breakfast milk bun sandwich with bacon
    Mallory B.

Mercredi has my favorite turkey sandwich in town at the moment. the focaccia bread is perfectly salted and is super yummy. the sandwich is pretty big and can be a little unwieldy to eat but it's definitely worth it. i also love the milk bun breakfast sandwich with bacon. the sides are worth trying and are relatively affordable. service here is either super fast or on the slower side depending on what time you go (lunch rush vs. right before lunch). love the interior of mercredi, super friendly and welcoming. i'll always be back for easy work lunch sandwiches!

This place is so cool! I love that they have a little market with cheese, drinks, chips, and other goodies to go along with their food. The service was pretty fast and the workers there were very nice! I got their weekend special sandwich with soppressata, burrata, arugula, and balsamic. It was delicious - the balance of savory meat, peppery arugula, and sweet balsamic was great! The focaccia bread was also super fluffy and tasty. It's a little pricey for a sandwich but I loved trying it out and think it's a great spot to stop for a quick bite in the old market!

It was a great sandwich on beautiful focaccia! The salads were good too. Really nice staff too. Definitely worth the drive to the Old Market.

My sister's boyfriend went to Mercredi's opening and immediately advised that I try it. It's safe to say I am now recommending Mercredi to everyone I know. I have not been this impressed in a long time, and Mercredi was just the absolute best lunch experience with the most delicious selection! Firstly, the ambience is super chill, trendy, and the perfect backdrop to a quick lunch with friends. The staff is also very sweet and helpful; the girl taking my order was very welcoming and kind. I got the roast beef sandwich and an Italian sparkling drink, and my boyfriend got the BLT and we both were impressed. The bread was sweet and freshly baked, and all the ingredients were so fresh and tantalizing. I will absolutely be returning!

Probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! So simple but done so well. Will definitely be coming back for another sandwich.

Flavorful sandwich - turkey with fennel and brioche bun. Light, quick, and you can use the bathroom.

The pizza has a great traditional style with a flavorful sauce, plenty of cheese, and a crust that has a nice balance of crispness and chew. It's the kind of pizza that doesn't need to be overly complicated to be satisfying. The bakery selection is also a huge bonus and adds to the charm of the place. Service was friendly and neighborly, which really fits the personality of Orsi's. It feels like the kind of place where generations of Omaha families have been coming for years.

I noticed as I kept going he would be increasingly irritated. One day he finally told me to call ahead for deli orders. I called ahead and he quoted 3 hours for 1.5 lbs of meat. I wandered around then after 2 hours I thought this is ridiculous and called to cancel my order. Not long after I got about 10 missed called from the store...it was scary to be honest. I didn't even want to listen to the messages. I avoided going there for months but my son loves the fresh bread and meat so I went back. I didn't call because I didn't want to wait 3 hours. I'm sure he recognized me because another customer came in to order deli meat and he loudly said "IT'LL BE AWHILE BECAUSE THAT CUSTOMER DIDN'T CALL IN EITHER". I don't understand why he makes paying customers feel uncomfortable for ordering deli when there's literally a deli counter there. If you don't like it make prepackaged items to go, or get more staff. But don't take it out on the customer for doing something every other deli will do normally. I'm bummed to say I won't be coming here again. There's another deli out west called Casanovas where the owner is much nicer and doesn't mind slicing deli meat to order. It's worth the trip.

I was pleasantly surprised that a waffle comes included with the skillets, and even more surprised that it's a house-made protein waffle. Such a nice touch! The coffee was just as impressive as the food. They have a huge variety of flavors and customization options. Their lattes are on the sweeter side, which I personally love, and the coffee itself is smooth. The cold foam is fantastic. I also appreciate that all drinks come in to-go cups. As a slow coffee drinker, I love being able to take my coffee with me when I'm ready to leave. The atmosphere is great as well, especially the patio. Our first visit was during a busier time, and while our server was incredibly friendly, the patio didn't get checked on very often beyond ordering and food delivery. When we came back a few days later and sat inside, the service was fantastic. Multiple staff members checked on us throughout our meal, and the experience felt much more attentive. It may have just been a difference between the patio and indoor seating or the level of busyness. Overall, we were impressed enough to come back within three days, which says a lot. Great food, great coffee, great atmosphere. Highly, highly recommend!

The coffee was delicious, but the vanilla lavender tea was not as good, but still Tea, my guest felt it should have been steeped longer. The egg hash with 2 waffles was great, the waffles were exceptionally good. It's a great choice if you find yourself here. One thing to be prepared for tall people... the seat and table height are not great. You'll be crouching down to get food in your mouth before it falls off of your fork. The tables are low, and the seats are too high. As a shorter person I had to crouch and slouch over my food to get it into my mouth. This, sadly would be the one reason I'd not return. Also, This is a different type of restaurant, they're a church restaurant. Odd, but interesting. Either way, great waffles, cool staff!

I came to Pepper Jax in the Old Market to see if it's a more affordable spot than other places to eat here. And...with my bill coming to $15 for an entree and tip, it's not, really. But it is faster than other places and is convenient. I got a rice bowl with sausage and all the grilled vegetables, including jalapeño and banana peppers. She asked me if I wanted something (I forget what they called it but it is the juice from the pepper jars). Yes please! I don't like cold toppings on hot rice bowls (lettuce? No thanks). But I did get more jalapeños and banana peppers put on there. "You like it spicy." She said; she made sure things were the way I liked them. I appreciate that. There were not a lot of customers dining in (zero actually, although there were some people getting food to go). It is a large space there, and dimly-lit. It did not seem appealing in the winter evening, though it is probably nice on a sunny day. So I took mine back to my apartment. It is a big meal. I did have enough left over for breakfast and lunch, so that made it a better value.
