    Consultation for Groom tuxedo
    Leahua P.

Sani! You've removed stress off of our wedding preparation and you don't even know it! We left your store with our hearts at ease. We visited another tailoring store the day before and left feeling uneasy, unwelcome and not so confident. It's a horrible feeling. We are pacific islanders, and we know we run bigger than the average joe. So finding the right kind of people who help and care is hard to find. We were nervous walking in to the Colma location feeling very unsure whether we would get the help we needed. The moment Sani (unsure if that's correct) called my fiancé's name, sat us down and immediately started the consultation, educated us and just allowing us to ask questions was definitely the kindness we needed in this process. Not only did he answer every question (dumb or not) he always gave suggestions and professional opinions on trends catered to what we were looking for. Well done! It is 10/10 for me with your customer service. Thank you Sani for treating us like how we were meant to be treated. Your kindness and hard-work relieved this Bride to be. Thanks again!

The salespeople are the road block

We were acknowledged immediately when we walked in so I was hopeful we'd be able to quickly lock down a dinner jacket and slacks for my son's homecoming dance. We were handed off to a dour salesperson who gave us the choice of two dinner jackets in this weird paisley-like pattern in muddy grey and muddy navy. I was quickly quoted a "package" of $260 or $290, the price for a rental so eye watering my brain shut down. Plus $25 for late ordering since the event is this weekend. Not negotiable, don't ask! I was tugging information out of the glum salesperson so I asked for a manager. I got a fast-talking, seemingly highly caffeinated manager who started gesturing excitedly that it might be better to BUY the dinner jacket, it's like $79 .. oh look, this one's $58!" And the jacket looked so sad and overworn, like it'd been drycleaned, rained upon and sweated in too many times. I decided a suit from Macy's would be a better option than a $300+ RENTAL from Men's Wearhouse. This is not the same store as when it was headed by George Zimmer, not even close. When he left, it sucked the lifeblood out of this once category leader. Sad. PS George Zimmer now runs Generation Tux. It's too late on our timeline to order but I'd start there.

It's not often that I wear a suit these days. Recently, the occasions to wear one have become more often, thankfully for celebratory events. After learning that my suit was damaged at home, I was looking for a convenient time to get a replacement. Remembering that I got my last suits at the SF Men's Warehouse when it was on Stockton Street. It apparently moved about a block away and, given the environment since 2020, shopping downtown requires keeping my head on a swivel from unsavory characters in the area. This led me to finding this store which has a free parking lot and is still within twenty minutes from home. Coming here on a Monday in early April, I was surprised to see a pretty number of people in this good-sized store. Most of the potential customers were to the left where there were two counters or podiums; I walked up and asked a gentleman to go in wanting to purchase a new suit. He walked me to the right side of the store where a lady was helping a customer with a couple of people also waiting to speak with her. Waiting my turn, I told her about my situation. We confirmed that my solution was to get a new suit so she walked me to the front left section of the store and showed me what was available. After looking at the colors and styles available, I tried the jacket to check the fitting and, when deciding on the color and style, I brought the pants with me when she walked me to the dressing rooms in the back portion of the store. After trying them on, another lady measured my legs, arms, and sides to determine how much to take in or let out. The sales lady Regina then wrote up my order and told me to return at the end of the month. As I expected, prices have increased over the years but I didn't have sticker shock. As I observed other customers, young and old, my light bulb lit up in recalling it's almost prom season. And with graduations, weddings, and other formal events in full season, I also remembered that they do rentals too. I was surprised to see young ladies getting fitted for gowns given the business name. Thank you, Men's Wearhouse, for making my quest seamless so far. *** Epilogue - Big thanks to the manager Sonny and Regina again for a smooth pickup of my suit. After trying it on and confirming the fit, I was in and out of the store within ten minutes. This includes buying an extra garment bag for my other suit at home.

Our wedding dress designer consultant was Virginia and she totally knew what she was doing!!! I loved the dress she picked, initially she picked 2 dresses and one of them ended up being THE dress. We booked an appointment well in advance, arrived on time, and somehow still ended up waiting 45 minutes before the fitting even began. Already, that was incredibly frustrating. When our stylist finally started helping us, we explained what we were looking for, but from the beginning, we never really felt like we were being heard. She didn't seem particularly knowledgeable about what to recommend based on what we were looking for. We came in expecting some level of expertise, someone who could walk us through different fits and options and help my dad find something that worked for him. Instead, it felt like we were largely figuring things out ourselves. Eventually, we landed on a suit my dad liked, and the stylist had him try on one of their sample suits in his size range as part of the made-to-measure process. Naturally, we understood that a try-on sample wasn't going to fit him perfectly. And there was one particular area where the fit was noticeably off, so we asked whether that was something that could be adjusted or tailored when making the final suit. She simply told us no. And then, rather than suggesting another size, another cut, a different suit, or literally doing anything you would expect from someone whose job is to help customers find a suit, she told us that if this wasn't working, then maybe we should just go somewhere else. We honestly could not believe what we were hearing. What kind of sales associate tells a customer to go shop somewhere else simply because the first suit they like doesn't fit properly? At a store specializing in suits and tailoring, no less? We weren't being difficult. We weren't demanding anything unreasonable. We were asking whether a suit could be altered, and instead of helping us find a solution, we were essentially told to take our business elsewhere. That alone would have been enough to make this an awful experience, but the lack of service continued throughout the appointment. When our fitting began, the stylist could barely give us the time of day. She was distracted helping another customer and repeatedly disappeared while we were supposed to be in the middle of our appointment. We were left standing around waiting for her to come back with no explanation and no idea where she had gone. And what makes me particularly upset is that this was my dad shopping for the suit he would wear to my wedding. My mom and I came with him because this was supposed to be a fun, memorable experience for the three of us. Instead, we spent the appointment waiting around, struggling to get anyone's attention, receiving almost no meaningful guidance, and then being told that perhaps we should just shop somewhere else. I've worked with and shopped at plenty of retailers, and I understand that stores get busy. I understand that associates sometimes have to juggle multiple customers. But there is a huge difference between being busy and making someone with a scheduled appointment feel like an inconvenience. If you're running 45 minutes behind, acknowledge it. If you need to step away to help another customer, communicate that. If a suit doesn't fit, use your expertise to recommend another option. You don't tell the customer to go somewhere else. The complete lack of care, attentiveness, professionalism, and basic hospitality was astounding. We walked in ready and willing to purchase a suit for one of the most important occasions in our family, and somehow SuitSupply managed to make us feel as though they couldn't care less whether we were there. So we took the stylist's advice: we went somewhere else. And after this experience, I have absolutely no desire to ever come back.
