I was even able to sit in the air conditioned comfort of my car while Reda Mena conducted the smog check. (Thank goodness my 9 year old car passed.) The garage space was uncluttered and clean. So today I needed a smog check. I waited until the very last day to pay my registration. Le sigh. I am a procrastinator extraordinaire. Anyway I showed up to this shop precisely at 8am, after the gym and before Pilates. The shop was open right on time and I met the owner Mena who is a true gentleman, he was so kind and explained everything. I think this will be my spot to get all my cars smog checked. It was just a little bit more than other places that quoted me, but it was closer to my house. The best part was you're able to sit in your car while he's doing it. The service was quick. About 20-30 min. The only thing he kept asking was if I understood so that confused me a little bit. I called 5 different smog stations for my 91 Land Cruiser. Two of them said to come in and when they found out it was OBD1 on arrival, they all turned me away. ALL 5 of them ended up saying the same thing: their machines or systems were down and they couldn't do my OBD1 smog. Called Mena Smog Check and he told me to come in at any time. I came while he was eating lunch ‍ but he said it wasn't a problem and got straight to work! While waiting for all the tedious testing required for vehicles 1995 and below, which took 45 minutes, he also simultaneously did smogs for other customers (with newer vehicles) coming in with no problem. There was no long wait for the other customers. IF YOU DRIVE AN OLDER VEHICLE... COME STRAIGHT HERE!!! Don't waste your time discovering all the places that have employees TOO LAZY to set up for the OBD1 testing. read more
