We received little to no assistance and were simply directed to a rack of suits that were all the same size. When we asked if there were other options for sizes, we were told that was all they had available for rentals, or that we could look into purchasing a suit instead. We booked this appointment in advance and from confirming beforehand that we would expect there would be options available, especially after confirming rental availability beforehand. Yes: I definitely like the way I look! :) Yesterday I bought a suit, vest, shoes, shirt, and handkerchief. But the lady who serviced us was not knowledgeable. Too reserved. Didn't offer advice. Surprising for a sales professional. Her colleague assisted and was better. He did the measurements. He sold me 2 suits last year. Clearly a cut above the rest of the staff. To be fair, they accelerated the tailoring. I picked up my altered suit today. No issues. But nobody today could properly knot my 2 ties. Youtube here I come. Get a better in house tailor. It makes a big difference on tailoring services. Better training for those pinning up so tailor can do the job right the first time without rework. Clearly communicate the tailoring service you are offering before botching the outfit and use that as an excuse for poor workmanship. What they assume is that I don't have experience tailoring suits and dresses. I use to tailor suits and dresses for execs and VPs for special events. They have a good size clearance/sale section to the right side of the store when you walk in. The staff were helpful and attentive. They are able to measure neck, shoulder, chest, etc to know what size to look for. When buying a suit, they give you a suit bag to put it in. They also have tailoring services here. I liked that they had different styles of button up dress shirts. Nowadays the slim fit is what's in style, but they had the classic styles too. We visited another tailoring store the day before and left feeling uneasy, unwelcome and not so confident. It's a horrible feeling. We are pacific islanders, and we know we run bigger than the average joe. So finding the right kind of people who help and care is hard to find. We were nervous walking in to the Colma location feeling very unsure whether we would get the help we needed. We were acknowledged immediately when we walked in so I was hopeful we'd be able to quickly lock down a dinner jacket and slacks for my son's homecoming dance. We were handed off to a dour salesperson who gave us the choice of two dinner jackets in this weird paisley-like pattern in muddy grey and muddy navy. I was quickly quoted a "package" of $260 or $290, the price for a rental so eye watering my brain shut down. Plus $25 for late ordering since the event is this weekend. Not negotiable, don't ask! I was tugging information out of the glum salesperson so I asked for a manager. I got a fast-talking, seemingly highly caffeinated manager who started gesturing excitedly that it might be better to BUY the dinner jacket, it's like $79 .. oh look, this one's $58!" And the jacket looked so sad and overworn, like it'd been drycleaned, rained upon and sweated in too many times. I decided a suit from Macy's would be a better option than a $300+ RENTAL from Men's Wearhouse. This is not the same store as when it was headed by George Zimmer, not even close. Got a suit custom fit here and it took 3 rounds of alterations and they still didn't get it right. Clearly just did not make alterations after they were discussed multiple times. Staff was difficult to work with and did not really seem to care. If you're going to spend $700+ on a suit, buy it somewhere else and get it altered by a real tailor. read more

So I went to the location in San Mateo although it's much farther away from me but had a much better experience. I was helped by a very friendly salesperson named Maracar. She got me set up and fitted with no problems. I understood why you do the scanning of the barcode but it's useless. It's not often that I wear a suit these days. Recently, the occasions to wear one have become more often, thankfully for celebratory events. After learning that my suit was damaged at home, I was looking for a convenient time to get a replacement. Remembering that I got my last suits at the SF Men's Warehouse when it was on Stockton Street. It apparently moved about a block away and, given the environment since 2020, shopping downtown requires keeping my head on a swivel from unsavory characters in the area. This led me to finding this store which has a free parking lot and is still within twenty minutes from home. Coming here on a Monday in early April, I was surprised to see a pretty number of people in this good-sized store. Most of the potential customers were to the left where there were two counters or podiums; I walked up and asked a gentleman to go in wanting to purchase a new suit. He walked me to the right side of the store where a lady was helping a customer with a couple of people also waiting to speak with her. Waiting my turn, I told her about my situation. We confirmed that my solution was to get a new suit so she walked me to the front left section of the store and showed me what was available. After looking at the colors and styles available, I tried the jacket to check the fitting and, when deciding on the color and style, I brought the pants with me when she walked me to the dressing rooms in the back portion of the store. After trying them on, another lady measured my legs, arms, and sides to determine how much to take in or let out. The sales lady Regina then wrote up my order and told me to return at the end of the month. As I expected, prices have increased over the years but I didn't have sticker shock. As I observed other customers, young and old, my light bulb lit up in recalling it's almost prom season. And with graduations, weddings, and other formal events in full season, I also remembered that they do rentals too. I was surprised to see young ladies getting fitted for gowns given the business name. After calling the store and talking with a floor person, he was sympathetic to the poor service we received, however we were not feeling their sincerity. We let them know were were will to discuss with the Store Manager, but the call was never transferred to them, nor did we ever get a call back. Because of this we drove down to the San Mateo location and received the best service I have ever experienced from Mario. We ended up purchasing a suit, shoes and accessories from him. The "Assistant Manager" on duty today at 11:30am on October 11, 2025 was being very unprofessional in servicing me today and I have been coming here for years and spending good money on a consistent basis. When I got in the assistant manager was helping me on the more pricier suits and said he can have it tailored by this coming Friday. The minute I shifted my attention towards the clearance suits he stopped servicing me properly, was getting distracted, stopped helping me look for my sizes and said it would "Now take 3 weeks to get my clothes tailored" since it was a clearance product. This is some of the worst customer service I've ever received from any business. His staff were working hard, being polite and professional, but the assistant manager was the total opposite which I would never have expected coming from that location that I've been a loyal customer in for years. The guy has no business being an assistant manager with service like that. I am writing this review on behalf of my dad, since he cannot write it himself. I am extremely disappointed with my dad's experience. His suit was basically a crime scene! There were visible pee stains or even worse semen stains on the crotch area, blood on the collar of shirt like someone cut themselves while shaving and a wrinkled jacket. Completely unacceptable! This is after reserving his suit months in advance, somehow we still end up scrambling day before the wedding. They had to order a new suit to be delivered the day before the wedding. First time using Men's Wearhouse in my whole life. Before coming here, I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant and skeptical to place my friend's big day in the hands of MW. I've heard stories of how they messed up other customer's suit rentals, and the fact that this company went bankrupt or got sold not too long ago. I came here to get fitted for a suit rental for my best friend's wedding in another state. I had a great experience at this MW location in Colma. The staff member that took care of me was professional and patient. I'm glad everything worked out. The suit and pants fit great and it looked great in all my friend's wedding photos. What the heck happened to this place? I was a funeral director for a quarter of a century and always bought my suits at Men's Wearhouse, often at the Colma location. There was always a nice selection of fabrics, styles, and sizes. Even though I'm an odd sized person (okay, I'm fat), I could always find a nice suit to add to my collection. I still have more than a dozen suits that I purchased from the Men's Wearhouse in the early 2000s, and they still look great. I retired from the funeral business four years ago, but was recently offered a position that made me want to come out of retirement. I decided to buy a new suit to mark the occasion, and went to the Men's Wearhouse in Colma. I was shocked to see how this place had gone downhill. Pretty much everything on offer were "separates" rather than suits made from the same bolt of cloth. The fabrics seemed to be of lesser quality than in the past, and the selection was woefully inadequate. The staff was rushing around trying to help everyone; all but one seemed to have been properly trained to advise someone who wanted to be a well-dressed man. The focus seemed to be on what they had on the rack that might be a close enough fit to make the sale. I was honestly flabergasted at the depths to which this place had plunged. I purchased a suit and brought it to my long-time tailor for alterations, He examined the suit, and without knowing where I had purchased it said, "I'll do what I can, but these Men's Wearhouse suits are just garbage these days." He recommended purchasing an online, made-to-measure suit next time. He said that for less money I could get a much better suit. I suppose I should be grateful that I was able to find good suits at a reasonable price for so many years at the Men's Wearhouse, but that lucky streak seems to have come to an end. It's too bad. The employees are very helpful and professional. When you walk into the store, you have to check-in by scanning the QR code on the in-store sign so that nobody can cut in front of you. I was there to rent tux for my son's prom, and everything went smoothly. The employee got all the measurements and suggested getting the package because it was a better deal. The prices were very reasonable and competitive. There were plenty of choices for the types of tuxedos. It was a very busy store, but she wasn't rushing us or pressuring us to go for any upsells. They do charge a $12 non-refundable cleaning fee, but that was disclosed at the beginning of the process. read more

Absolutely unacceptable the way my fiance and I were treated on 1/14/25 around 8 pm by the manager Sani Tongol. Back story: my African American fiance and I were attending my cousin's wedding that weekend and we purchased a suit the day before on 1/13 at the Emeryville location. Upon purchasing, the sales associate asked us how we want the receipt emailed or printed but immediately followed it up with, "We can look up the receipt by your phone number if you want to do any returns or exchanges," so we opted for it to be sent via email instead. 1/14/25 6pm-ish my fiance is waiting for me to get off work and goes to this location to look around. There was a younger female sales associate who was very sweet and helpful, let's call her "A." My fiance found something else there and wanted to do an exchange. He asked A if he can do the exchange, she looked up the receipt, found it and then he realized, I had the physical card with me because I purchased on our shared account. He asked A if she can do a store credit and initially she said, "yes, no problem" then Sani came out the back very adamant that he cannot get store credit. Confused and disappointed, he then realized she was racially profiling him, which I'm not sure why because he had a valid receipt. When he came to pick me up after work, he told me what happened and we went back to do the return...we walk in and both A and Sani were at the register. I told her we wanted to do a return, gave her the card and then asked her why my fiance couldn't get a store credit when he came here by himself first. She said, "We don't do store credits." Me: "Oh really that's odd, I could've sworn you guys do that. Your sales associate told him he could get one...." Sani: "She doesn't know!! I am the manager here." Completely deflected and blamed the poor sales associate A. So we left, because there was no point in going back and forth. The moment I got back to the car, I went online and looked up Men's Warehouse's in person return/exchange policy and of course, they do offer store credit; my fiance was well within the terms of a RETURN OR EXCHANGE (because he had a valid receipt from the night before) and yet he was simply asking for a store credit to move forward and still got denied. I am absolutely livid at this point due to the in person interaction we had but to throw more gas onto the fire, Sani LIED IN OUR FACES SAYING THEY DON'T DO STORE CREDITS. Was it because the name on the card was mine which raised a red flag? Sure I can get that, I worked retail before I became a nurse. But for her to blatantly lie to our faces just because she didn't want to take ownership and accountability for her misjudgment, I will not accept. As a Filipina-American, I'm really ashamed to have witnessed something so disgusting from my own people. My boyfriend and I arrived at 5pm on a Sunday night to get fitted for a wedding and we immediately got onto the waitlist via QR code. There were many associates walking around avoiding eye contact until we approached them after waiting for 15 minutes. We asked if someone could help us and was repeatedly told to put our names on the waiting list and someone could help us. We were also informed it would take 30 mins to get fitted and there would not be enough time even though it was still 5:15pm. They also kept repeating that we should come in the next day instead. Several associates are waiting around continuing while we were waiting. It was evident there would be time to get fitted and finished by the time they closed for the day. She hooked my son up with the perfect shirt for his prom! && she gave us some sizing tips. Now the rental situation is a whole different story, the customer service on that side can use some help. They sent my son in a fitting room with no clear instructions, my son wasn't sure what he was supposed to do: Was he trying on the jacket for sizing purposes only, or was he trying on the jacket he intended to rent? Naturally, when it came time to rent a formal outfit for our younger son, we automatically chose to go here again. Unfortunately, due to our latest visits on the evening of Monday, April 11, 2022, and the following week, we are likely to bring our business elsewhere going forward... Considering possible store hour changes due to Covid-19, my husband called the store prior to our arrival. We were told that at times, a line would be waiting outside due to limiting capacity. We were prepared to wait in queue outdoors, if necessary. At arrival, a line was already forming outside the front door. We were third in line. After waiting nearly an hour, as an associate opened the door to let a customer out, she informed everyone in line that, due to the time, they were going to accept only one more customer. Uh, what? I don't think so - I was not waiting in line for so long in the cold just to be turned away without warning. I asked to speak to the manager on duty who tried to stand her ground, but after I asked for her name, her supervisor's name, and the contact info for Customer Complaints, suddenly they changed their minds and decided to accept us. Service during the fitting seemed to be friendly, but my son felt that the girl who was taking his measurements (the same manager on duty) was a bit abrasive towards him. She did grant us an additional discount, likely due to the concern of my threat to call Corporate with negative feedback on our experience during that night. When we returned the following week on April 18, we were dismayed to find that the jacket sleeves were WAY too short. We sent it back to fix which took forever (They were so busy that they easily forgot about us)...and you could see the original shorter fold. The final outcome? After sending photos of the event to my dad, he commented on my son's suit by text, "They should've tailored it a bit to fit him good. They didn't do a good job tailoring and fitting it. I just want my grandsons to look good especially when dressing up. You know how particular I am when it comes to that...First of all, the pants inseam was off and the sleeves of the jacket were too short. I know they should show, but the sleeves were just too short..the length of the pants were way way too long for dress pants." Need I say more? Skip this place. After explaining our goal, this person took a single measurement (chest) of my kid, then showed us a blazer. He put it on, it didn't "look right" to our naive eyes, and we looked to the salesperson to help provide some feedback or guidance. Nothing. The emptiest expression this side of an Egyptian statue. No insight on where it fit well, where it didn't, how it could be adjusted, nothing. We then asked to try on a different brand. The salesperson provided one, though the size was 2" larger than my son't measurement, as it was the smallest in the color we initially suggested. It looked better, but again the salesperson provided ZERO feedback on why, how, and what the differences were from the first one. After looking at the two jackets, my kid had the VERY COMMON SENSE IDEA to simply try on a different color but more accurate size of the same brand. THIS IS COMMON RETAIL SENSE. A CHILD CAN DO IT. It resulted, of course, in a better understanding of how the jacket would look after its required alterations. It just got worse from there. I'll spare you the torture, but if any managers of this store end up reading this (or hopefully someone from corporate), my lord: 1. Do not let anyone loose on the floor who lacks as much knowledge as this person. 2. If the employees are this....low performing because they are stoned, fire their brand-damaging a$$e$ immediately. The financial impact of this kind of frustration is many multiples the cost of finding a replacement. 3. Teach a baseline of how a retail experience should go. This isn't a low margin business like....Target. These suits are clearly marked up, and the monopoly Men's Wearhouse has on certain brands clearly keeps them profitable. We went here several times to look at the selection, get a custom suit for my fiance, get the groomsmen fitted, and learn how to get the suits ordered. On one instance that we went, no one acknowledged us whatsoever and avoided eye contact. We ended up leaving after 10 minutes of browsing and no one to ring us up. On another day, they told the groomsmen they would not be able to get the suits and to try the San Mateo location when the bridal party lives in SF. That location was much more helpful. I was in my full bridezilla mode and was so tempted to call and complain, but the fiance handled it over the phone with Jordan. He wasn't working when our groomsmen were there. He questioned his coworkers to find out what had happened and helped clarify everything... which was attributed to his new coworkers not knowing their shiiiiiii. The only staff who consistently and continuously helped us was Jordan. He is very experienced, knowledgeable, and competent despite looking so young. He saved the day on so many of these instances. Went in recently to have the waist loosen on a pair of pants. I was greeted by a young man and he proceeded to "measure" me and said 4 inches. I told him no way! Another worker overheard me, came over and offered his assistance. The second guy measured 2 inches and the pants fitted perfectly when I picked it up weeks later. So buyer beware. read more
