We ordered beer, the cucumber jalapeño margarita and lemonade with vodka, and soda. Holy Cow don't underestimate the size of the margarita. It clearly had to be shared. And even then there was some left over. Our table ordered a couple of single orders of steak and chicken fajitas ($10) as well as the Carne Asada ($14), tacos, and guacamole. The chips and salsa tied us over until the food arrived. The chicken and the steak were cooked exactly if they needed to be for the fajitas, the carne asada was tasty and filling, and the beans and rice were delicious. It was clear that people were enjoying their meals here and when there was one mixup it was corrected very quickly. This was our second time here. If you want a place where the food is reliably tasty, the service is, and the prices are very reasonable -- this is an ideal option in McAlester.

Montrose, CO is a kicking town - lots of traffic, people on the move, it was a pretty warm day in early July. This cafe is downtown right off the main drag with a corner location. At the time of our visit there was quite a bit of street and sidewalk renovation going on. Reviews sounded pretty good for the place, so we parked and walked on over. Greeted and told to sit anywhere. The lunch crowd was coming in and the place was starting to fill up with what looked to be workers from local businesses as well as family groups and friends meeting up. We placed our orders and sat around watching the people and talking. Husband ordered a quesadilla, and I ordered a torta. i must admit the torta was smaller than i expected and I could tell the waitress thought i'd made a mistake by not ordering more for lunch ... i agreed at first. I ate the torta, there was pico de gallo and such to go along with it. The husband passed me a slice of his quesadilla (it was good) and surprisingly it was all enough. Nice. Went to the bathroom (there's 2) and it was clean and nice sized. Paid the bill, walked on out.

By far the best I have had in a long time. It will always be our new stop on the way between Fort Smith and DFW. I don't even leave reviews on things like this but I was just super excited to finally find something worth eating in McAlester (and open on a Sunday evening no less!). PS. My son had the Al Pastor tacos and said it was the best Al Pastor he has ever had.

Went with the Grilled Italian Sausage because pasta on top of pasta is just wrong. Grilled perfectly with a char on the ends! Really good flavor and pairs really well with the sketti/rav mixture. Meatballs cooked right with plenty of sauce. Definite leftover but why be greedy and ask for seconds just to take it home. Single person serving was way more than enough. Then again when my waiter brings extra meatballs and ravioli I am in heaven! Thought about dessert which is a toss up between the Cannoli and the Chocolate Devine. Think perhaps the Italian Creme Cake though. Italian Creme Cake to Go

Years ago, the food was amazing all handmade. Our family had been coming here from years ago. Bill preacher gave my uncle his rosary and told him I am not giving this to you. You were to bring it back and that's one of the first things My uncle did when he came back from World War II . Bill and Betty are no longer there and things have changed, of course because time has changed. However, it was wonderful coming back to reminisce with one of my dearest friends that remembers all the old times before the big remodel. As a matter of fact, my uncle was privileged to get to Cook spaghetti with Bill and my uncle taught us how to do it like they did years ago. As far as our visit today there the waitress was very friendly, but she knew nothing about the history of Petes. When we were checked out, it was the same thing. They were very friendly, but they knew nothing about the history of the place, which is a little sad to me. They have a lot of the memorabilia on the walls, but none of their staff we met knew anything about the history. We did have some food we wanted to take to go. They brought us to go containers however, again back in the day they would have packaged it up for us. I wish this new Petes lots of luck and lots of business. I do wish it was back like it was : same old recipes and learn the history because there was great people years ago that founded this place.
