I really adore this little spot and I can't seem to stop bringing people here! It's cheerful and cute inside with lots of windows. You order at the counter at either do takeout or get a number and bring it to any of the tables, where your food will be brought out to you. I've had a few of the sandwiches, a few sides, and a few desserts. Everything has been super delicious. The desserts are actually crazy good, especially the apple cake and coconut layer cake. If you're not into fresh homemade quality dishes and desserts then this is not the place for you. If you are you're going to love it here!! We enjoyed the most delicious soups, bolognese, and salad. The care that goes into the cooking was obvious on our first bites. The apple cake was divine!! We took coconut rice pudding, chocolate cake and pumpkin cheesecake to go. The menu offered a number of homemade options with mostly sandwiches and salads along with some prepared items along the way. The service was appreciated, and the food was ready promptly. I went with the chicken chipotle panini ($12.99). I also chose a side of pesto pasta salad, which was a nice compliment. The panini consisted of spinach, cheddar, red onion, and chipotle mayo on rosemary focaccia that was baked rather than pressed. This was a well put together panini. It was a perfect balance of all the toppings, and they all appeared very fresh. My only issue was the consistency of the chicken breast. In some parts, the chicken was a little hard. Chicken salad was well seasoned, with lighter mayo, and perfect amount of celery. Their homemade bread was excellent, still a good amount of chew even after toasting. Quinoa and bean salad was tasty, though a bit dry; I'll try something else next time. Plenty of excellent homemade desserts. We went for the chocolate cake slice. Don't be discouraged by the price on the slices of cake, they easily feed 2 people. Cake was moist, with good bitter / sweet chocolate flavor. Key lime tart also excellent, flaky crust. read more

The food is excellent. The service is professional and relatively fast. This place is a little noisy due to the layout of the dining area. Lately, it has been very loud and very difficult, if not impossible, to carry on a normal conversation. The situation worsens when there is a large group of people for lunch. Today, there was a large group (more than 10?) of ladies sitting in a side room talking (screaming) so loud that we had to cut short our lunch and leave. The servers and restaurant staffers could not care less. Don't go to this place if you want to be in a relatively quiet environment and have a normal conversation. Five of us tried the pheasant grill for lunch. The gentleman who was at the register was extremely friendly and was able to answer all our different questions. There was a red lentil, curry coconut soup. I wasn't sure if I wanted to try it. He gave me a little sample. It was absolutely delicious. Several of us got soup and quiche. The vegan lentil soup was delicious and the red lentil coconut curry soup was delicious. We loved the quiche. It was full of lots of broccoli and cheese. Two of our friends, tried the turkey with the cranberry mayo with coleslaw. There was a lot of turkey. It seemed like in fresh. The sandwich was quite large. And somebody tried the barbecued pork sandwich. It was delicious. They tried having the coleslaw. It was probably one of the best coleslaw we've had in any of the restaurants we've gone to in the last two years. Steph was a 10 of we tried their homemade iced tea and asked for extra lemon. If you're ever in or near Hopewell, NJ, you should eat at the Peasant Grill. We go on Saturday's, after a morning of hiking, and we're never disappointed. We typically rotate with cheesesteaks, turkey club, portobello sub, and tofu sandwich. We should probably try other things on the menu too. Their sides are great, including the Quinoa-beet salad and potato salad. They give an extremely generous portion of french fries. This place is located in such a great area. Such a cute lunch spot with great flavor. I was in love with the coziness of the place and friendly service. They have a flavorful menu with some great sandwich options. I enjoyed the lamb sandwich which had fresh arugula but I would definitely recommend the chipotle chicken sandwich. It was HUGE and had some great flavor and paired great with a side of mashed potatoes and a chilled iced tea. Great homey vibes would definitely come here again. This place is wonderful! I come here often for lunch, and the service is always great. You order at the counter, and they give you a number to bring to your table so they know where to deliver. The portions are very large, and the food is fantastic. My favorite is the spinach salad, it is loaded with goat cheese, craisins, and candied walnuts. The dressing is delicious ! I also love the tomato soup and variety of quiches. Don't even get me started on their desserts.. their chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting is to die for. We found them on our way home from a hike in the Sourland Mountain Preserve, cruising a little farther up the road than we usually go. The new location, interior, and available parking is a great improvement over the previous location. I love the decor of the new place with it's cathedral ceilings, white subway tile, and vintage mint green accented walls and like-colored food-related antiques. The food is still wonderful. We both ordered from the specials menu today. Husband: spaghetti with two hefty meatballs. Mine: Chipotle salmon with two sides (broccoli rabe with red peppers and risotto with winter squash. The meal was capped off by blackberry bread pudding topped with Frangelico sauce. Cheerful counter staff, great food, lovely surroundings. Five stars (again). read more

Place can get busy at lunch time so plan accordingly if you are on a tight schedule. Good deserts and a cool soda fountain. Check other reviews for favorite foods here, i have only been once so cant really say anything about the foods other than what i got. I got a turkey meal with a "cranberry jus" kinda plain and tasteless but still good. I would recommend they ditch the liquid dip and just put a straight cranberry sauce right on the sandwich. I never expect much from restaurant food because they're generally always average, but The Peasant Grill was a pleasant surprise. We stopped in The Peasant Grill for lunch thanks to a Google search for somewhere that was open on a Monday. Walking in, we were a bit hesitant as I didn't actually look at the website, and realize it was a place to order from the counter then find a seat... but it smelled delicious and was REALLY busy, so we decided to stay and give it a shot. The split pea with kielbasa soup was amazing! We each got wraps, and couldn't finish them. Yes, I also really like the offerings at Aunt Chubbies and Boro Bean (especially how Boro Bean uses feta), but this is my favorite. I have spoken.
