packed. Now I see why! The steak from here is phenomenal. Always perfectly seasoned and without any gristle or fat in the meat. With steak I have had the sopes, burritos, nachos, and the tacos, and I have never been disappointed. I have also had their chicken enchiladas, which were good, as well as their gorditas with rajas con queso. Waitstaff always seem busy, but they are polite, and it's easy to see why they are busy with the amount of customers they always have. Despite that, I have never had to wait in line for a table. Be aware that this restaurant accepts CASH ONLY, but they do have an ATM inside. Chips come with three different types of salsa, but if you ask for extra chips you will be charged. read more
