After the great water main break fiasco of 2025 this past weekend that left me without water for 24 hours and a boil order for 2-3 days, I managed to break my kitchen faucet while trying to figure out how to get the aerator out so I could flush the faucet. (Never did manage to get it out, but whatever). But, I did manage to unscrew the head/sprayer (thinking that would help with the aerator) and accidentally let go of the hose so it retracted into the gooseneck faucet and would not come out...So I couldn't reattach the faucet head. My building engineer even came by to help and the two of us couldn't fix it. I decided to go try to find a pipe fitting of the same size that I could screw into the faucet hose so I could yank it out. After a failed trip to Home Depot where the employees said my faucet head (which I brought with me) was in metric so they didn't have the right size, I bought a 1/2 inch steel nipple anyway thinking that it may be close enough. It didn't work, as it seemed like it was too wide. After calling the faucet company (who couldn't tell me the thread size for the faucet head and whose recommendation was to get metal dental tools to pry it out....because I have those lying around?) and going to another plumbing supply store in Skokie and their guy saying they didn't have anything that would work, my building engineer suggested North Shore Faucet. It's a small operation but the general manager (Natalia?) was super helpful. She took the faucet head and screwed it into a hose she had at the the counter to verify it would fit, and then grabbed a 1/2" nipple and screwed that into the same hose. She said that a 1/2 inch nipple would definitely work and that I should try again with the one that I bought at Home Depot. Well, lo and behold, it worked. I guess I just didn't jam it in far enough to let it catch and I was afraid of breaking it. Since I was resigned to replace the faucet if I couldn't get this to work, I figured I'd be rougher with it. Problem solved. I felt dumb for not figuring it out myself, but I appreciate the great service and help from this faucet shop! Note to others: if you're unscrewing the sprayer on a gooseneck faucet, don't let the hose retract. read more

Had a great experience getting fittings for a very old American Standard toilet flush valve assembly. A replacement for a leaky seal that a plumber told me was unavailable and that I'd been searching for online without luck turned out to be in stock within a few miles of my home at North Shore Faucets. *** updated review 12/22/23- I'm sad to have to update this review. Our first experience with Aaron was such a good one. Unfortunately the product we purchased was faulty. We didn't have time to return all the way to Morton Grove and we had to purchase something else locally and unfortunately not in the style we would have liked due to time. We brought the product back to Northsore and explained it was faulty. We were charged a re-stock fee, which would be ok if we just changed our minds. It cost us $40, plus our time to and from and the gas to get a whole lot of nothing from Northsore. I had hoped to get our supplies from this store for our master bath remodel coming up, but I will not give my business to this store again. Beware. Original review - We just had a great experience at NorthShore Faucets! We walked in 20 minutes to close not knowing what we wanted or needed. Aaron took the time to patiently explain the complexity of valve and trim options for a new shower system we are having installed tomorrow. Who knew it was so complicated?! We needed to replace the faucets for two sinks in our master bathroom. I went to North Shore Faucets because I had bought some very-nice faucets for our previous home's main bathroom. The price had been reasonable for high-quality, good-looking products. Also, every time I've been in the shop over many years, I've seen plumbers buy plumbing parts and supplies there. The shop is conveniently located on Dempster Street and offers adjacent parking spots. The simple, functional building has a ton of inventory. Your $ is not wasted on window dressing. The owner, Aaron, bought the store from the prior people and stocks even more parts. There aren't dozens of faucets on display but Aaron & crew can show you many options, both online and in catalogues. Aaron was very helpful...listened to what I wanted and didn't want; and, took ample time to show me a few options. When I asked him about quality/longevity, he shared his top choice and the reasons why. He also was fine with my looking around on my own, at other options. He answered my questions about various manufacturers, and knew where products and parts are made (i.e., ease of getting parts, if ever needed). He also employs a few Ukrainians, which is very nice, given that their country has been invaded. A Ukrainian woman at the front register, for example, was knowledgeable and personable. I had a drippy faucet and needed a couple of washers to make the repair. I decided to try North Shore Faucets as I wanted an expert parts person to provide me with the correct parts and minimize the hassle. I knew if I went to a Home Depot or Menard's, I was on my own. On a weekday morning, there were several customers already being helped by the two women running the parts department. When it came to my turn, I showed the employee the faucet valve assembly with the washer still installed. I'm not sure what the problem was, but the employee was rude, curt and didn't instill confidence that she would provide me with the correct parts. The two employees discussed the situation and I sensed they didn't want to bother with my small purchase when other customers were waiting. They asked me questions I think should have been obvious to anyone in the faucet parts business. Eventually, they handed me two washers and said here you go. I waited about 10-minutes before being rung up while they were addressing other customers. I wasn't confident I had the correct parts, but much to my surprise the new washers worked perfectly--no more drippy faucet. I'll think twice before returning as I'd like to find a knowledgeable AND friendly parts supplier. read more

Third time I've been in and they always give great advice and expertise on what I need done. Today was replacing the bathroom sink flange and stem. The plumber on staff pointed out a crack in the j pipe that was already oozing and saved me a bigger leak later. I am so disappointed in this business. My husband purchased 4 showers and 1 faucet for the kitchen sink. They coordinated the install w a plumber ASAP MECHANICS. Paul came to install the faucets and then only installed the sink. He said that he didn't have the correct extra parts for the 4 showers. I would have thought they knew all this before coming...since the store scheduled the instal. There is a lack of communication. Anyway- the plumber Paul said that he didn't have enough time to buy the parts and return. We were rescheduled for 2 weeks later. Again- our schedules were cleared (I work as a doctor so this is not easy). We had our children waiting for almost hours and no plumber l. I emailed him and called. Finally he says that the plumber had a "family emergency" ...and that he was supposed to reschedule us. Funny how this occurred on dec 23 just before the holidays. To top it off- he would not be available until after the new year! It is going tot air 2 months from the time of purchase before the install. Of course we cancelled the order and now need to find another . If you don't mind waiting all day and being rescheduled multiple times- then use this business. Otherwise I would purchase from another store in the future. There is no regard for ones time. I can't believe that he didn't even bother calling to let us know that the plumber could not come today. Terrible customer service which is why I give this business 1 star. There are plenty of other faucet stores nearby. The lack of consideration of another's time is atrocious. He didn't even bother to notify me that the plumber was not coming until I emailed and called to find out what happened after waiting 2.5 hours read more

One of my faucet cartridges needed to be replaced. North Shore Faucets was recommended to me by a handyman. I came in with the cartridge that needed to be replaced. Aaron was able to easily locate both the hot and cold water replacement parts. This is important because there are apparently many variations of a Kohler cartridge, and some places may not carry the exact match. He mentioned that if a part was not in-stock that his store would locate and purchase the parts. He also took the time to show me step-by-step how to install the faucet cartridges, and was patient while doing so. I greatly appreciated the service! read more

My faucet was leaking and the company left the US market years ago and parts are unavailable. He helped me find a way to fix the problem using other manufacturer's washers and some plumbing tape. Great prices, advice and customer service. First time I tried going to a neighborhood supplier of plumbing versus the Internet or Home Dept. Wow! Great experience that I will always remember. Reminds me what customer service is and neighborhood business. Sure I could have perhaps save $3 by ordering online but I would have been lost as I am not a plumber. Keep in mind that the $3 savings would have meant that I ordered the right parts because I got it right with NS Faucets help. I doubt I would have figured it out without their assistance as it was complicated. So not only did I get it right but I was able to call them for help when I became stuck. The over the phone advice helped me through the problems and I was successful in getting my plumbing project completed with one trip to the store. Easy parking and fast & friendly service. One of my faucets was leaking and needed a ceramic cartridge replacement. I went to ACE, Lowes, Home Depot in my area and everyone referred me to Northshore Faucets. The lady and the old man at the counter were extremely helpful. I didn't have the brand name information so they went through several catalogs and finally found the replacement cartridge. They quoted $50 for the cartridge and I reluctantly placed the order. I told them that $50 seems little high and they told me that ceramic cartridges are expensive. I went home and did some research to find out that the same cartridge is available for $30-35 with shipping. In my opinion this place is extremely overpriced. Take your challenges to them since they are unique and knowledgeable but know that you will overpay for the products you will buy form them.
