Our server Haylee was fantastic! Good atmosphere and good food, too. Also, most of the pints were fair price at $6. I would recommend checking it out. Cheers!

First time in at the Merchant Tavern and I had a pretty good experience, the service was fast and our waitress was really kind. It was kind of dark in the restaurant which gave it that tavern vibe. We ordered the poutine fries as a starter, the BBQ pork belly on these fries was AMAZING and wish I could have had more of it. I wanted there to be a menu item of just the pork belly because it was honestly the best thing we ate here. the fries were okay and the cheese was cold so it for sure was not my favorite poutine but I would order it again just for that bbq pork belly. The salmon salad was good, the lemon vinaigrette came on the side which I appreciated. There was not a ton of flavor for the whole dish but it was refreshing and a solid size piece of salmon. The Hell Fire burger was spicy and most of the flavor came from that sauce, was not a super juicy burger from what I could tell but it looked good and a nice looking bun. The fries were good, not super crispy but they are decent fries as a side for the burger. If i were to go again I will be trying mel's killer steak sandwich, it looks DELICIOUS!

WOW burgers were phenomenal many varieties. Grilled perfectly tender tasty and not greasy. The drink menu was pages and pages beers, wines mixed drinks with in-house gin and rum. We had cheese curds and sauerkraut balls both excellent. We arrived about 6 pm Wednesday the place was packed and we braced for a wait but got a table for 4 in a minute. Our server was prompt arriving seconds after we settled. She was attentive but not pushy. I wish I could remember her name, 19 brunette, I would ask for her next time. The place was large but split into sections making a cozy atmosphere.

10/10 food and service. Loved the lighting and music. Every dish we ordered exceeded expectations and the drinks were phenomenal. Would highly recommend trying their towpath spirits and cocktails! Always a hit here

Stopped in for dinner before our show at Weathervane. Great atmosphere, good food, and even though they were busy the service was amazing. Our server, Dillon went above and beyond. Just be cautious of the hellfire burger, the sauce is so hot that its practically inedible( burger was cooked perfectly, just recommend getting the sauce on the side) Also, skip the fries they are a bit on thebsoggy side. Everything else we had was great though.

Thai mussles- with bacon, ginger and shallots! 5/5 this was amazing! My favorite thing we tried. Seafood hushpuppies- not exactly what i expected. It was good but not great. 2/5 Calamari- the aiolis they used on these spectacular buttermilk fried babies is so tasty! 5/5 Shrimp n lobster gratin- there was onions, bell peppers and loads of cheese. The bread was perfect for serving this dish to make it less messy. 4/5 Steak- we order medium and it was cooked as we ordered. Great flavor for both the steak and the delicious smashed tatters. 5/5 Shrimp and grits- the shrimps were huge! Not over cooked which is easy to do with shrimp. The grits has a slight smokeness from the gouda cheese and i believe pork belly was a topper! 5/5 I HIGHLY recommend getting a reservation for this place. We walked in and waited about 45 minutes. Avoid the hassel, and prebook your party.

I'm a regular and been meaning to post / review for some time - what I love about the Merchant is the consistent quality of the food and drinks along with the friendliness of the servers and bar team. I've had some really great food here. And the bartenders follow the recipes (which are well done) to the tee, so the end product is consistently good. Lots of TVs in case you want to catch a game out. Great place, highly recommend.

Came here on a recent weekend evening for a dinner after a nearby movie. Place was not super-busy, but apparently the kitchen was significantly short-staffed so the food service took five-ever to arrive. Our server tried to keep us updated, offering some bread and butter and keeping our drinks refilled while we waited, but it was a super long wait. My wife had an entree salad, which she seemed to enjoy. I ordered one of their signature dishes, the chicken philly sandwich with a side of fries. The fries were hot, fresh cut and pretty tasty. The chicken philly was less than stellar with slightly undercooked onions and dry-ish grilled chicken chunks. Maybe an au jus dipping sauce would have helped the sandwich along? Not sure. I am hoping this was just an anomaly evening as we'd heard good things and I'd be willing to give them another try.

Sinatra Burger with Fries

Got to come here with friends; it was a good good time but.... Finally got to come here, we've tried before but FYI, they're closed on Mondays! Parking lot is a HOT MESS! I don't really know how they manage when they're busier, because the parking lot is so small. The lots next to them have clear signs about what business-customer can park there, or be towed. One friend risked being towed, another parked across the street and one was able to find a spot in their tiny lot. Inside is a bit dark, but nice. There are a couple of dining set up. As soon as you walk-in there's a bar, the off to the left is a bigger, more open dining then there's a small room that can accommodate smaller groups. There's a window to their distillery, where you may see someone occasionally checking the equipment and product. The food was good, poutine was delicious with some crunchy pork belly, merry cheese and savory gravy. It's big and heavy, we split it between the group, maybe a descent size for 4-6 individuals. Grits we're "delicious" according to one of my friends (licked the plate clean). The BBQ burger was good, and the Sinatra was okay. The Sinatra burger was a bit dry, the t eh ciabatta bread was just too much bread. Maybe if it was a bit toasted (olive oil and pan toasted?) it would have been better. Overall, we were okay with the experience. I would come here again, if somebody suggested it.

Waited an hour and a half for an ice cold burger on a rock hard bun. Waitress told us it was our fault for having build your own burgers.

It's worth noting that they share a space with Magic City Brewing and when walking in, it wasn't immediately clear what we were supposed to do. The only bartender on staff wasn't particularly talkative/welcoming in the sense of explaining what was going on or how things worked ...and the Cult Kitchen staff are behind a window past the bar. (I dont necessarily blame CK for the MCB bartender, but they're choosing to share that space and it's part of the experience so it seems like it's relevant.) We sat down at a booth and realized was a small table sign with a QR code for the food and drink menu. Below the codes is a small line of text that explains to go to the Cult Kitchen window for food and go to the bar for drinks. This isn't necessarily a bad setup, just had to adjust our mindset as it's more casual and in line with a food truck experience. ...like going up to the window more ketchup (it's in little lidded containers) for all those fries ...and cleaning up after yourself, as there is no one busing tables. Again, the food was very good but the overall experience was just lacking. It seems like it could be something really special if the hospitality and service was there!

Despite the positioning on their website it's not a traditional sit down place. It's an order window and then they bring food to the table. They share space with the Brewing company so a bottle of soda is what you get from the order window but anything else you go over to order at the bar separately. Two of us went for an early dinner. We opted for pretzel app which were tasty and a very big portion resulting in us not finishing them. I would say that app could easily serve 4. Slider special was tasty but considering the heavy portion of fries not everything on my plate was finished and neither was my coworkers meal. Eyes were bigger than our stomach. Place has about 10 (?) tables/booths and then folks sitting around the bar at the brewery side. I imagine on a popular day of the week (we went mid week before the dinner time rush) it could get crowded and loud. Feel of the place is grunge/biker though clean and well kept and without feeling 'theme restaurant'. I would say it has its only unique personality. Had we been more prepared from the restaurant's website for what the place was we might have more enjoyed things. It's just feels more 'out drinking and getting the nibbles' than a destination meal.

Service was friendly and the right amount of attentive, making sure our water glasses were full and checking in on our party. Food options are mostly bar/pub type food (understandably so) but they have a couple of salads. Not a ton of vegetarian options unfortunately, so I ended up eating appetizers and tried their fish sandwich. That said, the fried pickles were amazing (they put dill in the batter which I loved) and they came with an excellent dipping sauce. The onion rings were good but super greasy and the breading was a little thicker than I would prefer. The giant soft pretzel was SO GOOD...I wish I'd gotten a photo of that but we demolished it! Fish sandwich was decent but nothing to write home about...pretty thick breading there too but the fish was good and it came with a huge serving of fries. All in all pretty tasty food and I'd go back for sure, just not a place to go if you are looking for health ;) Thank you for a nice evening, Caston & Main!

My husband loved his smoked Gouda Mac and cheese with crispy chicken on top. He tried so hard to save some for leftovers but ended up not being able to. I had the salmon which was perfect medium and had a really good Asian sauce with it accompanied by rice and veggies which were also cooked to perfection. We were lucky to have a back room so we had a little more privacy which was nice but the restaurant was packed for a Saturday night so I'd recommend a reservation for sure. Food extraordinary! Service impeccable!…read moreAmbiance: A blast from the past! Make your way over to Wolf Creek Tavern, Norton Ohio!

Nothing super major went wrong, but many little things added up to a not great experience…read more First, the restaurant was colder than we expected, and the bathrooms were absolutely freezing. It was a cold night (20 degrees or so), but I was surprised the restaurant it self was chilly. I'm not usually cold, so it was surprising. Second, I ordered the "Build an Entree" and chose the pork chop and broccolini as my side (it comes with two sides, but I asked for extra broccolini because of my diet). The pork chop comes out covered in this glaze that I find out is a bourbon glaze, but there are onions in it. I cannot eat onions at all (allergy), and nowhere on the menu is it listed that there is a glaze. The broccolini was cooked but was no longer warm. I mentioned these things to our server, and she said that their pork chop has always come with that glaze and it is mentioned on the menu. I asked to see a menu, and the only place the pork chop is mentioned is in this "Build an Entree" section, and no glaze/sauce is listed. The pork also looked slightly undercooked for medium, but maybe that's just me. They cleaned off the glaze and reheated everything, and the food was good. My wife had the salmon and very much enjoyed it. Finally, the check came and everything was priced 4% higher than the menu prices. When I inquired about that, they said it was because of credit card fees, and if we paid in cash, they would remove that fee. I understand the need for credit card fees, but it's not listed anywhere on the menu that they have such a fee, and the fact that it came out with such a fee built in already makes me question whether or not they reduce it unless someone asks specifically. All in all, it just wasn't the quality experience we were hoping for on a date night. I don't think we'll be back any time soon.
