I can't believe Merced Toyota gets many 1 star ratings. Let's get back to history. I had been there on and off, according to my experience, the service department is great, the mechanist took me to my Tacoma on the hoist and explained exactly what was the problem and what he would do. I know that dealers' price is high, but for what I went through not just once, several times at the service department, I am happy with it. It should be at least a 4.5 stars. The sales department is a "nah". Back in 2006 my family shopped for a new 4runner with 3rd row seat in white. There was none, and the salesman tried to persuade me to buy one in the lot that had 200 miles and no 3rd row seat. He was not willing to figure out if he can bring in the one I was looking for. The sticker price was a bit over 33K for that particular model at the time. I asked him to do 30K, he said "no, the sticker price is what we sell." I already did price research on this 4runner, every dealer in the valley and Bay Area sold for 28, 998 and no more or less. We discussed for a few minutes, we left. The salesman didn't even care if we were leaving. So we shopped and bought the 4runner from Michael Toyota in Fresno/Clovis, it is exactly the one we looked for and the price we were willing to pay. The following year I shopped for a TRD Tacoma Double cab, there was none, the availability was very limited, so i bought it from Piercy Toyota in the Bay Area. In my opinion, sales dept. should get 1 star. I had not go back to Merced Toyota for a new or used car, I went there for parts and service still. Parts department are doing good, I used to buy parts from there ever since the dealer opened in the 90s. 5 star for this dept. Always great customer service. Overall rating by me is 5 + 1 + 4.5 = 10.5 divide by 3 = 3.5 stars I believe things may be changed since my shopping there. read more

I will not be purchasing another vehicle from this dealer. I have purchased 5 vehicles from Merced Toyota starting in 2001 and after the last purchase I will not return. My wife and I came in to look at the 2015 Prius due in large part to the factory rebate in conjunction with the dealer incentives. We picked out a car and began the process of going back and forth when the finance manager came in and offered us a deal with an inflated cost on the Prius and $3000.00 less than KBB said our trade was worth on low trade value. I simply asked for the keys to my car back so we could go elsewhere, he assured me this was just the first offer and asked what I thought my trade was worth. I had already said what I expected and told him if he thought it was unreasonable I should just go and not waste any body's time. after going back and forth for about an hour and being told the reason they would not pay what my car was actually worth is because the incintives (which they offered) would not allow them to make a favorable profit we finaly reached a deal. About a week after purchasing the Prius and giving a fair online survey of my experiences, I started recieving spam calls on my cell phone. At first I didn't think anything of it but when my wife complained of the same thing I knew it could only be Merced Toyota and the frequency of the calls is only getting worse. so do yourself a favor and don't buy from here. read more

Gil Garcia worked with my wife and me to find my wife the perfect car. He did it. My wife is very happy. Inhave purchased more than twenty new cars and i found Gil to be the best i have dealt with. He even followed with a call to make sure everything was fine. We have already purchased three cars from your dealership and you can rest assured we will buy again as long as Gil sells it to us. This has to be the one dealership where I have had the worst experience. The internet sales manager, Greg, was extremely rude and unprofessional. He gave me horrible attitude simply for trying to drop the price on a RAV4 they had in stock. Isn't that what every customer wants when buying a car? To get the lowest price possible? It's called negotiating. When I decided I had enough of Greg's attitude I asked him if I could take a copy of the invoice he had printed for me. Greg then proceeded to toss the paper at me and say "I don't care! Take it, I don't need it!". Very, very rude. My father and I instead walked across the street to Honda and ended up purchasing a CR-V. Honda had very friendly staff and negotiating was much more professional. One thing I can say for sure is that Merced Toyota has undoubtedly lost a potential customer. I could have been a life long customer. Please save yourself the trouble. If you're committed to a Toyota look for another dealership other than Merced Toyota. If not, maybe consider giving Honda a try. They do also have better resale values than Toyotas. But either way you'll avoid Merced Toyota. Nobody, including you, deserves to be spoken to the way Greg did to my father and I that day. read more

Smart move on Toyota management part to promote Rob Hampton to run the Service Department. I hope he continues to receive the support he needs to be successful... I do not agree with any of the negative reviews listed about Merced Toyota. My family did not experience anything bad about our car buying experience with them. Although we did know exactly what we wanted and the price we wanted to pay. Greg and his staff were to the point and very professional. In every part of us buying our 2017 Toyota Sienna. I am a very hard individual to have as a customer. Im the one family member that everybody goes to when they want to buy a new car. So from the beginning Greg was on point and very knowledgeable about the product, prices and financing. I was very impressed. Not only that I called and dealt directly with sales guys and there Managers from most of the Central Valleys dealerships. Greg & Merced Toyota are definitely at the top of the list in my experience. Some of the other Toyota dealers didn't even give me the time of day when I contacted them. Or they never returned my calls. However, most of them eventually did. I got one last thing to say. Since you have read this much. Greg is a "man of his word". And yes... My husband and i bought our tacoma a few wks ago from this dealership. What we should have done was gone with our gut instinct and go somewhere else since we've had bad experience from them before. however we were willing to try again and go through the process. We were real grateful that they found the specific truck that we wanted and was willing to give us a good price for it. The guys that deal with the costco program were awesome and our salesman ramiro was great and he knew his stuff, took his time with us and answered our questions. We were ready to sign the dotted line but the closing sales manager robert sanchez made it go from falling in love with the truck, to leaving it behind and go to another dealership with a new set of wants for the truck we were wanting to buy. However a couple of days later ramiro called us back and got us back in with another sales mgr ramsin and we were able to leave the dealership with our truck we wanted. read more

Vehicle was promptly taken at appointment time, respectively greeted by Richard Gonzales and assisted politely with questions, facility was well maintained and clean throughout, was approached while in waiting room and asked if I needed a courtesy ride to a specific destination within a short time of sitting down, was offered a snackfrom customer service snack basket while waiting. The environment seems much happier than past visits to this facility....not sure what the change is but it is nice to see staff is generally happy and not overwhelmedStaff stresses are easily felt by the customer. We went on line & found an used 4Runner 4X4 that we liked. I called & talked with Martin Villanueva (Sales Consultant). He provided me all the information i requested & i told him we would come see the SUV. When we arrived he had it ready for us to inspect & test drive. He answered every question we had about the SUV. This was our first car from this dealership and will definitely be our last!!! The worst service ever! Purchased a certified car, started having serious problems with it immediately after purchase. Their so called 'certified technicians' checked the car several times and could never find anything wrong, giving us the run around. Toyota corporate office got involved and referred us to a different dealership for a service check and they found NUMEROUS problems with the car. The dealership general manager Mike was nothing but rude with us and a big liar! he sent info to Toyota corporate office saying they checked the car again and found nothing, well the day he stated they 'checked, and test drove' the car was a big lie! We were looking for a used 1st car for our youngest son and saw one on line. Contacted them for info and their "special price" was well over blue book. How was that a "deal"??? We decided to physically go there on a Sunday anyway to look around and the minute we got out of the car, not one, not two but THREE sales persons (aka vulchers) swarmed us and would not leave us alone. Though we told them that we wanted time to just look around and would call them over if we needed them, they all followed us around the lot. When we told them that what we were looking at was oustide our son's price range/budget, they practically begged us to look at a Honda Civic that was totaly thrashed and dirty inside and out with a big dent on the driver side door with well over $100k miles. And they were asking for $9k--WHAT?????? YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!! We got irritated and left. Here's a piece of advise Merced Toyota: if your customer wants to be left alone a while, LEAVE THEM ALONE or be guarnateed a no sale!!!!! I live in Sacramento(a long drive from Merced), but I found a Certified Pre-Owned Toyota Corolla online at Merced Toyota that I really liked. Having poor credit, I contacted the Merced Toyota financing department to see if they could qualify me for a reasonable rate before I drive down to see the car. Their financing department was incredible....they qualified me at a reasonable rate AND two days later called me to tell me they were able to find me an EVEN BETTER rate, which saved me a ton of money over the life of the loan. I worked the details of the purchase out via email and over the phone even before driving down to see and test drive the car. Literally all I had to do was drive down, test drive the car, sign the paperwork, and I was on my way. The Sales Manager(Mike) and the Head Finance guy(Bill) were absolute professionals and great to work with. I'd make the same trip again if I need another vehicle. read more

I have had the most unsatisfactory and unacceptable service experiences at Merced Toyota. From the buying experience to the routine vehicle services, I'm still questioning why I purchased a vehicle from here. It all started when I purchased my vehicle. By the time we visited the finance manager to sign paperwork, our monthly payment had an extra $7 added to the overall negotiated payment. That was an immediate red flag, and I'm glad my wife caught it. Since it was the make/model vehicle I wanted with the upgrades I was looking for, and it was in the area, I disregarded the "accident." My other experiences occurred with my routine oil changes provided by Toyota Care. The 5,000 mile service took about 30 minutes longer than what we were told, but I wasn't too bothered because we were visiting family in the area. The 10,000 mile service was the absolute worst. I showed up at my scheduled appointment time and had to wait nearly 15 minutes before they could check me in. From there, the service took nearly 2 hours longer than the time we were told when the vehicle would be ready. Eventually, we saw that the vehicle was in the parking area for pick-up, but we were not called for 30 minutes. Finally, we complained to the service desk, and we were able to get our keys. The next day, I received a call from the service manager, Rob, and he was very apologetic. He also offered a free car wash during our next service visit. Well, I came in for my 15,000 mile service, and I will never go back. I scheduled my appointment bright and early so that I could get in first. As I'm checking in my vehicle, I mentioned to the Assistant Service Manager that it took a long time during our last visit, and Rob offered a car wash for the trouble. He told me that they were short staffed so he probably couldn't give me a car wash, and he said it would take 1 -1.5 hours for the service. After 2.5 hours, my car hadn't even made it into the service center. I politely asked for my keys back and inquired to what was going on. I saw several people that came in after me get their cars serviced and left while I waited. I was told that they were short staffed, and they would get me right in. I declined and left without my service. Maybe I was put in the back of the line because it was considered a "drop off" as I walked to get breakfast down the street? Overall, it was totally unacceptable, and I will never recommend, encourage, or promote my family, friends, and colleagues to visit or buy from Merced Toyota. As a business leader that provides service to my customers, I know how important it is to value quality, communication, and time. Integrity is at stake, and it is important to stick to your word and communicate. If I were told a legitimate time for the services or that it would take longer than expected for the services, I would not be writing this right now. Below I see a lot of bad reviews and responses from the general manager and service manager. You guys really need to do something about this. Too many salesmen sitting around and not enough service staff. Invest that labor into service so happy customers can recommend more people to buy from Merced Toyota. read more

wELL, WELL, WELL. I took the opportunity to read other service department customers reviews before starting to write mine...I only wish I had read them before taking my 2008 Camry in to them. We delivered our car to them because of a dead battery. While in their custody, the determined (they said) that it needed new brakes...ok, safety, I get it, authorized repair...but when I called to check up, I was given a phone estimate of $1500 (a lot of money for a battery and a brake job) When my wife picked up the car (3 hours later than promised) the total came to $1800. Needless to say, our business will go elsewhere. As senior citizen and a disabled veteran I find that it is necessary for me to have businesses that I can trust. Merced Toyota has lost my trust. (P.S. do 2008 Camry's have 4 wheel disc brakes? All my other cars have front discs and rear drum brakes, but the service writer insisted it had 4 wheel disc brakes...when I asked him how the parking brakes operated he sorta fumbled some explanation...so I dunno if they are totally honest...) read more

Please save your time and go somewhere else. Greg and I had agreement on certain price and we agree that I will come the day after to pick up the car. But nah, other person called me the day after (TWO HOURS BEFORE appointment time) and said the price has changed. They had lot of time since morning but they chose to notify me that price has changed two hours before appointment. I guess they were discussing on how to give a good reason for a price changed. Unfortunately I can't be fooled. Oh and what did Greg do? Not even an apology. Instead of apologize of sudden price changed, he raised his tone to a customer and said he has right to refuse the deal. I wonder what did I do and what is my right as a customer to get such attitude from a sales person/internet manager? I wonder if they have BASIC MANNER that if you are wrong you should apologize and for being a sales person yet didn't know how to do a customer service. NOPE. Go somewhere else. Rather pay more with people that can respect each other than having deal but worst customer service. read more

Went to Merced Toyota to buy a Corolla because they were local and because I didn't want to wait 3-4 days for the delivery of the new vehicle from another dealer. I had a quote from that dealer and was willing to purchase as long as they were willing to do price match. The listed price was 19,200. I told the sales person that I was a member of Costco and was told they would give me a price even lower than the MSRP. He brought me back the "Costco price" at 18,975. Which was the actual MSRP price so I said no. I showed him my quote from the other dealer and told him I was willing to buy if they can match the price. We went back and forth with the negotiation so his manager finally came over. The manager attempted to get more money out of me so I told him I was thru with them. The manager then asked what price I was willing to purchase it at. Since they've been trying to haggle me I said 500 less than the quote or I'm walking out. He settle for that price, $500 less than what I would have originally willing to pay. Also was being haggle to purchase GAP and Warranty. How many times do I have to say no. Would not recommend this dealer unless they can offer a really cheap deal. read more

I rate Merced Toyota as a five because it was the easiest, and best purchase I have made in a long time. I am super happy with the whole process, and was so impressed with the service, being a loan officer, I have heard many horror stories about dealerships. But Greg Renwick was awesome. I felt like I was talking to a friend instead of someone trying to sell me something. First contact I did online and got a call back right away. I bought the car that night. He got to know my likes and dislikes, and put me in the exact car, and loan that I needed. i had been researching for months and was very happy at how easy the process was. I highly recommend him, there was no pressure, and he helped me make a big decision. Not only did he come in on his day off to help me,(it was his daughter's birthday) he had my current car cleaned up and delivered so I could drive my new car home.
