We recently had kitchen countertops and bathroom countertops installed by Mercatto Stone. They did a great job and the staff were a pleasure to deal with. Very professional with great follow up before and after the installation. The countertops look great, the installation was very well done. We did request they come back to sand down one of the seams which they did within a couple days and we were very pleased. We ordered laundry cabinets and counter tops through Cabinets To Go. Cabinets To Go hired Mercatto Stone to fabricate our quartz countertops. In the initial meeting, the idea of having full backsplashes on the sides of two countertops was discussed but not decided. We decided that we did not want the additional back splashes. My husband had a telephone conference with Carol at Mercatto and Sandra at Cabinets To Go and stated that we did not want the additional backsplashes. The plan that was distributed following that meeting showed only a backsplash on one cabinet top and two near the sink on the other. Three backsplashes were eliminated. We were told that we could expect a refund of around $1500. Three weeks later, Mercatto showed up with the base counter top. The mason informed us that he had cut the sides to allow for the addition of side splashes. In other words, we had to add material to each side of the countertop to fill in the spaces. We probably should have rejected the countertop, but instead, we agreed to narrow side splashes on two sides and no sidesplash on the other counter top. Mercatto refuses to refund the excess payment. If there were a 10-star option Mercatto Stone would be given an 11!! Not only were they easy to work with (they completely understood the anxiety of purchasing a new villa and remodeling a kitchen & 2 baths), they helped us select the perfect marble, granite, quartzite & quartz for each area and, the most important, showed up on the days and times promised to template the counter tops and do the installations. Sergio, the owner, and his team settle for nothing less than perfection. Post-installation I found a small nick in the kitchen counter top. Sergio immediately came to fix it (can't even see where it was) and made two suggestions for modifications to the counters to make the (at that time uninstalled) back splash look better. Not only did he make the suggested modifications to the counters without removing them, it was done with no mess. He then proceeded to install the marble back splash - sheer perfection!! He gave us instructions in terms of caring for the products he installed, looked at the tiles and terrazzo installed by the contractor who did the major renovations and suggested the best ways to care for that as well. He suggested how we could best remove stains and construction damage to the terrazzo floor tile done by the contractor and offered, if we cannot do it ourselves, he will do it for us. Either way, he will then seal the terrazzo along with all the wall tiles which the contractor never sealed. I can honestly say if you're looking for a tile person who is reasonably priced, excellent to work with, knows what he's doing and follows up with his customers Mercatto Stone is the company to call. read more
