On February 2021 I took my son to this office as it had good reviews and we were looking for a new dentist as we had just moved to the area. At the appointment, everything went well. They took good care of my son and advised me of what could be done for his front teeth as well they did a cleaning and took x-rays. I was informed that my son's teeth were ok, as every kid he needed to brush better and floss. They informed us that he had 1 surface cavity however it did not need treatment for now. It would be reevaluated at the next appointment. Unfortunately due to scheduling, that appointment got changed several times. In the mean time, my son's mother, decided she wanted to take him to the dentist in her area. At that moment, I called MKD to remind my self what needed to be done and when was his next appointment. I was told the same exact tratement needed to be done as I was told when I went in February. A day later, moms dentist sent MKD a cavity release form as they were going to put braces on my son to fix his front teeth. MKD had quoted me for the same service back in February. They advised moms dentist that my son still had pending treatment and they could not sign the form. At that moment, I called again to MKD just to verify treatment and get it in writing to my email so that I can forward it to moms dentist. That email never came. Today moms dentist was able to get ahold of MKD to get more information on what my son needed and to see if the braces would interfere. Anisa informed moms dentist that my son needed 3 or 4 root canals and 5 fillings...let it be known, my son is 7 and his teeth are no where near that bad. This was never told to me at his February appointment, wasn't told to me when I called 2 times after the appointment. Now all of a sudden that another dentist is going to perform work that MKD quoted me on, my son's teeth have magically decayed and need the same work a 40 year old who has smoked all his life and brush his teeth twice would need. Interesting how this wasn't told to us when we went but now magically appear. This is pretty frustrating, concerning and quite disappointing as I really liked this dentist, unfortunately this caused me to cancel my future appointments with them as well as leave this review. MKD informed me that this was the doctors notes from back in February but yet can't provide me the copy of the paperwork I signed back then or can't explain as to why I was not told about these treatments back in February. read more

This place is very clean and wait time was no more than 10 min with appointment. I was surprised how soon we were able to be seen as to setting an appointment 24 hours prior to coming in... as a family of 4! Anyways, I have never met soooo many friendly people in my life! Every staff here is so sweet, patient, yet still professional. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone and their mommas lol seriously because 5 steps to the right is the orthodontist office and another 5 steps is the dental office for adults!! We love it here and prices with insurance is great! The kids also came home with tooth brushes, tooth pastes, balloons, stickers, and their certificates for no cavities! So cute! read more

Parent beware terrible experience. My son went in for x-rays and it hurt him at a previous appointment so today he was a bit hesitant but got through it within 2 minutes. When I came home I saw all future appointments will be billed with a 210.00 $ fee for behavior management. This is outrageous to put my child in this category for being hesitant he is 5. The normal wait to get questions Answered is one hour on hold. I was told it was imperative that we got him on medication. We waited all day at the pharmacy and the office eventually got around to calling it in 7 hours later. Front office has terrible customer service and the dentist does not listen she wanted to pull a tooth out for a cavity. I have seen other reviewers stating negligence and I can see it. Please go elsewhere. Dr Chappell maybe try pediatric psychology if you would like to diagnose behavioral disorders. Update Took my son to Young Smiles in Temecula got him very quickly. They are very friendly and pick up the phone on the first ring. This dentist only saw two cavities and one extraction, Dr Chappell wanted two extractions, crowns and 4 cavities. I really don't like to leave negative reviews, but unfortunately I have an experience that I hear far too often from dental offices and this place is no exception. While I did like how they handled my daughter, I'm sad to admit they are dishonest about the work that needs to be done. The treatment plan was full of excessive procedures my daughter did NOT need! I got a trusted second opinion from a family member who is a dentist out of state and I get making ONE mistake, but this dentist wanted to EXTRACT two of my daughters teeth and do a total of 4 pulpotomies, when a filling could have been done Instead! Sadly, many dentists rely on our ignorance to charge for procedures that cost more than just a simple filling. The dentist also immediately recommended sedating my daughter and outsourcing anesthetist, that of COURSE, did not take insuranfr! I was not given an option and was told this would be best for my daughter. I understand in some scenarios this could be a good idea, but my daughter handled the appointment great. Offering an option would have been the best way to go about it rather than suggesting it as the only option! I feel for so many parents that don't know better and subject their children to unnecessary dental procedures! I recommend second opinions before proceeding here! read more

I will say that the hygienist and doctor all made my son feel comfortable so he has no hesitation going to the dentist. He had a long list on his treatment plan, I did question the amount of work recommended and had planned to seek a second opinion anyways. recently my son was seen for an urgent tooth pain situation at MKD and when I was sent home with the upcoming bill for treatment they added an out of pocket fee of $210 for "behavior management" ( he had no behavior issues in office, only minor tears of discomfort but no resistance) When we called the office to request an explanation of the fee, we were told it's at the discretion of the doctor to add that charge or not onto the bill. Long story short, 2 days later I decided to have my son seen at a different dentist office and I am SHOCKED at what his new treatment plan consists of. At MKD they wanted to fill my sons mouth up with fillings (approx 4), 1 extraction and 2 crowns. The new dentist only sees 3 cavities and 1 extraction. Let's also note the horrendous wait times to get through on the phone at MKD. My last wait time was 36 minutes. I was fooled by their friendliness, but what a scam of a business model. I asked around and no one has ever heard of a cash fee for behavior management. This is a pediatric medical service, you shouldn't be on the hook for a cash fine for a small child having tears when in pain or scared. read more

I recently took my daughter here, after being referred from my dentist. I was very hesitant after the previous dentist told me they had to sedate my daughter... but Dr. Andi took the time to get to know my child & talk with her & made her feel super comfortable. She explained what procedure she had to do for my daughter in a way that made it less scary & still able to understand! The staff is awesome! Danielle is superb! She explained everything to me as my daughter had to be put on laughing gas, she listened to all my questions and answered them professionally but in a caring matter! Roxane in the front is by far one of the best dental receptionists I have ever come across. Took time to explain the change/differences in the insurance we have & check into it if we were to change it. We have been coming to this dentist for a couple of months, my daughter had cavities and I wasn't surprised, she has a sweet tooth and to be honest I fell off of being as strict on teeth brushing as I should have. She was scheduled for fillings, root canals, crowns and an extraction. The day came and I was a mess. She had to be sedated to have all the necessary work done at once. First off, the front office staff is wonderful. Not only were they extremely polite, but were also giving me updates on my daughter every 15 minutes. The dentist, assistant and anesthesiologist were all so patient and sweet it gave me some consolation to know she was in good hands. In about 2 hours they got all the work that would have taken multiple visits with general anesthesia done. I expected a long recovery, a painful one and difficulty returning to normalcy for my daughter but what I got was the opposite. She took about an hour to fully be herself again and for all the numbing to have worn off. Aside from the fact that she felt the crowns and extraction site with her tongue in her mouth, she did not complain once about any pain or discomfort. Anesthesiologist instructed that she was given Motrin prior to departing the office and that if need be the next dose should not be given until 8pm tonight. It is 10pm and she has still not complained about pain once. The wonderful anesthesiologist called prior to the apt to answer all my Qs and give me the preop care. She also talked me through everything patiently while I was there. Lastly, she called to check in on my daughter tonight and make sure all was good. All in all. For an experience as unwanted as dental work. This has to be one of the most professional, easiest, best experiences our family has ever had. I recommend this extraordinary team to any parent who has a child in need of dental treatment. Truly unmatched service and care. read more

My daughter's appointment was at 2:30pm and she wasn't called back until after 3:30pm. The waiting room was full and I had to stand almost the entire hour. Once we got called back I was impressed with the dental assistant and the pediatric dentist. They were very friendly and made my 5 year old comfortable. I would give 5 stars if it weren't for the long wait. The woman at the front said she would call me the next afternoon to go over our insurance and schedule a follow up. I set an appointment for my 8 year old and 1 year old for the same time and dentist because our regular dentist had referred us there for the kids. I had to take my other two very young children (2 and 5) with us. They originally told me none of the kids could come back as they called my youngest back but I am not going to leave my kids in the waiting room without me. They finally said we could all go back and they would give us the biggest room. They saw my one year old then asked if we could go back to the waiting room. I thought they meant all of us. They wanted my other son to stay but he is very uncomfortable at the dentist and kept making sure I was going to stay with him before we even got there. I told them he had asked me to stay and I asked him in front of them if he was okay with that. The front desk receptionist then told me it's their policy and that no kids are allowed in there even though I've brought them all before. She said it's a new policy and we would need to go wait in the waiting room. At this point my son is crying and didn't want me to leave as he had said. I told her he was visibly upset and didn't feel comfortable with me leaving. She then said he was crying cause I asked in front of them if he wanted me to stay. I attempted to tell her that my son had asked me prior to coming to stay with him and is uncomfortable and she cut me off raising her voice saying I was being hostile and kept saying that repeatedly and that I was going to have to leave if I basically said anything at all and I am a very rational person. I wasn't yelling or talking rudely I simple was saying my son felt uncomfortable but I just stopped talking cause there would have been no point in reasoning with her with how she was acting. The dentist said we could all stay so we went back to the room so he could be seen but I felt very uncomfortable staying so I called our regular dentist and they gave us another referral for the kids for a different dentist office and apologized for the horrible experience so we ended up leaving before he was even seen. The rudeness and lack of respect I felt as a parent was like nothing I've ever experienced. They shouldn't have let me even book the appointments together at the same time if that was their policy or they should have said something prior to my appointment. A dentist office shouldn't be speaking like that to anyone especially about someone else's own children. My son thanked me in the car for not leaving him because he didn't want me to leave and said no one was listening to him saying no. My son was terrified I was going to leave him there by himself with what the receptionist was saying. I will never take my children here again. read more

I love the dentists and dental assistants. They are GREAT with kids. My 4-year-old is terrified of the dentist and they knew how to work with her without getting frustrated. The facility is clean. There is a wait with every appointment. Their billing department has made a few errors (billed me almost $900 when my insurance pays in full) and their customer service lacks. It is hard to reach them, called their emergency line to be on hold for 30 minutes, and when they promised a call back it never happened. I called to find out when I would get the call back for my daughters oral surgery because the pain is now getting unbearable. I was given the "COVID closure" excuse, however, this call back was supposed to happen well before the closures. I wish their staff was just more professional and "with it." I finally got a hold of someone and asked questions only to be dismissed and hung up on. read more

Dr. Olga Alvarado did soooo amazing with our sweet girl! We were nervous for our 2.5 yr old to get a filling, but the dr did great with her from the start by trying to engage with her and having a conversation as well as showing her how the tools work before even asking her to open her mouth. When our little started to have a hard time the dr let her take a break for some snuggles and then was able to finish quickly and efficiently despite the struggle! She was gentle and so patient with our daughter and also with me! Her explanations and advice were welcome and done in a kind manner. I visited the office for the first time because I believed my son had 1 or 2 cavities. I was extremely nervous because it was my sons first dentist appointment and I thought he would be stubborn and uncooperative. Everyone there was so amazingly sweet, patient, and comforting to not only my son, but to me as well (I shed a few tears from being nervous). The dentist (I believe her name was dr. Chavez?) confirmed he had 2 cavities and they were able to assist me in making sure I was financially comfortable with the treatment options. The dentist explained everything amazingly every step of the way and was able to treat his cavities the same day. They overheard me tell my son we would go get him a balloon for being so good, and they happened to have balloons in the office so they gave him one! This appointment went 1000% better then I ever could've hoped for and I am SO grateful for the entire staff and team. Thank you so much for taking such great care of both of us yesterday.
