A great neighborhood restaurant! This place has burgers and fries to die for! I've never tasted fries so good. Draft beer--IPA and Miller Lite as well as wine. Their breakfast menu is great and delicious. It sure beats Biscuits restaurant. We've been visiting this place for years. It is in Sun City, so expect to see mostly seniors. They are doing a good job with distancing, and are always clean. read more

True diner love. We just so happened to be in the area and were ready for something good for lunch. We both agreed that what we really wanted was diner food and we found the absolute perfect place in Mercer's Restaurant. We were a little hesitant when google maps brought us to the end of a strip mall, but we totally went for it. Inside is the epitome of diner, the only thing missing was counter service. We were seated immediately at a booth and one glance around showed us we were, by far, the youngest customers. The diner was absolutely hopping for lunch on a Friday and filled to the brim with 60+ patrons who we could tell were regulars of the diner. I knew we were in the right place; talk about classic diner! Breakfast is served all day, except on Fridays (until 3pm) and there are daily specials listed in the menu. I was super impressed with the prices listed! Everything is extremely reasonably priced as well. Service was quick and friendly. Mr David ordered the #3 breakfast special ($6.99): 2 eggs, choice of meat, with pancakes. These pancakes are true buttermilk pancakes too; super fluffy and BIG! He really enjoyed what he ordered. I ordered the Fish Fillet Sandwich ($8.49): fried cod on a hoagie roll with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and tartar sauce. All sandwiches come with your choice of fries, soup, salad, potato salad, or coleslaw. I couldn't believe all the choices! I opted for the salad. I was super impressed with the size of the fish sandwich and the tartar sauce was delicious and homemade. I also really enjoyed the salad which was absolutely loaded with fresh veggies. We loved everything about our meal here at Mercer's Restaurant and are disappointed we don't live in the area as we would make this our regular place! P.S. Looking for another place to eat breakfast on Sundays. Not that the place we usually eat was not good it is just we wanted a little change. Even though is is table service it almost feels like a cafeteria. There is many people here that you can tell are regulars. The food was good the service was good and this is why people come time and time again. I had beacon and eggs over easy. No bread no potatoes. I was asked if I wanted to sub something else for no bread or potatoes but no, I was satisfied with just the eggs and beacon. To my surprise when the meal came they had given me three eggs, Nice. I'm always looking for a nice local diner. I found Mercer's on Yelp and decided to stop in! I'm so glad I did. We stopped in for breakfast and had the daily special chicken fried steak. It was delicious! The meal came with chicken fried steak, hash browns, 3 eggs and choice of toast or pancakes for only 8.15! After restaurants were re-opened, we went in for breakfast. Not one single staff had a mask on or gloves on at all. The tables were spaced apart just fine. I had no untensils so asked the server to bring me some and she returned with them and placed them on the table using her bare hands. No customers in the place had a mask on when entering ..... FOX news played on the tv. I asked the server if they have any rules to follow by management and she said quietly "No, but I wish they did". We will not return and do not recommend this restaurant. Not safe and it appears the management does not believe the virus is a reality. Update 6-18: at least one of the Mercer's (Jake) contacted me via email and was very pleasant. He wanted to talk by phone (nothing in writing) and I did not want to just have an argument over masks so declined. At this time, the governor is pushing hard and maybe, just maybe Mercer's will make a change and do what 99% of people want and that is to feel safe going in. The mashed potatoes and white gravy were dreamy. The country fried steak was crunchy and tasty but on the stingy size. The salad had delicious sweet beets added to it. Have now been to Mercers twice and have left because they are not following COVID guidelines. Ask the manager why the sign on the door states Masks are required per the law but people were coming in without masks. Why weren't they stopped before being allowed in. I was told they were too busy to enforce the law. I want to note they were not busy. This restaurant is in an area with vulnerable population. If they cannot follow these simple rules what other rules/laws are they choosing to ignore. Putting a sign on your door is doing no good if it's not enforced. read more

Yummy pancakes made from special house batter were perfectly golden, light/airy & spongy in texture, and had a subtle maple flavor even without the addition of their syrup. Pancakes are their flagship breakfast entree, though you can choose from the many other items including omelettes, french toast, or the common 2-egg with sides combos. This place has a local owner with a family member as the chef named Dean that is admired by most patrons. Oh, and he's the one who makes the delicious pancakes of course. Atmosphere is clean, sterile, and almost like an old hospital cafeteria from decades ago (notice the operating room blue colored booths). Patrons are almost exclusively senior citizens and the feel is relaxed, comfortable, and really is a throwback to casual breakfast spots were in the past. Location is on the north side of Peoria just before 99th ave., not far west of the 101. It's an older strip mall with ample parking, but down't be thrown off by the modest exterior (restaurant is to the far right when you enter the lot). We're staying near the University of Phoenix stadium for Phoenix Comicon Fan Fest. There are a ton of restaurants in the area within walking distance but it's a Saturday night and everything is very busy. So I turned to Yelp looking for alternatives and Mercer's kept coming up. What the hell, we jumped in the car and drove a few miles down the road to check it out. The restaurant is a dark corner of a strip mall and didn't look like much on the outside. Things don't get much better when you enter. Everything is in washed out shades of blue, grey and beige. The combined age of the clientele has to seriously be in the thousands. You really think you've stumbled into a senior center cafeteria. But once you get over that, everything was great. Service was fast, the waitress was friendly and the food was excellent and cheap. We got the cheeseburger and the prime rib sandwich. My only real complaint was that the cheeseburger was a little on the small side but it was a hand made patty and it was very tasty. Our meal came out to less than $20. I'd go back to Mercer's any day. read more

I've Loved mercers for 13 years now. The best selection for a vegetarian like myself. And if there's something that I like the sound of but I don't want to meet in it just all the other stuff, they do it. And they discount it for me. Good, family, place to go for breakfast lunch and dinner. The liver and onions is to die for, says my husband, he still eats meat. And I always get a big fat vegetarian omelette with lots of cheese. This is one of Sun City's Standby restaurants. Had company and we met at Mercer's for breakfast since it's near my home. Seated right away, even though the place was pretty full. Good service and a decent breakfast. Prices are moderate. I had their pancakes bacon and egg special. I have been here for dinner a few times. Friday nights they have all you can eat fish and or, all you can eat fish and shrimp. Most of the restaurants in Sun City are a little bland and I think that's because their patrons like it that way. read more

Finally found this gem of a restaurant! The menu is comprehensive and the food is delicious! Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and so very friendly. We both had the chopped steak dinner which also came with a full salad or soup, rolls, choice of veggies and a potato choice. So full, we had to take part of our meals home. But after the waitress offered us homemade carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, that had to make a trip home too! Cannot say enough about this restaurant. We will now consider this a staple! On a quest for the best biscuits and gravy. Mercer's was recommended by a friend as she felt, "they have the best biscuits and gravy". Um, I don't think she knows what great biscuits and gravy are supposed to taste like. We had a heart to heart. The gravy was served in a cereal bowl with sprinkled sausage on top. The gravy tasted of flour and there was not a hint of pepper in it. The biscuits were perfect. The search continues. Also ordered the scrambled eggs. If you don't like your scramble on the wet side, order them well. I admired my boyfriends scramble and pouted as to why as his were perfect. He stated that he ordered his well cooked.
