We have been waiting over a month for the insurance company to help with a water damage claim that was due to faulty installation when the home was built. This is the deal I signed with a broker that referred me to mercury so I started a policy with mercury insurance OK first of all, they asked me for my AAA information for a senior discount I gave this to them then I went on vacation and I sent the payment, but it was one day late and they canceled my policy. so I called them up and reinstated my policy when I did it was $50 cheaper I think I was getting ripped off in the first place. How could that be? I only have one car that kind of left me with a bad taste in my mouth, then I received a letter saying my policy was being canceled because someone else was living at my house someone named Kevin apparently mercury doesn't do any investigation and it would' of realized I live in a mobile home park with 100 units in here. There might be a dozen Kevins living in this park. They don't know that we go by space numbers so they cancel my policy and then also they said they lost my AAA information which is hard to believe and said they were denying my senior discount. I was pretty upset about this. sounds like they have 12 year olds running the office. All they would had to do is look on Google maps and realize this is a mobile home park with 100 units or more and they are missing a space number, it made me angry, and I chewed out my broker for no apparent reason. I do not like having my policy canceled for nonsense. All they had to do is do their homework look it up on Google maps and it would've realized what the issue was. I don't like dealing with insurance companies that are problematic and can't keep records. Watch in a few months they lose my senior discount information my AAA card and say oh we can't read the number. that's what my agent told me after I had given them the information and they said they could read it. Had Mercury for years. Accident later and one comprehensive claim for broken windshield, they raised my premium two fold. Changed to Geico and it all went down to what I was paying originally with Mercury. Years later they sent me an offer... When I asked for a quote it was twice Geico... Useless and stay away... Very disappointed. Will definitely switch insurance co. Have them for homeowners and had a leaky roof. Was denied claim and told roof was too old. Had a licenced roofer who came out and said the roof was in great condition and good for at least another 15 years. The problem wasn't even the roof but a simple sealant that he took care of immediately. Plus insurance had my roof tarped and didn't even tarp over the actual area of the leak. Very difficult to get ahold of them. I call several times and am they do not get back. Horrible company. Would never refer anyone to them. read more

Mercury Insurance is a great company until you get into an accident. Mario A is an awful Claims Adjuster. I have been going back and forth with him stating that my statement is not what I said. When they provided me a copy of my statement, the key facts were "inaudible" and are excluded, but yet they managed to include every time I said "um." They didn't transcribe my statement verbatim and left out important things I said. I called to follow up regarding the accident and was told I wasn't at fault and everything was okay. He assured me it was all good. And before we hang up he says, "hold on, what car were you driving?" He had no idea who I even was! When it came time to renew, my insurance increased so much. I had to contact my agent who said I was found at fault for an accident. When I called Mario he said that Mercury went to mediation and didn't bother to contact me nor prove my case, they settled and put me at fault. Their communication is awful and they don't bother to even represent their clients. Now I'm stuck with them for 3 years and I hate it. read more

This insurance company started out good Oct 2017 , after 3 months they raised my rates by $40 per month when I called them about I'd they assured me I was still getting a good rate. I did not get any tickets no accidents and yet they continued to raise my rates. I had only received insurance from Mercury for 8 months. After I could no longer afford thier HIGH rates of from $280 a month up to $340 a month I canceled June 17th 1 week prior to payment fir next month in writing and they still debited my account for full payment it's been almost 2 weeks and still no re-embursment even over drew my account with still no word. Where to begin? First I was sideswiped in my new-to-me car that I had owned for a month. I opted in for the rental car coverage, $30 a day for $30 days. My body shop and rental car took precisely 30 days. I was then deemed at fault for the accident, and Mercury decided that the labor on my car "should have only taken 14 days". 14 days x $30 = $420 payout, when in reality I was out of a vehicle for a month and they refuse to pay me the full $900. My insurance adjuster is (now was because I'm switching) Suzanne Carrillo, ext. 21893. I had been calling for months regarding an update on the case, and weather they would fight the other party's insurance fraud, to which they did not fight for me, nor did I ever get a chance to speak with my insurance agent Suzanne. I spoke with Suzanne one time, the first time when I gave her my statement of the accident, and never again. Mercury is only affordable because you're paying for the bare minimum. An insurance agent who won't reply to you via phone call/text/email/mail, and an insurance company that won't fight for you. You're better off going through almost any other insurance company. Horrible Company - Stay Away!!!! - They took this drunks (see video) side over ours. @MercuryIns Superbowl Sunday, 10:45pm, one of Mercury's, drunk and drugged up policy holders slams into my mom's and a neighbor's car. He flees the seen and refuses to talk to Mercury. Mercury's answer to all this - Avoiding my calls and emails, both claim adjuster, Caleb, and supervisor, Cherise Ford. It tooks days to get a call back to only be told that they can't get ahold of him, and if they can't get ahold of him, then that's as far as it goes. I even went as far as providing this guys work information just to be told that they could not contact him at work because they didn't know what department he works in. I was able to find the department and department phone number online ins two minutes. And as a matter of fact, I just reviewed my emails to Caleb and I did provide this information. Caleb was provided with a link to the department this POS works in and the phone numbers for the department. Mercury will keep insuring this POS and we're stuck dealing with this on our own. As of August 7, 2020 I switched my homeowner's policy from Mercury to AAA. Today is Sept. 21, and I have still not received my refund. My mortgage company paid the policy in full in July when I bought my house. I have been calling the agent that I bought the policy from and he has been no help. I now have to call Mercury directly and they still don't have an answer for me. They are holding my money and everyone at Mercury says there is nothing they can do about it. After almost THIRTY YEARS I left. Why? They raised my rates without warning by $50 in one month. I think that's because my old insurance agency who I also entrusted was bought out by firefighters insurance. Much of the problem was my FORMER agent, Joan, who went to Firefighters. She had a fiduciary duty to contact me and let me now she moved...but she didn't even give me her new phone #, advise me of her move, or the fact Mercury was about to raise my bill. Nothing. My wife had to send me her new eaddress. So I wrote her and advised her of my angry feelings. Then she called me. To apologize? In April I had a complicated, multi-state, multi-car situation that was truly a hassle, and after some wrangling on the phone was able to acquire liability for a car in a separate state. I've been with Mercury insurance for two years now. recently, my windshield was hit with tornado damage in Oklahoma a few days ago. I filed a claim with Mercury on Monday and didn't get a call till this morning and was told that I can't do anything about my windshield because I don't have "comprehensive coverage". My whole life I've never heard of such thing. What's the point of me paying for full coverage if I can't even get my windshield fixed due to something that was out of my control? I never had a claim with any insurance company.Mercury Insurance send an agent to take picture of my house, and decided that they don't want to insure my house.if I will not fix whatever they want on my own private property.we are in California and you cannot water your lawn's they have a problem with that. that we are not running maintenance on our loans. they also had a problem that they have a lot of brand new cars that I own on my own property.and other nonsense that have nothing to do with the policy. when I try to talk to them they said that this is their underwriter decision. so they cancelled my policy but it still refused to give me all my money back.bait-and-switch company with a lot of stupid people working for them. I was with Mercury for 6 years and I keep noticing rates going up every 6 months term renewal. When I reported my accident somebody rear ended my car and the guy who hit my car didn't want to pay the damages, Mercury didn't want to cover the Collision waiver when I have been payment my premium every year that comes with collision waiver. DO NOT USE MERCURY INSURANCE. I'm trying everything I can to budget so I can switch to a different insurance company... I got hit by someone who ran a stop sign, and they said they still needed him to admit fault (which lets be real, he was never going to). Even with a police report which said it was the other drivers fault and I had the right of way, the arbitrators still somehow blamed me at 20% fault. How??? The adjusters have so many cases (I'm assuming) that they can't dedicate proper time to your case. My car was "lost" for like a week and I had to hunt it down myself. I love my agent, but when it comes down to it he just sells insurance- he doesn't actually help me when there's an unfortunate event. The adjusters aren't going to do a good job fighting for you. I went with a cheap insurance company because I know I'm a very cautious driver, but when I was hit because of someone else's negligence- I got the short end of the stick in every way possible. Especially because it's impossible to find a reasonably priced car right now with the aluminum shortage and cars stuck at the ports. I'm suffering from severe anxiety now. Every time I'm in the car, my heart races and I don't trust traffic signs, lights or peoples signals. The driver involved in our accident, almost T boned where my 3 month old son's car seat was. It's really hard to not be terrified when you know you and your baby are not going to be protected or fought for. At the same time it makes me laugh because I'm literally putting a good chunk of money monthly into a company that did nothing for me, for now. read more

I have had my car stuck in Yuma, Arizona since February 19th, 2022, I live in San Diego CA and today is April 5th and my car is still not finished! Due to the incompetence of the claim adjustor, my vehicle was lost (eventually it was found), it was towed to a shop (BY Mercury claim adjustor) that did not even look at my car until over two weeks. Once the estimate was submitted I asked to get a review from the shop and they indicated a totally erroneous estimate. I had to bring this to the attention to both the shop and my claims adjustor who (I guess was to busy to actually do any work). After I (the client) got the manager of the body shops number and insisted on getting a correct estimate to Mercury (again isn't this a claim adjustors job??) Once I made the shop manager send the correct estimate to Mercury instead of approving the estimate (so I can get my car back) Mercury instead decided to have an additional adjustor come and then did not approve the estimate until aprrox 2 weeks later!!!!!!!!!!!! All the while I do not have my car and live over 3+ hours away from where the car is being fixed. Now I am over the car rental extension and due to all the issues that Mercury has caused they refuse to extend my rental for 3 days to cover when I have to drive over 3 hours to pickup my car (by the way I have to miss an entire day of work to get my car which apparently Mercury could care less about). I have been with Mercury for over 20 years with several different vehicles. I cannot wait to get my car back so I can run as far away from Mercury as I can. I am sharing my story of the horrible customer service and claims adjustor service with everyone I can. Never again will Mercury have me, my family or any of my friends as a client! read more

So there is no scenario where their Service Line Endorsement ever pays, it is just a cash grab, with no actual chance of paying out a claim. So, my wife and I have been loyal Mercury customers for over 30 years now. About 2 months ago, there was a severe windstorm here in La Verne which toppled large Ficus trees in my backyard and in the process knocked down both a cinder block wall and a vinyl wall extension (about 40 feet of damage). When the Mercury adjuster came out he said the Vinyl wall segments were 'salvageable' and could be reused. However, several contractors said they could not be salvaged because they were anchored to the cinder block wall with concrete and must be cut off so the cinder block beneath could be repaired. So, the adjuster 'low-balled' the estimate (typical) and made incorrect assumptions. When I called them and asked for them to re-estimate the repair costs and factor in the vinyl wall (which was a very solid and expensive add-on) they never came out and have since stopped communicating with me altogether. I asked for $1,800 in additional payments to cover the wall repairs. It's one thing to dispute my findings; but it's entirely another to just ignore me and refuse to return my calls and emails - these guys are the worst. The agent is named Brian Parker and his Supervisor is Robert Siessel. I guess this is where their profit margins come in for their Executive Management; if you low-ball enough customers and just stop communicating with them - that unpaid money will end up in their coffers and make a nice bonus for the C-level chumps at the end of the year. Nice work if you can get it. Well, I'm not taking this lying down; it's the principle really. I'm going to cancel all of my premiums, write this nasty review and then sue them in small claims court. I have been a customer of Mercury for more than 10 years with Home and Auto policies. Was in an accident where another vehicle hit the back of my car, I was at no fault. This is my first claim in more than 10 years. However this company created the most difficult process to get my car fixed, only to save some money. It forced me to get my car fixed at Santa Monica Ford Collision Center: a body shop that is forced to give the lowest possible estimate to Mercury and then does not want to do the work. I had to call every day for 2 weeks to schedule the appointment, they took longer that what they had estimated, and left marks on my car. Meanwhile Mercury Agent was unavailable, not returning phone calls, and then rationalizing why it took so long (I could have the car fixed at any other center within 1 week). I regret having my policy with this company that has no regards for customer service. Policy holders beware. read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. Not sure if I just have a bad agent or what's wrong. But my boyfriend and is car got hit and the person who hit us filed their claim with Mercury. It has been two months now trying to reach our agent and she doesn't answer her phone nor respond to voicemails. We have left her 7+ voicemails and I got in touch with her once and she said she had to send us paperwork so I gave her our address and she said I will get back to you soon. She has not gotten back to us, but has the nerve to send a letter in the mail saying "we have been trying to reach you, you need to call within 10 days or this claim will be closed". On January 31st, 2022, I found water marks on my living-room baseboard. Trying to understand what was happening, tracing the mark and what was behind, I found that my kitchen cabinets were damaged. As I have drawers on my bottom cabinets, I did not have visibility of what was happening sooner. I filed a claim with Mercury insurance, and they send a 3rd party to do an assessment. The cause of the damage was the connector between the water and the dishwasher that was dropping water Our claimed was denied as the presence of mold showed that the leak was more than 14 days old. However, there was no visible damage that would make us check under the cabinets sooner. I'm currently in touch with water damage companies to remediate the issue and heard that Mercury is very tough to approve claims. At the end of the day, I have an insurance policy that does not cover my damages and use unreasonable justifications not to be accountable for the services they are meant to deliver to customers. read more

Absolute worst experience ever! My family and I were victims of a road rage attack, that resulted in felony child endangerment charges against the other driver. Our car was not drivable after being hit at 75mphs, spun around multiple times on the freeway and then thrown off the highway - off-roading uncontrollably. Mercury brought it to a repair shop and did cosmetic repairs but never inspected the car fully. It took 5 months of repairs before we got the car back. When we got it back it was riddled with mechanical issues. We needed a new transmission, our front right axel was broken, AC was broken and the engine had two big oil leaks. We provided multiple inspections showing the damage and the correlation back to the accident. Mercury flat out lied in a test drive where the issues were observed. They denied all expert input on the cause of the damage. They have denied the claim without showing any reason why. My family and I were given a car back they required another 10k in repairs. A car that is unsafe to drive and is now uninsurable. It's going to cost us 10's of thousands of dollars to get out of this nightmare. We will fight them for as long as it takes to hold them and the people who attempted to put our family back into a very unsafe car accountable. Mercury has put profits above the safety of their policyholders. Please don't get fooled by the low premiums. There is a very dark and sinister management philosophy at Mercury. read more

I got a speeding ticket in December 2020. It was SUPPOSEDLY for over 100 MPH. Not nearly accurate. The only thing I saw in my rearview mirror were headlights right on my bumper. There was another car to my right. waited for him to pass so i could get away from tailgater. As soon as I signaled and moved, he hit the lights. I was only trying to get away from him. He was inches from my bumper. I was NOT going near 100. Needless to say, Mercury TRIPLED my monthly payments from $209/ month to $570 per month. Highway robbery. No cases were being held i n Traffic Court due to pandemic. What a Farce. NOW I need to add a new car my husband bought because his transmission went out on a 2017 Nissan Sentra. Really bad experience. My mom and dad have home insurance with them and there was a small leakage in their house. It has been 8 months and it's still not fixed. first, they offered so little money that we couldn't find anyone to fix the leakage for that amount. Then they brought in their own contractors who are even worse than them. they order one thing, install it and then order the 2nd thing and wait for it to be delivered.
