Four of us used Groupons to try out the salt caves on a Wednesday at 5:30pm. We were joined by another group of 2. We were a few minutes late, but this did not cause an issue. Lockers are available for personal items, such as phones and keys. They give booties for over your shoes or socks and blankets as it can get cold. They also give a very warm energy ball, which can be used to roll against muscles. The gravity chairs have noise cancelling headphones that play the same sounds. Five minutes into the session, a narrator tells some facts about the salt and its purity. Crashing waves played throughout the session pretty loudly. My boyfriend fell asleep and you could hardly hear him snoring lol. It's somewhat funny after a while I licked my lips and didn't expect them to be salty. It's kind of a long 45 minutes as you're not supposed to talk. It caused all 4 of our party members to fall asleep, 2 for the entire session. It was a nice sleep, my boyfriend and I notice the respiratory affects, and we wouldn't mind making this a monthly/bi-monthly thing. read more

I went there with a groupon, but I am happy I found the place. It's in a shopping center, but don't let that deter you from a great experience. We went in and used the zero gravity chairs in the salt 'cave'. It's really a room that has a high amount of Himalayan salt on the ground and walls. Because of the high salt content, you are not advised to bring in your phone, watch or keys. Because of the salt content, it creates a great breathing environment if you are suffering from any sinus issues or asthma - I was told the air was hypo-bacterial and allergen free. You'll sit in the zero gravity chairs and they give you heated massage balls that you can rest on your back or any paint points. They also give you noise cancelling headphones with natural sounds. I wasn't sure what to expect even though I read their website information. My best friend wanted to go there for her birthday present, so we went. They have lockers for your belongings because you can't have electronics in the cave. You are given booties to cover your feet because the floor is covered in sand, like walking on the beach. It was a good experience: you're in the cave on a gravity chair, lights out looking up at a star-filled ceiling. A very fine mist of salt air is pumped into the air as you listen to calming noise. Went as a group with my esthetics class. They offered amazing group deals. The girls working here were absolutely kind and informative. They have lockers to keep your things locked up. You go into the salt cave with provided booties to cover your feet or over shoes. They have lovely comfy gravity chairs with heating pads on them to relax. Heated blankets are provided which I def utilized because it's cold in the cave. They also have a very neat heated salt ball which felt great to roll over muscles. The cave is aesthetically pleasing and very sanitary. I found out quickly it was not for me as it flared my claustrophobia. I'm glad I got to experience the 5 minutes I did. Always nice to try something new. My classmates and instructor enjoyed themselves though. They felt their pains subside. My overall experience was positive; the establishment is clean, professional, and clearly busy. I used a groupon to get a 45 min session (regularly $25) for $11. I think somewhere between $15-$20 would be the right price. The establishment is located in a storefront on mentor ave amongst other various unrelated businesses. Don't let this fact deter you. You need to make an appointment ahead of time and arrive at least ten min early. I'd also suggest bringing your own blanket. You begin the session by removing your shoes and putting booties on. You go into the cave (actually a room made to look like a cave--very well done) and find a recliner. I chose a recliner in the far end next a man (remember this detail). The session started by a quick explanation of the benefits. Then, the staff distributes hot energy balls for you to jostle in your hand during the session. They guy next explained how important the use of the hot energy balls are and that he always asks for two. Soothing music plays. I settled in and used the ball. Relaxing. Soothing. Next thing I know the guy next to me starts passing gas. Ok fine. No big deal. Anyhow, I really focused on the music. Then the guy next to me--the one passing gas--must have fell asleep and started snoring. Passing gas and snoring! I didn't let this deter me because the establishment wAs really nice and well run. 45 min seemed to go by in the blink of an eye! At the end of the session I asked my neighbor his his session was. He said "WONDERFUL!" And, "this place really relaxes, I feel I can get just let loose." Sure did! Good for him. Great place. Recommend. read more

With very little idea of what to expect, I signed up for a session in the Salt Cave. I was given booties to wear in the cave, and my personal belongings were locked up in a locker. I also took a blanket in the cave, but I should have taken two! It's cold in that salt room. I relaxed on a zero- gravity chair, covered up in my blanket, and relaxed for 45 minutes. We were all given headphones with spa sounds. There is a little bit of an explanation by some guy about salt, but it's about 5 minutes and then it's just relaxing music. The music is also piped into the salt room, so you have to hear it. I left feeling SO relaxed...like i just spent an hour at yoga or something. It was a teeny bit cold but another blanket would have solved that. Also, my headphones died about 4 minutes into the session, but it actually wasn't that bad - it blocked out the sounds of other people shifting in their chairs or coughing. I am surprised to admit I want to go back!! It's just 45 minutes of silence and calm, so it'll be nice to do some self-care. read more

I always enjoy going to the salt cave. Usually I end up booking when I feel the start of a stuffy nose and it seems to clear it up. Think of the cave as a much gentler alternative to a saline spray or neti pot. :) It is also nice to have a quiet space to just relax and meditate. The retail area also has reasonably priced authentic salt lamps ( they work as natural air purifiers and believe me as someone with allergies they work). Bare in mind reasonable for a lamp is still a bit above some people's budget. I believe they start at $20 but a good size one will run you $40 to $60. Finally they have really nice homemade soaps, scrubs, and lotions. The hand scrub made my hands so soft. read more

The cave was really relaxing- it was nice to sit in the dark room with lovely music and a nice environment. But the women at the front desk was rude and set the wrong mood for the entire experience. When we arrived we said we had an appointment at 2pm, but the worker said that there was no appointment for us at 2, that there was one at noon but that it was a no show. We clearly remember making the appointment at 2 (the person on the phone asked if 2 or 3 would be better) so it was their mistake. Nevertheless, there was plenty of room for us in the salt cave and there was no reason for the worker to make a big deal about the small mistake in time and certainly to be rude to a large group of customers. read more

On my second visit I tried the cave. First visit was a quick in and out to see what it was about, how it works, what is offered etc (and to buy some amazing smelling vino salt soap). I decided to buy a Groupon for the cave - as $25 for 45 minutes for a first timer seemed high. Ease of Scheduling - perfect you just call. It's every hour on the hour and once the cave is closed that's it. Lockers for your belongings and electronics - hospital style booties for your feet, headphones and toasty warm amazing fleece/plush blankets. (Love these blankets really want one!) Very polite and instructional. Cave - my chair didn't "lock" so I couldn't fully recline without feeling like I was inching backwards (third chair from the entry door on left side) but fine as if I laid down I would have been asleep lol. The music was odd as about ten minutes into relaxing the intro of why pink salt "helps" is heard - that should be the first thing say your next 40 is just relax mode. That and the actual sound of hearing the iodized salt "revved/pushed" into the cave were my reason for docking a star. I mean holistic health is all for the person who does it so I'm not here to say it doesn't work or it does - this is a super relaxing experience that I would recommend and would definitely do again! read more

I would liken this experience to the end part of yoga where you kind of meditate or relax. The cave was very relaxing, quiet, and comfortable--so much so that I fell asleep while in there. In terms of the health benefits boasted by the website, I'm not so sure. I didn't feel any different afterwards, but maybe I just didn't know what I was looking for. I gave three stars, not because the experience was poor, but because I'm not sure it's worth the money. I did that ionic foot bath not sure if I'm a Believer in that or not but it was pleasant and interesting. The Salt Cave was nice except for the person snoring loudly, that kind of ruined it. The fluorescent lighting in the lobby is a harsh for a relaxing Spa environment type of place. I will try the Salt Cave again to see if it helps with my asthma. I did the 45min salt cave filled with the 30min ionic foot soak. This is a long post but overall, I would not do this again due to the poor customer service. As an aside, I strongly suspect this is a bunch of pseudoscience which takes advantage of uneducated dreamers. Ok ready...let's dive in. The employees were very disorganized; specifically the older lady working (the younger gal seemed to know what was going on). There was a large (6-10ppl) group coming out of the cave as we arrived (we had a reservation). A few explained to the older employee that their headphones had static. She did not apologize or thank them for letting her know- she just took the headphones and said she "would check them out" and set them on the retail counter. While the group was sitting on the benches getting their shoes on, I was standing waiting to get to a locker to place my things the older woman tried to hand me blankets. My hands were full and I could not take the blankets from her (hoodie, booties that the young gal gave me after asking the older gal if she had done so, purse, cell phone). The older lady just awkwardly stood near me trying to hand me blankets. I asked if I could get the blanket once my hands were free (they were just on a shelf so it was not like they were prepared in anyway). She didn't move a muscle. I said, please just set them down and I'll get them in a moment. At this point two ppl left the bench and she set them on the bench. Weird, but people are weird. Then we went in the cave. The older lady came in to explain the headphones. She said "the headphones should be on blue (and pointed to the blue light) and at anytime hit this button if it's no longer on blue". Someone asked, "how will I know if it's no longer on blue when the headphones are on my head?" In which the older lady replied "you will see it". The person asked again..."if they are on my head how will I be able to see it?" She said "with your eyes, it won't be blue". (((Wtf))) The person said, "will the music stop playing if it's not on blue"? The lady said, "I don't know, probably". Cool, lady- you have no idea what you're saying or doing. My headphones were broken as if someone with a very large head wore them before me; I went full recline in the gravity chair so I just rested them on the head pillow but they were not tight to my head and I could hear other ppl in the cave. I was very glad I was given a blanket because I was chilly about 25min in. Later on the older lady said "oh you should have asked for two blankets". When? How? Afterwards I did the foot soak. The young girl set it up for me. Again, she seems competent. I do wish she would have asked us the questions pertaining to the warning sign 1)do I have a pacemaker 2)am I pregnant or breastfeeding. Neither question was asked at any time. Additionally, she could have told us that our chairs were massage chairs. I discovered it by looking at my friends chair and seeing the remote dangling. Then, the older lady came over to chat. My friend asked about the salt lamps with the intent to purchase one (aka sales pitch time). She asked, "how do the salt lamps work?" as in, how are they beneficial/healing/special? The lady went into a dialog of HOW A LAMP WORKS! "There is a cord that connects to a bulb. The cord plugs into any normal outlet. You turn the switch on and it lights up". ((Wtf)) More back and forth between the two and there was a mention of negative ions. My friend says "why are negative ions important"? And she replied "it's in the environment when you turn the lamp on".... and then when on to talk about how she has them all over her house and leaves them on during vacation and when she sleeps. Opportunity lost. The older lady analyzed our ionic foot spa colors which was filled with too many "other people have had" this color/that color stories. Then she told us that we will be able to smell some options for foot scrubs and began to list them off verbally. So...I guess we're NOT smelling them. I randomly selected my scrub and hoped for the best. And despite my one star review, the foot scrub was actually pretty nice. I asked the older lady what type oil was in the scrub and she said "it's salt and oil". At this point I was ready to go. I scrubbed rinsed and dried off. It was not clear where we were to put the towels after drying. I rolled mine up nicely and set it on the rinse bin. My friend set hers on the chair. I waited in the retail area while my friend went to the bathroom. She returned, looked at a few things. And we walked out. No goodbye from the staff. No thank you or see you next time. Weird and very poor customer service. It "looked like" customer service but it absolutely was not. When you have employees who have no idea what the heck they are taking about, it makes it very hard to buy into the salt theory and seems as if you employed a novice to pedal your "snake oil". read more

My sister and I were first timers to a salt cave and like other reviewers stated, the outside is deceiving. Inside is a really nice calm atmosphere. There was a water main break the morning we were there so they didn't have any running water but they let us do the salt cave appointment we had made. The employees were very friendly. The salt cave room was pretty cool. We put our booties on, got in our chair, put our blanket on, and they passed out these hot salt rocks. I put mine at the small of my back while I sat in the chair and it felt really nice. Headphones if you want them on or you can just listen to the music in the room without the headphones on. Ocean waves sounds which is really relaxing but then there's also this kind of bonging meditation sound that i didn't like as much. It was very relaxing. I was very stuffed up when I came in and almost immediately I could breathe very freely. I thought the 45 minutes went by quickly but I was very comfortable. I could have slept there for another hour. My sister found it kind of not as great having to sit there for 45 minutes but it was a cool experience. If I lived closer I'd probably go maybe once a month just to chill. I thought the website was a little weird to set up an appointment so I just called to set mine up and I also used a Groupon and saved $10 so that was pretty good. read more

An awful establishment with even worse customer service and unattentive employees. The foot baths are in plastic bins and you sit in the front lobby for thirty minutes. It's very uncomfortable. There are no magazines, you are just on display for others to stare at. The salt cave offers broken down zero gravity chairs for your comfort. Don't bother asking about the products because the employees are only able to regurgitate whatever script they have been given and can't offer real information. The manager is rude and the owner is just as poor with her people skills. I would not suggest this place to anyone. read more

I accidentally walked into Mentor Salt Cave, not realizing there is another cave and THAT was were my appointment was. I tried to check in with my group of 5 people and we were treated incredibly poorly! The girl on staff that night was appallingly rude and I will NEVER go back. Im think it is safe to assume that she knows there is another cave nearby and could have easily figured out my mistake and politely told me of my error and possibly gained a customer in the future. I got a gift certificate for my birthday to go here, so I went into the experience with little knowledge of what would happen. I was disappointed to learn that there is only one big salt cave you have to share with a bunch of people. My group was not maxed out, so I could put some space between myself and other people. However I still felt weird about sharing the experience with strangers so I couldn't really relax. There were some people in my group that went out to smoke right before going into the cave, which I wish wasn't allowed since the smell affected the atmosphere. The cave was nice. I am disappointed in the salt lamp I bought. The cashier asked if I wanted my receipt and I said no. They should give every customer a receipt instead of asking. My salt lamp was to bright for a bedroom. Nowhere did it say it ways from the Himalayan mountains of Pakistan. I have since read about these lamps and if they are bright it probably is not the real thing. They refused to exchange it. Won't be going back if this is the way they do business read more
