Worst customer service from the lumber area/construction area. 3 men employees in this area - 1 helping customers, 1 taking a break and another doing paperwork/computer work (Brad). I have banned this place a couple times in the past but this time I won't go back. Placed a 'special order' and waited a week for delivery, what shows up, an off the shelf item I could have picked up in the store. Menards is a 'Department Store' that also sells building materials for anything but a 2"x4" save yourself the aggravation and go to Home Depot. read more

As a long time Menards customer I have to say I am never ever shopping there again. No matter how much you might save if you ever have a customer service problem it is just not worth it. Better quality, equal value in pricing, and real customer service opt for Lowes. If you want to know exactly how bad these guys are read the reviews from corporate. They really suck. Even a personal letter to the president John Menard did not help. TERRIBLE Service, TERRIBLE Company. I say this as a customer that spends on average well over $9,000 a year. Had a pleasant surprise at Menard's today. I'm an old coot and getting weaker by the day (50 synthetic parts). I was shopping for a small bench or something to mount a photo enlarger on. I found what I wanted but the box was way back under a shelf and pretty heavy. Two young employees came over, got the box out and found me a cart to haul it with. At the checkout, the lady called somebody to help me to the car and he appeared instantly and helped me lift it in..Excellent service.. read more

Okay. So a Facebook friend made me think twice about this place when he commented on my Tiki Torch pic that Menard's is fighting to keep the unions out and blah blah blah. Don't get me wrong. I am pro union and pro worker's rights, but I'm also anti politics. I hate politics and I hate it even more when it spills all over my Facebook fun. So on to the store itself. It's large. Organized. It has a lot of options when it comes to the products. Quality has never been a question with the things I have purchased there. Lastly everyone has been more than helpful every time i need assistance. So yeah. I will be back there. After all. They have pretty much everything, but because it takes me forever to find it myself, normally a simple trip is at least an hour. It'd be faster if you could ever find an employee to help you, but they must all be shy. Went there on the 4 th of July !!! They were steady but not busy!!!! Never had any problems uNtil today !!!! We go there at less one a week !!!! We love Menards but today was so terrible !!!!! The cashier was so rude and her lack of Customer service skills when the register froze and I had to wait an extra 25 minutes to check out she caught a manager she caught a supervisor and out of all three people I don't even GET IM SORry thank you fir For being patient or an Apology my total checkout experience was like 40 minute sorry for the inconvenience nothing I was patient today and patient not even a thank you afterwards or nothing !!!! Although the staff can be helpful when buying at Menards, the quality of their products leaves something to be desired. If you choose to shop here, save every receipt for the life of the product's warranty - even if it's a Menards branded product not sold anywhere else - at some point you WILL be returning defective merchandise to this company. Expect to be treated like a criminal when you are in for returns, and if you do come out ahead it wont be without a snide "I'll do it for you THIS TIME, but just THIS TIME". All in all, I recommend shopping elsewhere... at least then you wont have to listen to their podunk themed commercials every 10 minutes at an Ace or Home Depot. read more

Awful customer service and overall check out experience. They rush you at the registers and are often times cranky when assisting.

Bad service, staff is not very knowledgable about there department nor do they know the products they sell.

They carry alot of everything but it is all made in Chine and cheap junk. Everything they sell is so low quality. The appliance line of small appliances is stuff you never heard of. I would rather go to a hardware store that has name brand tools and quality merchandise. Dont expect to find merchandise when they run their pizza promo-I think the freezer holds 20 pizzas. This year the garden center really was bad plants looked half dead. Rebates take forever! read more

Can I give Negative stars????? I built a wrap around deck using Menards crap treated deck boards, (DO NOT USE) my deck is 90 ft total and all these crap boards have shrunk like crazy breaking screws and looks terrible . I will never buy here again and advise everyone else to not either. spend a bit more at your local dealer for better quality. Menards sells junk sopping wet treated bark wood. There is nothing even close to lumber in a treated board 16 ft long that weighs 5 lbs. read more

Apple Pay is not accepted here but does work at Home Depot, Walgreens, Trader Joes, Whole Foods, and many other stores.

5 employees stood by me at service desk not one asked me if I needed help finally I said something I ask for management, manager sent someone who could not help me, will not go back to this store very lazy people and worthless. read more

I recently had a horrible experience at this store. I was working to renovate my duplex in West Milwaukee and was shopping for a new ktichen. I spent nearly an hour working with a very helpful rep to order new cabinets which totaled in excess of $3K. I also was placing an order for new carpeting. I went to check out only to realize that the credit card I was going to use was expired. I was going to write a check, but they needed to verify funds and since I was not able to transfer funds, they declined my check. Fine, that was my mistake. I went home and came back a half hour later with my new valid, active credit card. I was told by the cashier that I was not going to be able to make the purchase because the transaction was "suspicious." Speaking with the manger lead to the same message. I was made to feel like a criminal trying to pull a scam. Completely embarrasssed and beyond pissed, I left the store. I provided valid ID and a valid form of payment but was refused when trying to make a $4K purchase. I will never set foot in this store again. I went to the Menards in West Allis and was able to order the cabinets. With the help of the rep at this store, we corrected a design flaw made b the rep in West Milwaukee. I paid with the same credit card and was given no hassle at all. If you are planning to shop Menards, and plan on a big purchase, avoid the West Milwaukee store. It is worth the extra 10 minute drive to avoid this store at all cost. read more

My husband stopped in to Menards today to purchase everything necessary to build a custom shelving in his closet. He gathered what he knew he needed and stood by the custom shelving area (which is coincidentally right next to the restrooms). Many employees walked right past him on their way to the restroom, no one acknowledged him or asked if he needed any assistance. He finally stopped someone and asked if they could help him and the male employee sighed and said "let me find somebody". No one ever came. So my husband left over $300 of merchandise (and that was only what he knew he needed, there was much more to be picked out) sitting there because he could not seem to get simple customer service. I would urge the management at Menards to be careful in their hiring of staff and observation of the ones they have, because they are driving good customers right out the door. We will go to Lowe's from now on, because even though it is more expensive, their employees are always attentive and courteous. read more
